  • How to wake up early and not be tired: Learn how to make waking up early as painless as possible. We often have to wake up early at ungodly hours for work, school, or other responsibilities. In this video, I show you the lessons I learned from enduring challenging surgery rotations in medical school where I was waking up at 3:30AM on a regular basis. Along the way I learned to not only make it painless, but I also grew to like waking up early. That's right, I grew to actually enjoy waking up early and I became a morning person. I’ll share with you the tips and tricks I learned on how to wake up early, sleep better, and be more productive in the process. Getting out of bed early in the morning doesn't have to be a chore.
    Items mentioned in the video:
-Philips Hue Starter Kit: geni.us/M5VKPZp (one of my favorite tech gadgets)
-Philips Wake Up Light: geni.us/wKq7 (great if you just want wake up light without the added features of the Hue smart lighting system)
-Black Out Curtains: geni.us/vlFo (These are the ones that I used. They also are thermally insulated to keep make sure your room doesn't get too cold at night)
-Sleep mask with eye contour: geni.us/6Hriy
    -Ear plugs for sleep: geni.us/JB1Wdck
-Sound machine: geni.us/VvTifbM (includes white noise and other sounds to help you sleep)
-Blue light blocking goggles: geni.us/IJBW1Xn (decreases the harm done by computer screens late at night)
Part 2 on Sleep: • Sleep Smarter | Sleepi...
    -f.lux: justgetflux.com
In this video I go over:
    1. Basics of Sleep Hygiene
    2. Consistency with Bed Time and Wake Up Time
    3. Pre-bedtime Routine
    4. Limiting Screen Use Near Bedtime
    5. The Importance of an Alarm System that Works for You
    6. Other Tips
    7. Unexpected Benefits of Waking Up Early
Sleeping early and waking up early does not have to be a painful process. Use the tips here and hopefully you can grow to like it too. You may even grow to consider yourself a morning person like I do now. Waking up early allows you to get more done in a day (increases productivity), gives you more energy (when done correctly), and can help you feel more accomplished as you build momentum from an early start. Try waking up early for a few weeks and let us know how it works for you!

