If it was tapped on the fused side of the fuse, then you would be sharing a fuse and might be putting too much current through the fuse. Hi Chuck! good eye! the wire is connected to the the outer end of the fuse (since fuses are not keyed they can be inserted into the fuse box in either direction) so having the secondary fuse will protect the hardwire box if the molded fuse is installed backwards (with the side that is tapped for power being connected to the hot side bypassing the molded fuse) which in this case the inline fuse will protect the circuit (specially since the only way to know which is the side that was tapped is destructive like I had to do by peeling back the mold) Yep very clever but I'm more impressed you picked up on this man!

You're welcome @Kwikfud! Ah yes the bottom fuse is for the one I removed from the car and the top fuse is for the hardwire kit. Regarding amperage, I use the same as what the hardwire kit came with, so for example, the kit on this video came with blue (15A) fuses so I use the same when using fuse taps. Also, do you know what gauge the red cable that needs to be spliced to the reverse light is, I need to make it longer because it won't reach from where I mounted my camera. Thank you for your videos.
Hi zaidxela! The kit uses blue fuses 15A. And here is my hardwire overview video ua-cam.com/video/uZp95NbNlmM/v-deo.html and my reverse wire video ua-cam.com/video/LHGxwulIPes/v-deo.html Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hi Mike! correct, the dashcam should turn off after the car is turned off (parking mode kicks in) I would double check the fuse slots to confirm that both ACC and BATT are in their correct spots and that each spot acts correctly (Here is a video I made where I show how I probe the fuse spots to confirm they act correctly ua-cam.com/video/uZp95NbNlmM/v-deo.html ) also in a some rare cases I seen where the wires on the hardwire kit are switched, so yellow acts like red and red acts like yellow (ACC instead of BATT or BATT instead of ACC) that is also a possibility. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Thank you for this informative video. But one question, once i used fuse tap and installed the original fuse below, do i need to buy new fuse for the new dashcam?
You're welcome! Ah yes regarding the fuse, you are correct, the fuse tap has a spot for the original fuse removed from the car and a separate fuse spot for the fuse that the hardwire kit needs. Here is my follow up video where I explain this in more detail ua-cam.com/video/Qzw9yUYN7zo/v-deo.html Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun i need your help, can you make a video how to remove lane detection box, mazda 2 2019 model? Located behind the rear view mirror? I was planning to directly mount my dash cam wolfbox. But I can't find a way to remove the plastic box. Thank you sir
Thanks for the video. The hardwire kit I got for my Wolfbox G840S doesn't appear to have the additional fuse on each the BATT and ACC line (each line just has a spade fuse) but if you take a look at the circuit diagram supplied with it, you'll see that it shows that the BATT line has an additional fuse (an inline 2A fuse) (there is no additional fuse shown for the ACC line). Odd for sure. If you remove the two fuses that are supplied, you'll see that they are both 15A fuses (one for each line, to tap into the vehicle fuse box), and you'll see that there appears to be a mini in-line (ceramic?) fuse below the 15A spade fuse for the BATT line (there's nothing below the ACC line's spade fuse)... my guess is that that the hidden mini-fuse is the 2A fuse, and that their new design puts both fuses (the 15A spade and the 2A fuse) one after another, in the blue cartridge for the spade fuse. OK, probably works just fine. Also weird is that the ACC line seems to have only a 15A fuse (again, it doesn't have a 2A fuse like the BATT line does). You'd think that with such a small wire (it's like 24AWG?), you'd have something smaller than a 15A fuse (seems a 14A current would melt the 24 gage wire in a few seconds). Any thoughts?
Hi Al W! interesting, nope I haven't noticed any hidden fuses inside the overmold but I will keep an eye out for it, typically I don't see redundant fuses on hard wire kits (but there are some that have it to avoid the issue of someone plugging in the fuse tap backwards bypassing the main fuse tap fuse). Regarding amperage that is a good question, I'm not an EE but what I saw in the industry is that the fuse rating is a combination of normal current load, in-rush current (some call this peak current), then add a predetermined factor (normally I saw 135%) then add another factor for temperature (I seen anything from 10% to 20% per a certain number of degrees) then based on the results the engineers would spec the next larger standard fuse size) which is why we end up with large amperage fuses LOL but again the actual value will depend on what factors they are using for their calculation. Hope this helps and cheers bud!
Agreed. Wolfbox sent me their hardwire kit (I was going to go with Rove kit, which fortunately, have one sitting here) and as you note, the fuse size if fixed. Per WolfBox, they no longer offer the fuse set up in the video, only the variation you and I received.
@@Joseph-wv7yx Thanks for this info, yeah I noticed both this one and this other one that I really liked ua-cam.com/video/wAad_JA7kz8/v-deo.html from them is also MIA, I really hope Wolfbox is not going the way Vantop did and disappearing from Amazon which can cause issue getting accessories like right now or in the future. I don't mind ordering directly from their site but it's always nice to have a 2nd source available you know..
Good instructions, but you didn't show the hardware kit being connected to the dash cam. I ordered the package including the SD card, and got the wrong hardware kit twice from Amazon. Now I've got to go find me one that is compatible to it.
