wowow really solid production throughout this review. good value entry for people who arent into kit builds
Cheers for the video mate, I'm going to sub (already left a like), because you're the only one I have found that does a review after 6 months. I found that so many times you buy something, love it initially then end up not using it or buying something else. Much appreciated, thank you.
Exactly , long term reviews are so needed once the hype train has gone !
awesome video I been watch your videos for sometime now always very detailed , finally I will be purchasing my avatar next week.
Thank you means a lot
Thanks, Darren. a great video. I have both the FPV and the avata. Love both of them
So much fun aren't they
Another KickAss review. Good stuff. Thanks Broth3r. 👍
Have the avata and today I paired the goggle to my mini 3 pro and was chuffed to see option for the Air 3 too… I intend to try these over next couple of weeks… now as to the Avata, I’m in love with all the fun I’m having with it, crashes and all.. I love the cinematic shots I get from my min 3 pro and my Mavic Air 3, but just the fun of pretending to be a pilot of iron man and flying round everywhere is brilliant.. now if only the sd card and usb port were better positioned then it’d almost be perfect
I've got the dji fpv and I'm blown away with it's power and control
Strongly agree with using the goggles on a Mavic 3!
Is that Keswick? Flippin' heck, the Lake District! Quite brilliant Mate!
Another good long term review Darren.
Thank you 😊
Thanks for more great content!
I loke your vibe - you seem like a really kind person :)
Great video Darren, I am starting to be swayed but first my mini 3 pro and mavic 3 classic hopefully in June all going well.
The avata though looks like great fun so I will have to save some more, and sweet talk the boss.
good luck to you lol
YOU will make me buy one of these! Top reviews. Thx so much❤
Thank you ☺️
Love this drone
Hey Darren, I may have just joined the more "serious" drone flying family at the exact right time, but my 1st drone was miniPro 3 and then they released the Avata shortly after and I got it soon as it was released. I love them both but as you have perfectly stated many times,, they are different and perfect for different situations. Love them both,, for different reasons in different situations. Love the channel and thank you for all the time you take for all of us to learn from each other and ultimately HAVE FUN!! Thanks bro
Which one I should get first between avata and mini 3 pro?
@nflclub Hey! If you're having to choose one, I would have to say now that you can use mini pro in FPV mode and enjoy both views from one drone, I'd choose the mini 3 pro and then decide if you use the drone more for FPV, or more for cinematic vids & still shots. It's a great all around first time drone and can accomplish both uses. Another consideration is that I feel the avata is a little more durable and very easy to get used to flying if you're just starting out. Have you ever tried the "virtual flying"? That app might help you decide which "view" you might like better as well. Hope that helps and you won't go wrong with either one. They are both fun!! Happy flying
Great video, very well put together. Now we are at the six month mark do you think it might be worth waiting to see what the next version has to offer? I assume the next Avata will have even more flight time that 18 min (10). Also that bit where your daughter was like ‘Jesus Dad!’ made me laugh 😂
Haha yes ! I can’t see a new version being released anytime Soon. The original dji fpv hasn’t had a refresh and that’s been put a few years now. The avata is a great drone I recommend it
I've been having a blast flying my Mini 3 Pro here in New Hampshire and it is the middle of the winter. I'm sure I will pick up an Avata at some point to do some cool mountain bike chase shots. Great video Darren!
yeah that would be great combo !
As an MTB dude with an avata, I approve this comment .. Go for it is a completely different experience from a regular drone.
@@ozielmelendez 100% will once the season gets going.
Thank you for the video. I’m a newbie droner. I have the Mavic air 2 and really enjoying it. I was hoping for goggles for my drone. I really want the experience of the FPV. I think i should keep my air 2 and just dive in and purchase this Avata. I don’t care about the noise factor if I’m flying it
What's nice about Avata is it's miniature but robust construction that can prevent substantial damage in a crash. The propeller/guards configuration, I prefer to think as multi blade ducted fans that improve the propulsive efficiency. Because of their smaller diameter, these fans requires a higher revolution as in a large 'Turbo Fan' aircraft which explains the hi frequency whine of this drone. It also provides better protection in a crash than the smaller DJI models. The structure around the camera (gimbal) is somewhat like a protective cage...nice!
