In early 2018 we got one of the last 2017's available anywhere within 200 miles. We got over 12k off MSRP because it was an unpopular color and they wanted it gone, and they threw in an extended warranty for free. We drive a lot and it has 75,000 miles on it and absolutely zero issues whatsoever.
Excellent review! The seats sliding side to side is actually a throwback to pre-2011 model change. We had a 2008 we bought new and being able to slide the passenger side rear seat made entering the 3rd row Soooooo much easier. We got a 2011 and were extremely disappointed that they removed that feature and I complained to Honda repeatedly because since 2008 we've leased an Odyssey in 2011, 2013 and 2016 and not having that feature is the only con we have. I realize people who didn't own a 2008 model will never miss that feature but it was an extreme convenience that is essential in the satisfaction factor.
That rear camera I love that, switching over to the next lane made it a breeze and I have that on my 2013 Crosstour. Now I have a little family I'm looking to get a minivan now. It's kind of a 50/50 now on 2018 or 2017 odyssey. Really sucks that 2018 does not have that rear view camera which I have gotten really use to, It would have made it a lot easier to pick out of the two with that camera. Lol but awesome comparison video my man, this helped me a great deal haha
If you've made it this far here are some things to consider: #1. 2018 Honda Tank Size is only 19.5 Gallons compared to the 21 that I have with my 2016. That can be a big deal for long road trips. #2. The air vents have been moved from the ceiling to the middle of the row on both 2nd and 3rd rows. Thats horrible for air circulation and doubly horrible for rear facing car seats on the 2nd row. Also, the rear air condenser was removed, which means theres gonna be some hot people in the 3rd row. It was mid-90s (100+ heat index) in central florida here for a week straight recently and things don't cool off much until late October. Thats some pathetic design right there. Shameless cost cutting. #3. No more rear speakers. Thats right - unless you get the Elite trim, you are gonna get the basic 7 speakers set up. Thats odd that they don't at least have the 10 speakers for the Touring trim. Another cost cutting move.
Very important key features that are no longer available in new Odyssey: 1) right side mirror camera - great safety feature 2) second raw seats don't fold down - major inconvenience if you need to transport big flat items 3) no cooling box - was great 4) no compass - this one is downright ridiculous
Do you think the 5th Gen (2018) still looks modern or is it starting to show its age? The 4th Gen (2017) looks pretty dated to me but that could be subjective because it still looks really good.
@@mustasheolll2020 great review however i know that they took away the gear stick from the newer version. I live in a Canada where we need “to use the gear” to help us with the snow although we only are FWD. I have friends who owns the new ver and was left stuck on the snow and was helpless- the engine keeps going back to neutral.
This was a great video. I'm looking forward to possibly purchasing a van for the family, although I'm just stuck between either going for the Pilot or Odyssey. Is it possible if you could do a video maybe targeting family or new families and feature practicalities and such?
Sergio Torres My family replaced our 2009 Odyssey with a 2017 Odyssey about two months ago. Now let me tell you the Odyssey is a lot more practical for my family which is 5 people.
Sergio Torres No Suv is going to replace a minivan. A minivan is more practical for the family. We have two volvo xc90s and one honda minivan. i don't even put my kids in the suv.
If you want AWD, better performance, and/or better "off-road" practicality, go with the Pilot. If you don't need AWD, if you have child seats, and performance doesn't have to be fantastic, go with the odyssey. We have a 2008 Honda Pilot, and it's great for us.
We owned a 2009 Honda Odyssey for 3 years, in 2013 we got the new generation, we are now still driving a 2013 Honda Odyssey and we are planing to get the new 2018 Honda Odyssey. We have 3 kids, trust me, the minivan Honda Odyssey is a great spacious, very functional car for a family. We are very happy with Honda Odyssey. Great reliable car. We never had a problem with it. It has plenty of room, loaded with features that are very family oriented, the Honda Odyssey drives very nicely, like a sedan, very quiet and very powerful when needed. As a owner of 2 generations of Honda Odyssey, I highly recommend Honda Odyssey.
I hate minivans my wife told me to start looking at them because I have a Kia Sorento sxl v6 I love it but it would be hard to get a minivan instead of suv
with all this new technology i kinda expected better mpg with minivans but they still make like around 20ish mpg. Even big trucks are able to get thoes numbers. My 08 Odyssey is still able to get around like 18 or 19 mpg now.
If you're buying a used 2017 Odyssey, how can you be sure if you have ACC and brake mitigation? Is it only in certain trim levels, and only an option in certain ones? I can't find a single thing online about an option for the 2017 to have those two features.
Personally, I think new model changes are not worth the price increase. Plus, the 9 speed automatic transmission still needs a lot of work. I stick to the old 6 speed. Good & informative comparison.
My parents have always leased their odysseys. We have had 5 or 6.... I don't know. Anyways we're trying to move out of minivans... either the pilot or Mazda CX-9. The odyssey is the best minivan in the market
I think the blind spots are better than waste of. Money lane watch if Honda could have took seriously they should have put lane watch on both sides not on ☝️ one
2017 Odyssey shares platform design with the 2008 Accord 2018 Odyssey shares platform design with the upcoming 2018 Accord. I don't think it's a very difficult decision.
We need a comparison between the new and the old Odyssey.... how do the new one drives? is it really quieter/ better to drive? how is the new suspension/gearbox/steering compared to the old? the air condition is it better and cooler or not? also is the front seats smaller or bigger as they changed the front console which will change your legs space? very important for tall guys still did not find anyone that covered this
3:08 Chrysler has been doing this since 1996. 20-year patent must have run out. Very, very clever? Nothing clever about stealing a design feature from a competitor.
Good vid. I am a big fan of the lane watch feature too bad they did away with it. Even though the blind spot monitor will address the driver's side blind spot. Nice new design with some good features.
That's too bad I have my 2012 Turing and its has 90% of this 2018 the details on the new one is not so good I was waiting to see a full remodeling it's not good enough HONDA you could do better than this way do we need 10 speed gear what's wrong with the old one HELO IT'S A FAMILY USE VAN not a sport car so shame on you honda I was waiting for better car not the same But still love my2012
I'm trying to buy the same model 2011 same trim but I want to ask about the transmission , how is it ?? Because when I test drive it it wasn't as smooth as my 2008 Odyssey when it changes gears , is that normal or you think the transmission is faulty in that certain Van ??
In early 2018 we got one of the last 2017's available anywhere within 200 miles. We got over 12k off MSRP because it was an unpopular color and they wanted it gone, and they threw in an extended warranty for free. We drive a lot and it has 75,000 miles on it and absolutely zero issues whatsoever.
Do it have radio navigation system
Excellent review!

