Coming from a fully loaded 2017 Youkon Denali XL and having driven the 2019 Odyssey Elite for 7k miles in 4 months this van is a dream for our family.
Thanks for the comment. We had a 2011 Escalade ESV before our 2014 Elite, and the van Is much more kid friendly, however there are times I miss the towing capacity of the truck based SUVs.
@@AS-if1ri lmao my relatives had 2018 and up all reliable this Wednesday we’re going to see 2019 one if it wasn’t reliable my dad wouldn’t got the 2016 one 4 year ago and that still reliable
The comment about the side door blocking the fuel tank access, don’t know about the rest of the people but how often do I want my kids loose around a gas station.
We do lots of road trips, both kids in the second row are in car seats, so I I can’t start pumping gas until I get the kids out and shut the door
@@Myksgarage just putting this out there. Isn't there a door on the other side that those kids can get out of? Also if your the one dealing with the kids then you probably aren't pumping gas while doing so. Just saying.
Why don’t you custom make a mini van for yourself and stop complaining about every single thing on this mini van.
Myks Garage, is what do you do with your kids while you’re pumping gas?
I have opened the gas tank and forgot and tried to open door and had it jam- stupid design. Unsafe if fire happens at gas station. Teach your kids to evacuate thru front doors. Don't listen if you don't want other's opinion you brats! U r whinning about him but r somehow better than him?
I own a 2019 EX Odyssey and I loved everything about it!

Nothing is perfect.. Probably watching his review you've got into shock??? This guy is very observant!! LOL>>> I am too.
Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to make this review. There's a fine line between something that's going to work in theory vs practicality and most car reviews from dealerships and paid sponsors of course point out all the great features that a vehicle possesses (in theory). As I was reading through some of the comments on here, I couldn't help but wonder if these people understand your intent of the video. Thank you again for making this video as it helps me out in deciding whether or not to upgrade to a new vehicle.
I appreciate your positive comment, I’m glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching
@@Myksgarage and Bob Hong, you got it right. The purpose of this video isn't to whine or gripe (like some other comments think it is), but is instead EXACTLY what I was looking for. We were looking into buying a used 2018 or 2019 Odyssey Elite because of the ventilated seats, but the practicality of a lot of the changes Myk pointed out are well-heard. Greatly appreciate the honest video! I too agree wireless charging is pretty useless as I don't know anyone who is rich enough to not have a case on their phone and risk it breaking all the time. I'm tall, and will sit in the back to play with kids sometimes and don't want the A/C vent just turning my knee into an icicle. Also agreed the vacuum isn't going to work. It works for spilling a giant pile of crackers/crumbs, but you're not going to get your interior "clean" with this housed vac.
This is one of the best review I have seen for a longest time. We need more of your type of honesty long term review on all the cars. Most of the people just keep saying good things about their cars and neglect all the daily problems. I hope I see more of your reviews! Maybe switch to a Sienna? I think minivan second roll should be able to move further back so that it can turn into a more comfortable ride for 4 adults in the van.
Thank you for the comment, I’m glad you appreciated this. These are the things I wish I had known prior to purchasing. I’ll try to get my hands on a sienna and Pacifica for a comparison.
In the Honda Odyssey you can move the second row back or forward to have more or less legroom.
We upgraded our 2012 Odyssey with the 2020. We're super happy with it! We decided to go with the EX-L w/Navigation instead of the Elite or Touring, just adding preferred upgrades.... for some of the reasons you mentioned. We still spent 46k after it was all said and done, but got what we wanted. Basically, we have everything the Elite has minus (the vacuum, cabin camera, phone charger pad, and the 19in wheels) We also added some Trem features that look really nice! I agree with you about the Auto start/stop feature... not necessary. I always turn it off, too. Some of the other stuff you mentioned like (back vents, power adapters, gas cap/door issue, cruse control, and auto wiper) doesn't bother us. Thank you for taking the time to do this video.
Thanks for watching.
Finally, someone mentions the horrible placement of the new, rear AC vents.
