not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet anywhere, but SM33 could just be an easter egg to Mr. SMEE from Peter Pan. He was captain Hook's boatswain (also a pirate).
Okay, so Jod HAS to be a Jedi youngling that escaped Order 66. That talk he gave to Wim about attachments sounds VERY similar to how the Jedi would warn about the danger of attachment. Plus how natural he was at handling that lightsaber. Not to mention it would also explain his lack of trust and numerous names. Being betrayed by the clones and then spending decades in hiding from the Empire would mess anyone up.
Yes I think he was a youngling maybe not quite a Padewan yet. Possibly a failed Youngling. I assume not complete their training. Maybe he failed and was released after not passing some trail or other.
Another thing with Wim and the lightsaber is that he’s clearly holding it upside down, which is a recurring joke in Star Wars with non-Jedi users not knowing how lightsabers work or which direction to hold them. I think they used the direction joke more than once in the Clone Wars series.
This show is much better than I thought, i love this show. My guess is this show will come to the movie theaters. Because it is so good and anyone who was around like i was when Goonies/Treasure Island will want their kids to see this.

Cthulhu is himself a member of a species called Cthulhi, that in Ancient times like far before Cambrium invaded the Earth and had conflict with species called Elder Things - they colonized the Earth long before and had nuclear war with Cthulhu, they have amoeba-like servants called Shoggoth, that are like biological robots created by Elder Things. After the war Elder Things and Cthulhi divided the planet. Cthulhi chose to live on the dry land, because Cthulhu and his species actually hate water. Cthulhi has multiple Great Ancient members, that are considered gods, one of them is Cthulhu, that's de facto ruller of Cthulhi on Earth. You can learn more about them in the short stories The Call of Cthulhu and The Mountains of Madness. The Mountains of Madness almost became a movie. But you can see the Elder Things in Hellboy 2
I was wondered whether they were given/loaned lightsabers for training or had made their own. Of course I didn't watch the whole movie, but just saw that scene with the younglings. Funny that the terms "kids" and "grownups" used by Fern sound more American than Star Wars.
Here's some fun Six Degrees info on Kelly MacDonald aka Pokkit. She was also in Trainspotting and Trainspotting 2 (amongst many other movies and shows; she's an amazing actress). Jude Law was once roommates with (and still good friends with) Johnny Lee Miller and the man, the myth Ewan McGregor! Who of course were both in Trainspotting and T2 with Kelly MacDonald. Both Jude and Ewan need to pull some strings and get Johnny Lee Miller in Star Wars ASAP
I think At Attin still is a functioning mint for whoever the successor state of the republic was. The adults are still doing work for 'the republic'. The Great work continues. The real question is, were they acting as the Mint for the Empire? And who are they Mint for now? The New Republic or the First Order!
Right?!? I’m wondering how the thing has kept going all this time. Reminds me a bit of how the entire clone army was built in secret. Whose secret will this one turn out to be?
Mining and minting probably isn't that efficient use of people's time and labor. I think the Great Work is analysis or modeling of the galactic economy, even if their data is out of date. If they come up with a good model, then it could be of value to the New Republic. If they have commodity money that goes to the New Republic, I'm not sure how that helps their de-valued currency in circulation.
I'm trying to spread the word that this show is GOOD! Star Wars fans just want well-written stories and characters, we're not haters! GO SKELETON CREW! and this is from a grown OT era white man. Yes, the Goonies and Indiana Jones vibes are fun and nostalgic, but it's not a rip-off. This show weaves its influences well, and it's undoubtedly got classic SW vibe, too. Hoping they stick the finale and we get a season two if they do.
I’m pretty sure his memory got messed up. Anything related to At-Attin was removed. Also if captain Rennod was killed in a mutiny then either his killer or the highest ranking officer of the mutineers would be the new captain so maybe he thought she defeated that person, not Rennod.
I don't think his intent is to turn on the kids... He definitely DOES want the treasure. But I think his betrayal was more of a "you're in over your heads this is for your own good" moment. He's shown thst he does genuinely care about the kids, but he has gone out of his way to stay at arms length. Like he said "forget about your attachments" He knows he's not a hero, and doesn't want the kids to get too close to him when eventually he has to leave them or he gets killed. I didn't have high expectations coming into this series and I have been pleasantly surprised. We probably won't see the kids again after this series, but I would not be surprised if Jod shows up in other areas of the Mandoverse, such as "Heir to the Empire" and Ahsoka S2
Dumb question that we may get an answer to in future episodes: hasn’t anyone on At Attin noticed that no one from the Republic has picked up a shipment of newly minted credits for a thousand years? You don’t just print money indefinitely-they wouldn’t have enough metal to just keep minting for all this time. Are they just taking credits they made ten years ago and melting them down for recasting? Or is someone secretly picking up the credits and bringing new ore in to be refined and minted? I have so many questions!
