@@Nickvdwal It was too obvious that it surely wouldn't have been him. Someone who isn't knowledgeable in LotR would naturally think that a wizard in the show is Gandalf. It is somewhat part of the problem with the show.
I really enjoy this show for what it is but as a fan of the Tolkien Legendarium i thought making the stranger Gandalf was a bit of a cop-out he could have easily been a blue wizard. Cheers Charlie.
I'm sure others have said, but the show runners have said It's improbable, if not impossible that the dark wizard would be Saruman. They acknowledge it would mess with the story in LOTR where Gandalf trusts him.
I didn’t read Sauron’s tear being shed for Celebrimbor, it seemed more to me his reaction to Celebrimbors dying words. He sees himself as powerful, he has aspirations of being greater than Morgoth. Then Celebrimbor, even though Sauron is torturing him, expresses the relief that will come for him when he dies and calls him shadow, prisoner and mockingly “the lord of the rings” and it gets to him. Because for all his effort to bind middle earth he has also bound himself and is dependent on the power of the rings. I’m really glad that they gave Celebrimbor those last moments to say that.
I agree, the tears are because he knows Celebrimbor is right. And despite all his toughness and evil, it still hurts him to be hated and excommunicated from the rest of the Ainur
I think Celebrimbor said it perfectly as the beginning of the end began. He said Sauron is so good a deceiving he deceives himself. The tear he shed is one Annatar would have shed...had he actually been real. Sauron playing that part down to the tee. Also, I think he sees everything has a part of his plan and himself. So he mourns the part of himself that dies with Celebrimbor. This was a magnificient scene. Gives the character layers.
They will just have gandalf lose his memory. Theres no explanation for why he has no memory to start the show, so its no problem to just have him lose his memory again.
Saruman did travel east, though likely to stop evil that was happening in the east. I think we will see Saruman and he helps take down the dark wizard. If you look at the dark wizard's staff it looks similar to Sarumans.
There is still the possibility they both get „destroyed“ and sent back in the 3rd age when Sauron returns, their memory erased… a second chance so to speak to defeat Sauron once and for all… which Saruman fumbles again with his lust for power Gandalf forgot about his life in Valinor too in the books and lost at least parts of his memory for a time when he returned as the White
Sauron really comes off as an abusive, gaslighting ex who shows up to give his victim one more chance and does not take it well when she rejects him. Sauron, honey, maybe you shouldn't have ordered the razing of Eregion right before you made your pitch.
He was the best thing about the show. The original corrupted elf, who just wanted a peaceful homeland for the orcs. Bro simply forgot that orcs are corrupted to the core
You liked him because they ruined the other characters so horribly that he was the only good character in the show... The whole thing is like a ten year old wrote it as a stream of consciousness.. there's no logic behind any of it and the dialogue is atrocious. I hope we get a better adaptation although after this nobody is going to want to touch this ip
@TeamTwiistz says you Tolkien is dead long live Amazon the new Lord Of The Rings I'm sick and tired of you people treating these books like they're sacred texts for example look how many different versions of the story of King Arthur there are
Only the king and durin the 4th saw him and rock crumbled and blocked him in again so they might think he's trapped or could all take him on if they really ,ndwarven pride afterall
Get over it 🙄 We all knew the second he got stabbed it missed vital organs and he'd be back this week. You just want them to kill off the elf brother, admit it.
The epic intro with King Durin and the Balrog, the dialogue between Celebrimbor and Annatar/Sauron before he killed him, Adar's transformation, offer and death and even the obvious reveal of Gandalf at the end with the catchy tune which he and ol' Tom sang is what made me enjoy the last episode of season 2, no matter what people say I enjoy the show and can't wait for season 3!
@@celestin777 hell yeah. they are having to tell a story, without rights to tell that complete story, which makes telling the story very difficult, but they're really doing a pretty good job in my honest opinion.
@@chasehatchett4756errr..But they are litterally changing everything...And why is everywhere so multiculrured...These places suooose to have been isolated for hundreds, sometimes thousands of years...Makes ZERO sence
8:59 No. Númenóreans didn’t help defeat Morgoths forces in the First Age. The Edain, yes they helped fight Morgoth in the first age but they weren’t Númenóreans because Numenor did not even exist yet.
Exactly, actually the island of numenor was kind of a reward for the participation in defeating Morgoth in the war of wrath right? After the destruction of beleriand. Where Elrond’s brother, Elros is their first king
@@wojness1292 settling on "close enough" is what gave us this series, full of stupid writing and inconsistencies. Nobody is hatingg on him but there is nothing wrong with clarifying some things.
@@oskarskalski2982 no this series was far from close enough. They practically threw the source material out the window. Im not defending the show one bit. But this youtube channel get way more right then wrong and cover a shit load of different material. He just refered to one people their later name. I give him the benefit of the doubt.