With no screen mounted to the controller but a head mounted goggle puts you in the pilot seat!
It's immersive, intuitive.. the ultimate in drone technology! This I should think also excludes the annoying glare of bright sunlight. What would be a great safety feature is the addition of 360° obstacle avoidance sensors. No it would not be active in "manual" for those who dare to push the flight envelope of this drone.
The flight agility is amazing to watch...responsive & nimble! The specs. & menu option are many...impressive!
Avata is a drone that can if required be flight docile or flown aggressively which certainly has an appeal to both newbies & advanced drone pilots. It's like granny driving a Formula 1 in the city but a ferocious beast on the race track!
The disadvantage?
Governments see opportunity for $$$! Inescapable! Unlike drones weighing under 250 grams, this drone weighs in at 450 grams & requires the operator hold a drone licence with recurrent tests. This means paperwork, exams, fees...a forever headache! Could they have been more liberal with the weight restrictions? Absolutely in my opinion!
Although cheaper than high end DJI models, Avata price is likely outside the budget of most would be drone enthousiasts. A matter of choice versus budget!
Good luck!
You hit the spot !, hat’s exactly what I’m saying, I wish the FPV goggles will be compatible with the Mavic series , that would be perfect !!✌️😎👍, Awesome video, Thank you !
Excellent video !
Glad you liked it!
Great video and review as always. Here are somethings I'd personally like to add if it may help. I've had my Avata since launch, however DJI not having the Fpv controller available was a very big inconvenience. I ordered the controller in September and kept delaying the delivery until January before I canceled and bought a used one. Since Remote ID was implemented here in the states, you have to have your phone connected to the Googles. Silly enough, you even can't even turn off your phones screen without an error. And its a little cumbersome if you have a bigger nose while trying to wear the Goggles 2. DJI should have interchangeable pads for the Goggles 2. Again thanks for the review, but hopefully this may help others that may be having issues. It's a great drone.
Do you wouldn’t recommend buying the Avata with the initial controller that they offer?!
@@lt1306 It depends on what you are creating and how you want to want to use the Avata. The motion controllers are good for basic and some advanced maneuvers. And they now support the Mini 3 and Mavic 3 series drones(yes, finally!!!). However, I wouldn't use these for indoor flythrough or virtual tours. That's where the FPV controller shines. You have complete control over the Avata. I typically will use the Motion controller if you want to introduce newcomers to drones and the "FPV" world. I will use the FPV controller for those needed precise shots through limited space or when I need a little more speed with Manual Mode. I hope this helps.😁
I don’t think the hard 180 deg turn tumble has been fixed at least I still have the issue. Original fpv drone doesn’t have this issue. But for just flying around it’s nice to use.
thank for that good video! what you say at the end is what i want to have: a mini 3 pro with the goggles! 🙂
Absolutely yes
Hi bud. Thanks for the review. No mention of category for flying this. As its over 250grms do you need an a2cofc? Thanks again.
is controller from original FPV good for avata drone??? Or its a different one?? Thanks
Being a noob. I just ordered your M3P cheat sheets. Very helpful. I look forward to the AVATA sheets as I just ordered one it will be here Wednesday. I echo that other comment. I’m seriously concerned I have a drone addiction
thank you for the support :-) Avata sheets will be dropping soon !
Never tried it but would love too. Like # 19!!!
Awesome review Darren! You helped me answer my question of whether I should try to sell my DJI FPV and buy an Avata or keep the FPV. Will keep it I do like much about the Avata better from an overall viewpoint. Louder than the FPV? Wow, I think the FPV is loud! I always thought it unfortunate that DJI has not considered it important to provide goggle support for the mini series as well. They miss opportunities to sell accessories. Also I fail to understand why they don't make more of an effort for goggles and controllers to be usable for any DJI vehicle.