Hi Oscar! and thank you! ah yes not that your are familiar with the kit here is the video where I show the installation process in detail ua-cam.com/video/uZp95NbNlmM/v-deo.html Hope this helps and thanks for watching bud!
A question here because I got a same type of hardwire kit with my dashcam. So can I direct plug in this into my existing 5A Acc fuse location? Or if I replace the adapter, do I still need to put in a fuse on the dashcam fuse? Or just let it empty for the in line glass fuse work for it?
Hi Hanley! Yes the hardwire kit with molded fuses can be connected to the fuse box assuming there is an empty spot available that can provide ACC and another for BAT. However in cases where there are no empty fuses available, the molded fuse has to replaced with a function fuse tap, here is my video showing that process ua-cam.com/video/Qzw9yUYN7zo/v-deo.html and here is my video showing how I find ACC and BAT on any vehicle ua-cam.com/video/K2iKXj82354/v-deo.html Cheers!
Hope it is not too late to ask for help here, you seem very knowledgeable about this. Testing outside of the car, i find if I hook up the yellow to pos on battery, black to neg, the screen comes on. If I just only hook up the red wire to the battery positive, black to ground, the screen does not come on. Should this be the case? Putting into an old bus, so the fuses are nothing like todays fuses, so will have to cut wires to change out the ends. Thanks in advance
Hi M Sach! correct, if you are using a 3 wire hardwire kit, all 3 wires must be connected for the dash cam to turn on and work correctly (constant power, switched power and ground) the process is same in older cars without a central fuse box, the same 3 sources of power must be found and they can be tapped at the location of choice (via soldering or crimping or IDC) Here is another video where I show how to change the ends with crimping ua-cam.com/video/Qzw9yUYN7zo/v-deo.html and here is a video where I show how to tap into wires with IDC connectors ua-cam.com/video/LHGxwulIPes/v-deo.html Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Which independent battery pack would you recommend for the WolfBox G900 , for example I notice that Cellink Neo battery pack is hardwired to the car battery, this way the battery pack is charging while you drive the car. Then while in park the dashcam monitors the car utilizing power from the battery pack not the vehicles ( up to 24 hours) There are other’s Blackvue , Powercell , ThinkWare and Omni 20 .
Hi Manvet! Ah I have not tested running mirror dash cams off one of those battery packs, I actually prefer a normal hardwire kit to ensure warranty is not affected since Wolfbox does not have an approved battery kit but also because here in California we experience really hot temperatures which I would not want to subject the Li-ion battery to, that and the potential for a run away event (fire) during charging or discharging inside the car. That being said I know a few people are using battery packs so I imagine at some point it may make sense to test and review one out. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hello, can this still work, without using the yellow fuse? I want a clean install ( no cigarette lighter), but Don't want it to be on 24 hours. Thanks! Just turn on and off with car on/off!
Hi Casey! it should, however there are some dash cams that are sensitive to not connecting the yellow wire and won't turn on (very rare but I have encountered this in the past). If the yellow wire is connected you can still turn off the parking monitor from the dash cam menu, which would make the dash cam only come on and off with the car. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Hi Swol! currrent models of the Wolfbox dash cams require the use of the hardwire kit to enable parking mode. (For example the original T10 was able to have parking mode without hardwire kit but this feature has since been removed) Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hi Chili S! if the hardwire kit is connected correctly, the dash cam will go into parking mode when the car is off (screen will turn off) Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Interesting: my fusebox for my Charger, is located under the hood. Is there a common/general way to take the wires from inside the cabin, into the area under the hood that we should be practicing?
Hi CHARGEr Foward! Ah yes if I remember correctly the Charger has one fuse box in the engine compartment (for the larger Amperage items) and a smaller ono in the trunk. Normally installers will run the wire thru an existing hole in the firewall if tapping into the engine compartment area and some will actually drill a brand new hole to get the cable to come thru. It just seems to be preference on the installer and which method they seem more comfortable with. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Is it possible to connect 2, 12v current collector, in series? One and only fuse (acc)have already fuse bridge used to power something else. Does it take power from yellow cable?
Hi Amrik! ah if connecting multiple devices to one fuse slot, normally installers connect them in Parallel not in series (remember if connected in Series, each device only gets a portion of the total Voltage, so 2 devices in series would mean each one only gets about 6V out of the total 12V). However it is also important not to exceed the amperage rating of the fuse slot being used, so I would take into account the total load of the multiple devices connected to the fuse slot to make sure it's well under it's limit (which can vary from car to car, due to wiring size and other limitations, definitely check the car's service manual if in doubt) Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Hi Amanjot! While I have done that in the past (used a different kit) I usually recommend sticking to the matching hard wire for the dash cam (brand matching) which I cover in more detail on this video ua-cam.com/video/Yky9_tTvwMc/v-deo.html to ensure that there are no functional issues or issues with warranty coverage. Hope this helps, Cheers!

