    I guess what bothers me is this. We won the Big12, went to the CFP, officially joined the SEC, have the best NIL, won the directors cup, and have biggest brand in college football. Why are we struggling to get the recruits we need?

      @@Zion3d7-pi4ls 17-18 year olds kids wanting to be different… Oregon is the sexy flashy program with Nike money… Ohio State has recruited well in Texas for the last decade plus… wish more of the top talent in Texas wanted to stay in Texas and represent their State but many don’t see it that way anymore unfortunately. Also on DL recruits, losing Bo Davis hurt because Kenny Baker was about 6 months to a year behind on a lot of the relationship building with top DL recruits… it will all work out by December if we have another strong season and there is always the portal…

    So Aggie and Ou are gonna have higher ranked classes then Texas 1st yr in the sec?.
    ..Let see how that works out in 3 yrs...Something is not adding up..With nil kicking in like it is cancel all these late flips we hope for..Only kids flipping are gonna be low 4 star and 3 star players....The lack of self awareness as the longhorn entity is crazy work...Defensive class is gonna look like a Baylor are Okie State class....The best thing Pete has done at Texas is getting Herman's Defensive linemen not to transfer.....Wow...just...wow...
    Aint nobody worried about Texas locking down these Fertile borders...Best season in 15 yrs..Whip Bama at home..playoff appearance..Followed by a class that only has a chance to be elite offensively...Nah...Something stinks....This IS NOT adding up..

    2 things are happening..................1) Sark made a mistake w/Kenny Baker......going into SEC you need a rainmaker DL coach recruiting wise. Baker was a headscratching hire 2) Texas NIL is not what everyone thinks it is. There is basically one booster or cigar that has been carrying Texas on that front.

    The comment about if you’re second, you might as well be sixth (If you’re not first, you’re last!) goes against some of what’s happening now in college football. A lot of the flux happening at schools: coaching carousel, losing games, transfer portal, etc., means that a second choice in the initial recruitment could be the first choice when a kid decides to leave their first choice.

  • @rotadyma

    I'm not worried about WR at all. That's always going to be a portal target every year. Not to mention our WR room right now is enormous! Moore wouldn't have played as a freshman anyway. Butler, Dubose, Niblett, Livingstone and Wingo are all True FR. Bolden, Bond, Cook and Golden are all at the top of the depth chart. And don't forget we still have D. Moore who is a sophomore. If he lives up to potential, he's a stud. So, WR I'm not worried about. Going into the SEC, I'd like to see a lot more depth, especially at DT and linebacker. That's a concern of mine.

    Why is a commitment in July so final and causing panic and desperation? Committing now is not as big as in the past during the new NIL era. Negotiations won’t even get serious until the end close to and up to signing day. Everyone is panicking about early committing but there’s a full season of games both high school and college where so many things can happen and Texas would be stupid to blow their wad on NIL now and drive up the price then they might be less able to get the guys that they really want. Poacher schools are intentionally targeting Texas big targets with late offers and promises right before they were going to commit to Texas so turnaround and pull the rug out from Oregon in December, same with others. Texas can sit back and evaluate new prospects that will emerge or go after top five stars that may or may not be committed and take a big swing at some of those guys that aren’t on the radar now but might be interested if Texas has a great season. Texas is smart to find out with recruits truly want to play for the Longhorns now and build a foundation for the class and then go big at the end for who they want with a power move. Sark and company have been planning and know what to expect and how they can best win out for recruits, every recruit that Texas is missing on now will be listening to what Texas is saying in November and December.

    Texas hasn’t proven it’s a blue blood yet, we need to have consistent seasons that shows we ARE a blue blood. One season a blue blood does not make. We’re competing against a bunch of true blue bloods. We need to put ourselves in that company by developing talent.

    • @rotadyma
      @rotadyma 4 дні тому

      So, Texas isn't a blue blood but there are a "BUNCH" of Blue Bloods in the SEC??? You do realize UT is the 5th winningest program of all time and was the 2nd highest program in money last year? The only blue bloods in the SEC are Georgia, Alabama and maybe LSU. The rest are just good programs. At the very worst, we are the 3rd or 4th best program going into the SEC right now. And if things align right and we stay healthy, Texas wins the SEC this year.