In the beginning I wasn’t expecting Gandalf either but last week I was watching the hobbit’s movies and at some point Galadriel asks him: “Why the Halfling tho ?” And he goes on about how he’s very fond of haflings, and it can surprise you how good they are. Then I thought this must come from his past and he feels like this thanks to the Harfoots
@@ICU1337same exact thoughts, they don’t need to say it to know all the budget went into these last 2 episodes but mainly this last one. I hate that that’s how shows are structured now cuz you’re just basically saying yea we know the end is gonna be way better. Why go thru the first 7 weeks then? It’s like that with EVERY show released for the last 5 years
You could apply the same logic to the books. Why would an ancient evil being of a class on the magnitude of Sauron and Gandalf decide to just hide in a cave until the end of time? Why would he bother getting up at all if he's just gonna sit and jerk off till the remaking of the world?
it really reveals their nature though, notice how the Orc who Betrayed Adar was questioning his Loyalty the entire time, then betrayed him........ nothing and no one can trust an orc, and Him being killed By Sauron is exactly what he deserved. I do have to give credit to Sauron's manipulative nature here too though. it had to be pretty easy to trick an orc. but given all that Adar had done already, leading them to bring down Eregion, he had no reason to betray Adar, Adar proved that he could lead them to glory, and they could have Killed Sauron.....they could have sided with the dwarves and elves and just outright Killed Sauron again, and then it would have been over just like that, there really could have been peace after that.
@@Keldaj Why oh why they followed Adar paid great casualty to sack the city because they believed Sauron was the worst, and they just switched side, and the show wont show how Sauron converted them, because they don't know how to explain it except mind control.
@@eugene8498 He can't just mind control everyone. If that were true, he wouldn't even need to make rings, would he? He could just snap his fingers and rule the world. The orc was manipulated, his distrust and disloyalty weaponized against him, until he surrendered control of himself to Sauron. That's how it always works. Sauron works his way into your head, and you wind up under his power without even knowing it. That's how it works in the books, and how it works in the show.
@@Revelwoodie He worked into the mind or the orcs in one minute? And off screen? It's just bad writing. They show Sauron mind control the guards who were just determined to kill him to kill each other. Man, he was already more Xavier than Sauron with the one ring in the books. Yes he lived in the city with the guards for weeks, Ok, but the orcs just sacked the city to hunt Sauron. He just mind controlled all of them off screen, in one minute!!! If he could do that (with or without the ring), just go mind control soldiers killing each other. Why would he need any ring. His power is inconsistent af. If he could just mind control just the regular guards, who could have stopped him? Kings will be slaughtered, armies will switch sides. And you know what? He did this without the ring. No, even with the rings he should just be able to control other ring bearers. Cause free will, that's a thing in Tolkien's world.
I really liked this season. Going off some impressions online, I think this show is mostly aimed at people like me - those who love the movies and have a passing interest in the Tolkien world, but don't care too much about the accuracies to the lore.
The way I see it is I love stuff from middle earth universe so anything we get for it is enjoyable and exciting to see live we could live in a world where none of it got transferred onto the screen we got lucky there's a fan base behind this type of fantasy not a lot of humans my age watch it so enjoying as much of it while I can still get it😂
@@fuegoboi5562 And I think that's the opinion to have. I've seen so many people online saying how this show is terrible and garbage, simply because it doesn't stick precisely to the lore and timeline. I understand how that may be annoying as a super-fan, but the performances, cinematography and sheer scale of the show make it second to none in some ways. After a disappointing season 2 for House of the Dragon, this was such a great blast of fantasy for me.
Correct. I'm in the same boat. I love the movies and have a passing interest in Tolkien's universe. The show is fun. I watch it to unplug from reality for an hour. People take this stuff too seriously.
Even if you don't know any lore. The show isn't very good. Unless you're barely watching and just want some sounds and images moving across the screen in front of you
Pro tip: Turn on the captions so you all can delight in hearing about Sauron working with "Caleb Grimshaw", and Kemen discovering that "a steel door" is not dead.
Nope Gandalf did not fully trust or like Saruman even before the betrayal and imprisonment at Orthanc. He only paid Saruman the necessary respect for his role, they were not friends. Even still, I don’t think it’s Saruman and I hope it isn’t. It should be a Blue Wizard.
@@landofalwayswinter666 well technically it should be neither of those 2. Heck why not use one of the others or heck since it’s not lore era correct anyway work with the Tolkiens to creat a new wizard. Though I understand why they did do it though since he’s the worlds top known wizard next to Merlin and Harry Potter. Even with these differences it’s still respectable to the lore hell of a lot more then the writers were to Star Wars with the acolyte’s series. How they spent 180-250 million $ on that series which could have been the next series to rival the Mandalorian series if they did something like the Plagues noval
I love your style of reviewing it's so honest to what's happened and what it relates to instead of a lot of the other disingenuous reviewers spewing their own rhetoric.
