*The walk through was helpful in choosing the keywords by typing and seeing the auto populate. I usually go incognito to avoid it being recommended on my search history and video views (keeps it less specific to me)*

I do the same thing, but I’m hesitant to target 🎯 terms with a high search volume because they will be competitive. What do you think?
@@AdamMellor1 I use VIDIQ and it tells you the competition. I've found some moderate volume keywords with low volume competition and am doing well in search for them! I also think making similar videos within that search term starts to build some "authority" and will yield results. I've found it just seems to take a few weeks.

Cathrin! I can only imagine HOW high the audience retention must be on your videos because I have not felt compelled to click out in a totality of 26 minutes - very few UA-camrs manage to do that, at least for me. That in itself teaches me so much about UA-cam and the way it works beyond factors you can control. Thank you so much for this video - it was an actual gold mine. Will now go back and listen again to make notes haha
I think she does too. Every time I click on one of her videos I almost always watch it the entire way through since I'm just waiting to get more and more good and new tips. Yeah Catherin and Annie Dube are great examples of how your presentation style makes or breaks your audience retention. It’s amazing how long this video was, but I watched it all the way to the end.

Good job with this Cathrin! I just made a video on my channel too about a similar topic...I think it's so important to help creators of all sizes and we need more of this kind of honest behind-the-scenes style video to show people how it's done. Creativity and innovation can be intimidating subjects but they don't have to be if we don't overthink it or try too hard. I love this quote: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” -Picasso.

I started my UA-cam channel three months ago and followed your advice (that you share so generously!) on creating thumbnails, video editing, analysing stats etc.. I reached 100 subs yesterday which is such a huge milestone for me!! My goal was to reach 100 subs by the end of 2020 so I’m really excited that I was able to reach it a bit sooner than planned!
I’m buying a Canon M50 this week (Just waiting for Black Friday sales) to take my YT channel to the next level.

I always was aware of what our most popular videos were and I also knew how to sort videos by most popular but for some reason I never did that on my channel. Having the videos laid out right in front of me in that order instantly triggered new ideas! Great strategy!

Cathrin, tell us how to help you boost your productivity per video. This kind of content is valuable. There is a reason most people do not offer it. I stopped the add blocker when I watch your videos. Hope it helps. And in case this is worth something to you : all of the adds were relevant to me because youtube's content tracker is on point. I actually signed up for one of them. It was a book on how to develop long term strategies for your business. You should create a PDF with exclusive content you don't post on the channel and e-mail it to people for free after they subscribe, post and smash that like button. It might make the numbers go up.

Thanks, u make a lot of sense. I found that in my videos, having any kind of TEXT on my Thumbnail does not help and sometimes makes it worse.
I would add so much text in my thumbnail, but now I focus on the quality of my thumbnail and colors to make it pop! Wishing you the best of luck in your UA-cam channel! My channel focuses on how to save money in everyday life and how to coupon high-end/drugstore products at a lower price.

@@NeverErase oh duh sorry lol, pretty much how I feel. Large creators have lots of videos and we only have a few to gather data from. I think that is why the UA-cam analytics can seem not very helpful at the beginning, because UA-cam doesn’t have a lot of data to give us.

I’m sure you probably already know about this but just an idiots outsider perspective... you should do your monthly analytics video as a live stream. That way you can still get the views that you already get but you can also take live questions via super chats from your community. It give you 2 great advantages. 1. Most importantly you’d be interacting live with your viewers. 1. You’ll be bringing in extra income from the super chats as people would have to pay to ask you questions.
And before you say it... YES ... you deserve that extra pay for all of the amazing helpful content you are sharing. You are by far the BEST most knowledgeable person I have seen doing content related to how to start up in the you tube space.
I know... I know... some random dude who only has 36 subscribers probably shouldn’t be recommending anything to you, but I just feel like as much as you know.. maybe you don’t know about this and I think it will only enhance your community.

Really dense, highly informative video. Your substance is what sets you apart from other UA-cam advise channels. They never share that much which is why I usually click out and do not sit down and watch 26 min with all ads.

Hello Cathrin - I don't know if you'll see this or not, but I just HAD to post and say a BIG Thank You!! So I watched this video like 3 or 4 times, because you showed so many amazing tactics that I had never seen before when researching. I spent over an hour digging through my videos, researching keywords, and a whole slew of other things. To keep this from being a book - basically, I have had a video on my channel that has been #1 on my channel since the beginning of the year. I love that video but could never create anything that got even close to catching it... until... THIS VIDEO!!
Basically, using the information I gathered from what you said here, I made an 'experimental' video... that's what I was calling it, because I literally put it together using all the tactics you described in your video. The keywords I used, the title, the tags... everything had a slightly different approach, simply because I wanted to see how these tactics would affect a video on my channel compared to my 'normal' ones. In just 1 month... no lie... 1 month!! The experimental video surpassed my 11 month long #1 video!
Now, I'm still a fairly small channel, but I have enough analytics to look at to be able to see - there was a CLEAR affect by using the information you shared! Again, not sure if you'll see this, but just had to say something JUST in case! You are fantastic and have taught me a lot through your channel... thank you for the blood, sweat, and (literal) tears you have poured into this! Wishing you and your loved ones a fabulous 2021! Hey Cathrin! If tags don't matter, do you think ranking in search relies almost entirely on the title and description now?
in terms of keywords, your title, description, and what's included in your video is what the algorithm is going to look at! but there are a lot of other factors that they take into consideration when it comes to what videos rank higher or lower in search

always have a running list of ideas! whenever something pops in your head, write it down! it's seriously so helpful for when you aren't feeling inspired