No. Because everyone is a bureaucrat. There are no dockworkers in the population because all manual labor is done by droids. Everyone we know of is a financial analyst. What are they analyzing? Galactic financial data apparently, but that begs the questions. Are there secret comlinks that lets At Attin control galactic finances without anyone realizing it?
The only thing I can think of that was not answered at the time, was that it paid for the Clones and the Republic Fleet at the beginning of Attack of the Clones. Sifodios ordered the clones and someone ordered that fleet, so who paid for it.
I don't think mining and minting is now their main work, or Great Work. They probably do some financial modeling or something, whether real or make-believe I don't know. However, I think they do have some shipments of credits ready to go.
@@newkkl remember in episode one where Niel says that he heard that once a kid didn’t pass his exams and got sent to “the mines”. So that indicate that there are mines. Likely they are erodium mines which would allow them to keep minting. Also the planet could hold what would have been the republic reserves to cover digital transactions. So would not have had to have been an actually circulated.
IDK if its a thing, but the staff that Fern grabbed in the treasure room is similar to the staff on the wall in the background of her mom's office.(@3:26)
I find it hard to make a redemption arc for a character that just killed a bunch of people by burning them in acid and then threatened to kill some children.
If they go with _Treasure Planet_ based on _Treasure Island,_ he will choose the kids over the treasure but get away and escape justice. He needs to face justice for the people he murdered like the freighter's crew and captain. It's a duality or nuanced situation: He helped or will help them, but he's done bad things and needs to be punished; like a relative who has turned to crime.
Not an '80s movie, but from 1992, so close enough. I was thinking they needed a pet animal; but they have one. However, their pet rat hasn't done much.

@7:28 ‘If they’d followed the autopilot, they’d have gotten home sooner’ …except that they’d never have gotten past the traps; they’d have never gotten past the guards at the hotel, being that kids aren’t allowed. Lots of holes in the theory that they’d have gotten home faster; they’d probably not have gotten home at all on that path.
5 bucks says he is an inquisitor. And the lightsaber was so much shade at the last 3 films. If you don't know what you are doing with a sword, you are most dangerous to yourself. I'm glad they did htat.
I think Neils father is the leader and the original pirate that left that treasure room with all the traps, the hologram they see just looks like its the same species as Neil plus the gold statue is the same as him so i am like 80% sure his dad or grandpa are the leader of atatin
It's much more leading up to be Wim's mother was the concubine. Or something, but at the same time, it's seems the ship was there much too long to be connected to any of the parents? Cool that it's not too obvious.
It would be lame if there's a relationship with the parents. I think in this episode they said the Captain was stabbed by his concubine, but set the ship to crash. So he might be the one with the knife in him and hand on the switch.
@@sandal_thong8631 33 was the one that said that the captain was killed and we already know we cant trust the robots memory so I dont believe the captain died on that ship. Otherwise why did they hide his identity in the hologram?
Why does no one remember "your focus determines your reality" was said by Qui Gon in Episode 1!! He told it to Obi Wan in that first scene in the trade federation shipp omggg!
DONT FORGET LUKE’s GRANDSON CADE WAS KIDNAPPED BY PIRATES It was from the legacy of the four star horse comic series. Cade was kidnapped a lot older though. It’s very likely that he was just barely undergoing training when he was adopted by the Pirates so he didn’t even have to really escape order 66 because that’s so cliché at this point Maybe he was lost to the pirates and his master was searching for him and would’ve found him because he’s chasing down mere pirates BUT INSTEAD ORDER 66 OR THE INQUISITORS GOT THE JEDI FIRST And some kid with less than a year training probably doesn’t really count to them or maybe it does but it’s like the lowest priority
The question I still have though is will Nod Nod Jawadow when seeing the pirates possibly capture the kids and probably make them walk some form of plank will he save them?
They might make John Silvo one of the child padawans that escaped the room that Anakin slaughtered 😅 Edit: I think the pleasure planet Lanupa was built there to look for the coordinates to AT-Attin. Without people figuring out the emperor was looking for it to fund the cloning/first order/exeghul(sp?)
