I’m not sure how too word it exactly but I’ll do my best, they have massively missed the mark in two areas which I’m sure many others in the comments have brought up already well at least for the first point, the first being the animation and graphic quality this looks like garbage….plain and simple this is leaps and bounds lower then even WOL sc2, and the second is over all unit interaction this is junk guys…. It takes like 10x the amount of time a unit should too inflict damage onto others yet aoe units like the atlas/flame workers just insta blow everything up like a nuke…. Meanwhile my 30 lancers slowly kill 30 other mele burtes in a fight that lasts 3 minutes a move v amove… not too mention the units lack being fleshed out with mechanics that I believe make them more interactive too play and experience, I have donated towards your Kickstarter and truly and desperately hope this replaces Rts for the upcoming years ❤
They are in the uncanny valley of graphics and animations: too realistic but not realistic enough to wow you, and not abstract (i.e. pixel graphics) enough to let your mind fill in the blanks.
Im having a very mixed thoughts about some mechanics. It feels like things like infest mechanics have potential to be very snowbally, and can be very difficult to balance.
Disagree. I feel like theres so many active buffs and debuffs that a) the meta will take AGES to settle out but b) balancing will have more options than just "-5hp for unit" and they can tailor the balancing to more specific unit interactions or skill levels. Obviously i could be wrong though. Wont know until i play it.

their tier 1/2 roster is a little sparse IMO. I know tier 3 units are not added yet, but i hope infernals are getting another tier 1/2 unit as well. RIght now, vanguard has 10 tier 1/2 combat units, while infernals only have 7 (I am not counting brutes/fiends as separate units or the supply building pigs)
Honestly with my biased sc2 fanboy eyes this doesn't look comparable but i think it's important to try it for ourselves since maybe the appreciation will come from playing it, and even if it ends up not being for the sc2 audience hopefully there will be people who get into rts through it and grow the genre overall like aoe4 did.
Some insanely interesting mechanics. You can really tell this was made by some of the greats! Please just update the art style 🙏 Something about the coloring just screams mobile game. The screen cuts to SC2 made it even more jarring. great vid arty!!
Sounds like a Warhammer 40k copy cat in the way that you have demons, magic and swords in a sci-fi setting with mechs and machine guns. Which makes sense as that's what SC2 is.
There are some interesting mechanics in there (i like the dropship concept for instance) but it feels like zergs with extra steps... I'd rather it be its own thing tbh
Infernal is NOT Zerg. The most unique and core Zerg mechanic is Larva, which let Zerg create the wave of Eco&Army at its own adaptive rhythm. This part is not there at all. The delayed spawn is just a micro level of advantage on the money interest. Inferno is more like Protoss at this state. Maybe I’m wrong.
I read lots of comments comparing beta Stormgate to today's SC 2. That is not a fair comparison. SC 2 took years until completion and was very rough when in beta. If you want a decent quality game, then just wait until this one leaves early access and enters version 1.0. Compare it to SC 2 a couple of years laters and we can talk.
People aren't basing it on gameplay but how terrible it looks..I highly doubt the art style is going to change at all... people including me are sick of the cartoony looking graphics
I watch some zero space game play and was disappointed mostly with some of the game objectives (mining mostly them adding damn Heros, etc). I think it would be cool with just the army fights. But I'm rooting for stormgate. I hope it is all I have been hoping for
Honestly, it looks kinda bad. It's just a massive downtier compared to SC2. Everything looks off visually, even the smal details like the enormus shadow that some units cast. The gameplay looks best described as slow and sluggish. The animations look like something from WC3. And the creativity is just not there. It looks like a copy and a bad one at that. Dawn of war could make like 10 different and uniqe races and gameplay but I feel like they failed to even make 1,5 in this game.
