    The truck is in really good shape, at that price it's a steal. It needs the interior re-done. I'm a car buff and knowledgeable, have bought cars in Mexico and the US. These vehicles don' t loose their value. Old school cars are always better, very repairable, reliable and economical. I also prefer this kind of vehicle . . of course you need to provide good maintenance. I see it's an old video but very useful especially for aspiring Mexicans, Greetings.

    Can I buy a car in Yucatan and then register it in another state? I'm moving from Yucatan to Quintana Roo in two weeks and don't have a semi-permanent location at the moment... My address on my temporary resident visa is not the address I am at and won't be going back there... I assume, I need to change my address on my Temporary Resident Visa address first? Would that be the first step in order to register a car when I buy one?

    • @JoseArteagaTravels

      Yes you can register it in any state, but it will be registered under the address you have in immigration. If it is not current you must change that first. Once address is changed you can proceed with changing the registration to your name.

    I suppose it's a given that it's a 4×4 & that the AC was working or that you didn't have to spend alot to get it working.
    I think the first year for "computers " was 1986 & you ought to source a place that you can purchase a spare just in case.
    See if you can get an owner's manual on line or Ebay for component specs, service & wiring diagrams info. The On Board Diagnostics or OBD 1 ended in 1995 & every manufacturer had a proprietary connector for the scanning tool.
    Nice thing is that you can get to know your specific vehicle & learn to diagnose common problems that may arise.
    Nice find!

      Actually no computers on this bad boy! It has A/C but i gotta fix it along with a bunch of other things. But I got myself the manual, tools, and friends with beers to help me put this beast back together again. As for the used car parts they are very easy to find out here and worse case scenario i can get a part made out here or have it delivered to me. That was another reason i got this truck. Easy to work on, maintain and get parts for!

      Indeed! I'm pretty sure you have a 318 cubic inch displacement motor. They originated in two factories , one in Windsor & Detroit.
      The Windsor block is the desired one of the two & I'm guessing it was painted red & the Detroit block blue , but you'd have to check to be sure.
      These engines just couldn't be blown up! They lasted & lasted so of course they discontinued them in fairly short time ! Hence the demand for them went up afterwards.

    Dude I have one more question for you. Can you speak on how it is to get any vehicle fixed or maintained over there. Do you have to worry about getting the gringo price? Is it difficult to get a foreign plated car worked on? I'll be moving to Mexico next month and we are driving and this is what I'm worried about if I need to get my car fixed for some reason.

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  Рік тому +1

      Great question! Ok so there are Mechanics all over the place, some work in fancy dealerships others work from their front yard. I never really trusted most mechanics back home and the same goes for out here. It took me such a long time to find a decent mechanic and even then I still prefer to try and fix it myself before taking it to the mechanic, to me its a last resort. It also helps when you know what is wrong and can speak "car" with the mechanic to avoid them treating you like you dont know anything. As for the Gringo price I think for mechanics they treat everyone the same. I know plenty of Mexicans who constantly get hosed by Mexican mechanics. Thats another reason I bought this truck, so i very rarely have to rely on a mechanic to get me up and running again. As for a foreign plated car, they dont care. They dont care about paperwork lol they just want to fix you up and charge you like any other business paperwork is your responsibility not theirs lol. If you are driving your car down here just make sure you at the very least know basic mechanics as to avoid getting shafted by some random mechanic over something minor. Also learn Spanish which will also help you out in case of an emergency. Long story short you should be fine as long as you can also work on the car yourself. Finding a mechanic is super easy, finding a good one is very difficult same as back home. Hope all that info helps! Also look up the "Green Angels" they are the road safety emergency people. If you are on a highway and need road assistance dial *445 and they will come to the rescue! Good luck with your journey!

    Hey Jose ... from that other great place to live = Brasil !
    Good to finally SEE your vehicle that we've only seen the hood of ! Is a 318 V8 ?
    Our DMV is called DETRAN and yes you can hire a company to transfer it, called a DESPACHANTE.
    Have bought a bunch of cars here in the last 20 years
    I see that website to check to see the status of the tag/car. Are there any phone apps that do the same ?
    Here there are phone apps like PLACAFIPE to check cars out, gives you the status of the car and the book value (FIPE), must be a dozen of them. When registering a car here the part of the tax you pay includes medical coverage.
    Have been looking at Portugal for years but decided it's not for me for a lot of reasons ; water is too cold, hard to find temp rentals and it's 3X more expensive than Brasil. I get the same old colonial Portuguese/Azorian architecture here mostly in the south. Is really like being IN Portugal
    Headed back to Florida in 2023 and plan a month visit in Mexico. Liking the beach a lot, lean towards the Yucatan coast. HATE COLD OCEAN WATER !

    I'd like to purchase the new 2024 Toyota Hilux Champ 2.4L Diesel with a manual transmission and 4wd. They sell them in Mexico but not America or Canada. I'm ok with purchasing a used one because I've heard that it needs to have 7,000 miles on it before it can come into America. Not sure if that's true or not. The base price is $10,000 for one. How do I go about doing this?

    So beside about the car now here. Mabe you could explain all the differences about the status of having a Temp or a Permanente status visa. Like you can not drive a Mexican plated car with not having a Mexican DL. And if you have your Permanente status visa you can't drive a foreign car in Mexico and not even with a ok US DL so maybe you can buy a Mexican car with your temp residency status but you can't frive it if it has that Mexican plate. Many people are not really informed about it so could you do a video explaining everything. Cracias.

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  Рік тому

      Not sure where you heard that but you can driver any car with any tag and any license. If it is foreign plated car you need a TIP but long story short they are pretty easy going out here when it comes to enforcement

      @@JoseArteagaTravels I think I saw it on some other you tube expat videos. That if you just have that temp status and no Mexican DL that you can't drive a Mexican plated car. Ok, as you know so many infos out there and many have their own story. On another note, sounds like you did find yourself a sweetheart and she was lucky to find and have you. You are so full of spirit and you Love Mexico, you could be a promoter of Mexico. Mexico is great if you also feel great but if you don't ok nothing is great. @@JoseArteagaTravels Ok, so what I meant is that having a permanente residency status in Mexico you can't drive a US plated car in Mexico. Ok, maybe a rental car but not your own if you would have one from the US as many do as you know when they are Temp status residency.
