      "The Last Samurai" Tom Cruise acting at his best, playing a drunk trying to forget his past, with a long story of coming to understand your enemies ( Ken Watanabe ) enough to become one with them and to fall n love with the culture and a special Widow. You will understand the "specialness" part if you watch it. We'll all make a Tom cruise fan of you yet ! Oblivion after "The Last Samurai" !

    The look the sergeant gives Cage after the helicopter incident always gives me chills. When he looks Cage in the eyes he recognizes a veteran of hundreds of battles, someone who has lost so much. This film doesn't hit you over the head with it but it would seem Cage has lived that day hundreds of times, imagine living a year of battle, everyday watching people you know die over and over, the emotional toll.

I highly recommend reacting to more of his movies, especially the 2 TOP GUN films (which also co-star Val Kilmer), the 6 MISSION IMPOSSIBLE films, and 2 films he did with Steven Spielberg (MINORITY REPORT and WAR OF THE WORLDS).

    The chemistry was so complex in this movie! She had a feeling that he was falling in love with her and she knew that it was extremely hard for him to watch her die day after day. She too had to endure the pain of watching her boyfriend die over 300 times. Even tho they would technically only meet for 1 day, she found herself telling him personal things about her life, and the next day they would meet she found out she had told them these things. It kind of told her future self that this is a good man, a man she trust, and a man that is worth spending endless days with.

    So the reason why that last mission went so relatively well as compared to the beach was the fact that it was the first time it was being performed period. It was the first time for the humans, but it was also the first time for the Mimics. They were ready for the beach and they were ready for the route to the location of the false vision where they were setting up that trap, but they were not ready for the location of the Omega to come under assault. In every other time jump that place remained secured and undiscovered, so when Cruise and his Dirty Dozen the Mimics were at square one without a strategy guide or aim-bot to help them win while Cruise at least knew where the Omega was camping out at.
    Also you were right about the difference between the previous leaps and the last. In the previous ones Cruise had the blood of the Alpha in him, and the Alpha's deaths are what triggered the Onega's ability to reset the leap to the moment it chose. But after Cruise got the Onega's blood in him he was able to pick the moment, hence the new beginning.

According to timeline Cage defeated the omega before he actually dies for the first time in the movie (time difference of some hours, i dont know the exact time difference) so it simply puts him back by that much time difference back and therefore he ends up before he actually met the general

    Madame Cherry, what really endeared me to this movie is the ending reflects the self sacrifice theme in the movie. As Cruise wakes up in the helicopter before the final battle. He and the team end the war with no fanfare, or medals or accolades. He never meets the men and women that die for the cause. HE knows them so intimately but they don't know him at all, because they never meet. Cruise can only smile as he meets the love of his life but she has no clue who she is. We can only guess how he get to tell her. Another movie that cover this is, "Deja Vu" with Denzel Washinton. It's pretty good, but not well know.

    Immediately bought it on blur-ray when it came out.

    The reason Kage reset further is that the Alphas can reset a single day, whereas the Omega can reset two. Think of it as the Omega having a longer backup to change the events that lead to its death. Or having different levels of save states. Because Kage got the Omegas blood, he hijacked the time power from it, making it die for real. If he didn’t; if they just bombed it or something, the Omega would have reset two full days (back to when Kage was in the helicopter) and anticipated the squad attack. Glad you enjoyed the movie!

  • @mylescasey8914
    @mylescasey8914 2 роки тому +4

    Regarding the ending; Cage defeats the Omega, but he obtains the Omega's blood (again) and the day resets (again). But this time, since the Omega has been defeated, past events have changed.
    On this new day, he awakens in the helicopter, as if the Omega was already defeated and he was on his way to do something else, as there would have been no need for the general to send him to battle, if the Omega was already defeated.
    It's a unique time-travel premise that people don't really talk about: Using the future to change the past.

      so true , the only issue I have with this is the major glaring plot hole which is how did rita initially know her powers were gone cause you need to die to reset the day so there is no way she truly knows if she was out of the power or not.

    As for the beginning of the movie it's chillingly possible. The same thing that is a strength and quality of the military (discipline) is also its greatest weakness. Not a single person thinks to question the orders handed down from a British command regarding an American soldier. And the orders even say "he'll try to tell you this but don't listen!" as if that isn't an instant red flag someone's getting railroaded. But that nearly blind obedience obscures reason.

So, the exoskeletons they were running full-pelt in had to be non-metallic or CGI'd in reality (while in the film would have represented the fact that they knew how to operate them with maximum efficiency).

    I think he didn't chose the time to reset at the end. Omega was always resetting to the morning of the same day. And they went to Paris at the evening of the first day (when he arrived to see general) and before the next day's operation on the beach. So it has reset to the morning of his arrival to London, which was before everything that happened in the movie. And as Omega was destroyed it was last reset that was triggered.

  • @_nauticaldisaster_
    @_nauticaldisaster_ 2 роки тому +2

    I don't think he chooses the day at the end but rather he's when he kills the Omega it's a day earlier so now the previous day is reset. He always wakes up with the guy from Candyman calling him a maggot then they go war on the beach the next day. By attacking the same evening and dying that same night he resets that day, not tomorrow's. That's why it's different. When he meets the young lady officer that's before he even has the meeting with the general so instead of being sent to France to film the battlefield to help recruitment, he gets sent to France assumedly to cover the victory. Or maybe he just goes on his own cause who isn't going to fly to France to see Emily Blunt.
