Had the FICM on my 2006 repaired back in 2013. It is now late 2024 and the FICM has over 100,000mi. on it. The truck has right at 300,000. Ed took the time to talk to me and educate me on some things about the 6.0l. The lesson that day was keep strong batteries in the truck. Anyway, great people there.
awesome video! i ordered the stone block from y'all. had a few question so i gave y'all a call and everyone there was glad to help out. not to many companies out there like that. keep up the good work.
Very informative good video. 100% agree. If your going in there do it right. Kill Devil O ringed heads is the way to go. The guys who did my truck, after they torqued it they ran the truck a few times to heat cycle and then re torqued everything.
Do you recommend fel-pro gaskets when using kdd heads. I’ve read they are not safe to use. These aren’t aluminum heads so it seems fel-pro would be the obvious choice. Hope you can help me out. Thanks
I have been a pro auto tech 20+ years i specialize in engine work. A bunch of my friends have had 6.0 diesels for years and I never worked on them but heard about all the issues from them. Well i bought one at the auction one day cheap and when I was cleaning the turbo i noticed it only had 4 head bolts per cylinder and I said to my buddies you gotta o-ring the heads studs arent enough. I mean its a diesel then u add 30+ psi boost thats alot of cylinder pressure its hard to believe they didnt have 6 bolts per cylinder. This is a great idea to have a thicker head. I own a auto repair shop I do alot of vw diesel engine work cummins engine work but my shop is too small for pulling cabs. I have a customer that spent 10k on head job for a 6.0 and it only lasted a few years and not abused no tuner it was driven as a personal vehicle and to tow products for his farm nothing crazy.

Sounds like the guys who took care of you did an awesome job!
Hot re-torques are the key.

We love the fel-pro headgaskets for non-oringed heads. For oringed heads, we recommend the Mahle headgaskets.
I've got the Killdevil diesels coming so I think I'll go with mahle.
