One trick I was given a while ago was to increase the saturation and sharpen my thumbnails slightly more than what I want the final result to look like because UA-cam has a tendency to decrease the quality of your thumbnails when you upload them, especially if you're trying to use vibrant colours (mine often ended up looking much darker than they did in my editing software)
Canva has changed my thumbnail game but it really does take practice. Its only in the last month that I feel like my thumbnails have started to work a little better for me - I then went back to my old videos, changed my old thumbnails and my CTR has definitely increased! Great video! As an fyi, you can quickly add an outline by right clicking the layer -> blending options -> stroke. The cool thing about that is that you can now drag and copy that effect to any of your other pictures going forward so you don't have to keep doing it every time.

I’ve been working in Photoshop for 10 years and I gave up on putting a border around myself because I kept trying to add it as a stroke using with the effect panel. Your method is so much easier and precise! I also love watching other people use Photoshop. There are so many ways to use the program. Your videos are awesome! I’m glad you’re back! I missed you!
Wow! That's a lot that you put into your thumbnails! I was wondering how you were making the outline. And good tip about the not-too-expressive faces. I agree. I would love to know more about how to choose the title name versus what it says on the thumbnail. I imagine you are quite intuitive about this by now, but I struggle to create good combos. I found this very helpful. One thing I struggle with is that the topic I cover is a common topic explored in family vlog channels but that style of thumbnail doesn't really work for what I'm offering. I remember specifically clicking on a video of yours for the first time because it wasn't the red white and blue UA-cam button type thumbnail that is common in a lot of other channels, which are also great channels. Your thumbnail stood out. I would love a video that talks about writing titles not just for the algorithm but for your actual audience so that people would want to click on them. The title is what I look at first and the thumbnail second.

I use gimp for my thumbnails, I'm glad you mentioned about the UA-cam Algorithm. Sometimes I looked up tutorials to improve on thumbnails. But took a very long time to learn

thank you!! I personally notice that I click on more thumbnails that are bright and have good coloring so I try my best to make them something that I would even click on 😂
Useful tips for sure... and you mentioned it briefly... but when you're outlining yourself... the layer masks really saves more time than not, as you can adjust the mask, and not lose any of the photo, as it's easier to remove/add to the mask than to re-edit the photo.
I have already learned so much from you, so I am ready to hear your new tips. I used to just screen grab, but now I try to tell a story and have my husband take the photos in RAW mode so that the emotions are real and so with the story of the video.
