I can't stand when people try and justify it as part of the fantasy genre, it's simply terrible storytelling. If she survives that fall, and the volcano, I have to work under the assumption that she has superhuman durability , yet thats not at all consistent with what we see in the rest of the series. With that kind of durability she should just shrug off orc arrows etc. The writers and show runners simply care very little about whether any of this makes sense.

REMINDER... in the 4th age Aragorn WIPES OUT every single orc in the all the lands. There is not a single orc left, that was Aragorns major contribution in his Age of Men. The more this show tries to make orcs sympathetic the more evil they are making future Aragorn.
Well, yeah.... Aragorn is white! It's really stupid making sympathetic orcs and then killing the 'representation' by Adar, of all people.. I mean, half-orc. But this show makes no sense to begin with, right?
Technically, someone could argue that the orcs are somewhat manufactured if Sauron mandated deliberately treating them like crap, so only the strong or psychopathic survive. You could argue that orcs are redeemable, but also argue that any group of orcs would have already killed an orc that was more interested in artistic endeavours or niceness than murder. If an elf stumbled across an orphaned orc baby and raised it, would it be evil? I think you just have to accept them as evil and symbolic and not ask too many questions (such as how they would survive long enough to be able to hold a sword without some form of maternal instinct). I mean don't Legolas and Gimli has an orc murdering contest?
It's the modern times trying to make the bad guys at least look less bad, misunderstood or outright the good guy.... See all of the batman villains (everyone except two-face is outright evil), the devil, orcs etc...
@@victorcates9330 But you can't argue these things. The orcs are irredeemable save by the Grace of Eru Iluvatar. That included orphaned Orc babies. That is established by Tolkien. They just are pure evil, because they were warped by Morgoth. It is what it is.
it's not just about experience, imo. keep in mind the directors of Game of Thrones also didn't come in with any experience (and judging by the last season, didn't leave with any either 🤣) it's also about the theme of the show. The Penguin is about a villian, just like Game of Thrones and House of Dragons is about fetishizing villians. that comes very easy to Hollywood people (i wonder why 🤣). But the themes in the Lord of the Rings trilogy (i didn't read the books, so i can't comment on them) is about kindness, heroism, friendship, solidarity, self sacrifice, etc. you know: things that are not evil. so nobody in Hollywood can relate to that. so they tried to Game-ofThronesify this series, but without wanting to go as far as Game of Thrones did. so they created this bastard of a show that doesn't appeal to anybody. i like the term that another commenter used, he called it "Hatefiction". the showrunners, writers, actors, producers of Rings of Power hate The Lord of the Rings. they hated the sentiments of the movies, they hated the characters, they hated that people like something that's not fetishizing sociopaths and they hated the fans. they didn't wanna remake it, they were forced to because Amazon owns the rights to it, and so they created this abomination of a show. but when they get to make something that's consistent with their own culture (meaning: something that's sociopathic), they can do a reasonably good job at it.
The dwarves magically, suddenly appear on top of the walls of a city under siege by orcs, and we thought the elves were blind. Everyone's blind in this show, everyone is teleporting. This entire show is a mad circus.
Remember the 10 or so hours of the Peter Jackson movies? There they actually managed to make it feel like it took time to travel places! Here in 16-ish hours they've still managed to make it seem like everyone's just arrived by private jets or something.
Hell no one notices the dwarves until they blow their horns. They couldve just walked around and chopped down every orc without anyone ever knowing they were even there

@@TheRandomViewer-zv4bv I agree, I was thinking theyd use that excuse to introduce Celeborn, since every male on this show seemingly wants to "storm her Helms Deep"
Al Pharazon and Elendil were not even born when Eregion was sacked they were born about 1500 years later. Celeborn was with Galadriel in Eregion they left for Lothlorien before Sauron attacked. The King of Numenor sent 600,000 men of Numenor to defeat Sauron. The Oath of Feanor was a curse to the Noldor and Celebrimbor was the last of line of Feanor. They should have started the series with Elros in Numenor. Galadriel had a Goblin Glider Kit and Elrond enervated her.
Celeborn kicked ass in Eregion in the books. He’s the main hero who routed several enemy forces. Galadriel took the Moria rode as she was best friends with the dwarves just like Finrod Felagund was. ❤

Fun thing about Galadriels jump.. correct me if i am wrong, i base it on my understanding of the show, but.. - Ring cured Adar, when he wore it, so implication is, ring has healing factor when its worn - Galadriel wears the ring, and takes it off before the jump, for no reason, basically just as a f you gesture to Sauron: A) She takes off the ring that might heal her from the fall B) She risks death in territory full of enemies(Orcs), basically risking giving the ring to Sauron anyway. Cause if memory serves she has no idea what is going on with the rest of the Elves, so there was no logical reason to assume that Elf will find her dead body instead of Orc.. So than why not give the ring to Sauron anyway and live to fight another day? what is the plan here?