Hi Gustavo! The contents of the hard wire kit are different than the contents of the cigarette lighter plug, if you cut it you will not find the wires that are used by the hard wire kit. I had other viewers try to cut wire and connect the dash cam directly to their car but remember this will not enable parking mode and may drain your cars battery (hard wire kit has low voltage cut off) Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Hi Samorjit! Nope, most dash cams will typically only enable the parking mode function using a hard wire kit (since the kit tells the dash cam when the car is On or Off). Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Hello, recently I purchased the wolf box g900 hardwire kit and attempted installation but am running into a problem. I connected the hardwire kit to my fusebox (ensuring that the yellow (b+) wire went to a constant 30amp 12v tapped fuse, the red wire went to an ignition 15amp 12V fuse, and the ground was connected to a metal component in the car). I even verified this by using a multimeter to check the incoming and outgoing voltages of the black box circuit board (which were all 12v). However my wolf box dash cam does not turn on. However the dash cam turns on when using the cigarette lighter port in my car. Do you have any ideas about what could potentially be going wrong? I thought that perhaps the hardwire kit I received was faulty but ordered a replacement to find that the new one didn't work either. I also tried fuse connections of (15amp acc and 7.5amp constant using the original mini fuses (no standard fuse tap) to no avail as well). Any help would be appreciated. Any ideas as to what could be going wrong?
Hi Alex! ah the fuse tap may be backwards, here is another video where I show how to check with direction the fuse tap is inserted on ua-cam.com/video/uZp95NbNlmM/v-deo.html (otherwise the dash cam will no power on) Hope this makes sense and Cheers!
Hi Haniel! Typically the outside blade (the blade farthest from the wire coming off the tap) is the one that goes to the power side on a fuse slot. Hope this helps and thanks for watching bud!
Thank you@@AlexAutoFun , I think this important. Because putting it on the wrong way may is like putting direct electricity without going through the fuse. When something blow up, there is a high chance that other device connected to the fuse will be affected. Worst you car electric system may have permanent damage.
@@Haniel37 Yep! I agree bud! I always double check with a voltmeter to ensure that I have correct polarity, better safe than sorry. Cheers from California!
Hi hrborders! Yeah it's usually hard to find matching color fuse taps, which is kind the reason why I just use which ever color I happen to have on hand since I'm going by the function of the wire more than the color (specially since on some hard wire kits yellow is BATT and red is ACC but in some other kits they use red for BATT and yellow for ACC. Ugh you think this would be standard by now. Hope this helps, Cheers!