Maybe Saruman will be introduced in the next season or so, helping Gandalf defeat the Dark Wizard (aka blue wizark gone bad) therefor starting this relation of trust and common interest with Gandalf
@@mythscion not I believe part of the purchase and making this series is that they must do 5 seasons. Which I’m glad they got this kinda deal done. So the movies are much different then the books and there still amazing movies as are these shows. I’m enjoying this show a ton
@@nerdwatch1017 agreed. I can’t believe how angry some people are being about this show. Sure it changes some things and may not be exactly like the movies (another interpretation btw) but it’s great LOTR content. I would rather that than nothing.
Idk if it was mentioned here at your channel, but actor-wise i still can't unsee Mance Rayder, whenever the dark wizard shows up. :) Great video, thanks for your work!
Olorín (Gandalf) convinced both Curumo (Saruman) and Alatar (one of the blue wizards) to venture to Middle Earth. Given the story with the cult following the dark wizard, him being Alatar would make more sense.
No. Gandelf was the last chosen to go. All the other wizards were already chosen and willing to go. One of the blue wizards was chosen first and he invited his friend the other blue wizards. All others were chosen by valar or volunteered.
The way Elendil picks up the sword, gets it out of the scabbard and looking at it, is exactly the same way Aragorn did. Just another reference to Lord of the Rings : The Return of the King.
Loved that you could see Nori unwinding rope/cord from what would become G’s staff at the beginning of that scene. I usually completely miss things like that but this time I immediately thought “That looks staff-like!”
@@filip1997andersson Agreed but it will still mostly work if it doesn't destroy khazad dum until the final season (along with killing this Durin) making him Durins Bane x2 lol
@@misterhoobomaster assuming the show takes place at the end of the second age or close to it canon states the balrog was awakened T.A 1980 i found it hard to believe the balrog was chilling in that cave for more than 2000 years after it was awakened
I think they canonized the videogame version of Celebrimbor, Sauron sliced his finger on the spear leaving his blood, after just teasing his blood magic to him, which is what the show is telling us about the 9 rings made using his blood that leads to the wraith form
The spirits of Elves who perish do reach the halls of Mandos, but if reincarnated they do not come back to Middle-Earth, with the notable exception of Glorfindel (and that was an exception that Tolkien himself did not agree to lightly). Thus, it is not so plain.
The premonition of Celebrimbor meant as you said. "One alone shall be your doom" is what he should have said as it refers to the ring and where it's made and how itll be his demise but any fan knows what hes referring to yet somehow Nerd of the rings didn't make the connection. Loved how he said the rings will be his prison as it's essentially true.
The cinematics for this were genuinely amazing, the balrog scene earned 4-5 immediate rewatches. This is the quality we should be getting in all of our shows in this point in time there’s no reason they need to look cheap when that’s what can be put out. As far as writing modern shows still have a lot of work to do there
I always thought the Stranger was actually Saruman and that he was sent ahead of the other wizards to learn the magic of Middle-Earth and train the others when they arrive.
Thanks for this video. I checked 3 times to see if you had added this yet! I really enjoyed this season. The scene with Galadriel and Sauron fighting was pretty intense. I still love all the Dwarves the most. I keep wondering where they are all in Lord of the Rings? Did they move from that mountain? Or did they all die? I was thinking the ending they were in the place that would become Rivendell.
Hadn’t watched any of the series before, just binged the first two seasons. Man, Sauron is a psychopath. Very poetic watching Celebrimbor make him taste fear for the first time with that killer defiant-death dialogue. Chills.
I can't believe how many people think it's going to be Saruman. Like have you read the books or seen the movie? Saruman was a good guy which was the whole reason why his betrayal and fall to Sauron was so tragic. Why would not only Gandalf, but Galadriel and Elrond trust him to take care of Sauron? Why would he become the white wizard? He doesn't look like a white wizard so far. I'm more convinced it's a blue wizard, so they have a clean slate for Gandalf do defeat him.
@@justinthomas3771 The writers have read the books. I know there's lot of controversial stuff, but most of that is changing the timeline and mixing things up. However, the dark wizard being Saruman would straight up be character assassination.
Have you not learned anything about Hollywood? Showrunners and directors don't give a flying hoot about source material, they absolutely have to 'make it their own' and to 'put their stamp on it' like good little egomaniacs that they are. Of course they're not going to stick to the books or other peoples films and established mythos, they're going to go their own way, even if it means shitting on the fans' expectations.
@@kristinaF54 That's often true, but this is absolutely not the case. This S2 is being written with love, care and respect for Tolkien's original message, as much as an adaptation can be. Also has beautiful cinematography and great acting. You're not movie critics, having an internet connection doesn't mean you have to act like one because you were triggered.
