- This video shows the location and some shortcuts on how to change the evaporation canister valve solenoid on a 2020 and newer Ford Explorer with a 3.0 twin turbo. I’m assuming it’s the same for the Lincoln aviator with the 3.0 L V6. I tried to add some text to the video describing how to the clips that are not visible in the video but that didn’t work out. There are 4 connectors. We will call 1 and 2 towards the front, the 3 & 4 towards the firewall. #3 is the vacuum line and the release is the same as the connector with the from.
So 1 and 2 are accessible and easy to remove.
#4: This one will be the toughest to disconnect due to the tight space. Take your time there's a little tab you press in and pull back towards the fire wall to disconnect.
#3: this one will seem to be the hardest to tackel but it's the easiest. There's a quick connect just attached just like #1. Take your hand and follow that line its verry short you will end up to a couple of hoses held in place together and right in front of that is a connection you can remove really easily. Pry that hose out of its home and remove the whole purge valve then remove the quick connect that seemed impossible to take out.
Was it making any noise or sounds when you would be idling or when drive ?
No noise, just a check engine light and occasional hard starting after fueling.

This is for the 3.OL in the ST. The part for the 2.7L is probably different.

It was not. Initially just a check engine light with occasional hard starting after fueling.