The fpv is very cool I love it as I learn to fly on this, the avata is more convenient but yes more of a screaming sound
I bought the DJI Avata this year and love it.
Love the areas that I've been able to capture and the audio that I sync'd with my screen share features.
Man, I should have bought this a really long time ago.
Thanks for info. Is it possible to use 2 googles at the same time???
Real life Bladerunner spinner!
Hi,I really enjoy your honest opinion , please can you do a pro & cons on the new DJI avata integra headset Vs 2 please 👍
hopefully soon :0)
So me and my wife just bought the DJI Avata Pro with the goggles 2 and the RC motion 2 controller with the DJI goggles backpack a few other things. I wanted to watch a video showing the details of it but also the bad and I don't see anything that I should consider with us buying this drone, that's bad I don't care about the noise because I'm probably going to wear Sony XM4 noise canceling headphones listen to Joji or juice wrld 😂 All in all I'm happy with this purchase And thanks for the video very informative. we also picked up a DJI Osmos pocket 3 👌
Looks nice, I have been thinking about FVP drone and actually only this one, would be nice addition for my snowboarding videos, using Mini 2 for cinematic shoots and than combination of GoPro (while snowboarding) and than action videos from Avata, wouldn't be so big so I would be able to take it with me in backpack.
what a combo that would be !
@@DMProductions yeah, not sure if I'll make it for this snowboarding season, even flying drone at high altitude while standing or sitting somewhere on the side of the slope is challenge so will have to spend some time learning FVP anyway. Great video and really helpful.
I still love my DJI mini2.
Goggles compatible with the Mavic - one day Darren, one day.... :)
Fingers crossed!
I want this drone!
Cool isn’t it
My major complaint about the avata is the wind ... It completely sucks with any kind of wind ... And speed .. I wish sports mode was after and not just when it's in manual mode
Man that drone looks like a blast. Lately all of your videos are getting me closer and closer to not minding being more poor. But Kristi still says no. Hahaha. I’m pretty sure I’d be crashing that little thing a lot but man it would be fun!
Tiny. Tough. & ...tastic! 👍
Great video.
I'm seriously concerned about my drone addiction.
me too 😂
@@DMProductions same :O
I haven't flown my Avata for a few months. Weather hasn't been the best, but also been pretty busy. I do need to go fly it. Manual Mode is a bunch of fun. I have replaced one Avata so far, due to doing a flip over a tree and not realizing how fast I was coming down ended up bottoming out into dirt and absolutely destroying my whole bottom sensor setup completely. It was pretty useless and didn't want to fly right at all, because the sensor couldn't figure out what the hell was happening. I spent a bunch of hours practicing in LiftOff and I really enjoy that app. The DJI APP that you use with the Goggles 2, kind of sucks! I do wish I could use LiftOff with my DJI Goggles 2! Now that would be super duper awesome sauce!
i likes dji especialy avata but in the end i choose other brand bcause of their feature like weatherproof and prices
For cinematic shooting I use a mini 2 and for fpv a shendrone squirt or a cine8 which is much much smaller this drones are not so loud. Also I saw that the avata has to be in sport mode to go trough gaps. Nevertheless I think its too expensive for what it is. Cheers!
Can u shoot vertical videos with mini 2
Hello 👋 I’m new to drones and have been looking at this model. Someone in another video mentioned that these googles 2 had to be hooked up to yjj oh ur phone with GPS to take off. Is that true? They mentioned the integra ones don’t have to be. Thanks
I've got the org fpv and I'm going to be buying the Avata but not the new goggles.
As a camera drone owner, I don't understand the complaints about size. Once a drone doesn't fit in your pocket, it doesn't matter. You're taking a bag/case/backpack with you. Is it really a big deal if the bag is a few inches thicker?
What about comparing rock steady on the mini3pro vs Avata?
question Sir: is it in the pipeline to have a mini pro+ googles ? (allinone) 🤷♂️
Just had a nasty moto x accident couple months ago, I sold my bike two days ago and I am looking to invest the money to buy an fov drone. I've wanted one for ages. I am gutted I missed the fpv when it went half price.