The dark wizard being Saruman is by far the most egregious breaking of canon. I couldn't give two shits about anything else, nothing in the movie era is broken by Sauron itching his ass counterclockwise when the books said clockwise.
20:52 yeah, Gandalf and Galadriel are 2 characters that would be powerful enough with the Ring of Power to overthrow Sauron and destroy him. But because he poured so much of his malice and evil into it, the ring would corrupt it's wearer and they would become even worse than Sauron. *Edit* That is Sauron *without* the ring. Meaning if Gandalf or Galadriel wore the Master Ring of Power and fought a ring-less Sauron, they could then destroy and overpower Sauron then.
Idk I haven’t read the book but I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the two blue wizards and I really would’ve liked the stranger and the dark wizard to be them. I’d much rather see more of this world on screen
@@emergencyawesomefor sure. I guess so much time passes in the lore that Sauron definitely COULD be the dark wizard and he “redeems” himself later in the series to become part of the group with Gandalf Galadriel and Elrond in the movies but it would be cool if he was just a blue wizard lol
Nori actually holds Gandalf's staff briefly before letting it fall to the ground. She was removing rags from it to salvage for the other proto-hobbits. It might have been a branch from the tree the leader planted that she got married under, but can't confirm that until I re-watch those scenes.
I don't hate the show. I can actually enjoy it because I haven't read the books yet. But the lore I am familiar on for the most part. And from what I understand, they aren't following timelines very well
You mean: AT ALL. Not a single thing in this show follows the lore. Most of the characters are made up and those that exist aren't at all like Tolkien wrote them. Timeline makes no sense. This show is literally 0/10
Even if this wasn't a Tolkien adaptation, as it is, the show is below mediocre, with alot of lame dialogue, action scenes, characters and plot lines. They should've focused almost solely on cele and sauron
If these showrunners were writing historical fiction, I'd expect Abraham Lincoln and Alexander the Great to ride together in a private plane as they oversee the construction of the Pyramid of Giza.
ARONDIR!!!!! I'm so happy my favorite character is all right. I won't lie, I wish they had elaborated more on his wounds. I theorized that Elrond or Galadriel would heal him with Nenya, and Elrond would see that the Elven rings are good. But instead, he used Nenya to heal Galadriel. But I'm just glad Arondir is okay. In my opinion, he is the most Elven-like character on the show, and he deserves so much more screen time. I hope that will be the case in Season 3, now that he's with the Elven A-Team.
I’ve been reading Tolkien continuously for 24 years, definitely not a casual fan, and I am happy with any Gandalf I can get to be honest. Extremely happy with the beautiful visuals this season and seeing Elendil getting Narsil!
I would love to hear more opinions on the single tear but I think Sauron sheds a tear when he kills Celebrimbor also because he knows what Celebrimbor was saying to him is true. He is a Morgoth wannabe and will never be as powerful as Morgoth in his prime. I think he was also a little sad that he killed one of the greatest smiths, being a smith himself, having learned a lot from Celebrimbor and also because he probably saw Cemebrimbor as a trophy. A talented smith who was able to create rings of power for him, he just lost his greatest "tool". I love the irony though, Sauron wanted to rule Middle Earth with rings and is then destroyed by just one ring, which Celebrimbor predicts.
The tear was silly considering how powerful this guy's is supposed to be. I mean he's of the same race as the damn Balrogs. Let that sink in for a sec. I think what happened is that he realized that he let emotions get the best of him and killed Celebrimbor. Remember he wanted to keep Celebrimbor alive until he broke him to submission. But Celebrimbor managed to hurt Sauron's feelings and and push him to react recklessly and stab him. Sauron lost control and realized that Celebrimbor mocking him as Lord of The Rings was the truth. He has become a prisoner to the power of those rings
@@PermanentHigh Gandalf is the same race as a Balrog and Sauron. Pretty sure Gandalf has feelings and has cried lol. But otherwise I agree, Celebrimbor got the best of him word wise in the end.
@@meganjohnson2322 The point is that Sauron is supposed to be this ruthless evil guy, not some sweet boy. That's my problem with these modern shows and movies.
@@PermanentHigh you're right, he is very evil and ruthless. I think any "good" feelings towards Celebrimbor were more selfish. He probably saw Celebrimbor more as a tool or trophy to his evil plan. Even he didn’t deny that Celebrimbor was one of the greatest smiths, aside from Aulé or Feanor.
How can you tell if something is much later in the timeline when so many characters we've met should not be born until almost 2000 years after events which haven't happened yet?
Galadriel talking about "the nine" to a random orc, who is on Adar's comman still, who doesn't want the 9 was super weird. Th orc was like "what 9, wtf".' Also Gilgadaddy (lol) screaming "traitor" to who? To the orcs?. What about Isildur asking to space for 1 more, and then a guy? Stepping up? Wasn't he talking about the girl? (Wife of that random guy walking in front?) Those 3 scenes were so weird. Dark wizard can not be Saruman.