@@srijonisaha9017 The 9 Best Animation Software for Beginners and Beyond
Audodesk Maya, Adobe Animate, and Houdini are excellent animation software options for beginners to pros. Here are six more options, free and premium.
Animation software can help bring your ideas to life-and the screen. Whether you’re animating for a feature film, video game, or personal project, animation software can help you achieve your goals.
If you’re animating on a budget, there’s plenty of free animation software that can enhance your artistry at no cost. Below, we walk through nine of the best animation software options-free and premium.
You can use Autodesk Maya to take a standard motion capture clip and create your own custom animation.
      1. Autodesk Maya
Use on: Windows, Mac OS, Linux
Best for: Everyone, beginner to pro
Many beginner animators want to know: What animation software does Disney use? Well, look no further-while Disney artists use a variety of animation software, one of the most popular choices is Autodesk Maya. (If your question, on the other hand, is “What animation software does Pixar use?” it’s a proprietary software that’s not available to animators outside of the company.)
For many professional animators and animation studios, Autodesk Maya is the industry standard. This 3D animation software is ideal for character creation, modeling, simulation, motion graphics, and more. It’s been used to create animation for movies including “Finding Nemo,” “Monsters, Inc.,” and “Avatar.”
After a free trial, pricing begins at $122 per month (for a three-year license), although monthly plans are also available. If you’re a current student, you may be able to access Autodesk Maya for free.
      2. Adobe Animate
Adobe Animate 2D animation software enables you to create basic vector characters and easily animate them.
      Use on: Windows, Mac OS
Best for: Everyone, beginner to pro
If you want to create a traditional cartoon, Adobe Animate is a great 2D animation software option. With this software, you have the ability to animate using a variety of different techniques, including hand-drawn, frame-by-frame animation, as well as puppet animation, which allows you to manipulate a character rig without redrawing it. You can even import a character created in Procreate or another illustration tool and animate it within this software.
Many shows have been created using Adobe Animate (previously known as Adobe Flash), such as “My Little Pony.” Adobe Animate is available as part of the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription model, but it can also be purchased individually (unlike some other programs, like Adobe Character Animator).
      3. Adobe Character Animator
      Use on: Windows, Mac OS
      Best for: Beginners
Adobe Character Animator is perfect for beginners, even those with very little animation experience. That’s because creating and animating a character in this program requires very few animation skills.
Here’s how it works: You choose a character (called a puppet), which can be your own artwork imported from Procreate, Adobe Photoshop, or Adobe Illustrator. Then, the program uses your computer’s microphone and camera to detect your voice and movements and animate the character. Essentially, you use your own performance to animate a character in real time. Whatever you do with your face-including your mouth, eyes, and eyebrows-your character does. Plus, you can add in other movements, like hand gestures.
Ultimately, this allows beginners to create animations quickly and easily. However, it’s best used for animations that are mostly dialogue, as there is limited functionality to create action and physical movement. Interested in seeing an example? Showtime’s “Our Cartoon President” is created with this animation software.
Character Animator is available as part of Adobe Creative Cloud’s “All Apps” plan.
      4. Cinema 4D
Cinema 4D animation software can be used to create and texture 3D objects, and then light, animate, and render them out for final use.
      Use on: Windows, Mac OS
Best for: Everyone, beginner to pro
Cinema 4D is a 3D animation software that’s ideal for animators at every level, from beginner to pro. Originally developed for Amiga (a computer company that’s no longer in production), the software is now available for Windows and Mac operating systems.
In addition to animating, you can use the software for modeling, lighting, texturing, visual effects, and more. It features an intuitive interface, as well as a customizable layout to fit your needs and preferences. An annual subscription starts at about $60 per month.
      5. Toon Boom Harmony
Use on: Windows, Mac OS, Linux
Best for: Everyone, beginner to pro
Toon Boom Harmony is an industry-leading 2D animation software. You can use it for frame-by-frame animation or rig animation. In fact, if you’re used to hand-drawing your animations, this software offers unique and robust tools for scanning and cleaning up your drawings.
While this software is appropriate for beginners, it’s not limited to those just starting out. Major studios have used Toon Boom Harmony to create shows such as “Rick and Morty,” “Family Guy,” and “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
Animators can choose between three different levels of the software, which each offer different features and price points. The most basic package starts at $25 per month.
      6. Houdini
Houdini can be used to animate an auto rig-essentially, a character that you can manipulate to create movements.
Use on: Windows, Mac OS, Linux
      Best for: Experienced to pro
An advanced animation tool, Houdini has been used in several well-known feature films, including “Frozen” and “Zootopia.” Houdini offers what’s called a procedural workflow, which generates animation in real time. This is used to simulate things like smoke, fire, water, hair, fur, and clothing. Ultimately, this allows animators to create dynamic and realistic effects.
Another unique feature of Houdini is its nodes-based workflow. Every action is stored in a node, which can be rearranged and adjusted to refine the final product. This provides flexibility and cost-effectiveness that isn’t always possible with other types of software.
Even with these advanced features, Houdini is intuitive and easy to use, making it one of the most powerful and robust animation software options available.
The more advanced versions of Houdini are available to purchase; however, students and hobbyists can access a pared-down version of Houdini to use for non-commercial projects for free.
      7. Pencil2D
Pencil2D, an open-source 2D animation software, allows users to create a traditional, hand-drawn style of animation.
Use on: Windows, Mac OS, Linux
      Best for: Beginners
A more traditional 2D animation software, Pencil2D allows users to create hand-drawn, animated scenes. Pencil2D is an open-source platform, so multiple users-even you-can contribute to its capabilities and features. As a result, it’s one of the best free animation software options out there.
The software boasts the ability for users to seamlessly switch between raster (also known as bitmap) and vector workflows, as well as add layers. Overall, the software is fairly minimal and easy to use, so you can focus primarily on your animating. However, advanced animators may not find that the features are robust enough for their preferences.
      8. Blender
Using Blender, this artist has created the animation of a spooky cloth ghost rising from the floor.
Use on: Windows, Mac OS, Linux
Best for: Everyone, beginner to pro
If you’re looking for free animation software, take a look at Blender. Blender stands out from other options in that it is an open-source 3D animation suite. That means it’s been developed by many contributors from around the world-so you can be sure that it offers robust and varied capabilities.
Blender supports the entire animation workflow from start to finish: modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, and video editing. Users also appreciate that they can import external objects, such as textures and other animations.
      Did we mention it’s free?
      9. After Effects
Animators can use Adobe After Effects for everything from setting up a canvas to animating a character.
      Use on: Windows, Mac OS
Best for: Everyone, beginner to pro
After Effects, an addition to Adobe Creative Cloud, can bring your animations to the next level. Considered the industry standard for motion graphics and visual effects, After Effects integrates with Adobe Creative Cloud apps and other software/hardware providers to offer you complex animation capabilities.
Although not ideal for frame-by-frame animation, this powerful tool can be used to create 2D and 3D animations, as well as real-life motion graphics.
This software is available starting at about $21 per month for an annual subscription.
Whatever your experience level or goals, there are plenty of animation software options to choose from. These tools can help bring your characters and ideas to life-and you’ll have fun along the way.