I'm just trying to figure out what will be best for me. I live in Devon so have lots of places to fly outdoors which is what I will be buying it for
looks amazing now i just need a 3D printer we good to go boys
Would changing the props to something compatible cut down on the scream?
Yea I wonder.. they can output the view on the DJI smart controller, just send it to the goggles instead! :) Would be a great experience.
I wonder is that loud noise coming out in every mode, also there are googles with built-in battery, probably this wire that hangs is annoying.
how are the goggles compare to the old white ones?
What's the maximum distance you can fly Away" from your original point of origin, and if you do go out of range do you lose it" or does it have a homing device and brings itself back to you.
It should return to home. You’re not gonna lose it it’s gps enabled
I'm highly curious to hear your thoughts and recommendations on the best entry level drone into real estate photography/videography. Currently have a cheap potensic to learn on and I'm studying for an FAA certification. Have no idea what to get for my next drone before I start taking gigs mapping homes.
hmm, being as you say FAA I'd get the Mavic 3 Classic it would give you the best quality. If you need the zoom get the pro
Get a mavic
Would love for you to raise awareness (if possible) to the fact that DJI doesn't sell replacement parts for the DJI Goggles. Lost your dettachable antennas? Too bad! No one sells them!
Try the Iflight Nazgul Evouge FPV at 100mph not 60mph like the Avada.
If anyone can chime in please...what are my other options for a complete beginner fpv drone kit?
I think it would be nice if the motion controller has two handle.
durable ,gps ,4 k cam, sup penetration!! no pun intended, long flight times, too much to list, am getting this bad boy.
Hi there Q? is your camera wiring is covered everything? Because I just got mine and is has some opened wiring and isn’t covered the whole thing. 😳😨😰
thanks for the info m8 new sub from us
Thank you appreciate it 👍
Actually easier to crash with the joystick remote as it's easier to commit a mistake. Fpv flyers usually already have experience with flying other drones/ dji drones. My recommendation is to get the fpv remote
So from a case, how fast can you get it in the air?
Hi, Darren, I have the dji mini 2, mini 3 pro, air2 and air 2s and use all of them for different places and situations, so as you can see, I do like my drones. Question for you is, on the Avata, is the manual controller better, or the hand held one ? I`m stuck as it`s no cheap and don`t want to spend a lot on one that I will have to change as a later date, I want simple to use and have fun with. Thanks, Dave
The game style console RC is better that na motion controller, i own many cinematic drone, mini 3 pro/mavic 3 pro etc..but no where as fun flying the Dji FPV and the smaller Avata.
Now that the mini3 pro has googles, would you recommend the fpv; or the avata? I’m not sure which one to choose I have the mini 3 pro thanks
Avata is a true FPV drone much better for fpv
Great video! Can I use the DJI Mini 2 controller with the AVATA?
Nope
🔥
Look at the Gep cine whoops as. Comparison much quieter
Great review, I am very interested in getting a DJI Avata, never bought or used to FPV drone before but am wanting to get into it as a little bit of a hobbie. Just a couple question I am curious about, what's the range of the drone from the user and can two googles be connected to it so has one person is flying it and the other is enjoying the view from the drone. Cheers.
I just bought one u get like 7-8 minutes to fly out and u have to keep in mind to bring it back so about 7 minutes back
Hi Darren
Do your left/right controls operate the same when the Avata is returning home, towards you? I.e Goggle view would be opposite when facing the returning drone?
have this for a month now. I noticed that the signal is gone quickly. very annoying. the wind is also a point I found out. I use the RC controller myself. not the motion controller. would you pay attention to liftoff? good video Darren
liftoff is great yes really good
Oh yes and the noise I like to be quiet and un noticed on many flights so that puts me off
My remote control don’t connect as easy as the motion control any tips?
Will the avata work with my mavic 2 pro controller?
I would honestly purchase this because of the controller and the goggles... The drone is like a reward lol...
