The Omega has the ability to reset a 24 hour day. So, all the previous resets Cage had was from after the invasion. When Cage, Rita, and J-squad go after the Omega it's BEFORE the attack so the final reset is 24 hours from the point of it's destruction. That puts the time early morning of the previous day when Cage was just arriving to meet with the General. Cage was able to reset the final time due to getting covered in the blue blood a split second before the Omega is completely dead.
@@Guardian582 That why they show him getting covered in blood and his eyes open completely black a split second before the cut to him on the helicopter,
This is my favorite Tom Cruise movie and I watch a reaction every now and then. I think Kristen is the first one to instantly realize the trailer saved their lives. Also, Emily Blunt is even better in this on a rewatch. She just went through it with her own friend, watching him die a thousand times, and her entire interaction with Tom is colored by it. She is so good.
Speaking of Cage being sent with a camera crew in the first wave, a similar thing happened in Normandy minus the officer. Robert Capa, a photographer on assignment for LIFE Magazine, was there to document D-Day, the largest amphibious assault in history. He was sent in the first wave and captured the chaos that ensued, snapping a total of 106 pictures. However, when he sent the film to the studio, someone tasked on processing the films made an error and destroyed all but 11 photos he took.

When Rita was first killed in Verdun, she killed a blue mimic and got covered in its blood... as a result, she relived the same day and tried to locate the alien 'Omega' to win the war... She finally won the battle, but the 'Omega' gave her a fake vision attempting to locate her and after she got a blood transfusion after her last reset, she discovered that her power to reset the day was gone. Rita knew that she only had 1 shot to win the war and did not expect that Cage would gain the same power in her last battle. When Cage killed the blue mimic, the 'Omega' reset the day... but like Rita, he discovered that he was now restarting the day using the Omega's power to control time... Basically, a blue mimic is controlling a part of the mimic horde, and when it dies in battle, the Omega restarts the day so that the blue mimic survives and allows time to continue so that it can win the battle. Cage absorbed the blue mimic's blood and because he has no link to the Omega, because he is human and not a mimic, he can restart the day like a blue mimic without the Omega being aware. However, the Omega could sense that someone is using its power to restart time and used the fake vision to lure that human out of hiding to reclaim its power to restart the day - it did that w/ Rita... then w/ Cage... But Cage realized finally that it was a trap. When Cage finally locates the actual location of the Omega and was able to kill it, he absorbed the Omega's blood this time and took its power, restarting the day one last time... The Omega was already dead before Cage took its power and died, so the final restart by Cage left the Omega without its power and lifeless - hence, the energy surge at its location in France when Cage restarted the day, which means that Cage is the Omega, but without a link to the mimic horde... Thus, the mimic horde collapsed.
Not sure that your explanation works for me. So, have a think about this one: The energy surge wasn't the reset by Cage (they wouldn't have been able to sense an energy surge when time itself was resetting), it was the energy released by the Omega when the explosion happened. Cage got the power to reset the day after the Omega was dead, because he was still alive (the water absorbed the energy from the explosion, but not the energy sent out by the omega to all of the mimics - you saw the chaos caused by the energy on all of the mimics and their surroundings, when the explosion happened). So, although Cage restarts the day to hours before the explosion and chaos happened in his timeline, the omega is still dead and has lost its power, because it died before the transfer of the power to control time and reset the day. This is because, there was a brief period where nothing had the ability to control time, which means that when Cage got the power it started a separate timeline, where Cage doesn't (and can't) reset to the Omega's timeline and when it was still alive. So the old Omega Timeline and new Cage Timeline overlap (i.e. the explosion happens before the point where the day is reset to). But he may still be able to reset the day back to the helicopter ride if he dies again...cue the Live-Die-Repeat sequel ????

This was a FANTASTIC reaction!! I cannot get over Kristen's laugh lmao lmao! So regarding the beginning - The aliens invaded and out of desperation, militaries around the world just took anyone who was even minimally associated with any sort of military. He said he was in the ROTC, but he was actually just 'a guy with an advertising firm' - so they took him for that job - to sell the war. Though he 'may' have gone through like the bootcamp or wtv, he wasnt an actual 'soldier'. He was taken in for his advertising skills. That's basically it. That's why he had zero fighting experience before all this, and that's why he starts off as what we perceive him to be a coward. At the end, they know that there was a huge power surge...etc, but the military still needs to sweep through all those areas cause they don't know what happened exactly, they dont know for sure if the aliens are dead...etc, they need to like, proceed as if the enemy is still active. Anyway, really great reaction, and love the Kristen and Hayley combo, hope to see more great reactions from you both again!
When Cage goes in on his own it's because he's given up on being able to save Rita (and perhaps can't stand seeing her die again). He accepts that she isn't going to make it.
In the last attempt, he was fighting the Aliens earlier in time. Which means if you go back 24-hours from the new day/time he died, then that would bring him nearly a day earlier than when he was brought back for the 1st 75% of his involvement. I am uncertain however if he retains the Omega's power to reset time upon dying. However, he could fix that whenever he's tired of it by cutting a vein then getting a transfusion.
I was expecting something entirely different when I first watched the movie. I've since watched it multiple times and thoroughly enjoyed it every single time. Thank you for this review!