My theory is that Jod is a former Jedi Padawan, having a master similar to Quinlan Vos, that are good at infiltrating places like the underworld, who sometimes need to do shady stuff to blend in, and then act the will of the Jedi. When order 66 happened, and all the Jedi, followed Obi-wans instructions to stay safe and hidden, which is what he did. Also they could tie stuff into the Obi-wan show, remember that chick from GOT who was part of an organisation who helped smuggle surviving Jedi out to the outer rim, Jod could of been one of those Jedi who was smuggled out. Quinlan Vos was another. Once Jod got to the outer rim, he did what he needed to do to survive. Hide his force abilities, and join shady organisations to hide and survive, hense him becoming a pirate. I feel like that in the next episode or the second last when hes with the kids again, he will tell his story with flash backs to order 66.
Good point Charlie. The whole corporate developer capitalism bit taking over Skull Island is so meta, like poking fun of Disney themselves, e.g. online attack dogs complain about Disney (and their shills) buying up IPs like Star Wars, like how Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean repackage infamous pirate depravity and lore into a tourist spectacle.
Merry Christmas and I love how spaced out and how we can actually get into the characters since it’s not a regular 6 episode season. It really much is goonies is space!
Well I am still surprised noone realized or mentions that "your focos determinen your reality" is the same lesson Qui-gon Jinn gives Anakin. And he was focus on the living force unlike Yoda or the rest.
Obviously heavy speculation that its a mint, but I am still not convinced that nine planets I think were cut off from the rest of the galaxy for an unknown reason for monetary reasons, but we shall see.
That hologram of that pirates captain could have been that smuggler from the knights of the old republic trailer. Her could have gone from smuggler to pirate in the old republic. I think Jude laws character was a youngling who escaped order 66 and went to smuggler to pirate, but now is beginning to become a Jedi
One thing I've been wondering about is the comment Fern makes in ep. 1, about the kid who was taken to some mines after failing the career test. Think about it, If its a mint for currency that uses a certain type of metal, isn't it likely that the planet mines that metal? maybe the story has some truth.
Maybe At Attin falls to the First Order and that's how Starkiller base was financed. There would have been insane sums of money to create such a super weapon and it doesn't go noticed?? It would if folks didn't realize money wasn't missing, just came from a different source. It's suspicious, but you look away more easily if you're making money too (re Canto Bight storyline)
Besides the Mandalorian season 1/2, I actually think this is the best thing Disney have produced in regards to Star Wars since they bought it. It's just such a fun show and it reminds me a lot of the original trilogy, with the type of humor and the sense of adventure that it instills in you.
I guess that's one way to appeal to OT fans: set Star Wars shows and movies around the time of the OT. Although I didn't like Rogue One's retcons, and the implication that someone there "helped" Luke destroy the Death Star when even a targeting computer couldn't make the shot.
Nah. "Andor" is the only show worthy of being called 'great'. This show is mediocre at best. Still better than "The Acolyte", "Obi-Wan Wan" and "Book of Boba Fett" though.
Not sure that I trust Jude Law's character, but definitely not sure that him challenging Fern was him betraying the kids.....Him being in charge means that he his the main target, not the kids...

It’s very likely that he was just barely undergoing training when he was adopted by the Pirates so he didn’t even have to really escape order 66 because that’s so cliché at this point
Maybe he was lost to the pirates and his master was searching for him and would’ve found him because he’s chasing down mere pirates BUT INSTEAD ORDER 66 OR THE INQUISITORS
GOT THE JEDI FIRST
And some kid with less than a year training probably doesn’t really count to them or maybe it does but it’s like the lowest priority
Idont think he double cross them. He understands the kids will get them killed. He needs to make quick decisions in order to get out alive.
I'm hoping that's part of it. He'll need SM-33 reacting immediately to his commands.
@@kirkdarling4120 correct. Everytime he need to do something they are questioning him and making things harder. He needs them to sit down somewhere.
The kids look like characters from Pirates of the Caribbean. Fern looks like Dave Jones with the scarf hanging down like the tentacles.
That was Wim. Fern just had a hood on
The question I still have though is will Nod Nod Jawadow when seeing the pirates possibly capture the kids and probably make them walk some form of plank will he save them?
They might make John Silvo one of the child padawans that escaped the room that Anakin slaughtered 😅
Edit: I think the pleasure planet Lanupa was built there to look for the coordinates to AT-Attin. Without people figuring out the emperor was looking for it to fund the cloning/first order/exeghul(sp?)