Thanks for watching
I agree that’s a downgrade and the blower also is loud when you increase the fan
I own a 2016 and I think lots of your comments are valid, but really this car offers lots of great things. Not sure the issue is with the 2019 but with you buying a new vehicle for no good reason...I have had my van and no issues so far very happy with it.
You’re right, there was no good reason to buy this vehicle. Thanks for watching
I own a 2014 odyssey. I was about to buy a 2024 elite but thank god I saw this video. That gas filler thing turned me off. Let ma wait for the 6th gen
Yeah good choice!!
@ I might buy the 2025 model still depends if I get a very good deal on them while the all new model comes out. It’s about time for an all new model. It’s lagging behind the Sienna for sure.
The wiper setting you’re trying to use for the “ rain sensing” is actually the TIME between each time the wiper will move. Not stronger sensitivity.
It is actually rain sensing, when enabled in the settings. It is time-based, when the rain sensing option is disabled.
Whatever it is, it doesn’t work well
I have 2013 Toyota Sienna Limited AWD and absolutely love it!
Did you buy it new?
Myks Garage Yes, I did. Six year and more than 100,000 miles later it feels like it’s just getting started.
This is an excellent review. I think it's the best review of the new Honda Odyssey on UA-cam. Thanks for putting it up. I have a 2018 Odyssey EX-L and sometimes wondered if I should have gotten Touring or Elite. After watching this I'm glad I stayed with EX-L.
Thanks for watching, glad this was helpful
I own an Odyssey 2003 model. Done 145k miles so far. Absolutely reliable and lovely vehicle. All these years , I have changed the timing belt once , in 2018 after 125k miles, changed brake pads thrice , tires twice , wiper blades more than 5 times and other usual stuffs like oil change , air filter change etc ..
Other than these vehicle is a gem. Still reaches 0-60 in under 8secs
Sounds like you have a keeper!
@@Myksgarage
Nope. I am the only guy who maintaining it. I am an IT professional having little knowledge about automobiles.
My dad had a 2000 LX. man that car was awesome
The driving dynamics alone coming from 2014 to 2019 is worth the upgrade. Night and Day.
I wouldn’t say night and day difference, probably 20% better
i would agreed, 2014 generation is the worse handling out of all the generation, been a odyssey owner since 1995.
new one come close to 2008 generation in handling
rcguyz nice vehicle family vehicle good mpg reliable smooth driving reminds me of my cousin 2019 Honda ridgeline
One more thing Honda should think about more is that Honda only included the steering wheel on one side. That means if you want to drive the car, you can only do it on one side.
Do you mean they don’t make it in a right hand drive for countries who drive in the left side of the road?
@@Myksgarage I think it was a joke to your complaints on __________ being on only one side
If you don't like the adaptive cruise control like I do not then press cancel & the right button right next to it (that adjust the distance between you and the car in front of you. ) hold those and adaptive cruise will switch to regular cruise control.
Good tip!!
Nice review of the nitty gritty of everyday ownership of this van. Gives an idea of what it is like living with it everyday. I don't think any of your negatives would be deal breakers for me but it would help me buy the lower trim level for sure. The gas door and passenger door problem happens on all vans. I was once gassing up the van when a passenger opened the side door and damaged the fuel door denting it.
Thanks for your comment!
You can switch to a regular cruise mode by pressing and holding the button to adjust the distance between you and the car in front of you.
👍
Great real life review from an owner. Your remarks make a lot of sense thanks.

Good honest review of features. I went with a new EX-L back in 2015 and don’t regret it. Plan on keeping it until at least 2025. Don’t think the extra features are worth the premium prices for the touring models. While watching this I kept wondering why you upgraded to the newer model after 5 years. Thanks for explaining your rationale at the end of the video.
I shouldn’t have upgraded, it was a mistake
Thank you for your honest review you been really helpful and appreciate what you do.
Thanks for your encouraging comment!
I agree with your comment about the rear window lock, I too have been complaining about this feature for years. This is my third Odyssey and I'm considering getting a 2020 in the spring. Thank you for this honest and refreshing review.
