I have shot both and got faster results out of the rx3. Most reviews I’ve seen the bow has not been adjusted. They say 29” when really it’s 29.5 because Mathews run long. With both the vertix and RX3 set to spec, same rest and arrow, the rx3 was faster.
Guadalupe Jimenez it’s an allusion. The sound meter is not right in front of the target. The meter is about 10 feet from the target and about 4 feet from me.
@@ElkCallingAcademy so how do you filter out the sound of the arrow hitting the target so that it doesn't register on the meter. Realistically, the sound test should be conducted outdoors with the target at least 30 yards down range to drop that sound level below that of the bow.
I was thinking the same thing. It should be the sound of the bow string and arrow flying without the added sound of it hitting the target. Could the RX3 have more energy hitting that target producing higher noise? Sceptical, but overall great video. Loved your transitions where you appeared to melt away during shooting at 10:00. Have a good, one!
Shot the rx3,helix, sr6, vertix all yesterday. Not a fan of the vertix draw cycle, the rx3,helix,sr6 all were very smooth draw cycles. Helix and rx3 felt identical, the grip felt a bit better on the rx3. I ended up going for the rx3, my current bow is a bear agenda 6 #73 pounds. The rx3/helix at 70# pounds felt like a 50# bow, so you know i ordered the 80# limbs.
I just shot both back to back, probably 20 shots each..... the RX3 is definitely way louder. (I've shot a Hoyt Nitrum 30 since 2015, I've been pleased with it, but the truth is the truth)

iGotClutch4 thank you. I’m personally shooting the Traverse right now but thinking about picking up the Vertix. If you’re mostly shooting target and 3d, the Traverse would be the better choice for you.
The only reason the Hoyt had better speed is it had a drop away rest and the Mathews had a hostage rest. They both need the same rest to be evenly compared
Justin House thank you for watching and commenting. I’m going to set up 2 identical bows but one will have a fall away and the other will have a whisker biscuit and we’ll test the speeds to find out how much of a difference there really is.
I think Bowtec should let Joe test that bow for nock travel and bow torque test a lot of other companies let him put there products to the test like Mathews, Hoyt, Prime, and Bear we want to see come on now.
When you see a difference of speed with the same weight arrow, it’s usually indicative of being to close to the chrono. When he shot the Traverse it was faster.
Another great review. I will have to echo one of the comments below in that of the several side by side tests I have done with Vertix and RX3 the Vertix has been fast ever single time when the weight was scale adjusted to the same amount. Not that it a big deal and both bows are fantastic, but yet to see an RX3 beat the new Mathews thru the chrono.
Ordered a Vertix. Despite your speed testing, the Vertix and RX3 in my hands showed the Vertix 8 fps faster. Vertix is way quieter, way less vibration. Both have good grips. Both have good draw cycles. Edge maybe to RX3 on both. The talk on AT about the RX3 riser being “off,” meaning not machined well, turned me away. $1600 should be perfect. Vertix is on the way!