@@edercaramielo9757 Ah got you, if the car has empty fuse slots then the fuse taps (with single fuse) they included will work, however if the car does not have empty fuse slots available, the hard wire kit will have to be upgraded with fuse taps with dual fuse slots. Hi, im using a very similar hardwire kit. The dashcam keeps turning on and off with the hardwire kit, but it works with the cigarette adapter. What do you recommend? Thank you!
Hi Feco! The power your dash cam needs may be exceeding the maximum power that your hard wire kit can provide. Most Mirror Dash cams need 2.5 amps or more, using a kit that provides less than that would result in the power cycling your are experiencing. Compare the power output of the cigarette lighter adapter to the hard wire kit to see if if there is discrepancy there. Also some dash cams work better (or will only work) with the matching hardwire kit, so if you are mixing brands that may cause issues. Hope this helps and thanks for watching bud!
@@AlexAutoFun Thanks for the quick answer! Both unit are rated to output 2.5 amps. I tried to switch fuse sockets also in case if some doesn't provide enough voltage, but no luck. Im using the same company's hardwire kit, so i don't think this could be a problem. But there is a slight chance that it is a faulty one. Its a dead end currently to me.
Do you need to use both red and yellow to make the dash cam work? If your dash cam records throughout the night when the car is off, that’s what the yellow would be for. If I don’t have that feature or don’t want to use it, will it still work if I don’t connect yellow?
Hi Hyago! Technically the dash cam will work however it will be in a limited way. Since there is no yellow wire hooked up (the one that is used when the car is off) the kit won't know when you turned off your car and therefore most of the time it won't enable parking mode on a dash cam. When all 3 wires are connected, the kit will know when the car is turned off as the power comes from the yellow wire instead of the red wire and this tells the dashcam to turn off the main screen and enter parking mode. Hope that makes sense and thanks for watching!
@@AlexAutoFun what’s the point of both a red and yellow lead exactly? Like I have a hard wire kit that comes only with a red lead. If I take that and tap into constant power instead of ACC, wont my parking mode feature still work and I can shut the camera off manually with the button? Wouldn’t it work the same as having both the red and yellow lead?
@@hyagosilveira987 Hi Hyago! The point of the yellow wire is that it lets the dashcam knows when the car is off (this enables parking mode on most dash cams). When all 3 wires are connected, the kit will know when the car is turned off as the power comes from the yellow wire instead of the red wire and this tells the dashcam to turn off the main screen and enter parking mode. However yes you can also use a 2 wire kit and manually turn off the dashcam when you turn off the car, depending on the dash cam this may or may not enable the parking mode. Hope this helps bud!
Hi RDK RDX! If using a 2 wire hardwire kit, yes only 2 wires can be connected but if using a 3 wire hardwire like the one shown all 3 wires must be connected for the kit to work correctly. I explain this in more detail here ua-cam.com/video/Yky9_tTvwMc/v-deo.html Regarding the molded fuse blowing, unfortunately if it blows it will have to be cut off and replaced. Wow..11.6V +/- 0.2V cutoff.. That's low... Especially if the measurement errs on the -0.2V side. You are putting it close to not being able to start the car...That will definitely shorten the battery life.. and if the battery is on the old side that might kill the battery all together.
Hi mpcp27! yeah for some reason so far all the hard wire kits that I have tested (that don't have the option to set the cut off voltage) default to 11.6V I think it may be to the rule of thumb we used in the industry (12.1 for batteries ≤ 2yrs old, 11.8 for batteries 2-3 years old and 11.3 for batteries >3 yrs old) now where those numbers originated from, I don't know lol we just used them. You would think it would be the opposite but I think the mentality is that older batteries can't maintain higher voltages resulting in a non-working hard wire kit, but I'm not a EE so I can say for certainty lol Thanks for watching and commenting bud!
Hi Adrian! The Amp rating of the fuse for the hardwire kit varies (some kits have higher Amp requirements and some have lower amp draw). The particular kit shown on the video has blue fuses (15A) Cheers!

