Go look at the 1970 Mach 1.. the stripes down the sides, the bold black hood stripe and the shaker!! That is what we want.. with line lock and 500 hp! Made to go light to light as well as canyon carve on sundays

@@DalHarpJr Some people just wanna hate on this car for no reason and claim bullshit when they don't know anything, i for one am impressed with the configuration of the air cooling and even aftermarket application on this car (the front circular vents which could be used to even have a Twin Turbo setup and or fog lamp configuration for customization and personalization, which the original Mach 1 was all about. This Mustang is for sure one of the most customizable Mustangs out there from the factory, and the 5.0 V8 is arguably one of the most versatile motors Ford offers which as i said loves to be boosted and have TT setups which would fit perfectly.
Those faux fog light panels were never meant for lights ,,,, they are meant for twin Turbos,lol

Black Mustang means that you do not need to go to the car wash service too often. You can still look nice. And it looks mystical.
@@GerardPedrico I have a black Lincoln AND its hard if not impossible to keep clean. The Magnetic Metallic paint is beautiful and looks Mystical, mud blends right in NOW that is the color you need if you don't want to wash it as often. Black is way too hard to keep clean as even just only dust shows up on it.
The shaker should be optional on the non race ready Mach 1. Or both since we like them so much.

But a shaker in a modern day dual fuel injected car would be faux anyways... could always buy one off Ebay or something and tape it on... same difference Lol. They already have the fog light area that's detachable for either cooling or maybe even the possibility of bolting on a TT kit and making use of them... now that's something I'd be down for. Car already looks great, just needs at least another 200whp and then it's worthy of the name!! Even though the old classics were never near that, or even this level, but still... love the car and hopefully I can afford one by May next year 😎
The shaker hood was optional from the factory on non Cobra Jet models also. I had a '69 351W with one as a factory option.

Just put the Shaker on it. The Shaker is the Mach 1. How Ford ever thought to pull off a Mach 1 w/out the Shaker is beyond me.

That’s a pretty decent looking GT. 😂 honestly I like the way it looks but it doesn’t justify the price tag. It should stand out way more. I’ve got a royal crimson 2018 gt premium, and I’d rather have that car than this one. If it had the shaker, maybe optional rear and side louvers, with a bigger horsepower jump, then the price would be justified. Pretty much every complaint about the car, he just use the “just buy aftermarket parts” excuse.

Although one of the chief engineers said the GT350 open air intake on the car was already set up. Adding the shaker hood would require a completely different engineering set up to incorporate the shaker hood.

Shaker was an option on the original Mach One
Not all Machs had the Shaker. I understand it, but don't like it. Cervini has been doing ram air hoods for a long time. I'm sure Ford could have done it and make it functional.

Because they would had to make a new hood and would have to spend tons of money for the crash testing and all those rules and regulations, so they just threw a normal hood because it didnt cost them anything..its all about the cash..
Beautiful vehicle. Can't wait. Just very disappointed about the 480hp. I think Ford should have pushed for 505hp at least. The standard GT (10 speed automatic transmission) is going to beat the Mach 1 manual in a quarter mile drag race if only 480hp....how disappointing would that be!?!? Cannot think that Ford would allow that to happen! :ol

Well the GTPP 10 speed beats the Bullit really bad in the quarter mile and 0-60 mph. There is almost a 1 second difference in the quarter mile.
The last Mach 1, '03-'04 made 25% more horsepower 305 vs 245 than the GT. That was a difference worth talkin' about. I had an '03 and that DOHC all aluminum 4.6 was a rocket and revved like nobody's business. Track day was amazing, upgraded the brake pads for that and had a blast. I can't see me going for the new one. "the striping is important", not so much. No shaker, not really a Mach 1.