I don't remember if it was explained in detail but I seem to recall him making a comment about being in Marketing. It's exactly what happened in WW2, though. The war effort was so all consuming that people with varying skills were recruited directly into an officers commission in order to use their skills for the war effort. Scientists became research officers, advertisers became propaganda officers, etc
23:00 Something i never considered about this final part of the movie. I wonder if part of the reason they got ambushed here, is because the day has reset from the guys killing an omega, but we don't get to see the resets? 🤔

How many hours of combat training did Cage do without stopping?

Tom Cruise burst out laughing in the end conveys so much in so little. It essentially means He finds her mask of harsh, intimidating, authoritative pseudo ego she's displaying as very amusing simply because he already knows the genuine, loving personality within her. He simply knows whats under the bonnet that the roar doesnt bother him anymore.
Did you notice she responds differently to him with his higher rank? She always used to say " yes? Who said you could talk to me? " With his higher rank she says " yes? What do you want? " he might have found that funny and laughed at that. He must have heard her say " yes? Who said you could talk to me? " hundreds of times.
Think there was a horror movie called Happy Death Day, same idea, protagonist gets killed, has to stop the killer or something. Also a second move was made.
Every time he meets her for the first time he has private rank, so she always says " yes? Who said you can talk to me? " at the end he has his high rank back so she says " yes? What do you want? " after hearing her say who said you can talk to me so many times, he might have thought it funny that she responded differently with his higher rank and laughed.
There is one explanation that I agree with, for the last time rewind. Initially, he got the power of an Alpha by mixing his blood with an Alpha. Just a mere nerf sensor to the Omega's time rewinding power. He still an Alpha that follow what an Omega wished he rewind into. At the end, he mixed with an Omega. He became an Omega, and can return to the point where he ideally want. He became the entity that can control time. This kind of entity must be outside the Time to be able to control the Time. The Time cant touch these kind of entities. That's why the former Omega keep being dead despite the time rewind. That's the most sensible explanation to it, that I read somewhere.
THANK YOU, CinePals, for reacting to one of my favorite films!! Am I the only person who thinks while watching this what kind of Black Widow Emily Blunt--reportedly the MCU's first choice--would have been?
My theory is the battlefield omegas have a 24hr reset and the boss omega had a 48hr reset so when he absorbed the blood at the end he reset his continuity knowledge to the beginning of the boss omegas reset. If he hadnt made contact with the blood, they still would have won but he'd have no memory of it like everyone else. Which also lends to the idea that the boss omega was also experiencing a half reset of 1 day, it knew and it send him visions to trick him as Like dr strange accidently trapping dormammu
@@Gurwinder1293 The day only resets when the Alpha dies because the Omega is resetting it. But if the Omega dies, then there's no one left to reset the day, which is why it didn't reset when the Omega died.
I doubt Cage still has the reset power. The Omega seems to have this "organic" ability and the Alphas/Cages are merely its triggers. Cage doesn't have the "genetic" ability to control time. My guess is the Omega is the only one that is not physically affected by the time loops, existing in a kind of protected bubble. This would enable it to remember all the other loops and "update" its Alphas after each reset with the memories. So when Cage got covered in the blue blood at the end and reset the day 24 hrs back (to where he was snoozing on the helicopter ride), it remained intact and dying of the grenade explosions. It probably expired while he was sleeping on the helicopter, ending the time reset power forever.
I like the girl on the right more. The one on the left is like she'll be playing with the dogs breakfast in the morning while reciting pompom dances from her closet trauma.
Why Rita didn't stick the thing in Cage's leg in the office I don't know. He'd have had the vision and then she could reset the day. They would have to anyway and wouldn't need to attempt to escape.
Nope. It was Edge of Tomorrow, with "Live Die Repeat" as a tagline. The director wanted "Live Die Repeat" as the title but everyone else - sensibly - told him that was stupid. When the first blu-ray and DVD release came out, they used "Live Die Repeat" though, and the sequel was called "Live Die Repeat And Repeat" but that was so poorly received because of how stupid it was that they reverted the title to the original. And the sequel still hasn't made it out of production.
The intensity of scenes in the attacks of the Mimics and the rapid fire gun turrets on the plane gliding on the ground, the explosions, the stakes looming in at every moment.... reminds of the scene in the Matrix where Zion army in those giant version exo suits with machine guns firing at the swarm of bots.
It's funny you keep bringing up video games. That's where the idea for this movie came from. The writer noticed that in those combat games. When you die, you respawn at a previous point and try it again, getting better each time. The DVD version of the movie is called Live, Die, Repeat. So, very astute on your part.
It's frustrating listening to the one on the right not understanding anything in the movie. I don't want movies dumbed down because people can't put two and two together.
i wonder now if he has an eternity of resets.......did he get that power so when he dies at 90 years old he resets back to the last reset? is he now immortal?