If they kept developing Starcraft 2 this game probably wouldn't even compare but unfortunately IP like this will steal playerbases because they refuse to develop Starcraft. I mean even in the side by sides a game that is 10 years old still looks better. I get that they didn't have a massive development budget though and are doing their best but yeah they do seem confused. Like they didnt know whether to be starcraft or warcraft. Still will be a refreshing edition to the RTS scene and their map editor will give us tons of amazing modding options compared to the SC2 editor. I can tell already
I'm very concerned about this game. I'll buy it and support it but it feels like it's the same guys making this game that failed and made mistakes a decade prior when making games like sc2 and others. It's very difficult to catch lightning in a bottle to revive this genre.

I thought of Infernal's production mechanic as a Zerg Warp-In but it only functions in base.
Or more like buying mercenaries in the mercenary camp from warcraft 3, as it does stack but have cooldowns.
Meanwhile my 30 lancers slowly kill 30 other mele burtes in a fight that lasts 3 minutes a move v amove… not too mention the units lack being fleshed out with mechanics that I believe make them more interactive too play and experience, I have donated towards your Kickstarter and truly and desperately hope this replaces Rts for the upcoming years ❤
I lack the ”wow” factor. Where are these big and cool units that make you say ”wow” and yearn to try them out?
I cant believe after so many years every new RTS looks so lame. How is this possible?
They are in the uncanny valley of graphics and animations: too realistic but not realistic enough to wow you, and not abstract (i.e. pixel graphics) enough to let your mind fill in the blanks.
because they don't have any new ideas they are just copies of old RTSs.
Check out Beyond All Reason
@@MitchemousPrimeI did but didn't like the look. Looks like Legos
All of the units in this game look like shit compared to Sc2.
ARTOSIS!!!! OMG THE NOSTALGIA
I kind of really wanted the infernal units to chew on the other units more
*hearing Stormgate is in development* "hooray I can finally leave SC2"
*actually seeing stormgate in action* "back to sc2 everybody!"
No one ever truly leaves sc2 ;)
I think people would be wowed by BAR its an excelent RTS
Beyond All Reason is so good. I just discovered it and wow, first RTS that’s truly captivated me since SC2 came out. The controls and optimizations are very well done and intuitive, and the online guides are fantastic. I also love that 8v8’s are the most popular matchup 😂
@@MitchemousPrime its a very addictive game too. I was playing it straight, nonstop. I only stopped because of work lmao. I played probably good 100 maybe 200 hours. A little too early to say but I think BAR has the potential to be the best rts of all time surpassing sc2. For me it already did. And I am a huge fan of sc2. But bar is just better
@@salgarellius7434 I don’t think I’ll ever stop playing SC2, but I have a feeling the same will be true for BAR.
@@MitchemousPrime when you hear stormgate devs talking they keep saying change it up. Introduce the new generation to RTS. Stuff like that. But theh are making the same old game. Mostly 1v1. 2 resources. 3 races. Yada yada yada. BAR is on a whole new level. 8v8 each pñayer has a job. Similar to how league of legends has lanes. In ishtmus you can really, REALLY feel the importance of each player and the job they have. Jobs are 2xfront, 2xsea, bakcline, geothermal, economy and air. Each one has to fight so well. I have had the pleasure to play all positions. I love ishtmus that map is amazing. Anyway. bar made it. Beyond all reason actually made a revolution in RTS. And it made by copy pasting a game from the 90s total annihilation. Have you ever played that old game ?
@@salgarellius7434 I was fortunate enough to have had TA and a couple of the expansion packs as a kid. Played a lot of both of them until I got into Red Alert and Tiberian Sun. Then StarCraft after all that. Definitely glad to have a fresh RTS on the block again, cause you’re right, Stormgate feels like Warcraft. Slow, clunky, army’s just chip away at each in boring battles with dull animations.
Zero Space came out and just washed this game aside, I hope Stormgate can step up to the plate
zerospace is ass.
@@Midgar88 Both are a crap
@@boynextdoor1951very true but maybe one of the two will be less crappie lol
Looks like one of those TL threads about random SC2 balance mod has just launched a kickstarter campaign. Seriously, devs..
