you should make the engine swap video just cause, i can speak for all of us when we say we enjoy your videos man! still nervous but you gave me the confidence to tackle this
I appreciate your video for the lack of loud, obnoxious music and/or antics as well as your calm, serious demeanor. I will say that the use of the stone scares the bageezus out of me 😂
I've been doing the block prep in a very similar way as you do. I use a lapping plate from Ed at Ficm Repair, to keep my stone true. I too haven't had comebacks on 6.0 head gaskets. I like to get the glow plug harnesses installed before torque dowm. Especially if doing a 18 to 20mm conversion/upgrading to newer style hpop.
@@Atomic_Diesel Hey bro quick question so Im doing ARP studs on my 04 6.0 and im a little confused on the push rods, do I need to install 6.4 push rods or go back with the same 6.0 push rods?? And if they need to be 6.4 from what year??
Doing mine now...I noticed that the sealing surface of the gasket allows coolant to contact the surface of the head and the block. Probably contributing the it's failure. I have a decent amount of pitting where this occurs but none to little where the sealant lies on the gasket. Would it be beneficial to prior to install using a copper spray or something like hylomar prior to the final honing to seal the metal? It seems like a designed to fail kinda gasket where the top and bottom layers allow the coolant to contact the component surfaces rather than match the opening of the passages
Awesome videos! Are you still planning to a reassembly video? My heads are at the machine shop currently and I would love to be able to reference your videos to get everything back together.
@atomic diesel Thanks for doing your videos. I just started watching them because I'm taking two of my 6.0s apart, and my 550 is leaking a heavy amount of oil after it runs and I don't know if that was the oil cooler or the heads. I got both. I'm replacing the oil cooler right now but the motors in the truck so I'd rather not do the head gaskets if I don't have to. I also got a black diamond. Malle head gasket set. I'm wondering if it's leaking from that high pressure oil pump area where you put that gray silicone because my dad bought this new in '07 and I doubt they did that stock? Another question is can't I just reuse my 6.0 pushrods if I do pull the heads? You mentioned 6.4 rods?
and.....this is why every time someone complains that they just put new headgaskets in and they are blown again......i always wonder i bet the deck was not flattened...i do the grinding stone also.. its probably in some cases better than factory
Your channel is one of the best I’ve watched, thank you so much for going over the details 👍😁
Not a problem! Thank you very much for watching!

Well thank you! You’ve got it! And if you have any questions shoot me a message!
Because of you...I got confident and I will overhaul my E350 Van 6.0 engine after I paid 16.500 CAD to a guy and he F...Up...
Thank you sir.

I did the same except being a collision repair guy. I used a quality long board and gives a good selection of paper you can use. Down to 220 grit

I would be happy to make one! I’m currently waiting on a bunch of powder coated parts for it and then I’ll jump back on making a video on re assembly!
@Atomic_Diesel do you have a link for the stone?
What grit stone do you have?

Thank you for watching! And yes definitely don’t reuse the pushrods, once you mill the heads the stock ones are too long.
@@Atomic_Diesel I see what you mean
Question though.. What's your thoughts on oring head heat cycle re torque?
Really no need with just o rings, fire rings I would definitely hot re torque.
Would you still use that stone on a deck block to get rid of the witness marks?
Yes!
very helpful video
Where did you buy that stone ?
Kitchen / Chef supply store local to me.