Why can't ford sell supercharged 5.0 gt starting at $43k like Lebanon Ford?
Because they want a supercharged car that can actually hold up on a track as well as handling and braking competently. The Lebanon Ford cars are just GTs with a blower strapped on without much of anything done in the handling and braking department. 3 laps in and the Lebanon Ford cars are going to be pulling off the track and going on the trailer if the owner doesn't put the them into the grass first trying to catch cars with less power like the GT350 and soon Mach 1.
The S550 chassis doesn't really work all that great when you get power numbers much past the GT350 and is part of the reason the GT500 comes with a DCT since it allows a more comprehensive traction management system than the automatic and manual cars have. You can band-aid it with some bolt-ons and sticky tires but look at what they put into the GT350, GT350R and GT500 to really extract usable performance from those cars as well as durability.
They don't want to warranty it because the msrp of a 5.0 makes it affordable for a lot of people. Ford knows 95% of the GT500s will be garage queens, so they supercharge it knowing their wealthy owners will never beat on it. On the flip side Ford knows that 95% of supercharged 5.0s will be beat to hell by it's owner.
Supercharging means they have to re engineer the entire engine and other parts to take the massive increase of heat. It won't be the same engine as modern turbo and supercharged engines are designed to be durable and specifically be resilient to heat.
However with heat, comes with increased issues as components break easier throughout the car so the cost is much higher when you want turbo or supercharged.
So if they offered a supercharge variant you have to pay a lot more which most mustang segment customers are not keen to fork out that kind of money for a mustang.
Also 43k is very low for a car with that power people will get themselves killed showing off

I'm with you on the 7.3. Needs another year or two to get the bugs worked out and the aftermarket cookin'. Then we can pitch the Tik Tok Coyotes and swap in something with some bigger teeth.
NEPTUNE117 there are already plenty of options for that: the pp2, the gt350, the gt500, and now the Mach 1. Drag racing is more accessible and affordable to the average car enthusiast. Track days are pretty expensive at my local road course, but for $25 bucks I can spend a night at the drag strip. I like turns too, but to do it legally and safely, it’s cost prohibitive.

Ford has gotten lazy. You know it's bad when they can't even justify meaningful changes to the Mustang.
The S550 platform is coming to an end. Ford is already selling so many regular mustangs and these ones are for enthusiasts with deep pockets only. Will they justify their price tag for their performance? Probably not, but you are paying for the rare and unique badge on that car. As an engineer, I cannot justify paying a ZL1 or even a slightly used C7 ZO6 or Grandsport money to a Mustang that can barely match the performance of a Camaro SS 1le. 50+ grand for this car is a no go on my side.
al spend 18k and 30k on a turbo built on a use c6. Bam fast car but it’s old. C7 z06 is old. We have the c8 now.

Not buying the song and dance about why the car does not have the Shaker hood. With this many people complaining about the car not having a Shaker hood it is obvious the car buying public is expecting the Shaker on a Mach 1. The front end on the 2019 Camaro was not well received and Chevrolet was smart enough to change it. Let's see if Ford is smart enough to add the Shaker hood. Track performance is not the end all as 99% of the Mach 1's will be driven on the street and never see a track. Simply put, give the people what they want...in this case the Shaker hood, not excuses!!
I bought my Mach 1 in 2003 and still love it. I'm in the process of restoring it on my channel instead of buying a new one. It should be 550 RWHP when it is all done.
Those looking nothing like Magnum 500s. I like that handling pack and the color but despite its negative effect on the top end, I still would have like to see the shaker as an option. Would be real nice to have a twin turbo option too.

thanks for the update, wish it had a 5.2 crossplane crank in it with 500hp. Dealer mark-up will kill its sales since it not much more than a GT Premium Package.
I to wanted a 5.2L cross plane V8 in the Mach 1 with 517 SAE HP(100 HP per liter) at 7500 rpms and a 8000rpm redline. I hope that the Mach 1 with the handling package will be on par with the GT350 in the handling department. Mabye there will be a Boss 315 for 2022.

Chris M to be fair 480hp isn’t super weak considering stock. U throw a couple bolt ins get a tune and cam and u get be pushing some serious power without forced induction

I agree. Boss 429, one of the best muscle cars. Now very rare and expensive. This is looking more like a trim package.
The functional shaker intake definitely improved the performance of the older Mach 1's, but they've probably engineered their way around not needing it at all anymore.

Works for me - at least as much as the Mustang does anymore.
I see some people aren't happy that it's not more "old school" (shaker scoop etc)
but the Mustang moved on from retro after the '05+ body style went away, and the old styling marks wouldn't look right no matter what.
A shaker scoop wouldn't even shake now, there's no longer that "lopey" idle that made the scoop move in the first place.
Personally, I think the whole car should have stayed retro, again the '05+ body, like the Challenger has but Ford isn't interested in selling an updated version of old - Mustang buyers are young just like they were when the Mach 1 began and it's them Ford is designing for.
Now THIS old fart would love an '05 "Mach 1" - 7.3 with a cam lopey enough to shake that scoop, close ratio 5spd, solid axle on leaf springs with a 4.56 and a locker. Call it the Drag Pack and knock the headlights out of the naturally aspirated Camaros and Challengers out there, just like in the beginning.