Glad this was helpful, thanks for watching!
The reason why it functions this way is because Honda is trying to save you and expense down the road. By using the lock, they shut off the actual relay that controls the lock so that when kids continue playing with the switches it doesn't burn the relay forcing you to spend $$$ on disassembly of the door panel and relay replacement. I do agree that it makes no sense that they'd lock out the front passenger as well though.
@@aeiplanner Your explanation does indeed make sense. I don't know how VW does it, but I also drive a Golf and the same rear window locking feature doesn't cut off the driver's control over the rear windows. It's not a major hassle, but it's one of the little things that undermines the Honda experience for me. I could also talk about the counter-intuitive and very unfriendly entertainment system in all 3 Odysseys I've owned so far (2015 being the worst), but that's a discussion for another post!
I live in Ogden and i was debating between the odyssey and the sienna, now after watching this video I’m buying the sienna se . Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching! I’m glad this was helpful. How do you like the sienna?
We have the 2019 EX-L , 30,000 miles, and are very happy.
We did start having a lot of warnings flash about transmission, engine, parking brake, etc. upon startup. Come to find out it was the battery. Replaced under warrantee. The batteries in these vans do not last long. New ones have AGM batteries, which are more robust.
Don’t be surprised if your Honda’s battery does not last more than 2 years.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the review. I ended up going with an 2019 EX-L and was able to get it OTD for $36,300. Glad I didn't pay the premium for an Elite.
You made a better choice than I did,.
Just wanna say that one of the difference between ex-l and the elite and touring is those upper trims have the Honda made 10 speed transmission while the others get the 8 speed ZF tranny. It’s not just the features but that a lot of reviews says that transmission is worth the upgrade.
I believe the ZF tranny is 9 speed but good point. We are leaning towards the Touring or Elite for the Honda made reliability.
Owen Unas in 2020 odesseys all trims are 10 speed.
Excellent, honest review! Honda needs to hear from actual owners like yourself, but which I don’t think they value very much. Considering buying a used 2019 EX-L, so this review gives a lot to think about. Thanks.
Thanks for your positive comment, I'm glad you found this helpful!
You can make the Cruise control work like a regular cruise control, all you do is without having the cruise set, press and hold the gap adjustment button, you should here a long beep and where the gap adjustment usually shows up on the center screen will show cruise control in a little gray box, the adaptive spacing will be disabled but the emergency braking will still be active, you've probably already figured this out with it being several months later but thought I'd try to help you anyway.
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for this review, i was between getting a used previous gen vs the new one like yours. It was good that you did note that u came from a previous gen elite. now i’m leaning toward a previous gen to save some money.
That’s what I would recommend, I don’t think the options on the new one is worth the price.
Try the vehicle your thinking on buying. I wouldnt buy any vehicle based on this type of review. If it gets into personal taste or preference then its not valid.
It does have normal cruise control, press and hold the right button on the d-pad and it will switch to a more conventional setup.
I will try it, thanks!
The adaptive cruise can be set to operate like the earlier cruise controls without the adaptive function. Check manual or iTunes.
Thanks for the tip!
We have a 2018 that was also the new generation. My wife loves it and tells me so almost everyday we drive. The two things I don't like is the OEM tires dry grip and the safety system comes on a little to soon. My cars are V8 truck's and Mustang so a Minivan isn't my thing, but I am very happy that my wife loves the Odyssey.
Thanks for watching!
Love the honest details in the review. You definitely helped in my decision making on an odyssey.
Thanks for watching!
We have the EX-L, which doesn't have most of options you complained about. But I love the lane keep and especially radar cruise control. It's not perfect but makes interstate miles fly by.
Thanks for watching
Yes, I even jam a plastic water bottle into the steering wheel and it's enough to think my hands are on the wheel so I never get the steering required warnings. Awesome for long trips!
Now I have a 2023 Odyssey EX-L that I bought in January, it is a replacement for my 2018 EX that I bought new in 2018. Last year a young man ran a red light and totalled my 2018 which only had 28,000 miles 0n it. It took me 4 months to get my 2023 because of the availability. I'm satisfied with the new one.
