I purchased this hoya about a month and a half ago and it's quite big! It is super rare here. It's still in its nursery pot and it's in a peat heavy mix so I am super careful with watering. I'd usually repot it, but my hoya is developing peduncles so I am holding off on repotting it until it's done blooming. Also, its leaves can get pretty big!
Im a new Hoya head! Thank you for beautiful video 🤗 Always happy to find more videos about Hoyas! I started to make more videos about them too on my channel 💚🌿
I learned the hard way! I'm so upset...i ordered a beautiful hoya macrophylla with four good size leaves and four new leaves. When i I repotted, I added a little water forgetting the dirt it came in was already wet. The four new leaves dropped off the following day! Thankfully two new ones are growing. I have been watching your videos a while and learned a lot about hoya care, especially because i love their variety. Thank you for sharing!
I love Hoya, and there are so many varieties and this one I could add to my wish list. Thank you Summer for creating this series I'm really enjoying each and every video, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the next plant is going to be.
There are so many beautiful hoyas including the macriohylla on eBay, mostly from Thailand. I'm concerned about their travel to the US but will try one and see how it goes.
How do I add the eggshells to this particular plant in my collection? Do I mix it in the soil or just sprinkle it on top? Also do I let the eggshells dry out before putting them in or on the soil??
Love your 365 series. Very informative but not too long. BTW, has anyone commented on how often you use the word Particular? I'm considering starting a contest to see who can guess how many times you will say PARTICULAR in each future video. 🤣🤣🤣. Keep the videos coming!
Thank you! I had never heard of Hoya plants until I purchased our current home; the homeowner left a very large one behind for me. I had no clue what to do then but have learned about them and I’m now a huge fan of Hoya. I recently purchased the variegated Hoya and it’s producing new foliage with leaves that are solid cream color and some that are pinkish with no green at all. I like it a lot but now I’m wondering if it needs some type of food or should I just enjoy it? I’m going to give it some eggshells. Thank you so much for this series I look forward to seeing you everyday👍
L Garden it’s likely a krimson queen hoya carnosa. They can have all white or pinkish leaves when they grow in and are fairly common. You can look up images to check what kind it is. But you should feed it the same way she recommended with this hoya. Check out her hoya care video, that’s also very helpful.
Hello Summer! Do we need to somehow clean the eggshells in any way? I do not have a microwave, do we need to put them in the oven to disinfect them? Also I have a very strange hoya that has different kinds of leaves on it,is that normal? it almost looks like tow different kinds of Hoya in one...
You know something about hoya that was in a terracotta pot and the roots are too well attached to the pot and want to repotted, with out breaking roots. ??
Do you think this plant would be sensitive to underwatering or perhaps more likely cold sensitivity? I had it on my windowsill. And just one leaf went super limp. I did repot it from its peat mix to a Hoya mix, but I was waiting to water it,
I recently got a Hoya carnosa just 5 days ago and because it is a fairly new buy I have not transplanted it into a terra-cotta just yet. So I guess my trouble right now is that the plastic pot is a 4 inch pot and the plant isn’t fully grown so I believe the size is okay for now. However, in this past 5 days I have noticed that the soil has stayed the same. It has not dried a bit. It looks wet. I have not watered it and I have not exposed it to direct sunlight either. Currently it’s been staying indoor on a north facing window and I just moved it to west south window with blinds sparsely open. I am worried on why the soil is not drying at all and am gravely concern that I might be putting this plant to danger. Please help! Am I doing things wrong? why could the soil still stay? Or could it just be that the nursery soil is too heavy?
Unfortunately mine is dying ! It has refused to recover from the long transit from Thailand! I have transferred it in pon but no chance ! It broke my heart
Can you talk about varigated arrowroot plant? Maranta arundinacea ‘Variegata'. It was soo hard to find online because people would confuse it with: ctenanthe lubbersiana, ctenanthe marantifolia 'golden mosaic', or other plants in the Marantaceae family.
As far as I know, I don't have a Hoya yet. I do have many baby plants I bought that I'm learning the names of--many of them turned out to be pepperonias.
It has been going around IG and youtube that people are using espoma's orchid spray and spraying it on hoya leaves. Does that do anything? Can you comment whether it is effective or should that replace fertilizing.
I recently bought a Hoya I believe it however is 3 different types I have one with hairy pink stems and pink/white green leaves. The other is dark dark green leaves brown hairy stem. And the final green spotted leaves and green hairy stem. Maybe I hit the jackpot hah
Most hoyas enjoy being pot bound in order to produce blooms/paduncles, sometimes that can take years...everytime you increase the pot size, the longer it takes to bloom because it focuses its energy on growing its roots and leaves. After it has produced blooms it will bloom every season, even if it goes into a bigger pot. I've had more success with this method.
Thank you. You have managed to help me with this hoya more than the last 12 videos I have just watched. 😊
Your video on beneficial insects via integrated pest management saved me! I have around 400 houseplants & had a whitefly infestation