No, or they'd have found it straightaway. I think it is what it seemed: A resort built on pirate ruins.
Some look like pirates of the Carribean!
Charlie is the hardest working reviewer on UA-cam. I've been following you since your work since 2016. Keep up the amazing work
Appreciate that!
There’s 3 episodes left.
Yep!
"Your focus determines your reality" was a qui-gon quote
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas!
You forgot to mention that gorgeous Julie Emery, from "Preacher" and "Better Call Saul" played the Hotelier in this episode too.
Merry Christmas hope everyoen has great holidays. 🎄🎄
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and I love how spaced out and how we can actually get into the characters since it’s not a regular 6 episode season. It really much is goonies is space!
Merry Christmas!
Well I am still surprised noone realized or mentions that "your focos determinen your reality" is the same lesson Qui-gon Jinn gives Anakin. And he was focus on the living force unlike Yoda or the rest.
The funniest part is when that Cthonic character smells Jod and tells the kids that they can't trust him. Then Neel smells Jod.
Disney telling Star Wars to chill on use of the word Wizard is so wizard.🧙♂️
Obviously heavy speculation that its a mint, but I am still not convinced that nine planets I think were cut off from the rest of the galaxy for an unknown reason for monetary reasons, but we shall see.
Can’t stand the way they wrote Wim. He better have a major story arc that lands him in a mindset that doesn’t make him a complete idiot.
Happy Holidays Charlie
Happy Holidays!
Is that mystery figure in the holo projection Hondo Onaka?
That hologram of that pirates captain could have been that smuggler from the knights of the old republic trailer. Her could have gone from smuggler to pirate in the old republic. I think Jude laws character was a youngling who escaped order 66 and went to smuggler to pirate, but now is beginning to become a Jedi
Fern's costume is a refference to Davy Jones xD
The mutiny after the captain found the coordinates to At Attin is so Pirates of the Caribbean
One thing I've been wondering about is the comment Fern makes in ep. 1, about the kid who was taken to some mines after failing the career test. Think about it, If its a mint for currency that uses a certain type of metal, isn't it likely that the planet mines that metal? maybe the story has some truth.
"Your focus determines your reality." - Qui-Gon to Young Anakin
Plot twist SM-33 is the priate king
what about the ur-Kittât inscriptions on a cavern wall that was also in Ahsoka on Peridea and Zeffo Jedi Fallen Order Kujet?
Maybe At Attin falls to the First Order and that's how Starkiller base was financed.
There would have been insane sums of money to create such a super weapon and it doesn't go noticed??
It would if folks didn't realize money wasn't missing, just came from a different source. It's suspicious, but you look away more easily if you're making money too (re Canto Bight storyline)
P.S. the Bratric versions of the kids are the action figures I never knew I needed
Loving this show!
Best episode so far, loved The Hutt in the Spa!
Great breakdown Charlie
Thanks!
could Neel be the kid of Rennod? 😮😮😮
no
@@emergencyawesome hahaha wooosh so fast - ok but not a descendant either? we're a hundred percent that there were no survivors from the ship?
ancient 'little people' not the m word😮
Jod did not recognize the b1 battle droid. He was not raised among the Jedi during the clone wars. Maybe a 66 survivor found him and taught him
Showing my Country's Money as an example of inflation brought back some bad memories 😢
One 3 episodes left
I do have a theory but I hope it’s incorrect. I think they’re going to introduce Raven
Disney decided this would be resort episodes day first What If…? and now The Skeleton Crew! 😂💀
Thank you for this video.
My pleasure!
Thanks Charlie.
What a scoundrel
Merry Christmas Charlie.❤
Merry Christmas!
What if he was a surviving youngling and witnessed Anakin's slaughter while hidden?
Thank you
You're welcome!
Not sure that I trust Jude Law's character, but definitely not sure that him challenging Fern was him betraying the kids.....Him being in charge means that he his the main target, not the kids...
Speculation: So what if Neels father is Renard.
Maybe thats why the golden stature of neels people was in there to?
see, that's how you know they're not ortolans; max doesn't have any tusks
Loved this episode! Thank you Charlie! Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas!
KB's look reminds me a bit of Khans in Star Trek 2 at the beginning when he enters the Botany Bay.
I have a feeling that Silvo is Petro, one of those padawans in the clone wars. Just a wild guess.
Merry Christmas Charlie and everyone else!
Merry Christmas 🎄
Kids disguises left to right Davey Jones , Old Ben , The Scarecrow, Little Red Riding Hood.