How are you going to design and market a Mach 1 and not even include the most defining feature? I'm not even a hardcore Mustang enthusiast but I knew a Mach 1 when I saw one, the shaker hood was what made the Mach 1 unique to the other Mustangs. What is interesting tho is that they include the fake headlight covers in case you want more airflow, if that is the case can't you do the same thing with a shaker hood?- just seems like another GT with an appearance package

I want to know why this 2020 Mach 1 and 2020 Bullitt have similar HP ratings when the 03's were separated by 40 hp. Couldn't the 2020 Mach 1 be delivered with 520hp?
The '03 GT was 260HP. The '03 Mach 1 was 310HP or 50 more.

The Mach 1 looks great. Its a pity that people who were not even around when the original came out, feel they much gripe about details. The most fabulous Mach 1, the Twister Special came with very few options and no niceties. My 2019 Ecoboost can beat the 428 SCJ in the quarter, plus outperform 99% of the cars of that era on a road track. We are in a great period of auto history, but the number of options are limited by production numbers, government mandates, and development costs.
Program Manager Scott Hoag sold management on the '03 - '04 Shaker by proving it provided a mild performance boost above 80MPH.

Honestly if they just squeezed enough power for a even 500, it would have been nice. Chances are, this Bullitt engine will likely be in the future Mustang GT’s. The GT350’s 5.2 makes it way more special.

They "made it work" in 2003. It added drag, added weight on top of the engine, and made the exact same power as the shaker-less Cobra.

The 10 speed will OBVIOUSLY Shift Quicker than a 6 speed manual AND 1 OF the
10 gears will KEEP the engine ALWAYS in its Optimum Power Band. ALSO it has paddle shifters like a Ferrari and will operate JUST like a 10 speed standard IF you want it to. When you want to pass, IF you blip the left paddle it will automatically choose the optimum gear for passing, it does that for any speed. I'm glad my stang has the 10speed ALSO the Magnetic Metallic paint is beautiful. It's dark metallic grey that Almost looks Black (it does turn black at night) but it doesn't require the high maintenance of black paint. Mud blends right in so it looks clean while muddy I highly suggest you look at one with that paint, its awesome.

Thanks for the video! One Question will the handling package be available with the 10R80 or not. In the video it is mentioned it is available on the "performance model" not sure what that means in this context. I am on the waiting listing for one here in Sweden, but it depends on the final pricing here and what package/options that will be available to us

According to all the articles on the mach 1 that I've read, the handling package is only available for the tremec six-speed manual transmission. I hope that isn't the case however because I would love to get the handling package with the 10 speed.

The shaker to the Mach 1 is the same as the cobra to a Shelby. Why would ford not put the shaker on this car, I don’t care if it makes it a .1 seconds slower.
The Shaker on my 2004 improves performance above 80MPH. Program Manager Scott Hoag had to prove it to get management to sign off on it. If Ford could get the Shaker to boost performance in '03 and '04, you expect me to believe they couldn't do the same in 2020? Bullshit.

First Mach 1's:
Biggest power available(except the 429) Some very distinctive paint, and for '70 some distinctive body cladding. Nice bucket seats.
What about handling? Uh, ok. But mostly that's where the Shelby cars came in, the Shelby cars from the get go were taken and modified to perform on a track better then any of the factory cars.
Modern Ford:
Takes a GT, adds a bunch of handling/track stuff to it. Puts some sort of different body pieces on, a hood stripe even the spokesman says they had a hard time figuring out(why not a full black hood? I dunno) no scoop.
Shelby cars: get handling stuff, plus biggest power available.
Ford, how could you get this backwards? Are you scared of the insurance? Did the marketing team pitch a fit?
Why not:
Big power, add a supercharger since the idea of a bigger displacment engine has been dead for Ford for 20 years now.Put some more "traditional" Mach 1 bits on.... wing of course, rear window louvers, honeycomb back panel, aluminum cladding on the rockers, stripe kit, shaker hood or at least a nice scoop. Handling? eh- maybe better brakes to go with the added HP. PLus you know, wierd grey paint is nice and all I guess, how bout some Grabber Green, Grabber Blue, etc?
This is from a guy that owned a 1970 Grabber Green Mach 1. 351C/toploader 4 speed version. You couldn't help but stare at that car when you saw it.
When I look at this one, it looks like(to me) they couldn't decide how to do a chin spoiler so they glued one onto the existing one, made a hood stripe that would be the least disruptive to the production line as possible to put on, and there isn't even anything special in engine choice. Writing MACH 1 on the sill plates is not going to make me stare at the car. IMO grey haired yuppies are going to buy these to put in storage thinking it is a rare investment, I will be amazed if I see one that someone decided to spend the $$ on to drive daily.
It's just lazy. For what this thing will cost I can have a hell of a lot more fun and customization too on an older generation car. heck I could do a full body makeover and a coyote swap(plus SC) on something like a '99 and have a car that's lighter to boot and probably come in at roughly 50% of the cost of this thing.
Way to go Ford, you have proven once again why the aftermarket is so strong for Mustang.