What's different 2018 vs 2023?
@@Myksgarage a couple different options I guess
What happens if someone accidently opens the sliding doors while gas is being pumped ?? While driving on trips we usually fill the gas and passengers can have a Biobreak during that time ,
I don’t think the door will open if you’re refilling with gas. Which is an inconvenience
I'm looking at buying a 2019 and almost took it off my list due to adaptive cruise control. So glad you added this comment!
Thank you!
I know its been three years, but you didn't sound negative at all. After having the vehicle for 10 months, your view and feel is REAL! Your family and you are the true test! Does it meet the expectations, needs and daily user friendly and innovative! You did an excellent job of sharing you and your family's experience. Engineers will listen to the end user. Functional equal value from the customer and that will increase profits! Sometimes on paper it looks practical but when in real use, the functionality become more and more apparent! Thank you.
Thank you for the positive comment!
Thank you. Does the darker paint affect inside cabin temperature much on warmers days or it doesn't bother you and the kids?
The A/C in this vehicle sucks!!
It was 92 degrees yesterday, it was on max cool and still wouldn’t keep it icomfortable. And I have ceramic window tint
Did Honda resolve the premature 100,000k miles transmission failures on the Odysseys?
I’m not sure, we’ll see how long this new 10 speed transmission will last...
This is the Odyssey reviewing the owner. He has a lot of room for improvement.
Yes
Can't help but notice that the interior is already looking pretty funky. Too many kids tearing it up.
thanks,i was going to upgrade from my 2014 but only have 50k on it so will keep it for now
I wish I would have kept my 2014!
Look at the Chrysler Pacifica limited. It came down to the Odyssey and the Pacifica, for us. We went for the Pacifica. We love it.
Why the heck dont the 2nd row seat backs fold flat? This is a big disappointment for me.
Exactly! This Van has some short comings
If you pop the fule door first the sliding door will still open but stop before it hits the fuel door.
I better try that, thanks for the tip
It doesn’t on mine... 2019 Odyssey Canadian version called the Touring here.
Thanks for doing the video. It’s a great bonus that you’re comparing the 2014 to this one.

Hi Myks, i think you did a very good job in this video. I have a 2015 Odyssey and it's a good minivan. We got the 2nd lowest trim (I forgot the exact letters lol)
So after watching your video it, and for practical and financial reasons, my plan is just to use until forever.
All your observations are reasonable and relevant, as the van pertains to YOUR needs and wants.
Thanks for watching and for leaving a positive comment!
@Mohamed Bekdach I think so, thanks!
You can have regular cruise control. Just hold the button down that controls distance for the ACC and it will switch to regular cruise control.
Thanks for the tip
How about noise cancellation work for this van? that is mean reason I am deciding buy or not
Like road noise? Road noise is probably 15-20% better than the previous generation, which is nice. It might also be the tires too, this odyssey has nice Bridgestone tires, I had cheaper ones on my other van. FYI, it doesn’t cancel out the kids yelling and screaming from the back! 😱
Thanks for the honest review, based on your experience I don’t think the upgrade to Elite is worth it and I should save 10k and go with the EX-L
I think you are on the right track, we regret buying the Elite
They are doing Elite's for 40k right now and I'm thinking about getting one. I like Elite for the wheels, led headlights and the heated and cooled seats. The ex-l's with the RES are going for about 37k
@@sixsixST2 I think OTD you're still looking at 44k+ for Elites (at least on the Odyclub forum). You can get LED headlights for $40-60 on Amazon. I don't want the RES, I have Kindles I picked up for $40 with digital downloads. Cooled might be nice - EX-L does have heated seats (but not steering wheel).
Just wanna say that one of the difference between ex-l and the elite and touring is those upper trims have the Honda made 10 speed transmission while the others get the 8 speed ZF tranny. It’s not just the features but that a lot of reviews says that transmission is worth the upgrade.
how reliable are odysseys?thats my main concern im just a single guy and can save some money as compared to toyota which is expensive but very reliable.
