INDEPENDENCE JULY 2024 Bluefin Tuna Marathon

- With a full load of eager offshore anglers, The Independence headed out on our 21st annual fishing extravaganza! We would start West of San Diego CA and arrive at the bluefin tuna zone right before nightfall. Then the action began. Deep dropping 200-300-gram jigs to 300 ft would result in an attacking beast. The FIGHT is ON!
And watch as a COW (200lb +) bluefin hits the deck of the INDY. What a sight! WOW!
It was a virtual all night zombie fishing marathon for those who could last.
Yes..."WE ARE THE WALKING DEAD!" -Sheriff Grimes. HA HA!
Sit back, relax, kick up your feet. Be transported...
Wonderful presentation. Learn so much by just watching Captain Rose showing different ways to fight a fish . Thank you
80# bluefin on a Newell and jig stick is crazy 😂 bet he’ll never do that again
I’ve heard this talk by Roy 15 times. Love it.
Great to see the old Newel still handling big fish, what a legendary reel
Roy loves Newel reels … this one in particular was actually from John Collins and Roy had it rebuilt!
@@LaurenChristinaMarieRose nice one
That guy at 33:00 could be Dale Earnhardt's brother. They look identical (RIP Dale)
Epic trip Sherman, thanks for having us! Hope we can join again next year
Of course you can join us next year. I'm counting on it!
Hellya great trip,,,, we’ll be onboard in September!! Can’t wait
sweet video, the kid with TwinPower Spinning setup, made it look easier then those clunky conventional setups, same size fish too. I always use spinning... I use a Stella...
Newell reel, 10 foot rod, 20lb test....he did everything Roy, told him not to do. Rather be lucky than good, that's a quote skill you don't want to live by. Bet he didn't want to fish again soon. Could have caught three with that energy.🐟
50lb test …
During this long fight, at one point the skipper turned around to a guy with a red jacket and barked "Do you mind????" What was that all about? Was the red jacket guy pimping the fisherman's rig?
Great show, nice haul as well
Looks like a great trip!
Man that looks exhausting
It's a labor of love
The captain looks like he spends more time at the hair salon than working on his boat
That’s Roy Rose one of the biggest names in long range Sportfishing. Most of his trips are longer than 14 days
@@lost4real777 🙄
@@lost4real777 14 days? There only like 2 trips a year that long, on a long range boat. Wasn't he on the royal Polaris for years?
@@MikeMacklosky yup
@@lost4real777 he freaked out over 420.... 😆. That was it for me...
Yeah ahh what’s on your head dude? 😂😂😂
Give me a spinning reel over a conventional reel any day
Is it 3 day or 4 day trip? I had a 3 day trip few days later and we did not catch a single 100+ lb tuna due to severe wind
It was a 4 dayer. Yes, windy conditions do lessen your chances. I suggest using heavier jigs to go straight down where the boat's sonar is marking the fish when it's windy. Lighter jigs scope away from the boat and away from the metered school.
How can I join your trip
Does the captain have a hat on or is that his actual hair??
It's his real hair
He needs to get a haircut
Steve needs to learn how to pull and you're rude pushing people out of the way when they just want to take a quick look
Thanks for letting me know! Appreciate the comment!