I see all of this and it just feels like a reskinned star craft.
oo 3 races
one is bio, one is tech, and one is mysterious.
BLEGH.
Thank for for the informations !
Really enjoyed these videos.
Is this video sponsored? It doesn't say it anywhere in the video or description, but if it is I think it has to legally? Just making sure, cause it seem skinda sponsored?
Not sponsored
Very cool.
So they've got not-terran and not-zerg, now we just need not-protoss
their tier 1/2 roster is a little sparse IMO. I know tier 3 units are not added yet, but i hope infernals are getting another tier 1/2 unit as well. RIght now, vanguard has 10 tier 1/2 combat units, while infernals only have 7 (I am not counting brutes/fiends as separate units or the supply building pigs)
This looks like Starcraft III with a worse skin. Not a fan of the science fantasy setting. The infernals mechanically seem like better designed zerg.
Sigh, this is just StarCraft with extra steps, isn't it?
nope.
*backward steps
Honestly with my biased sc2 fanboy eyes this doesn't look comparable but i think it's important to try it for ourselves since maybe the appreciation will come from playing it, and even if it ends up not being for the sc2 audience hopefully there will be people who get into rts through it and grow the genre overall like aoe4 did.
Why is this game SOOOO SLOW, units die too slowly as well
Some insanely interesting mechanics. You can really tell this was made by some of the greats! Please just update the art style 🙏 Something about the coloring just screams mobile game. The screen cuts to SC2 made it even more jarring. great vid arty!!
garbage game ...way to many copied units from other RTS .
So is that brute worth splitting? Or you should split before it dies to maximize efficiency? I don't get it ...
Isn’t it… obvious ?
yo icant wait for this game
Funny that now the meta is getting a conclave before an iron vault
So brute is like orc grunt, but with suicide broodlings
is it me or...this faction just kill the sci-fi ambiance. The mechanic seems nice but the artwork seem to be made for diablo
Sounds like a Warhammer 40k copy cat in the way that you have demons, magic and swords in a sci-fi setting with mechs and machine guns. Which makes sense as that's what SC2 is.
Sc2 is not demons lol but aliens
"If you squeeze your eyes and look to your nose, it kind of looks like Starcraft"
no? it looks like warcraft 3
@@moonashaagreed more cartoony like wc3
nah
There are some interesting mechanics in there (i like the dropship concept for instance) but it feels like zergs with extra steps... I'd rather it be its own thing tbh
Nice SC2 vibes.. Looking forward to play Stormgate soon!
I for one like this game's art direction more than zerospace's. It reminds me of good ol warcraft3.
Too bad the game sucks. But I am always happy to see that RT gets some sponsoring!:)
1:52 Reminds of a Promethean from Age of Mythology
3:30 aaand here's the anubite
I don't think there is anyone better suited to this task. You are the David Attenborough of RTS.
This race is by far the best one. IF they change these goofy ass names and make the game look a bit better maybe the game will work out
Wow, a lot of negative comments, am I the only one that can’t wait for open beta?
I watch some zero space game play and was disappointed mostly with some of the game objectives (mining mostly them adding damn Heros, etc). I think it would be cool with just the army fights. But I'm rooting for stormgate. I hope it is all I have been hoping for
Lol comments about SC2
This game is created by the same devs who created the core of SC2... LOL
ah yes, scar traft 2 my favorite game
@@bruhdude164 Sorry, fixed 🤣
Excited and optimistic about Stormgate. Enjoy these vids and looking forward to more.
Why is StarCraft two fourteen years old but looks endlessly more beautiful than this game?
Smaller team, lower budget and lack of quality decision makers. Probably a dev calls all the shots? Just a guess..
A zerg archon. Interesting.
I can tell already
artosis never played wc3 ? some of the abilities are basicly same
He's getting paid for this, obviously he's not gonna say that
why are there so few units?
They ran out of money and ideas 😂
I'm very concerned about this game. I'll buy it and support it but it feels like it's the same guys making this game that failed and made mistakes a decade prior when making games like sc2 and others. It's very difficult to catch lightning in a bottle to revive this genre.