+Troy Nguyen glad it helped! Great insight on the cameras too! Thanks for watching!

the more features, the more things to go wrong. Nice video
I liked Lanewatch a lot!
Totally awesome video. Excellent and thorough comparisons. Thanks for putting this together. You should become Honda's USA spokesperson.
Honda, put the gear selection stick back please.
Great video and commentary. Love the side by side comparison!
Thank you very much I've always the 2014 all the up to 2021 was the same vehicle
My 2013 Odyssey has a cool box AC cooler
I had a 2013 odyssey too sadly it got totaled

it looks like refresh from the outside:\ but it has cool new features on the inside!

I believe the 2018 has upgraded to Blu-Ray player instead of DVD in my 2016 Elite...
Excellent job
Hello 👋
I don’t know if you are going to do it
2018/2019 different on EX-L model
Looks wise I choose 17
The older one still looks way cool than the new.
I think they both look good but I’m leaning on the 18’ cause it looks more modern.
We had both generations and the 2018 has lighter steering, more solid doors, and wayy more tech and features, over all it felt more luxurious.
@@mustasheolll2020 great review however i know that they took away the gear stick from the newer version. Is the 2018 the same size as the 2017? 2018 looks a lot smaller. I want the 2018 but don't want to lose the space.
Viren Patel its the same size
Snake Plissken
What about 2017 model any issues ???
It’s bigger but looks more sleek
Love the energy green socks!
jazziffizzle haha where'd you see those?
Your Honda Man at 12:32
Great comparison. thanks !

