Cool little fact: berserker reffers to those who wore bear pelts, but if a berserker wore a wolf pelt they were called Ulfheðnar and were considered Odins special warriors and King Harald Fairhair had an elite guard made up specifically by Ulfheðnar.
Perrserker has a strong design, but the thing that really won me over is its attitude. Berserk or not, this steel cat is *always smiling* no matter what. That's a personality I both respect and adore.
I agree. I wouldn’t mind if Gamefreak “reused” Pokémon and gave them completely different evolutions. It just makes more sense for regional variants to have different evolutions rather than a regional variant of its original evolution, or at least give them a different name (ie: Alolan Sandslash)
The second I saw Galarian Meowth I knew it was going to be a mainstay on my team, I loved this little guy(or gal in my case). The moment it evolved I fully expected it to be a variant of Persain, maybe some sabertooth version or something, so imagine my shock and awe at the reveal it's evo basically just gave it a helmet and nothing else. My guess for this new region would be a central/south America and/or conquistador themed Meowth to reference Spain's conquests in the New World.
@@greatkai2820 Yeah, they had regular Meowth, but every game with a regional variant lets you get the original except Legends: Arceus. Well, there is a tale in which Loki convinces Odin that Freija will sleep with anyone who returns her magic gold making necklace to her, he does this by mentioning that she gifted something to the dwarves who found it last time and then heavily implies the gift to be of her own body, which then leads to a heist where Loki invades her abode by transforming into a flea on one of her cats and then steals the necklace to give to Odin. Long story short, Odin tells her that he wants what the dwarves got, she asks him if he's sure, he insists, and she gives him a drop of her blood. 8:17 Aside from the helmet horns (a limitation of using an unedited dwarf sprite), Berserker Axinhead from 8-Bit Theater was surprisingly historically accurate for a character living in a fantasy world lol. When he was calm he was super polite and formal but when berserk, he would swear up a storm that would make sailors seem like boyscouts.
During the viking age, vikings would consume something at the time refered to as the berserker mushroom (Amanita Muscaria) which is abundantly found in sweden and norway, not the whole mushroom because it is obviously poisonous (took a few people to figure that out, i guess) but in small doses. It's actually been discussed a bit if they actually drank urine, as in the urine of an animal who ate the mushrooms and could safely digest them, basically using an animal as a sort of filter to make the toxins mild enough to not kill them. :P
I like that Game Freak has been using Meowth to show how house cats have changed where ever people have brought them. Interested to see if they do one for Paldea, isn't the Spanish Wildcat in the running for being an origin for the modern house cat? At least around the Mediterranean.

Great video! Love the content. Also, as for 4:36 , the reason Columbus is so popular is one, bc he “discovered” America for Europe, and 2. The reason we have Columbus Day is actually because there was a time in American history in which Italian Americans were prosecuted for being Italian. In fact, there was an incident in which some Italian Americans were labeled “mafia” and lynched. Sorry I just went on a tangent lol I just feel like many don’t know the truth abt Columbus day lol. Again, keep up the great Content!!
If they make a Scandinavia region, they need to make a regional variant of Perrserker as a more complete berserker, or have a 3rd evolution that is based on either Tyr, Thor, or Odin, the gods that berserkers most often prayed to before going into battle as Thor is the god of strength and in some texts the patron of berserkers, Odin was the patron of Ulfhedinn (Wolf Berserkers), and Tyr is generally agreed upon to be the "God of War" in a family of Gods and Goddesses of a War Domain (Aesir are generally the War Gods, Vanir are generally the Fertility gods)
Something I’ve noticed is that Garchomp looks a lot like a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk plane from WWII. A video maybe looking deeper into that potential origin could be neat
I really really love this whole situation and Pokemon design! Probably the #1 to come out of Galar!! I hope we see it again in the new one. Great great coverage and a wonderful video to share with my SO :)
Also I just wanna say perrserker may he based off the cat sith, a fey cat that has an odd pattern on its chest. This is the origin of the old wives tale that black cats are unlucky
Question: could new regional evolutions like Perrserker and Obstagoon possibly get regional forms in a different region or are they just limited to Galar?
Perrserker is definitely my favorite of the Meowth evolutions, and I believe it’s actually stronger than them given it’s Attack stat and defenses. Also, I love how you mentioned that the Vikings/Norse people “found” America long before Columbus did! America should celebrate Lief Erickson way more than Columbus, especially considering what Columbus did to the Indigenous people. Of course, I say this partly because a few years ago, I discovered that I had Scandinavian ancestry.
I always figured Perrserker had viking origins, but I don't know why I didn't see the Norwegian Forest Cat inspiration too. I had a cat who was half Norwegian...she was a little viking herself as a younger girl.
A solid video! You made me actually like perrserker! I knew the main reason why it looks they way it looks, but these little facts that could be also reasons for the design make it so much more interesting and it makes sense! As a finnish person, norse mythology is very dear to me. Even though it wasn't directly part of our culture, it did play part in Finland's history as well. There were finnish vikings. There were "witches" who sold wind to sailors. Some vikings didn't want to take finns with them because they feared that they would cause storms. How factual this is, i'm not sure. A lot of our history has been forgotten and disappeared.
It really goes to show how much thought they put into the origins and concepts of many Pokemon. Even if the designs don't always hit the mark with some people.

I hope in a future generation they make a regional form/evolution based on the fishing cat.
I like Perrserker´s animation in pokemon camp when he moves/dances. It really looks like a pirate/viking dance.
Yeah, I admittedly fell in love with Perrzerker’s design when I first saw one. It’s both cool and adorable
Something I’ve noticed is that Garchomp looks a lot like a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk plane from WWII. A video maybe looking deeper into that potential origin could be neat
definitely gonna keep the names "Bygul" and "Trjegul" in mind if I ever get another cat/cats
I really really love this whole situation and Pokemon design! Probably the #1 to come out of Galar!! I hope we see it again in the new one. Great great coverage and a wonderful video to share with my SO :)
Love the Ultra Balls on Freya 🤣
Also I just wanna say perrserker may he based off the cat sith, a fey cat that has an odd pattern on its chest. This is the origin of the old wives tale that black cats are unlucky
Question: could new regional evolutions like Perrserker and Obstagoon possibly get regional forms in a different region or are they just limited to Galar?
I call Purrserker "Homeless Cat," and I love him
Perrserker is definitely my favorite of the Meowth evolutions, and I believe it’s actually stronger than them given it’s Attack stat and defenses.
Building on the demonic horn thing with meowth, perserker also has two tiny horns around its coin symbolizing demonic horns as well
"Maybe... Four dead vikings for every knight!"
Quick, somebody alert Skallagrim, Metatron, Lindybeige and Shad, them's fighting words!
A lot of our history has been forgotten and disappeared.
lol, most Americans don't care about Columbus anymore, dude.
Exactly, he was just a dude, a product of his time
Ain't a Lockstin video if he doesn't casually diss something.
It really goes to show how much thought they put into the origins and concepts of many Pokemon.
Even if the designs don't always hit the mark with some people.
I also love this Line, I used one on my team in my first run of Shield, he had an adamant nature with Tough Claws
This cat is my favorite cat Pokemon, and might just be my most used steel type
I went through the whole game with my Perrserker and pumpkaboo, I loved ever combat with them