+AquaAnim I can't give an expert response but believe sleeping patters are a matter of habitual behavior. I've been in jobs that required me to have vastly different and somewhat extreme sleep patters requirements. In most cases, I adapted fine, even if it might have initially been a rough transition. A person's circadian rhythm typically takes roughly 72 hours to adapt to new sleep patters if a person is disciplined in getting to bed by a certain time and prepares (important) to be in bed by that time. After that period, the person should adapt sufficiently and get adequate sleep. In one case, I never adapted, because I had a need to work from 4:00PM-4:00AM, while also having a need to attend a daily meeting at 12:00PM. You can imagine, I didn't get much rest. However, I will say that in extreme situations, a person's mind and body, can be sufficiently resilient to still function, even if it obviously has a degrading effect. I would advise that people do not put themselves in these types of situations if at all possible. This can be dangerous in many ways. The situation I described was somewhat extreme, based on limited duration and important needs.

Cram all you like I say, so does science actually, to a degree. Recent studies in mice have shown that memories are made simultaneously in the cortex and hippocampus and that the long term memories in the hippocampus take 3 days to be laid down. You can study early and use long term memory or late and use the cortex, either way it will be accessible from a minimum of one location. Make up your own mind though (apologies for the pun, it was just too easy).

It's impossible for anyone at a recognised computer science school doing the things that were shown in the video, we simply don't have the time and there's way to much pressure coming down on us. I go to zurich to the University come home, revise revise revise.... And than I turn off the computer brush my tooth and go to bed and in the next mornin I have to catch the train to zurich again. But if u want to be a really good computer scientist there is no way arround that... I rest on weekends and during hollidays, u simply gotta live with it...

I'm a game designer, not a doctor, but I've worked my share of 20 hour days (and a few 48-72 hour days during particularly rough crunch times), so I certainly understand the importance of sleep (though I hate having to do it). I also understand and agree with much of what was said in this vid, but I don't really understand the "get up earlier and you'll have tons of extra time to get stuff done" thing. In order to maintain the proper amount of sleep, getting up earlier means you also have to go to bed earlier, so, really, your day is the same length, just offset.
Also, getting up hours before you have to be at work (and maybe getting some work done before your work day starts, as you mentioned) means that you're starting your official shift when, mentally, you feel like you've already been working for several hours. It's not bonus time so much as it's just increasing the length of your workday. As a bit of a workaholic, I personally don't mind doing that, but let's be real that that's what's happening there. You'll get more work done, but only because you're working longer. Your real shift still ends when it would normally end.
Honestly, I prefer staying up late and working at night for many of the same benefits you likely get at 3:30a (fewer distractions, e.g., as everyone else is asleep). And despite various studies which have shown that sleeping during the day is supposedly less restful, I find that -- regardless of how much or little sleep I've gotten -- I perk up at night and drag during the day. And I have zero difficulty falling or staying asleep when the sun is up whereas I often struggle to sleep at night. Also, left to my own devices, my sleep schedule revolves around the clock as if my body is on a 30-ish hour day, so I'm not sure that the same advice applies to everyone. There may be a standard rhythm, but I think some people really are naturally nightowls. Or, in my case, living on Martian time.
All that being said, good advice for relaxing and getting to sleep here. Screens and caffeine no longer have any real effect on me, but people like my gf could definitely benefit from the apps you mentioned as she struggles to fall asleep more than anyone I've ever met. Additionally, for myself, I've found that listening to binaural beats in the delta range can help, as can the various UA-cam channels with ambient "white noise" such as "rainy town square at night" and whatnot. I've also tried a few different "sleep meditation" videos/audios that have worked quite well, including one designed as a "space journey to the subconscious" (or something) that I've never heard past the 15 minute mark because it knocks me right out every time.