I guess it depends.....I sold this car after owning it for a year
We bought a 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite and couldn't wait to get rid of it. Six months later we sold it to CarMax and bought a 2020 Subaru Ascent. Yes, we gave up some storage space, but the Subaru Ascent is a much better vehicle. Our main complaints were the adaptive cruise control on the Honda is very sluggish, the auto dim feature for the headlights only works when you are traveling above 45 mph (useless for us on the country roads where we live), and just the overall driving experience. The cabin watch feature was nice (we have 5 kids), but this wasn't enough to get us to keep it. One very bad safety feature is the auto closing rear tailgate. If you start closing tailgate using the foot sensor, the tailgate won't stop if you are leaning into the vehicle. This could trap a small child if they accidentally active the tailgate. If you are deciding between the Honda Odyssey and the Subaru Ascent, definitely get the Ascent.
Thanks for the info, we are not happy with this van either. Our next vehicle will be the Tesla model X
Myks Garage Can't wait to see that review!!!!
If the fuel door was on the other side wouldn’t that door opening also cause the same issue? Didn’t the 2014 do the same thing???
I'm not sure
Hold in the distance button on adaptive cruise for 2 seconds and will switch to regular cruise mode.
Thanks for the tip
No worries, I sell new Honda's daily.
You can also pinch & zoom on the Cabin Watch, maybe giving you a bit more detail.
I have an 2019 odyssey as well. it does have regular cruise control, just press and hold the button to the right of cancel (adaptive cruise button) until it beeps. My main complaints for the 2019 odyssey are that there is a lack of USB ports in my EX model, the tailgate doesn't open very high (I'm tall) and its a bit small inside compared to our old town and country. but its a pleasure to drive and way more reliable so far (40 000km) than that Chrysler product ever was.
Thanks for watching
I’m getting a 2021 EX-L in a few days, upgrading from my 2016 touring (getting the EX-L because it costs less and the main difference is the RES which we don’t need anymore) pretty excited for it! EDIT: we didn't end up getting the new one, as the dealer was giving us a bad deal, so we'll be sticking with our '16!
Nice, EX-L is the sweet spot. Elite trim is a waste of money
@@Myksgarage funny story... turns out the dealer wasn't giving us the deal we wanted, plus we only had about 12 months of payments left on our current car. For now, we'll be sticking with our 2016 touring :)
When you open the sliding door to any minivan it is going to block the gas cap.
Yes, I am now learning this....
Its a safety feature. Imagine someone pumping gas and opening that door. You will either damage the door or knock the gas pump out of the filler neck. On our 01 DGC if the gas door is open, we can't open the slider door.
The adaptive cruise control can be disabled from inside the settings (Middle screen). you end up with a classic cruise control with no adaptive capabilities.
the rain sensing wipers work OK. might have to get your's checked by dealer, ask them to review it.
Thanks for watching
Currently in the market for a minvan , what's your best advice?
I sold my Odyssey a few months ago and bought a Tesla Model X, which we love. If you’re looking for a new one, I’d say Honda or Toyota is the way to go. Honda Odyssey EX-L is a good value
@@Myksgarage thanks, I'm looking at the 2014 because of you 😁👍🏻
We had good success with our 2014 Odyssey and it worked out well.

Great car review..I wish you did others this way..👍👍

Power door controls need to be in center so passenger can reach them, air vents I agree, agree hate the auto stop and push button drive
Thanks for the comment!
I just got one I love it so much!!!
Thanks for watching! It’s not a bad vehicle, I just wish we would have gotten a lower trim
Myks Garage I understand I’m just happy to have a van that I’ve really wanted my van broke down for more than 3 months the Macanic hasn’t been able to fix it. And I have to have the room and space this have because I have a son with autism. He loves the van too. This is my first new car I’ve ever got so happy!
I owned 3 odysseys so far, I only want Honda to bring down the price difference between LX and touring trims...... currently the difference is almost like one more new car
Good point!
