Yes. Good build quality but still will give Toyota edge in engineering. That said, Toyota has no answer for this until Land cruiser Se comes. Also you need to really want this to have vehicle when technology is aging like milk now
I saw an EV9 last week. It has such a presence in person. Simple design and sophisticated. Kia just began EV9 production at West Point, Georgia last month where they make Telluride and Sorrento.
David, that Kia EV9 is a very sharp looking SUV. Your Car Analysis Chart is extremely helpful in reviewing specific areas. The rear spoiler adds a very sporty look to the rear of the vehicle.
I drive a kia proceed great bulit quality and 7 year warranty or 100,000 mile warranty great video keep up the good work kev from the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 really looking forward to the next video
As quick at my IONIQ 5 AWD Limited but charges a bit slower due to its battery voltage configuration. There is no getting around a needed 3rd row so if that’s your target then this is the best pick in a BEV on sale now. I wouldn’t buy lighting sequences for my hidden exterior accent lighting. If trips for you are 170% of the range then this pick will be fabulous just be able to charge at your destination. I say that because you’ll leave home having just charged to 100% and charge on the road for around 70% gain in SOC for time sake. A third or fourth stop isn’t a deal breaker but at that charging speed your pace would be a casual one and not a time constraint blitz rush. Six or seven trips a year at well over 170% of range then the Lucid Gravity will give you the range and charging speed to conquer those roads while saving time. If you’re like me and 95% of use is for around town needs then don’t hesitate. No sense spending 20K more for the 5% of you travel conditions the Lucid would help with. Most people are better off flying or renting to put the miles off your depreciating asset. Depreciation is a tough one to call but Hyundai and KIA’s are aging well so they will hold better than most and if not this will be a stellar deal in 18 months.👍🏼 18:35
As an engineer wonder what you think about the front grill where the light effects are being made from a brittle acrylic. Many are getting it cracked as it is a flat face that is first to confront things coming at it. Also for an upgraded premium stereo system, I find the Meridian lackluster and no bass.
Batteries last longer than a typical gas engine. Usually 300k-500k miles on average. By that time you’d have saved so much money in gas costs to buy multiple batteries, or a whole new car.
I think when you buy an electric car, you don’t buy it primarily to save money over a gas car. Instead, you buy it to achieve refinement of a gas car that costs often 10-20k or even more. So in this case, over a long term, you might not save a ton of money compared to some Lexus RX/TX hybrid when you take depreciation, tires and etc into account. But you get X5 level refinement for way less money.
@@MrRaitzi nope. Scratched my “battery” 100s of times. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever. Plenty of room between the outer hardened steel layer and inner sensitive layers to take hard impacts. Compare that to plastic panels covering fuel tanks in ICE cars. No thanks.
I find it strange to downgrade the price assessment for the general reputation of the brand. KIA had no bad rep, but was known for reliable, good cars, yet unspectacular ones. The price has to be assessed with view on what it delivered (price/performance) especially compared to competitors. And the EV9 is very good across the board, but also 20-50k cheaper than any (premium) competitors, but these lack the space, variability and are technically only marginally better if at all (Mercedes EQS, BMW, ...). Thus, from an professional price/performance standpoint your price assessment does not make any sense.
No competition in the sheer amount of environmental damage probably lol really wish companies would focus much more on hybrids seeing as the demand is huge but supply is pathetic. Toyota has said that for every EV they make, they can make about 100 regular hybrids. Now imagine how many hybrids can be made with the Kia EV9's gigantic battery
I am not a conservative person, but I have experience with both Japanese and Korean cars. I can say that Japanese cars are still the best choice in terms of quality and resale value. Even though Korean cars, such as Kia, are cheaper than Japanese cars like Toyota, I think Kia is not worth buying.
The ev9 is unique and quirky but the Rivian R1S is much more handsome and mature in my opinion. Someone who would have bought an e38 7 series in the 90s and early 2000s would like the Rivian over the Kia.
If you have money and can live it, Rivian is more appealing to me also. Living with it I mostly mean where closet service is. What worries me about Kia is the battery and lower ground clearance. One bad scratch and car is totalled.
I’m a Toyota driver but I have to admit that Kia has come a long way in 10 years. Good to see someone give Honda and Toyota serious competition.

Can't wait to test it out with the family!
It's the best 3-row electric SUV so far!

Very innovative David
Thanks so much
These days, as the automobile market is transitioning to electric vehicles, the actions of Hyundai and Kia Motors are certainly impressive.

Great video David! Have you met up yet with Amd @Car Care Nut? Still looking for a collaboration with you two.
What's the cost of battery replacement? It's a nice-looking vehicle, but I was just wondering if it's worth getting over a Honda or Toyota.

If you scratch the battery to ice or rock, it will be totalled. Current replacement cost in kia/Hyundai is about price of new vehicle.

@@Methylphenidate2803 or X7 refinement, since this has 3 rows like the TX as well

It won’t be long before more competitors are coming