      @joshuaanderson4090 7 років тому +3

Hollywood John I can say, for myself, that the morning hours are when I have more energy and am better able to focus. for me waking up earlier is better than staying up late.
for me, 3 hours in the AM ≠ 3 hours in the PM. as the author stated way more productive with the morning hours.
I wake up 3 hours before I need to see my first patient, review labs, records, the coming cases, and clear my inbox. I'm also able to eat breakfast and have my 1 cup of coffee.
in the afternoon all that would take 4 to 5 hours easy. by them my brain is full of all the things that have already happened and I'm fatigued/distracted.
plus once my last note is signed I can go home and spend the next 3-4 hours with my family and really be there with them. there are no distractions, everything is always caught up.
I think more people would be productive if they shifted their schedule to go to bed early and wake up early. humans are naturally more alert in the morning. it's how we are wired.
that said I know it isn't necessarily true for everyone. we're not Toyota corollas so what works for most isn't necessarily true for all. do what makes you successful.

I think he's talking about being more productive by waking up early because that's the time where most people work and supposedly where the expectations about your productivity should be higher, since your boss is probably expecting you to work more at your workplace where he can see it. In your case it's different because you are able to speed up the work and deliver to your boss in the same way. As a medic, he probably have to be at his workplace to do some of his work.
And you can benefit by getting earlier at your job because you don't get there late and your boss is going to notice that you are dedicated at your work. Even though this may not be true.
I agree that you have less distractions at night and i prefer to work at night as well usually going to sleep at 3-4am, but nobody notice the work that you do backstage, unfortunately.

I recently started trying sleeping strategies for falling asleep fast and I found that I'm able to relax my body and clear my mind really fast. Even when I watched some videos a couple minutes before, I can still fall asleep between 5-15 minutes. I'm going to continue practicing this skill to decrease my time as much as possible

I have been sleeping on a couch that is about 20 inches shorter than me for 3 and a half years and in this same couch where I wrote this comment I play Playstation, watch TV, eat, smoke (not always) while watching YT videos, pet my cat and almost every night I fall asleep with this same laptop on. These tips are helpful but not if you don't have a bed and can't afford one but I still wake up happy only because I have a mother and a cat that love me, despite the physical pain, bad diggestion, fur allergy, asthma... Overall I'm going through an ungrateful phase of my life :)

I love getting up early expecting to be happy, have a nice breakfast that I can eat quickly so I won't be late wherever I have to go. I love getting up early to a nice blue sky. I love getting up early not hearing my parents yelling at me to get up. I love getting up early not feeling stressed about the next day. That everything is gonna be fine. I'm going to feel totally awake, and *happy.*
But that almost never happens, I wake up getting out of bed confused and dazed af seeing a damn bagel on the table. I look outside and it's always gray, no sun. My parents are yelling at me to "get up, we're going to be late."
I feel stressed, that nothing's going to be okay and I'm gonna have to deal with something called reality. I'm not happy when I wake up early. No I'm not. Sometimes I wish I don't wake up tomorrow, but of course I wake up tomorrow. It's an about 10 month long cycle of feeling like crap waking up and feeling tired when I go to sleep. Reality sucks ass. No day is good when I have to work/ go to school only when I have to do the same exact thing tomorrow. When I don't have to work and I can relax is a good day. I can only do that on Saturday. Until June, July, and August comes around so I can be happy.

Small window unit air conditioner for the bedroom. I turn it on maybe an hour before bed to a comfortable sleeping temperature. It's cheaper than cooling your whole apartment/house to 63 degrees or whatever, and the white noise is great.

A problem of mine is that I start school at different hours every day, weather 8:30, 9:30 or 10:30, but I think I'm gonna try and wake up at the same hour everyday for some time, even if I start later in the morning ^^
Also having a light subject to think about at night time helps me a lot, I try and supress any negative thought I can have to avoid getting into a depressing circle of thoughts that keep you awake, and rather find a fun and light subject to let your mind wonder about, like how would your character be in the world of the book you just read, how to design the smallest house ever, what modifications you'd like to make to a lego build..

For me it’s really important to watch my sleep phases. Everyone needs to figure his own sleep phase length out on his own. But for me it’s often ways easier to wake up very early and refreshed after 3-4 hours of sleep instead of 5-6 hours. So if I want to get a good sleep and wake up early I try to get at least 7 hours of sleep and if I can’t get them it’s sometimes better for me to get a little less sleep, to be able to wake up refreshed.
