Thank YOU!!! I had to change a back tire and all of a sudden couldn't drive :( Found your video, AND the pin and low and behold it fixed the issue! Appreciate your assistance! Great video.
I’m glad I learned this about the rear tires. I’ve never replaced the rear tires, only the front ones. I’ve always thought the rear axle key had to be drifted out with a punch before removing the wheel. I’m glad it’s actually simpler than that.
Good wheel off and on video easy to follow , i use a heat gun on the dust cover the vinyl can get Very hot on the fingers the C clip can be a pain at times getting it off and back on - i plan removing the wheel to put tire chains on in the house where it's warm and can take my time the reason hard for me to hook them tight to much movement in my case
Thank you very much for the video. Just need to learn where to put the bottle jack to raise the mower to replace front tire on riding lawnmower. Grass needs cutting! Lol Yes I'm an old woman but not a dumb blonde. 😂
I got a rebuilt kit for both rear wheels and it had 4 large washers and 2 a little smaller and you only had 1 washer on each wheel. Can you explain where the others go?
Great tips but on my 160 model trying to take off the slip ring on a front tire, it won’t come off.. I even bought snap ring pliers, can’t remove it & with a screwdriver as well.., help please 🙏🏼!
Is there a way to position a lever so that rather than just trying to pull the ring off, you can use some leverage on the pliers. Also, maybe it's rusted on. Try some penetrating oil.
Thanks for the question. WD40 will not be effective in the long term to prevent rust and possible seizing of the wheel to the axle. Best to use grease or anti-seize compound.
You should be able to get an ignition key from your local John Deere Dealership. Home Depot also carries ignition keys, but I'm not sure how thorough their selection is. You can even find them on Amazon.

Question? It is ok to use w40 besides grease?
Thanks for the question. WD40 will not be effective in the long term to prevent rust and possible seizing of the wheel to the axle. Best to use grease or anti-seize compound.
my front tire is flat.. I don't have a jack ..I may need help!
Reach out to a neighbour and see if you can borrow a jack. Someone close by must have one. Good luck!
I lost the key how can I replace it 😢

I have a question what if you don’t have the key for the tire would the tire turn with out it
the tire would spin freely , the key insures the tractor will drive
Nice thank you... Four wacks and the f**king axle came out of the diff........
Sorry to hear that, but I'm a little curious. Why were you whacking at it?
