Thanks for the video. If someone doesn't have a tire changer you can take a jack (bottle jack or old timer bumper jack) and break the bead with that method. Place the base of the bottle jack against the bead and I jack it up against the trailer hitch of my truck. Breaks the bead every time.

    I enjoyed watching your video!
What helps me with getting the last part of mounting done is on the opposite side of where you are trying to get that last bit over the rim lower that part down towards the center. By lowering the opposite side and moving it towards the center you gain enough extra to make it easy to get the last bit over the rim.

That’s pretty clever and I hadn’t really thought about using the shape of the barrel of the wheel to give yourself an advantage. Good call!

It's important to get the bead(s) into the smallest diameter of the rim for removal and installation. Makes getting the bead over the rim easier as it literally reduces the required circumference tog et it done.

Taking a break from doing this as I type, it is rugged going. But the video proves its doable and some great tips, thanks for sharing.

DO NOT GIVE UP! It can be hard but go slow, take breaks, swear a lot, you will get it. Have you gotten the old tire off? That’s generally the easier part. And getting the first bead back on isn’t too bad either. It’s that second bead on the install that gets tight.

@@suburbanacreage Got the old tire off, stopped the bleeding on my fingers LOL , and the new tire is half on.
Taking breaks is the best part. Only 3 more to go after this. But very excited to get my little yard tractor back in action.

Jace you freaking sweetheart, making me cry over here man. Thanks for the kind words and glad you are digging the channel. Hey, since you’re new, here’s a link to my personal favorite video that did horribly and almost nobody watched. Again, it’s my current favorite but it just wasn’t received that well. Let me know what you think.

I have that HF tire changer as well.
You missed the best feature of the tool, as mounting the tire on the wheel is the easiest part of the process by using it.
May be operator error if you didn’t think so.
It really does go on so very easy by using that mounting bar you set aside.

Ok- gonna pay a shop to do this one lol. Bike tires are hard enough!

I don’t blame you one bit. Sometimes a tire shop will hook you up and just do it for you if you’ve bought tires from them before. You could roll up to the open doors of Costco with some cash and I bet one of the guys will just do it real quick for you too.

@@suburbanacreage I found a small garage next town over that said they’d install my tires (I purchased some real nice carlisle turfs). Should be fairly cheap! Just dropped them off. Great videos man very insightful - I’m in the process of doing a full restoration on a 2001 gt 225 that was actually in remarkable shape. Had the k71 transmission- a machine of this caliber would be pushing over $7k these days!
Edit: shop only charged me $30.

CUT OFF THE OLD TIRE, use any circular saw, or grinder, use a good sized pry-tool (dull-rounded), to hold the tire away from the rim... cut the bead Also, use a large CLAMP , to break the bead... no air (hand ones work good)
Lastly, use some motor oil around (both sides) of the new tire bead, and STAND on it to put it ONTO the rim, (one side first, clamp, use a rag to clean up the oil later) firmly hold onto something (pole, table) while you stand on it.

I have a full size manual changer. I welded up a small adapter to change the fronts. If I didn't already have a welder I would have bought one.

When I change a Lawn Tractor tire, I go ahead and spend a little extra money, and put an inner tube in. I have a lot less problems with tires going flat and they don’t need to be beaded on the rim, which can be impossible on an older tire, or one that got distorted over the Winter.