This is why I bought a 2016 grand caravan I was look in to buying a 2014 to 2016 honda odyssey but later found out that it still has the time belt how much would it cost me close to $2,000 in repairs I'm very happy with my Grand Caravan
Thanks for watching!
Grand Caravan is a POS, we got stuck with a 2019 as a rental after our '16 Odyssey got totaled, the screen is like a 2009 Garmin, side doors are clunky as hell, runs nowhere near as good as the Odyssey... and its Dodge... our '16 EX-L Odyssey was nicer than that 19 Caravan, now we have an '18 EX and that caravan is no comparison.
@@M.Miller262 enjoy the recalls also too if you're own an odyssey from 2011 to 2017 enjoy the timing belt it cost about 1900$ just to do that that one reason why I didn't buy it and went with the 2016 grand caravan
@@CRXJDM88 timing belt won't cost me anything more than the belt itself and a few hours labor, ALL v6 Hondas recommend doing a timing belt every 100-120k mi as preventative maintenance which in turn is a minimal thing if the rest of the vehicle will continue going strong for 300k+ mi. not to mention the LIFETIME powertrain warranty as long as all maintenance has been done properly. lets see that clunky ass Caravan make it past 200k mi w.o going through a trans or burning more oil than fuel.
My Odyssey is being recalled for a fire risk, due to a wiring hireness being installed wrong. There's been 3 fires reported so far. That is unacceptable! I'm sick of this piece of crap! This is my first and last Honda. Had issues with the sliding doors, electrical and now this recall! Piece of garbage!
Isn't the fuel door on the 2014 in the place as this one? With the same safety mechanism?
Yes it’s in the same place on the 14. I had the same complaint with that one as well
You can turn the adaptive cruise control off if you want - check with dealer for instructions

looks like a recall has been done in the U.S. and here in Canada as well for passport, odyssey and pilot owners !!!

Sliding Door Outer Handle Cable Recall:
2018-2020 Honda Odyssey
Yeah I must have been my car that initiated the recall…
Thank you for the nicely done video!
My 2 cents:
Honda vac is for picking up cereal and crumbs, not so good for sucking sands from the carpets. Good for keeping messcallation at bay on long road trips.
Cabin watch is ok but it would be better if it didn't freeze up in hot weather.
Lane keep assist really only helps keeps your hands from getting fatigued during long drives because it makes the small corrections for you.
You didn't mention the intercom, but that keeps the kids entertained: This is the pilot speaking... Next stop, playground!
The audio system on the elite is nice.
I wish it had a larger fuel and window washer fluid tanks.
Auto stop does suck but there's a way to trick the computer into disabling it. Has something to do with opening the hood while the car is running. Search the forums.
The seats are friggin heavy and I'm a 200lb gorilla.
Thanks for your comment!
My wife still has a 2012 and we live it. I just wish it was quieter inside and had the voice projection for hearing people in back. But,. It's paid for , still gets 29 mpg .
Keep it as long as you can, the new ones are not any better. Thanks for watching
You know you can turn the adaptive cruise control off to regular cruise rite?
Yes I know that now, it’s frustrating how Useless the adaptive cruise is
10:50 - GAWD!!! I finally stopped watching your video. In my opinion, it's just you nit-picking. Most cars has their window operations locked by driver & he now only can open/close only his window. Also, all previous generation Honda Odyssey has fuel filling behind the driver-side, so you should have known it before you bought this 2019 Odyssey. What were you smoking when you bought the Oddy?
Every other vehicle I have owned didn’t lock out the driver from the window controls, Honda is the only car brand that has done this in my experience. I’ll admit I made a mistake buying this thing.
Myks Garage I agree with you about the window lock. It does not make any sense. I have a 2015 Toyota Venza, it has the same feature on the driver seat. But it doesn’t block the driver from opening and closing other windows. However, I don’t understand why did you have to open the side door unbuckle your son before filling the gas? Can’t you do that afterwards?
The door on the drivers side is supposed to remain locked when the gas hatch is open. That’s how my 2009 Odyssey works.