If mpg important get sienna
Man, those 2018's got EXPENSIVE though, my mom was looking at a Touring, $45K, nope!
Why would I do that. Their transmissions are horrible. Were stillvhappy with our 05
My dad got a 2012 Touring. Not the elite cause it was wasn't worth the price tag.
Mostroev ouch. we had that for 6 years, but we had many problems with it. we just recently got a 16.
Great job. This was very helpful.
Do 2017 & 2018 have radio navigation system
The 2016 odyssey reminds me of Wii U when I look at it and the 2018 one reminds me of switch since there's a game super mario odyssey.
I like the 2018 model
Does the very new 10 speed gearbox drives good?
not really. hear bad reports of it already.
Heyu Yoma everywhere. It's a 10 speed, double trouble.
qould be nice to compare base models, so you know what truly the diff is between the models. the high end models are not mainstream...
Great information thank
I had 2017 special edition for $30500 new with tv and vacuum cleaner 8 seat plus more extras my wife and kids they like it

J Green I wouldn't trust Mazda but it looks nicer.
The new car came!!!
this almost blew out my phone speaker on low volume.
The 17 doesn't have remote start as an option? That's crazy
I still like the 2017 😕
Jesus Lozano we had a 2012 till 2018, it was a great car
when do you think the Honda Civic SI will be available ?
it already is
I think the blind spots are better than waste of. Money lane watch if Honda could have took seriously they should have put lane watch on both sides not on ☝️ one
Does the lx model come standard with the plug-ins for devices in the back seats?
my traverse is both mixed it has some of both
2017 Odyssey shares platform design with the 2008 Accord
2018 Odyssey shares platform design with the upcoming 2018 Accord.
I don't think it's a very difficult decision.
icantw8 No. Accord will share with civic. odyssey, pilot, ridgeline, and max share a platform.
icantw8
*Pilot
icantw8 mdx *
i had a 2008 honda odyssey exl with navigation and res

Really? You're a sales manager? I'm bailing out at minute 2:05. Ridiculous.
Every one makes mistakes like that , let go pap
Hey Your Honda Man can you review a 2017 Honda Odyssey Lx im trying to stay on a budget for the family So thanks
what no stow and go ?
yes very helpful!
They should done lane on both side not on one on 2017 and it's good that 2018 is better with blind spots and better design now especially the elite
Let me show Honda Odyssey elite,,please
2019
3:08 Chrysler has been doing this since 1996. 20-year patent must have run out. Very, very clever? Nothing clever about stealing a design feature from a competitor.

The best
Wow Vid from the home town
I have a the 2017 odyssey.
9 speed ZF transmission is a complete pile of garbage. Get the 10 speed honda made one
My dad looked at the 2018 Honda Odyssey but he is not buying it he buys the 2018 stepwise
I love odissey
nice video
Сделайте русский перевод!!!
Wheels and front end are ugly on the 2018. wait for the 2019 to come out and they will work out the bugs.
One mile very much different...
The 2018 Odyssey usdm (North American) version looks so ugly compared to the JDM (Japanese market) 2018 Odyssey
Go Green!
Do you have any idea as to when the 2018 accord will be revealed?
+nav sharad late summer
Why does the 2018 look like a Nissan quest..🤔🤔🤔
Nissan Quest? Not even close. Lol
That's too bad I have my 2012 Turing and its has 90% of this 2018 the details on the new one is not so good I was waiting to see a full remodeling it's not good enough HONDA you could do better than this way do we need 10 speed gear what's wrong with the old one HELO IT'S A FAMILY USE VAN not a sport car so shame on you honda I was waiting for better car not the same

2018 Odyssey has 10 speed now, not 9
+King Tutankhamen Jr. the lower trims have the 9 speed.
Oh okay thxs. No one explained that before
U r 5'2" barely 5' 3" ..wt abt 6' man ? Is he comfortable all 3 rows ?
Bro, do your homework before you do this. Lol. 6 speed. Haha
The new one looks like a dog from the rear end.
Orange Thingy lol
They're messing up all their cars little by little in terms of style. What type of style is that? Ugly Style?
Stepwgn
The 2018 has a 10 speed transmission not 9 speed
It has both. Lower trims get the 9 speed, Touring and Elite trims get the 10 speed.
Horrible gauge cluster!
Last!!
Second!!
Will a 4x8 sheet of plywood fit when the seats are removed?
