I think Schloss and Weiner together won't be "experimenting" with rotation early as Pierce liked to do. That will be a huge improvement in early season performance. As arms develop they'll implement during the season and not just throwing crap against the wall to see what sticks early.

Pierce was not so much experimenting as trying to find talent that was stable and srr who really understood pitching. The older guys not consistent and the younger guys demanded constant monitoring and coaching.

When LeBarron Johnson experienced ineffectiveness throwing fastball strikes and consistently was at 80 pitches before he got out of the 4th inning this past season, the writing was on the wall for Coach Pierce. I like Coach Pierce, but he didn't have the ability to help improve marginal Pitchers on his team. He didn't seem to have a good feel of which Pitchers to utilize in specific game situations. I don't think he was a motivating factor to benefit his Pitchers when they needed it. Like every season, Texas lost some great Pitchers to Major League Baseball that had earlier committed to them. I think Coach Pierce is a prime example of a person wanting complete control of a work situation, as opposed to hiring good people that can do a good job at various duties, so you are not forced to do everything yourself, which is clearly impossible for you to do, anyway.

    1. Jalin Flores and Jared Thomas are definitely uncertainties, regarding the 2025 roster. It seems Flores might be more likely to return to Texas than Thomas.
    2. Hoping that at least Flores returns, Texas could at least have an Infield from First Base to Shortstop of Casey Borba, Ethan Mendoza, Adrian Rodriguez, and Flores.
    3. Peyton Powell at Third Base and Thomas at First Base were either among the best two players or the absolute best player at their position in the Big 12 last season. Replacing them will not be easy, but I think the overall upside of the projected starters could exceed the overall production of the starting Infield for Texas last season.
    4. Considering the poor season that Porter Brown had this past season, and hoping that Will Gasparino significantly improves his plate awareness and ability to make more contact at the plate, I think with the addition of Easton Winfield, and the return of Max Belyeu, Texas could have one of the better Outfields in the nation. Winfield in Left Field, Gasparino in Center Field, and Belyeu in Right Field would be an Outfield of three fast, aggressive, and very good fielding Outfielders.
    5. Texas currently looks great at the Catcher position with Rylan Galvan and Kimble Schuessler rotating at Catcher and Designated Hitter.
    6. As much as I hope Thomas returns to Texas, I don't think he will. I just think his upside and potential as a pro right now is too high for him not to be drafted high enough to sign. However, with the expected production of the Outfield and the Infield without Thomas, if Thomas was to return, it would make the Infield potentially great with his and Flores' return.
    7. Coach Pierce utilized Flores as the number two hitter later in the season, but I think Mendoza would be the perfect number two hitter who could move runners along, sacrifice bunt, and just create circumstances to place even more players in scoring position and on base for the Texas run producers to drive in.
    8. I am not sure I have enough time to talk about Texas pitching. Just like I think Coach Sarkisian needs to focus on Defensive Tackle recruiting and development, I think Coach Schossnagle needs to focus on Pitcher recruiting and development.

    Lineup prediction:
    LF Winfield
    SS Flores
    RF Belyeu
    DH Schuessler
    C Galvan
    2B Mendoza
    1B Borba
    3B Rodriguez
    CF Gaspo
After the top 3, the lineup could go in a lot of directions. It is very deep but I think we are lacking one more proven top of the line bat if Thomas departs. Bullish on Galvan and Borba taking large jumps, don’t sleep on Nik Sanders either. Curious to see how Ace Whitehead fits into the equation this year and how Grubbs can get even better in the Arm Farm.

That’s the name of our channel/brand. Wouldn’t be wise to change the name just for one show a week.

Pierce was not experimenting so much as trying to discover reliable weekend starters and who could relieve reliably.