SC2 was a huge success, what you are talking about ?
If anything it was last really successful RTS produced.
@@daPawlak and more people play and watch sc1. A 25 year old game, than sc2. And a wow mount made more money than sc2 did. Plus blizzard failed at esports from start to finish while league of legends at the time was a f2p game with constant updates then made tons of money and entered foreign markets while sc2 floundered.
Sc2 was at least better than D3, but alot of the devs working on sc2 were rejects that worked on other mid games or writers that couldn't make it in Hollywood.
Look at this game and it's icons. It would have been considered dated over 10 years ago. Even sc1 seems to have better soundwork than this game does.
@@marloncebo242 where do you get that stats? As far as I can check there are couple of orders of magnitude more active SC2 players then SC1
@@marloncebo242 That's definitely not true, maybe in the pro scene you could argue Brood War had more longevity, but in terms of total player numbers then SC2 absolutely has more players and always has had
its free to play. Also sc2 wasnt a huge success for blizzard. Ao3 way better thgen sc2, game was terrible after 2nd expac. only thing its got is loyal fanbase on copium, basically blizzard customers.
Still looks like a fucking disney cartoon. Broodwar will be the best rts forever.
Bump (funny how your comment has the most likes but it's at the bottom of the comments)
They said the lighting isn't done yet and it will look a lot different when it is. Alpha sc2 looked the same way
I know nothing of game design but it seems like that would be a pretty high priority to get at least somewhat right early on in testing, considering most other work done will be completely glossed over due to just looking like shit..
@@phosphate66Imagine you're making a game and you focus on making everything look really good before you're done with final designs. What if you need to change the design? Then you need to throw away all the work done for graphics and animation to make that part look good. Game dev changes designs all the time, so imagine having to throw all the finalized art away over and over again. It's far more efficient to develop something just enough to know whether the design is good than to overcommit on the art.
@@SuperGGnoRE The Design process on the units that have been announced is Done The Concept artist draws up a Variety of options and brings them to the 4 yr old that makes the decisions at Frost Giant then a model is created and from there the bells and whistles will be added after animations and mechanics
The concept of the races in sc2 is amazing, everything makes sense, lile yea i could see how a bug species could evolve into a zerg like race. The concept of infernals isnt as great
Agreed this games races make no sense. Sc2 will always have the most unique races ever to rts gaming
We don't appreciate sc2 enough, that's all I'll say, I can't believe how we let such a wonderful game decline so much, a shame
What do you mean I appreciate it fully no game has such unique races ever in history of rts gaming. This is why sc2 will forever be the best rts ever made and I'll still play it
pylon man!!!!
Yes
@@ArtosisTV i do love you by the way, your rage feeds me!
Thank you for doing this.
I became old and slow, so fast clicking on bruts is not what I want to focus my attention on. I guess I will stick with the rts I migrated to in 2021. Sc2 was a good game for me for 12 years, omg, what I run.
very enjoyable video. i enjoyed 10/10. no cap. but i absolutely hate the cartoonish graphics. i started Sc2 back in the day just because of the theme and astonishing design. played it a lot from WoL to Lotv. 11x master.
but stormgate?...idk. i will maybe try it out and probably not play for long.
these videos are really helpful arty. thank you!
Wow...
Starcraft really was the end of the genre, wasn't it. I mean, if even after all this time all we can really come up with is "more starcraft", what more is there to say? That's a little depressing.
I can't wait to play the game thanks for making videos going over both the races can't wait for the third faction!!
Very nice video! Cant wait to get my hands on the game
So how Artosible is this game on a scale of 1-69

Come on, did they really have to get "inspired" by WC3? As an RTS is a thousand times worse than Brood War.
I played the open beta..1 game . I hoped the graphics/art wasnt as bad as I saw in the videos, but yep Its exactly that. Im quite surprised about the total lack of originality - almost a poor copy of sc2 with warcraft 2 graphics. Sheesh.