Elendil owned Narsil all along. It was an heirloom of the House of Elros, given to his ancestor Silmarien by her father the king. She was his eldest child and passed over for rulership as the kingship went to the eldest son by tradition. Her descendents were the Lords of Andunie - among the most powerful Dukes of Numenor. In this show Elendil just seems to be a random sea captain.

Narsil is presumably passed down the line of Beren to Elendil, something else the show decided to cut out along with his royal blood. It was originally given to Thingol and forged by Telchar, a legendary dwarf smith of the first age or even earlier. Beyond that super solid video.

How does the Balrog appear in the series if the events take place during the Second Age? The Balrog, later known as "Durin's Bane," first appeared in the depths of Khazad-dûm (Moria) during the Third Age, around the year 1980. The dwarves of Khazad-dûm were mining for mithril
Why would Galadriel jump off the cliff? Normally this would kill a person, including elves. So all Sauron would need to do is hop-skip-jump down the cliff and take the ring off her corpse.
Their obsession with that angle is simple once you remember this is fanfiction. Draco in Leather Pants. I have little doubt that at least one of the writers have written such a story.
These are HW types who sold their souls for opportunity and know it.Because these people have no morals they don't want anyone else to be shown with them. In this episode a pretend hobbit moaned at pretend Gandalf for killing a bad guy to save her and all the other hobbits when that was his choice. Let them all die or kill the bad guy. All HW productions are like that and all to justify their own lack of morals.
They had the budget? They had the technology? They clearly had access to skilled graphic designers? All they had to do was place the task of creating the show in the right hands? And they blew it spectacularly! It has to go down as the biggest wasted opportunity in entertainment history?
They started this at the height of US 'protests' so swarmed to please who they thought was a majority with their virtue signalling identity politics. But using a beloved English IP to do it insulting the world in the process, a world that doesn't give two shits about US politics. The showrunners had 10 years in HW with one writing credit between them and that's who they chose. Because they'd bow to whatever was demanded of them. To be fair, there was only one small space in time when film makers actually cared for their source material. This was when LOTR and the Harry Potter movies were released. The only real difference is that nowadays, movies are loaded with political bullshit of the kind that would make even north korean watchers cringe.
@@ianpatterson6552 I think it's going to be worse than that. I think Sauron is going to pose as Celeborn, and his love-child with Galadriel is going to be ... Arwen. Then Galadriel is going to want to kill the child, but Elrond is going to stop her because "no child is born evil" blah blah blah and offers to raise her as his own. And then we're going to see fluff pieces from the usual suspects attempting to gaslight us into thinking this is a good change because it recontextualizes Arwen's relationship with the One Ring in the Peter Jackson films. We all hang shit on ours from both sides and no one gets worked up enough to have a go at those who do. It's just banter and it really won't change the status quo. Especially in the US where regulation is a dirty word so only the people suffer from its lack whilst business and $$ run the country. Politicians serve them not you.
"The one currently buried under rubble" Er, I'm pretty sure they blatantly showed King Durin take off the ring and give it to Durin IV. They even show the complete set of rings after the fact.
Hey bro, I like your message, but one macro critique is the still image vs short clip. Nerdrotic does really well because his commentary timeline fits really really well with the clips he stitches together. The timing of his words corresponds with a clip rather than still image. Just one note on that. keep up the good work!
I disagree Adar's refusal of the rings doesn't add anything to the story; it shows that he truly was a good, redeemed elf, selfless and his ambition was pure; he wanted only to make a new path for the orcs to leave in peace, he truly loved them, and was their only hope of a future towards redemption. By Adar then tragically being killed by the orcs under Sauron, the orcs lost their only hope of ever being able to be set free of the dark path of destruction, and through Sauron, are now doomed as he is.
That may be the case… they just didn’t explain it all and execution of it was just plain confusing. They(the showrunners) decide Adar is all of a sudden a “good” elf back in his original form and they try to tease us, cuz that’s all they know how to do, about who Adar might be. Just to then immediately kill him. It’s just bad writing when they just keep pushing and delaying explanations for events and characters as long as possible. It took them literally to the end of 2 seasons to tell us that “not Gandalf” is Gandalf, just to now introduce us to another mystery wizard who for my money is gonna predict is Sarumon. It’s just lazy storytelling… for a billion dollars.
Did Adar, after getting the ring, heal Arondir, who he himself stabbed, because the ring uncorrupted him? Why did the orcs kill Adar, did Sauron suddenly take control of them?Or they saw Adar is more of a elf than a orc so they don't like him anymore? How did Galadriel not die from that fall? Honestly, i think it's better to not ask anything from or about this show and just forget about it, nothing makes sense so there is not reason to think about it, be glad it's over, for now at least.
I think you're right that Amazon will greenlight the 3rd season due to sunk cost... But if they were smart, they'd get new showrunners, and have them hire better writers or something.