David Ng I’ve managed to do this before, although you could reach and close the gas door. I have large hands and could reach the door
@@Myksgarage Than stop complaining about it.
That window switch lockout (for driver) is to keep you from unknowingly smashing the kids hands while you drive.
I don’t think So
Thank you for the great overview...just got mine...so we will see.
Cool! I hope you don’t have the electrical issues that I had. Best of luck!
I bought a 2019 Odyssey a few months ago. My family loves it. We are coming from a 06 KIA Sedona LX with no amenities what so ever. We went with the EX-L w/Nav and Res. I just couldn’t justify the price of the Touring or Elite.
Some of your complaints are Elite Owner problems. If I had any Elite, I would probably have the same complaints. I will say that the one gripe that I have, is that it sits low and the exhaust system on the passenger side hangs low also. Not a clean look.
You’re right, if I had an Ex, I probabaly would be complaining about it. Elite is just not with it!
armydog1002 transmission alone is worth the upgrade. You should wait for 2020 when they put the 10at on every trim.
The spare tire placement is also horrible. I have a 2007 odyssey the middle compartment is so helpful but my 2019 they place the tire in the middle compartment and it is hard to take out the cover and the spare tire. Terrible!
That’s a good point! Thanks for watching
Antonio Manzana what color did you get?
Thank you for the good, honest review

You might be able to stick a resistor across the start stop feature (in off mode) so u can permanently disable it by default.....i hate that feature on any car.
I’m not sure I’m that technically inclined to do that, but thanks for the suggestion
How was your reliability on your 2014 Odyssey Elite, looking to purchase one
It was great, no issues other than the infamous warped brake rotors
You can switch between radar cruise and regular cruise (non-ACC) by long pressing the cruise button for a few seconds. ;-) Also, I agree with you. We had a 2009 EXL. We just bought a 22 EXL. It's better no doubt, but it's not 40k dollar better!!!
Thanks for watching!
You can make it go back to legacy cruise control you don't have to use the distance method.
Yes, thanks for sharing this into!
Thanks for guiding me on a better decesion.
Thanks for watching! I hope I’ve earned your subscription. Best of luck in your search for a vehicle
I found your review helpful, honest, and precise to the "real world".
I'm probably going to end up going Pacifica Limited, but only because it better fits the budget.
Thanks for watching, I’m glad you found this helpful. You can find used Pacificas only a year old for a good deal.
That must be rough, having to turn on the windshield wipers manually. Remember, that which does not kill you makes you stronger.
Good reminder, thanks for watching!
What I think is odd, Honda is still trying to figure out how to get the rain sensing wipers to work well, where as my 2003 BMW worked flawlessly
rcguyz If Honda offers a feature it should work as advertised. You mention that there are things you don’t like a number of times. I just thought the issues would be more substantial. However, it is a good review
Paul S I’m pretty sure the point he’s trying to make is the cost of the tech that went into the windshield was unnecessary.
@@Myksgarage ours work great on our 19 elite.
@@Myksgarage _ Forget the rain sensing wipers, you are lucky that your 2003 BMW is still working.
Very good review.
Thanks for watching
I just got one of these after having a 2013 Town and Country and it's a gigantic upgrade. Probably keep it a few years then get then get either another Honda, or that new Kia Carnival looks really compelling, but give it a couple model years.
I appreciate your comment, thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for the great review. Which part of USA do you live in? Whats the highest temperature it gets in summer? Because the AC comment is really very important for me. I live in Dubai.
I live in Northern Utah, close to Salt Lake City. No way I would want this vehicle in Dubai, a/c can barely keep up when it gets 95 degrees here.
In Dubai it can reach 122 degrees :) unless they are making different line for Gulf exports.
It’s an inconvenience to put a shop vac away too? That’s a mute point. Even though I do agree the vac seems to be gimmicky.
Actually the car wash I use has vacuums readily available, so I just use those. Also it, I have to have the vehicle running In order to use the built in Honda Vac, so I have to pull it out of the garage to use it, therefore I don’t use it.