I thought everyone knew it was Gandalf. He said something at the end of season 1 that confirmed it for me. I don’t remember what it was but it was the same thing he used to say in the lord of the rings trilogy.
@@stevemarshall3508 It is not that we didn't know these show runners would want to make it Gandalf, we just hoped that they wouldn't shit all over the lore quite that badly.
@@toddyslittlenook3340 so I just went back to remember what gave it away for me. He said “when in doubt, always follow your nose”. That was something he said in the trilogy often.
you know why i like this channel? because this dude doesn't try to crap on these shows and movies. just gives an explanation. too many of these lotr channels are such cry babies. just enjoy the freaking show!
The dark wizard almost certainly is Saruman, which makes the movies seem odd, because he attacks Gandalf here and shows his true colours, and Gandalf still approaches Saruman for help in the movies as though nothing happened.
This is a complete separate iteration of Lord Of The Rings y’all are thinking they connect lol the Director obviously gives not a single fuck about Peter Jackson movies they’re doing what they want this is a whole separate universe
I think the dark wizard is not Saruman but the blue wizard who founded the cults. Look at his staff. When Gandalf finds his staff, it is the same one he has in Lord of the Rings. Saruman's staff is different. But one of the blue wizards has a staff like the one the dark wizard has in the series. Adar: I think Adar will return in another body. He always gave me the impression that he was in love with Galadriel. Now he has made his peace and I think he also suspected that he would be killed. He will now go to Mandos and be reborn in another body. Perhaps in the body of Galadriel's husband Celeborn, since we haven't seen him in the series yet. He is reported missing and we don't know what happened to him. Maybe that's why he didn't want to tell her his real name.
12:08 Also it should be noted that Isildur Is the only one who knows about Kemen Attempting to destroy the first fleet that was to be sent to middle earth. So Isildur is the biggest threat to his "power" that he has accumulated since the former left on the boat with his father
This is a theory for if the script of ROP isn’t to bad, I believe Durins brother will take the throne in season 3, and when he does, he will send his miners out to get the resources for the payment Durin had previously promised. Durins brother will not believe Durin when he says the Balrog is down there, and will proceed to mine, opening the hole further, letting the Balrog out of the previously far too small hole. That just my theory though, hope you see this and send you’re thoughts
Yeah as soon as you see the halflings clean up the debris from the fight with the dark wizard, Gandalf's staff is immediately recognizable in the debris. Definitely knew at that point who the stranger was.
The writers are using Gandalf as one of the blue wizards not necessarily for just name recognition, but because Gandalf was a ringbearer, and this is the story of the Rings of Power. With this storyline already disconnected, if these were just blue wizards, it would never connect with the larger storyline, but by making the Stranger Gandalf, we can eventually have him connect with the main story, as he has relationships with Cirdan, Elrond, Galadriel, etc. Tolkien wrote quite a bit about wizards coming to Middle-earth during the First Age in Nature of Middle-earth and Unfinished Tales, so this is a really smart move imo. It also adds depth to Gandalf’s relationship and special care for the hobbits (who are also integral to the story of the rings as the ones who ultimately bring about Sauron and the One Ring’s destruction), as he played a part in their eventual migration to the Shire, and vice versa, the Harfoots helped set Gandalf on the path to being a key player in the fall of Sauron. Adds great depth and meaning to a concept Tolkien wrote so little about 🙌🏽
I'm kind of liking the idea of Gandalf being the one to help the hobbits and their migration to the west and to the shire. But also his connection with Nori Brandyfoot. Which is obviously the great, great, great, great, great grandmother of Frodo Baggins/Brandybuck. Makes it so much warmer to think Gandalf just dropping in on each generation making sure they are always safe.
Wont lie there was some flaws in that story. But i like the idea of Gandalf being there when the hobbits needed it, and was the push that sent them to search for the shire again. And also his love and connection for the hobbits. Also having Tom being somewhat close to the hobbits from the start. And providing Gandalf his path to protect them gaining his staff and knowing his purpose. Tom must of known there part to play later on. Allot you can take from this.. I try to be a glass half full type.
For me highlight of this season was scenes with Isildur and Estrid. Also Theo. All scenes in middle earth in the village were really good. I wish they gave them more screen time. The episode with the horse was absolutely top tier. I hope they focus more on this in season 3. Isildur is such a great character. I hope he can find his peace with Estrid sometime in the series.
@@queenb2450it is normal to criticise objectively poor writing. We have real problem occuring with toxic positivity because this show is completely illgoical with so many decisions the characters make, really bad world building, too many stories, lack of character development, cosmopolitan populations etc. If you enjoy it fair enough but it's very worrying that criticism that is very valid is frowned upon. I could name so many errors each episode and I only do that because the show destroys and immersion with it's ridiculousness
I couldn’t stop laughing. The Uruk said, “many Uruk will…” the face of second Uruk that ran to tell others to continue fighting killed me. Like 😅Didn’t he just kill Arda for you?