" he might have found that funny and laughed at that. He must have heard her say " yes? Who said you could talk to me? " hundreds of times.
Tom Cruise does Groundhog Day on steroids
Think there was a horror movie called Happy Death Day, same idea, protagonist gets killed, has to stop the killer or something. Also a second move was made.
Every time he meets her for the first time he has private rank, so she always says " yes? Who said you can talk to me? " at the end he has his high rank back so she says " yes? What do you want? " after hearing her say who said you can talk to me so many times, he might have thought it funny that she responded differently with his higher rank and laughed.
This Hayley Seat girl on the right is one of the most beautiful women I've ever laid eyes on.
Best live action adaptation of a Manga/Anime
Based on the Manga All You Need is Kill. Of course it's a good movie. It's the best live action anime. And people don't know that.
The best thing about dis movie is dat even if it was in loop they never repeat the same scene every scene was little bit different from previous ❤
Best Tom Cruise movie ever. It’s 10/10 perfect.
There's another movie called palm srings that's just like this except for less killing
Love this movie!!! 💘 Emily Blunt!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
RiP Bill Paxton! 💔💔😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
But if an alpha dies and the day resets then shouldn't it also reset when an Omega dies
@@Gurwinder1293 The day only resets when the Alpha dies because the Omega is resetting it. But if the Omega dies, then there's no one left to reset the day, which is why it didn't reset when the Omega died.
@@HarryK-ld2ed yeah I kinda figured it out after commenting that😅
I doubt Cage still has the reset power.
Watched it with my friend in cinema and boy was it an amazing experience.
The Loo: 🤣🤣 It's the Louvre( like you've). I didn't like the scene with the plane thing flying on the ground. It had way too much damage. 🤷♂
Love groundhog Day type sci fi action film
I just hope Emily Blunt's Rita character not be killed off like Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa character in Mission Impossible dead reckoning
they do realize not everybody in the military is an actual soldier right? 3:30
I like the girl on the right more. The one on the left is like she'll be playing with the dogs breakfast in the morning while reciting pompom dances from her closet trauma.
Remember, if he does not die that day the power is gone. So when he wakes up in the morning he will no longer have it.
You left out one of the best parts, “oh you mean sex, yes tried it…how many times?” 😂
These two really need to watch War of the Worlds!
Why Rita didn't stick the thing in Cage's leg in the office I don't know. He'd have had the vision and then she could reset the day. They would have to anyway and wouldn't need to attempt to escape.
Kristen is so adorable 😍
Love her to the moon and back ❤
I really like this one. You guys slowly catching on was so cute
Not all military are combat ready. PR, HR people for example don't fight.
I rewatch this film constantly lol
Guys watch RUSH please
The Original Title of this Movie was "Live, Die, Repeat".
I need to know now
There is a sequel in the works
I love this movie...
This movie is one of the greatest!
I am with you...the ending left me.....BLEH
If they wanted to, they could make a part two a free tool would just emily blunt.
TOM CRUISE = LEGEND
We need a sequel to this yesterday!
The Edge Of Yesterday
@@Steven-lb4bl Edge of Today.
@@antoniochasten3192 Live, Die, Repeat and Repeat.
I think he gets to reset every single time he dies, as long as he never receives a blood transfusion.
Oh My God ! Just show her(right) Acolyte already
I need to clip that jump scare and the laughter that followed! 😂
based on the manga All You Need is Kill, which was better than the movie, and the movie kicked ass.
афигенный фильм
This is a manga adaption btw for all the people that like to propagate the lie that manga/ anime dontt have good adaptions.
Loving Hayley in those videos❤
I recommend Tom Cruise again in Top Gun 1&2 & A Few Good Men 👌.
This is one of my most favourite Tom Cruise movies, alongside "Valkryie" and "Jerry Maguire".
This reaction has lots of cute.
Kristen has watched it before
One of my favorite movies ❤
I love a good genuine reaction
If you enjoyed this one i recommend "Boss level". Similar concept but more mature/comedy.
I was a big fan of the movie once. Emily was so alluring for some reason. Maybe it was time travel