Myks Garage having to run the vehicle is something I wouldn’t like either.
Thank good you saved me. I’m in the market for an odyssey especially the 2018 and later. And the only reason I am looking for these newer models is the adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. If they are not working as expected I would better.... find an older model one and save money. And I didn’t find any review like this. I used the driver assist features in rental Toyota Sienna and they worked really good. May be I should look for Toyota Sienna. Thank you very much for the honest review though.
Thanks for watching, don’t make the mistake I did.
I have the adaptive cruise control and I like it. I think it’s largely a matter of personal preference.
It actually does have a regular cruise control. You just have to shut off the adaptive cruise control
Yeah, I figured that out after the fact
I can use the wireless charging pad with iphone with phone case without issues.
It must depend on the case, none of mine work....
I too was thinking about those window buttons I can't use when I disbale for rear passengers.. I wish honda should make the driver able to control all the windows while disbled all window
Thank you!!
That’s how it should work but Honda probably saved a few bucks for not doing that.
The only way to get the vented seats, you have to get the Elite. I agree about the stop/start, mpg and vacuum. Though all your other negatives I completely disagree. I got my 19 elite in November 2018 for $39k, so maybe I am not as sensitive. Really love the adaptive cruise and lane assist, cause I can finally sleep while my not so smooth wife drives.
Whether we agree or disagree about my “negatives” its a moot point, it’s personal preference and each of us has our opinions. Thanks for watching
Most of the things can be researched and found before buying I mean I’m sorry but really I loved the odyssey I had and getting ready Lord willing to get another one
I researched it thoroughly, I bought it in summer of 2018, at which time there was not a lot of information, or detailed reviews like mine of the van. Lesson learned!
I have a 2012 the elite trim, I was thinking about upgrading but honestly I think that this new design doesn't surpass the old one. I will wait til next generation to upgrade.
I think you are wise. I wouldn’t get an Elite trim. You could find a nice used 2018 EX-L trim that could be a good deal in a couple of years
I have had a 2006, 2019 and now a 2023 Odyssey.. I think they are great. If you don’t like all the features why do you keep buying the elites??
I sold this 2019 elite in May of 2021, thankfully covid prices allowed me to get out of it and I have not purchased another Honda nor will I
Great review! Some of the negatives are what stopping me from upgrade my van to the newer one. The vents location and start/stop feature are almost deal breaker for me.
Yeah the rear vents are a joke. And the A/c can barely keep up, and i live in a cold climate
Shame on Honda for fixing something that wasn't broken.
I'm waiting for the new 2021 Sienna. Hopefully it's not too underpower.
It should be interesting to see what Toyota does, thanks for watching!
You can actually do a regular cruise control if you just hold the distance button.
Yes, I figured that out. Thanks for watching
We have a 2020 EX. Love the van, rides like a dream. But we disabled the radar cruise control, lane centering and auto start stop immediately. Also, my old Elantra GT seemed to be smarter designed. I could stand under the hatch on my GT. Odyssey hits me in the chin. Also, I could lock the windows and still control them from the drivers seat. Odyssey locks everyone. Also playing music from a USB stick, I have yet to find a vehicle that does that as well as my old Elantra. It was immediate. The Odyssey initializes for minutes. I'm out of the neighborhood before the thing starts playing (now I use the internal storage, which works). Lastly, would it have killed Honda to fit a permanent trip odometer on the instrument panel? And a feature from Nissan I would have liked to see, cruise control shows what speed it is set to. If you brake, it just grays out the number so you know what speed it'll go to if you hit resume. Brilliant feature. Odyssey just draws a box around cruise control. Overall a good van, unrivaled for rear facing car seats and still accessing the third row. Wonderful ride, smooth as silk. Just wish they'd hire a few folks to focus on everyday usability.

Hi mate,
Thanks for the video. Does your model have parking assist? If yes, what is it like? I do not own a car with this feature and I think the Oydessy 2019 model, or at least the new 2020 model has it, so I am wondering what it is like?
Cheers
I’m not sure If mine has this or not.