She is a beauty. Thank you for introducing me ti her🌱💚
This one loves direct morning sunlight. 1- 1 1/2 hours and it grows like crazy.
Mine love direct morning light, they grow with such speed and vigor.
Thanks guys! I just ordered this one & was wondering if it liked the morning sun
Thank you for the tip about alkaline soil and oyster shell. I have used oyster shell on Pelargoniums for the increase in calcium that they like.
The leaves are so pretty. I've been wanting to get ahold of this hoya for awhile with no luck.
There are so many beautiful hoyas including the macriohylla on eBay, mostly from Thailand. I'm concerned about their travel to the US but will try one and see how it goes.
I will change mine into a terracotta pot. It's taking forever to grow. A leaf broke off but I rooted it in water. I was shocked!😄
Thank u Summer to this video.
Putting the egg shells in the soil mix or can you just put them on top and it’ll work down?

Hello! Thanks for the video. I love my hoyas, especially the macrophylla. Is it also called Big Leaf hoya?
You had me at “2 1/2 ft. from a southwest facing window” 👍😂 where are you located?
Stunning
Can you root and grow a tendril without any leaves on it when you break it? I never know that
Barbara B pretty sure you can, just make sure to bag the plant so it has extra humidity

I surely notice it! "particular" and "actually" .... use it all the time! haha. I'll try to temper but I need more synonyms!
Is Hoya Latifolia formerly known as Hoya Macrophylla? Thanks!

Thanks.... I wasn’t sure about my variety and the solid white foliage is all new growth.

What do the flowers smell like??
They grow here in Singapore!
If you give it higher light the leaves will get much bigger and more variegation will appear.
Thanks for the additional tips!
Summer Rayne Oakes Summer I keep it in backyard face to east, every morning from 7:30 to 9:15 get direct sun light, leaves get dark pink colour.
جميلة جدا ولون زهورها زهر حلو كتير
I use Osmokot for all my Hoya .
Still I can use NPK middle number higher for flowering ??!!
I just bought one from a reputable nursery and it is losing one or two leaves per day due them turning yellow. Help!
You know something about hoya that was in a terracotta pot and the roots are too well attached to the pot and want to repotted, with out breaking roots. ??
Do you know where one could get information on various hoya as in which ones are terrestrial versus epiphytic?
Do you think this plant would be sensitive to underwatering or perhaps more likely cold sensitivity? I had it on my windowsill. And just one leaf went super limp. I did repot it from its peat mix to a Hoya mix, but I was waiting to water it,
My Hoyas love terra cotta pot and I'm looking for this particular Hoya... its so awesome 👌

Maybe, add some perlite if you can't change the pot.
Also adding chunky bark, pumice or chicken grit will help aerate soil, putting in same size Clay pot would also help.

Want to see reviews, recommend all Hoya species, all clips like this Will be very good

When you say crushed eggshells, do you mean raw or can I use ones after peeling a boiled egg?
either is fine
I just got a white leaf!!
I have one, the color is yellow red

Is Hoya Albormaginata the same? Can someone tell me?

Really? You start with propagating?? How about LIGHT first??