I think the reason Hollywood is so enamored with sympathetic villains is that deep down somewhere in the blackest of pits they call themselves they know they are the villains.
yes, but it's not deep down. they know exactly what they are, what they do, and why.
@@coffeyjjjIMO they know who they are, and they like it. They know perfectly well what they do and why with the audience's minds and with the best parts of popculture we had. iirc, Balrogs are MAIAR, meaning they have similar power to Melian... they can't be stopped by a cave-in... BRO
They have to bury it so that it can presumably wake up at its correct time! I.e. the 3rd Age! But at this point, I don't understand why the show runners even bother! They should just let the Balrog run loose so that they can make up even more shite as they go!
And in this show we have an elf surviving unreal stuff too
REMINDER... in the 4th age Aragorn WIPES OUT every single orc in the all the lands.
Wow, it looks like my reply was considered 'unacceptable', as I can't see it any more.. figures!
@@victorcates9330 But you can't argue these things. The orcs are irredeemable save by the Grace of Eru Iluvatar. That included orphaned Orc babies. That is established by Tolkien. They just are pure evil, because they were warped by Morgoth. It is what it is.
I’m guessing the penguin has experienced show runners and a competent writers room.
The show runners to this show only had one writing credit years ago before Amazon hired them.
That show is hbo isn’t it? An it’s been around a lot longer than most of the tv companies today
it's not just about experience, imo. keep in mind the directors of Game of Thrones also didn't come in with any experience (and judging by the last season, didn't leave with any either 🤣)
it's also about the theme of the show.

Al Pharazon and Elendil were not even born when Eregion was sacked they were born about 1500 years later. Celeborn was with Galadriel in Eregion they left for Lothlorien before Sauron attacked. Fun thing about Galadriels jump.. correct me if i am wrong, i base it on my understanding of the show, but..
- Ring cured Adar, when he wore it, so implication is, ring has healing factor when its worn
- Galadriel wears the ring, and takes it off before the jump, for no reason, basically just as a f you gesture to Sauron:
A) She takes off the ring that might heal her from the fall
B) She risks death in territory full of enemies(Orcs), basically risking giving the ring to Sauron anyway.

How does the Balrog appear in the series if the events take place during the Second Age?
The Balrog, later known as "Durin's Bane," first appeared in the depths of Khazad-dûm (Moria) during the Third Age, around the year 1980. The dwarves of Khazad-dûm were mining for mithril
a drinking game for RoP would be deadly. "that makes no sense" alone is probably enough
Why would Galadriel jump off the cliff? Normally this would kill a person, including elves. So all Sauron would need to do is hop-skip-jump down the cliff and take the ring off her corpse.
Their obsession with that angle is simple once you remember this is fanfiction.

Leave modern politics out of this. Tolkien would have agreed as he hated allegory to his work.

You are assuming she has begat Celebrian by this point. 3rd season to have Sauron pose as Celeborn and one maiar/elven bundle of joy later.

6:25 not gonna lie, that shot make me think: is that Asmongold who play Gandalf !?
AH, what's a little stabbing and falling off a cliff that would kill damn near anything, when you can take a volcanic eruption that sets everything around on fire, destroys buildings and would make the air completely unbreathable.
this show doesn't have plot holes, this thing is a plot hole.
If only Feanor knew rocks could stop Balrogs 😂
RIP Adar, you were too good for this show, namárië nildonya.
Donald Drumpft!!
I found JSG when when rings of power was announced. I was hype. And this man kept me from DARKNESS
I've been looking forward to this from you. But now I'm just full of rage.