I just wired a relay with an additional cigarette plug to a switched trigger cause I had it laying around 😏

Hi Sajid! you can see in on my hard wire installation video ua-cam.com/video/zbxYA4VhuT8/v-deo.html at the 6:35 mark. Hope this helps my friend!

Would parking mode still work without the kit and only with the Red and black wire?
Hi Swol! currrent models of the Wolfbox dash cams require the use of the hardwire kit to enable parking mode. (For example the original T10 was able to have parking mode without hardwire kit but this feature has since been removed) Hope this helps, Cheers!
Is the dash cam suppose it stay on after turning vehicle off ?
Hi Chili S! if the hardwire kit is connected correctly, the dash cam will go into parking mode when the car is off (screen will turn off) Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
@@AlexAutoFun mine doesn’t do that . Stays on recording . I’ve wired it correctly .
@@chillyE30 Hi Chili! the dashcam should turn off after the car is turned off (parking mode kicks in) I would double check the fuse slots to confirm that both ACC and BATT are in their correct spots and that each spot acts correctly. Here is a video I made where I show how I probe the fuse spots to confirm they act correctly ua-cam.com/video/uZp95NbNlmM/v-deo.html also in a some rare cases I seen where the wires on the hardwire kit are switched, so yellow acts like red and red acts like yellow (ACC instead of BATT or BATT instead of ACC) that is also a possibility.
However it is also important not to exceed the amperage rating of the fuse slot being used, so I would take into account the total load of the multiple devices connected to the fuse slot to make sure it's well under it's limit (which can vary from car to car, due to wiring size and other limitations, definitely check the car's service manual if in doubt) Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
can i use universal hardwire kit on any dashcam like rexing
Hi. Can You help me? I don't whant to Buy the kit, I whant to do it, I have the cable USB mini, I cut it, have 4 color: red, black, white and green. I whant to know, wich color of the kit are. I don't know, indentify the yellow. Should ir ve white ir green?
Sir can we use power bank battery instead of hardwire kit installation???
Hi., Which side of the hardwire fuse should go to the positive side of the fuse slot?

I can't find any fuse taps with the yellow wire. Thoughts?
Hi hrborders! Yeah it's usually hard to find matching color fuse taps, which is kind the reason why I just use which ever color I happen to have on hand since I'm going by the function of the wire more than the color (specially since on some hard wire kits yellow is BATT and red is ACC but in some other kits they use red for BATT and yellow for ACC. @@edercaramielo9757 Ah got you, if the car has empty fuse slots then the fuse taps (with single fuse) they included will work, however if the car does not have empty fuse slots available, the hard wire kit will have to be upgraded with fuse taps with dual fuse slots. Hi,
im using a very similar hardwire kit.
Hope this helps bud!

can i connect only the red cigarette lighter wire? at minute 2:00 is it possible to remove the fuse from its slot if it blows?
@@AlexAutoFun thank you very much, now everything is much clearer, however I have just installed the kit and it works great, you have to connect both fuses otherwise it does not work. The G-sensor parking mode now works very well as soon as you give the body a shot the Cam turns on.

@@AlexAutoFun it is not clear to me what amperage value the two fuses have, on my kit D07 it is not specified, could you tell me the values of the fuses on the red and yellow wire?
@@rdkrdx6989 Hi RDK RDX! I have not reviewed the D07 kit yet so I'm not sure if it's different than the JY-01-WHT Kit, but I think you are referring to the fuses on the kit I showed on this video, the are blue in color which on fuses it normally indicates a 15 amp rating. Hope this helps, Cheers!
I put one in my Honda odyssey and kill the battery 🤬
Hi there I've a question what kind of fuse are those? 10 15?
Hi Adrian! The Amp rating of the fuse for the hardwire kit varies (some kits have higher Amp requirements and some have lower amp draw). The particular kit shown on the video has blue fuses (15A) Cheers!