I was wondering how the dark wizard could be Saruman until you said Gandalfs staff changed when he was reincarnated. That actually makes total sense that he could be killed next season and come back in a different body as Saruman with a different staff!
No. The wizards always look the same and they recognize each other. The dark wizard is one of the blues gone rogue. Saruman was not corrupted until after they fought sauron late in the 3rd age. He was only an ally of mordor for a few years before the ring was destroyed.
Y’all don’t know how frustrated I am with this Finale. The stranger being Gandalf, how Adar was killed so recklessly he one of my fav characters, how Arondir survived his encounter with Adar, and the fight between Galadriel and Sauron just wasting minutes with his attempts of manipulating her when he knows she won’t be on his side just pointless.
Season 2 was amazing. 5 stars from me. They captured Sauron power of deceipt perfectly. He was a supernatural wayward angel in human form and they were able to embody that in this series.
@@magister343it's a reflection on why so much rubbish is produced today and why so many things go unchecked. I'm in utter shock how people can love this unironically. You just have to be someone that cosumes and consumes without ever questioning
The showrunners are just messing up the whole timeline, but it's still watchable once you ditch the idea of the series being book-accurate. I'm still pissed that it isn't though, just like the wheel of time.
Yeah I don't think, and I kinda hope that, this Dark Wizard isn't Saruman, mainly because it'd cause even someone as normie like myself, who never read the books, to start getting confused about why Gandalf would see "Saruman" try to drop a rock on him, but later be friends with Saruman, only to see Saruman join Sauron later. That seems way too weird.
It was pretty funny how every time Aaron deer showed up next to gilgalad and elrond that Galadriel just looked at it to him like what are you doing here
Does anyone else feel that Tom Bombadil might actually turn out to beTree Beard? Both initials of the characters are T.B. Also, in The Two Towers, Treebeard tells one of the trees "You should not be waking, eat earth, dig deep, drink water." And then in episode 4 Tom tells the tree the exact same thing.
Unstead of thinking of Adar as a made up character, I think he might be the embodiment of the Morwë and Nurwë...the elves that refused the summons of Oromë, and chose to stay in the starlight than bask in the light of the two trees of Valinor. I still think that "The Dark Wizard" is one of the Blue Wizards. We really don't know much about the blue wizards, so choosing that one of them be a little darker than the rest is easier to explain than Saruman would be. Then again...If it IS Saruman, it is before he became Saruman the white...and seeing that Gandalf only became Gandalf the white after he "died", maybe Saruman started as Saruman the dark wizard, then died, and came back as Saruman the white?
I have been waiting all day for your breakdown. The Gandalf reveal was very disappointing, in my opinion. I was definitely on the team of the wizards being the blue wizards. The timeline is all out of order with this. The books are everything to me, and this season was going so well until this. I did like how Sauron was portrayed. To me him and Calabrimbor were the highlights of season 2. We should see Sauron go to Numanor and build the temple to Morgoth in season 3, but time will tell. I just couldn't wait to hear your opinion.
Absolutely!! The time frame is all off with the wizards being Gandolf and Sarumon. Any followers of true Tolkien lore should be disappointed by this finale. The season was decent, but the finale threw a huge wrench into everything.
Numenoreans should have been a major Settler-Colonialist superpower dominating and abusing the lesser men of Middle Earth for well over a thousand years before any of the human characters in this show were born.

How good of a smith was sauron would be a great video
My thoughts exactly. He teared because of the truth Celebrimbor said to him before he died.
I like to think that was Sauron’s first taste of fear/doubt, delivered with icy precision by Celebrimbor (phenomenal scene)
Good input. Wise words!
I hope it's not Saruman. Retconning or not it would make Gandalf an idiot for not seeing Saruman go bad again. Fool me once and all that
no its some dumb blue wizard
They will just have gandalf lose his memory. Theres no explanation for why he has no memory to start the show, so its no problem to just have him lose his memory again.
@@ajromulus oh, the writing in that series is aiming to challenge skibidi toilet :|
Saruman did travel east, though likely to stop evil that was happening in the east. I think we will see Saruman and he helps take down the dark wizard. If you look at the dark wizard's staff it looks similar to Sarumans.
There is still the possibility they both get „destroyed“ and sent back in the 3rd age when Sauron returns, their memory erased… a second chance so to speak to defeat Sauron once and for all… which Saruman fumbles again with his lust for power
Gandalf forgot about his life in Valinor too in the books and lost at least parts of his memory for a time when he returned as the White
Sauron really comes off as an abusive, gaslighting ex who shows up to give his victim one more chance and does not take it well when she rejects him. Sauron, honey, maybe you shouldn't have ordered the razing of Eregion right before you made your pitch.