I want to be able to use the headset with the Mavic drones till then I don't think it's worth it too expensive
Greetings from Germany. Your videos are amazing. Appreciate the hard work. I am interested to get the Avata for real estate, restaurants, warehouses and indoor flying for getting gigs. Please let me know if this is a good decision as I am not a pro pilot so flying in acros is still a learning curve for me.
Sure would be , you can fly it in normal mode whilst you learn
I just wish DJI makes remotes and/or batteries that can be used for all of their drones. But I guess that's how they make money.
In Canada they have a Keswick where i lived and they actually pronounced the ruddy W, it physically hurt me every time.
Looks like the Avata footage has really bad banding at the bottom of the frame when the drone is close to the ground traveling at high rates of speed. One of my concerns about this drone with image quality.
Do you got to have a licence if you want to fly the avata?
Can you wear glasses while using the goggles? Or are they too snug for that
Great points Darren, I have the DJI FPV from launch and just this week got the Avata, for low proximity flying around my local park it's superb and very durable, I had at least 5 decent hits and it's fine, super fun and intuitive then I had it out today up high flying acro and boy it does not like the wind, we had a good 20mph+ gusts and it was all over the place so I wouldn't be confident having it say up the Mournes here in Ireland or anywhere with strong winds I'd use the DJI FPV or Mavic 3 in that case but honestly I don't think I've had as much fun as I did yesterday flying with low proximity it was great craic, I can get the Avata into my DJI FPV bag, I went with the Avata only Skew as obviously have the other peripherals so I bring both along with me whenever I go out, I've also have my first job next doing a fly through of a local Fireplace showroom, thank goodness for Gyroflow, if you're on the fence about the Avata I'd say get it, best fun I've had with a drone in a long time.
thanks mate for the great feedback, wow thats great you had a job with it, the camera is good enough too in good lighting and gyro flow is amazing ! Hope it goes well cheers
@@DMProductions yeah I'm a bit nervous as it's my first 'flythrough' but should be grand, cheers Darren.
What’s your career?
@@Alpha-Scythe23 I've been a chef most of my life now I'm in Catering Management, why do you ask?
@@DroningaboutIreland I was just curious :) you seem like you have good experience with the drones so I just thought about what you do 😄
When do you think will we get an FPV Set for the normal camera drones like the M3P?
Exactly what I'm waiting for My M3P
I just got asked their support and the goggles are compatible with mavic series
its ok question asnwered in ur video lol
great video Darren i have a question i am flying with mavic 3 and mini 3 pro i make a lot of video's from kite en foil surfing so a lot of sports i the Avata good for this kind of video
i mean because you have more wind than normal what are your findings of the Avata Great work with all your video's Gr Hans
yes its not amazing in the wind, it can struggle a bit. The DJI FPV is stronger and handles wind better but tbh honest as long as its not more than 25mph you should be fine with the avata. Its better in the wind than the mini 3 pro
Hey Darren i bought the Avata and its very easy to fly made already some kitemovies with it
What a super drone is this
Its handeling so good in the wind and the video is amazing its Handling so good its like i am flying fpv for years
Thanks for the good vibes
Gr Hans
The Mavic series ARE compatible the the goggles!
Can you explain the rules on flying please ?
I just lost my drone the other day. Where can I order the drone only option. If anyone know please help thanks 🙏🏾
Paragliding does ;) 'Get close the thrill of an FPV drone' ...and blows straight through it. Requires an appetite for real risk, however
Absolutely but as you point out some risk! I’d rather be ground level or flying a plane - every credit to you tho the thrill must be brilliant !
Which drone do you think is the best on the market right now in 2023 for action sports?
Which FPV drone would you recommend for reduced noise that has the same toughness?
wheres his video on the dji fpv?
and here are the guys with their mini 3 drones...
who else is sick of hearing how good mini 3 is on every other but mini 3 drone reviews?
1. Why is no one talking about the small screen that you see in the goggles ? I had oculus Quest 2. And it is much more impressive.
2. Why we do not see drones with dual can. So we can get a true vr experience. This could be 100 times better experience!!! It will be so amazing.
Good video :)