Wow that was a fancy answer as to why Ford cheeped out by not giving the new Mach1 it's own unique hood ! Also did he say you CAN have the Handling package that include fat rims & tires with the 10R80 ? Or not ? I'm a little confused ?

Mach 1 vs GT350 - other than the 5.2 FPC motor, what's the difference? is the 5.2 going away because of reliability issues?
What about the Coyote issues ? Does the new Mach come with the non optional (normal tick ?)

@@jg11596 Wow, not sure how you haven't heard about the Gen 3 Coyote issues ? A fair amount of them have piston to wall clearance issues with the plasma coated cylinders , and it starts off with a ticking sound coming from the Oil pan ! And could lead to premature engine failure ! (it's all over UA-cam)My friend Don has a 2018 with 8000 mi and his is starting to tick ! Ford is no longer replacing these motors and is calling the tick (NORMAL) is hopes that the car will fall out of warranty when it self destructs ! Then you have UA-camrs like StangMode who's Gen 3 is fine ! It's A CRAPSHOOT !
This new Mach 1 is very controversial for alot of people mainly past Mach 1 owners. This new Mach 1 is honestly not bad. It's gonna sit between the standard GT and GT500just as the past Mach 1 sat between the base GT and Cobra. The GT350 will be going away. Fog lights and a shaker should be optional ad on's these options would help sell the car better. The Bullit will also be going away which is a good move by Ford as the Bullit is pretty much forgotten by most.

There were two different Mach 1 hood scoop versions available. One is the "shaker" that is mounted on top of the air cleaner and goes through the hood (Cobra Jet on the side), the other is a hood scoop that mounts on the hood (351 on the side for example.) and is non-functional. Most people would install a aftermarket air cleaner making the hood scoop functional. With the new Mach 1 being fuel injected it needs a hybrid hood scoop/cold air intake. The two so-called fog light openings might work.
A FULLY FUNCTIONAL RAM AIR shaker would have been the way to go on this 2020 Mach

2:50 Customizable except if you want the handling package and an automatic. Those 2 are not available together in the Mach1. I'm not an automatic person but damn that just seems random to me...

Unfortunately none of the current Mustangs are all that customizable from the factory. I hate how you can get some options with one package but not other options without generally going for another package like a black roof with the performance package. Even wheel options are locked behind certain packages. You can't even get the spare tire if you go with the performance package.

This is a huge problem with Ford! And is probably the single biggest reason why the bullet mustang was such a failure. Zero options, literally!
No 10R80 and you really had to light green! How hard can it be to add an option when it’s coming down the assembly line? If it’s an extra option then charge extra for that option!?
@@robertstewart3086 I really don't understand the spare tire thing. I mean it's not like the performance pack has additional things in the trunk obstructing the spare tire area. I didn't realize the Bullitt was such a failure. Come to think of it I've only seen one on the road in my area and there are lots of Mustang owners here. The only options on the Bullitt was Black or Green and Recaro seats. I don't think many bought the black. I think the Bullitt was really just for fans of the movie. I'm sure some guys tracked it or drag raced with it but really it was for guys like Matt Maran. I wanted one because of the lack of badges and I love the film. I also thought it sounded better than the standard GT. I ended up buying an Orange Fury GT PP1 instead because I got $12000 off on it for it being an '18 and it had pretty much everything I wanted minus magna ride. No regrets here. I've still not had any problems with the MT82 but the engine does tick until it warms up.
@@Guy9998 Sorry to hear about your unfortunate Coyote tick, hopefully it wont get worse ! This is one of the Exact reasons I was hopping the New Mach ! would get the Predator motor only NA. Similar to the 03 &04 Mach which got the Cobra motor only NA ! Remember the Predator is hand built and is far less likely to experience poor piston to wall clearance issues like the Coyote. I would love to have a 2021 Mach in my garage sitting next to My beautiful 69 Mach1 ! If Ford would truly Honor the Heritage .
