- There’s no more dangerous game than Russian Roulette. One wrong move and the consequences are fatal… and Balloon Kevin knows it.
The real difficulty is that in the sort of game you see played in a movie, there’s no skill involved when a player makes that move. It’s right or it’s wrong, and it’s a combination of the highest possible stakes with the lowest possible element of human control.
According to Nick Berry of DataGenetics, a common job interview question tests the mathematical reasoning and probability skills of interviewees by asking them to consider an alternative, slightly more complex arrangement: with two potentially fatal chambers loaded, and after having successfully survived the first round of a game, does the player request to spin the cylinder, or do they just let it go? Does it even matter?
The answer is surprising, and the exercise is a lesson in how gaining a small edge -- or not losing one -- can make a tremendous difference. If you were faced with consequences this dire, wouldn’t you want every percentage point of survivability your math mind could muster?

There a Lucky Luke comic in which Luke goes to a town where everyone is obsessed with gambling. For reasons, he ends up wrongfully imprisoned in the town jail. The jailor is an old man who asks Luke if he wants to play Russian roulette, which is his preferred game of chance since he believes it's impossible to cheat at it. Luke agrees and the jailor goes first, survives and hands Luke the gun. Luke then immediately makes sure the bullet is aligned with the barrel, points the gun at the jailor and demands to be let free.

If the needle dart would hit a vital place... Even a nerf gun can kill... If it had enough punch the needle could pierce your skull and lead to brain damage, the propabilidty for that is low but not non existent.

I remember playing this when I was 9 years old with my cousins. I had a nerf gun (strongarm, ig that’s its name) and I lost all of the bullets except 1. It was fun to see each one of us getting scarred for our turn.

if have 1 bullet u can take chance at going the 2nd round with no spin wich will give higher odds
if with 2 bullets u are better off rolling in the 2nd round
If you have 1 bullet you are better off spinning, the only way it’s better not to spin is if they are adjacent
You can calculate the random position 2 bullets choice much easier, because you know that after the first shot anything can come except the empty position that you fired already. This means that there are 2 bullets and 3 other empty ones, which is 3/5=60%.

It stands to reason. The previous trigger-pull "used up" one of the possibilities without a chambered round, so there are now only three remaining, vs two with rounds. Re-spinnning brings that one back into play again.

Play in a group of six with yourself included. Sit next to the person who goes first and go the opposite way so you’re last. If someone loses before it gets to you then good job, but if no one gets shot, pull out the gun you brought with you and shoot everyone else

Keeping things smaller is a good way to make differences more apparent as the differences seem less and less apparent the larger you get.
For example, if you're playing with a revolver with 2 chambers and 1 bullet loaded, your first shot chance of surviving is 50%. If you don't spin, your chance of survival is 0% while spinning resets you back to 50%.
A good way to think of it is like a bag of marbles where green marbles are empty chambers and red marbles are full. If you have a bag of 5 marbles with 1 red and 4 green, you initially have a 80% chance of surviving. If you pull a green marble out of the bag, your chances drop to 75% (1 green, 3 red), then the next pull is a 66% (2 green, 1 red), then 50% (1 green, 1 red) and then 0% (0 green, 1 red). By "spinning", you place all of the green marbles back into the bag and increase the ratio of green to red marbles which increases the chances of getting a green. If you pull a green marble on the first try and your odds decrease to 75%, "spinning" will put the green marble back in and reset it to 80%.

Also, which way does the cylinder spin? Is it counter or clockwise? You have to keep that in mind as well, because if you have 2 rounds in, say #1 and #5, and it clicked on the 4th, then don't start thinking: oh, it will click in 3rd, even though the cylinder rotates clockwise.

Wouldn’t it be a 3/5 chance to succeed and a 2/5 chance to fail if you don’t don’t spin when they are adjacent? When a shot is fired and you don’t spin, it completely removes that chamber from the process because it would be impossible to get that chamber again, making 5 total chambers, with 2 loaded.
