- Max & C-Bomb welcome Christian Olde Wolbers to New Breed TV in this episode of The Mailbag. We hang out in the Fear Factoreum, open some tasty FF gems we've been collecting and chat about all things Fear Factory.
I would love to see Burton , Christian and Ray back together again!! I loved Archetype and Transgression!!!
Awesome to see Christian talk about Fear Factory. His stage energy back in the Obsolete days was unmatched, very important to the success of the band back then.
Hung out with him and Steph backstage at the house of blues in Vegas on the 99 Obsolete tour. One of the greatest bucket list moments of my life.
That's awesome that he was willing to come on and do this! Wow. Sure do miss the OG lineup.
Absolutely man, he only had a short window to come over and catch up before he had to play the show that night and we were so greatful he squeezed in a visit to the Factoreum and was able to sit down and hang out for a bit.

I met Christian at Billy Hyde music instore in Camperdown, Sydney 2006 on transgression tour
I saw FF in early 94, before Demanufacture came out. They were touring with Clutch and Machine Head. Then, several months later, saw them in late 94. At that show, Demanufacture hadn't come out yet, but they played several songs off of it at the show. I remember thinking, "I don't want to hear new music that I don't know," but the songs were so solid that they stuck in my head for months. A few months later, I saw Dino at an indie record store where he was promoting the album which still wasn't out yet. I asked if I could get an advanced copy and without hesitating, he gave me one, signed it, gave me a big hug and thanked me for supporting the band. Great memories.
Discovered Fear Factory, Front Line Assembly, KMFDM, Godflesh, & Miranda Sex Garden from that Hideaway cassette when it came out. What a slam dunk that soundtrack was.

Test Drive 5 was actually my first exposure to Fear Factory.

I met Christian and Burton in 97 in Atlanta. I remember Christian had a Nebraska Cornhusker Jersey on. I gave him a little grief for it cause I'm a miami hurricane fan. They played at the Mascurade ball room opening for Type O Negative.
Holy fucking shit, you're in super deep with this collection - video games and VHS cassettes! It wouldn't be the Fear Factoreum without this level of dedication and curation. LOVE IT! You're going to need to move house again, Max.
I have Digital Connectivity on VHS from when I was a kid.
Definitely found FF thanks to Mortal Kombat. That's definitely a theme for those of us who grew up in the 90s.
Those Dog Day Sunrise lyrics always confused the shit out of me. My Japanese version of Demanufacture was previously unopened until today. I was amazed when I found the little black and white insert containing the lyrics, not to mention the purple disc in the jewelcase! After that little discovery, my FF collection has the Demanufacture disc in black, blue and now purple.
Awesome episode, gents! I like that the majority of mailbag items you were opening related to C.O.W's time in the band. He was awesome to hang out with at The Indian Ocean Hotel for their Archetype listening party back in 2004. Very accommodating and more than happy to do photos, sign merch, etc.

This is great. If there isn't a part two it would be good to hear an interview with him and check in on how the tour went, his experiences in Australia and also find out what he's been working on, like Powerflo, Arkaea, or other music, and if Raymond is drumming on any of his projects.
Raymond is retired from music entirely, unfortunately.

I remember Christian s Story on Running into Bobby Hanbel in California and He was offered a Gig in a Band Called " Fear Factory" Christian didn't have his bass with him, and he was given a.Bass with " Biohazard" on the Side. That is how The Mighty Christian Olde Wolbers started in Fear Factory. He is Mad cool.🤘🤘
I loved the Archetype era of the band. I felt like Burton, Christian, Raymond and Byron had peak sound in that era. Lots more stage energy too.
Congrats for that new video ! Awesome stuff and that was nice to see Christian share your passion for FF. I had goosebumps seeing the promo CD with Cyberwaste on it (from an french magazine, and I still have it too) but also seeing the Carmageddon game. Playing it is how I started listening FF. Cheers !!!

@@revivedfears yeah if you freeze frame in a couple spots but i was mostly on the platform behind the mosh pit watching. Youll see how the crowd is small in some shots and larger in others. Thats because they only let 20 people in at a time to do a take then added another 20 etc until the place was full. I was in that first 20 so im bummed they never used any of that footage

Did he talk at all about the status of arkaea? I loved that album years in the darkness the band seems to have ceased
Arkaea died on impact. COW and the singer from Arkaea are working on a new band now.

Great interview. As always - the background music needs to be dropped completely, or lowered in volume. Its distracting
Rainbow Six Lockdown soundtrack CD has bonus DVD with some bonus shit with Herrera and Dolby 5.1 version of Rainbow Six Lockdown song. I have some really strange soundtracks and I wonder do you have these too: Mischief Invasion and Mischief Dynasty Volume V ? Raymond Herrera is a producer on these babies, Christian was also part of it, sort of exclusive songs on Mischief Invasion.
Yeah we do have the mischief incasion soundtrack mate. All the bonus video stuff on the rainbow six soundtrack is awesome!
@@newbreedtv3833 yeah. The Mischief Dynasty Vol. 5 is a strange beast for sure. There is also Ascension of the Watchers song included. Lots of edits by Herrera and some featuring credits by Christian. PS. I just saw FF last week in Tampere, new singer just nailed it. Some of the electronics and synths were blurred to the background but otherwise top notch gig!!

Now that Dino found someone who sounds like Burton and can still hit those high notes (and doesn't require a big salary), I personally think the chances of that are pretty much 0.

I'm kind of mixed on Christian because I appreciate him for the years he dedicated to Fear Factory but then he admitted to trying to get dropped from roadrunner and they gave them a below par album ' archetype'... An unfortunate part of their history.
Guys, I'm looking forward to a video where you talk about the new vocalist Milo and talk about the new era of fear factory.
lol, Archetype isn't below par. It's a favorite album among many fans. Certainly better than Digimortal. The band 'broke up' and RR forced them back due to contract, then sold the contract. RR liked what they were making with Archetype, except the lyrical content about contracts and the music industry. Transgression, now that was a sub par album. Their new label was forcing them to push out a record and Burton didn't want to sing on the heaviest songs they were writing that didn't make it to the album. Production wasn't great either. You sure that isn't the album + label issues you're talking about?