😂😂😂😂 so true. Galadriel even helps him along the way.
I was so upset at Adar being killed off. I guess he had to be, but (to my horror), for some reason I ended up loving this made-up character!
He was the best thing about the show. The original corrupted elf, who just wanted a peaceful homeland for the orcs. Bro simply forgot that orcs are corrupted to the core
I understand that he was supposed to die earlier, but the writers knew what a great character he was so they extended his arc.
I really liked him too, horrible death
You liked him because they ruined the other characters so horribly that he was the only good character in the show... The whole thing is like a ten year old wrote it as a stream of consciousness.. there's no logic behind any of it and the dialogue is atrocious. I hope we get a better adaptation although after this nobody is going to want to touch this ip
They had to cause it explains why the orcs are subservient to Sauron. I did feel bad for Adar though
The Dark Wizard says in this episode, “Pity will not save Middle Earth!” Ironic, as it was literally Frodo’s pity for Gollum that saved Middle Earth.
Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand
bro that is why they added that line. its a cheap easter egg and lazy writing. "OMG HE SAID THE THING"

I loved how the balrog, a mighty demon of the ancient world who destroyed whole cities, ate one dwarf and then just decided to chill instead 🙃
So, the rocks that sealed that part of the mountain in the whole fiasco is not enough to make it chill?
I don't think he chilled. I think once the cavern was sealed, he was unable to get back up.
You could apply the same logic to the books. Why would an ancient evil being of a class on the magnitude of Sauron and Gandalf decide to just hide in a cave until the end of time? Why would he bother getting up at all if he's just gonna sit and jerk off till the remaking of the world?
@@cosmicmuffin322 takes a long time to chew on cured dwarf meat lol

I like how Sauron killed that traitor like a fly. Adar was my fav character
it really reveals their nature though, notice how the Orc who Betrayed Adar was questioning his Loyalty the entire time, then betrayed him........
nothing and no one can trust an orc, and Him being killed By Sauron is exactly what he deserved.

IMO it should definitely not be Saruman because if it was then your telling me Gandalf knew he was already bad before but forgot by the fellowship

By the looks of it. The writers haven't even read the books, so using that as a frame of reference doesn't make sense at this point.
@@justinthomas3771 The writers have read the books. I know there's lot of controversial stuff, but most of that is changing the timeline and mixing things up. However, the dark wizard being Saruman would straight up be character assassination.
Have you not learned anything about Hollywood? The dark wizard being Saruman is by far the most egregious breaking of canon. I couldn't give two shits about anything else, nothing in the movie era is broken by Sauron itching his ass counterclockwise when the books said clockwise.
20:52 yeah, Gandalf and Galadriel are 2 characters that would be powerful enough with the Ring of Power to overthrow Sauron and destroy him. But because he poured so much of his malice and evil into it, the ring would corrupt it's wearer and they would become even worse than Sauron.
*Edit*
That is Sauron *without* the ring. Meaning if Gandalf or Galadriel wore the Master Ring of Power and fought a ring-less Sauron, they could then destroy and overpower Sauron then.
The ring only had one master and it was Sauron

This episode was just off the hook. So much going on, so much that needs to be unpacked and answered in season 3. Also was that Rivendell at the end?
I definitely think that it was more so that Celebrimbor got the best of him in his dying words.
@@PermanentHigh Gandalf is the same race as a Balrog and Sauron. Pretty sure Gandalf has feelings and has cried lol. But otherwise I agree, Celebrimbor got the best of him word wise in the end.

The staff he got is not from Fellowship. The staff he uses in Fellowship was the Staff that was given to him by Radagast.

The dark wizard almost certainly is Saruman, which makes the movies seem odd, because he attacks Gandalf here and shows his true colours, and Gandalf still approaches Saruman for help in the movies as though nothing happened.

It's not Saruman (showrunners confirmed it)
I really hope so
12:08 Also it should be noted that Isildur Is the only one who knows about Kemen Attempting to destroy the first fleet that was to be sent to middle earth. So Isildur is the biggest threat to his "power" that he has accumulated since the former left on the boat with his father
Thank you
You're welcome! I tried to finish my Rings Of Power Finale video. There's a ton of stuff happening this week!
This was a really good episode Thanks Charlie
Yeah as soon as you see the halflings clean up the debris from the fight with the dark wizard, Gandalf's staff is immediately recognizable in the debris. Definitely knew at that point who the stranger was.
Balrog, more like Fallrog
That entire plotline was not needed one bit.
This is a terrible show, so expensive and so bad compared with LOR of Peter Jackson.
This show don’t deserve a 3rd season.
@@yohancemedina7733 It's a bad LOTR show, but an ok fantasy show. It just needs more masculine characters and more adventure with more combat
@@PermanentHighimagine telling LOTR fans that a hobbit and Gandalf origin story wasn’t needed
I hope it's a blue wizard. Sarumon shouldn't be that blatantly evil
What a season finale
I love the grand elf, Gandalf reveal ❤
I wish it was not Gandalf, but great second season
For me highlight of this season was scenes with Isildur and Estrid. Also Theo. All scenes in middle earth in the village were really good. I wish they gave them more screen time. The episode with the horse was absolutely top tier. I hope they focus more on this in season 3. Isildur is such a great character. I hope he can find his peace with Estrid sometime in the series.
It's refreshing to see a channel that does not bash the show unlike all the rage-baiting channels that try to capitalize on it
THANK YOU! I was lookig for something that doesn't. Why can't people just be normal???
@@queenb2450it is normal to criticise objectively poor writing. We have real problem occuring with toxic positivity because this show is completely illgoical with so many decisions the characters make, really bad world building, too many stories, lack of character development, cosmopolitan populations etc. If you enjoy it fair enough but it's very worrying that criticism that is very valid is frowned upon. I could name so many errors each episode and I only do that because the show destroys and immersion with it's ridiculousness
@@Alfie-ps6ll dude Tolkien would hate you. Shut up.
I am glad to see one reviewer just reviewing this absolute masterpiece in high school grade storytelling 😊
Adar was one of the most interesting parts of the show. I guess his backstory and identity will remain a mystery.
I couldn’t stop laughing. The Uruk said, “many Uruk will…” the face of second Uruk that ran to tell others to continue fighting killed me. Like 😅Didn’t he just kill Arda for you?
@@julianokeke3466 Adar* lol Arda is an actual place in the lotr mythos

You're pointless!
Honestly Charlie you are our calemblembor.... The best UA-cam creator. Thank you so much sir
Season 2 was amazing. 5 stars from me. They captured Sauron power of deceipt perfectly. He was a supernatural wayward angel in human form and they were able to embody that in this series.
It may have been better than season 1, but even giving it 3 stars would be way too generous.
@@magister343it's a reflection on why so much rubbish is produced today and why so many things go unchecked. I'm in utter shock how people can love this unironically. You just have to be someone that cosumes and consumes without ever questioning
They really started cooking this season...and yeah Gandalf we called it!!
hi Emergency Awesome
yo!
The showrunners are just messing up the whole timeline, but it's still watchable once you ditch the idea of the series being book-accurate. I'm still pissed that it isn't though, just like the wheel of time.
Calabrimbore died in the same fashion as Galadriels vision.
In the book he actually becomes Sauron's banner and Sauron uses his blood to keep Celebrimbor alive on his banner
Well that is implied in his death...being impaled on a flagstaff
Yeah I don't think, and I kinda hope that, this Dark Wizard isn't Saruman, mainly because it'd cause even someone as normie like myself, who never read the books, to start getting confused about why Gandalf would see "Saruman" try to drop a rock on him, but later be friends with Saruman, only to see Saruman join Sauron later.
That seems way too weird.
It was pretty funny how every time Aaron deer showed up next to gilgalad and elrond that Galadriel just looked at it to him like what are you doing here
@@charliedulin shout out Aaron Deer
@@tannerduy6887 speech to text gets some Elf names correct but obviously not all of them😁 Maybe only the important one and Arondir just isn't 🤣
This show is so good 🔥🔥🔥📺
Unstead of thinking of Adar as a made up character, I think he might be the embodiment of the Morwë and Nurwë...the elves that refused the summons of Oromë, and chose to stay in the starlight than bask in the light of the two trees of Valinor.
Season 2 was a big improvement over the first one. The writing was more fluid and the characters had more substance in my opinion.
Exactly we were able to actually connect with the characters...
Gil-galad in armour during the last scene looked freakin sick like how a elf warrior King is supposed to be portrayed as.
I haven’t read the books but I agree with you. I would’ve rather seen the blue wizards based on what I’ve read/watched of people discussing the books.
Absolutely!! The time frame is all off with the wizards being Gandolf and Sarumon. Any followers of true Tolkien lore should be disappointed by this finale. The season was decent, but the finale threw a huge wrench into everything.
I agree this show messed up pretty good canon that was already established
@npierce14 AGREED!! Even if you were just a LOTR movie fan, they messed it up. Book fans like myself have to be upset with the ending of this season.
@@ReggiePerez1784 yea I get annoyed with book fans always complaining but man they butchered a already get canon
Just watched battle of the 5 armies and Gandalf gets his staff from the brown wizard in that movie that looks exactly like the one he found.
The numeronians acting like colonisers to the Southerners is what would drive them back to sauron again i fear.
Numenoreans should have been a major Settler-Colonialist superpower dominating and abusing the lesser men of Middle Earth for well over a thousand years before any of the human characters in this show were born.
