Actually that’s also a myth as well. The reason why the vibrations from worm grunting works is because it’s similar to the vibrations made by moles digging through the earth
Another spy gadget at Inteleon's disposal is in its tail, specifically the sharp frill that comes out of the dark blue line, which is a reference to switchblades. That same frill becomes huge and spirals all around the tail in its Gmax form, making any attempts to climb the tower a not very... Sharp idea.

After reading the first book in the Tarzan series I was amazed to read about how the Dum Dum (some sort of rituals the apes did) seemed to be like drumming on logs. Which makes it even more amazing to be that Disney got Phil Collins (a world famous drummer) to do the soundtrack to Tarzan and then Pokémon has a gorilla that plays the drums that could be based on the Cadbury Gorilla who played a Phil Collins song in the advert. It could all be coincidental but it still fascinates me that things can be that way.

I can attest to the "do plants grow faster with music"-thingy, as I tested it in an highschool project of mine. I put watercress in three same-sized cardboard boxes along with some cheap, same-brand mp3-players. One box had the mp3-players play classical music like Vivaldi, one box had heavy/death metal (example: Blitzkrieg from Kill 'Em All), and one box had no music playing as a reference. I made sure only the music was different in all boxes (same number of seeds, same substrate, same environment, same equipment, same lights, etc.) Results were quite cool. Don't know the exact numbers anymore, but the seeds exposed to classical music grew around 30% longer than those without music. Meanwhile the seeds exposed to heavy/death metal either grew very poorly or had died. Didn't test for significancy or anything (I wasn't that old and wise yet), but by just eyeing there was a very obvious difference between the three boxes. It is an easily replicable experiment without too many costs, so I would suggest anyone to try it themselves.

6:46 as a professional plant nerd. The best I can offer to that claim is, people who are more likely to play music to plants, probably also know and care about plants more. So, while you can find plant growers who do play music, that music part might just be an unnecessary step. Causality doesn't mean causation. Also, after intensive ways to not make google confused and show me the thing I'm not looking for. According to Michigan State University, wind helps a seedling grow a stronger stem. (I think also just general movement of plants might stimulate vegetative growth. But google, doesn't like cooperating with searches for that) So, maybe the sound waves can move the plants enough to stimulate that response??? Which of I remember correctly, louder music genres did in some tests yield better results. But take that with a pile of salt and look it up yourself before spreading this without fact check.
I like to think that all these references that you talk about in your videos are pure coincidences and that the guys at game freak that created these mons when they hear about these are like "Yeah haha we totally thought of that haha ha... am I right guys?".

We eventually had to deal w/ BellyJet Azu, even though everyone used to say the reason they didn't allow Azu to learn both Belly Drum & Aqua Jet at the same time was "b/c it'd be too broken," lol. And then Grassy Glide's BP was nerfed. Signs point to BellyGlide Rilla in the somewhat far future.

I love grookey, especially as a Phil Collins fan when he sang tarzan songs. I had a few nicknames for grooky from tarzan I had in mine when playing pokemon sword and sheild lol 😅
And Phil Collins put music yo the Cadbury gorilla ad
I just realized something mind-blowing. Rillaboom DOESN'T learn belly drum. I never really used one until recently so I always assumed it did. Kind of a wasted opportunity, huh?
I mean it was already a broken Pokemon in competitive, Belly Drum would be insane
do you want to give Leon another OP pokemon?
in the anime, He flattened the majority of both Alain and Diantha with ONLY Rillaboom.
@@TheHammerGuy94 Yes, absolutely. Monkes everywhere would be so proud. 😊
@@emerfirek Give me my Belly Glide Rilla supported by Triage Comfey. I dare you.
Rillaboom:
orgins of Druid culture
Plant growth and plant powers
Tarzan.
are you sure this isn't Zarude?
Unfortunately most people forget Zarude exists.
Excuse me, I think you forgot the coolest part of Huitzlopochtli, in that he singlehandedly keeps the earth from waking up and eating space and time itself from its hundreds of stony alligator mouths.
Cinderace: *turns to dialga and palkia* You owe me.
The Sobble line is my favorite Pokémon, and I think that in addition to being inspired by growing up shy and secret agents and snipers that line is also inspired by changelings. Specifically, the kind of changelings that were made to explain autistic people, like me. A person that is slightly off maybe considered fay touched. This at least makes sense to me.
I highly doubt that
@@DarthLiam-gd1wc at the start of sword and shield hype you told me that sobble was going to turn into a sniper I would have serious doubt.
@@nettlesandsnakes9138 90% of pokemon do that, if you think the galar starters specifically do it, you'd be wrong. Just look at dratini, clamperl, remoraid, and various others
10:17 hilarious - it looks like the arrangement of these statues is a hand flipping us off. 😂
"I like shorts! They're comfy and easy to wear!" Classic Youngster. Happy to have caught that reference.
His name is Ben, BTW.
The wise tree men part is kinda true for orangutans! In Indonesian Orangutan(Orang+Hutan) just means jungle person
"Orang" being person and "Hutan" being Jungle/Forest
This video just made me appreciate Inteleon even more than I already do. I had no idea about his dark membrane shades!
Interestingly another part of the Celtic ruling class were bards
Anyone else think Bongorilla would've been a great name for Rillaboom or is it just me?
I can't think of much else to comment about other than ask for more deep dives into Pokémon designs. They're just so well done and have inspired me to go deep myself with my own fakemon ideas
Here's another potential connection to British pop culture I noticed pertaining to Scorbunny. Considering its a rabbit with predominantly white fur that runs around very fast, maybe it also pulls some slight inspiration from the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland?
Also, Rillaboom being a gorilla that plays a drum could be a reference to Donkey Kong. Which works especially well since not only is Donkey Kong also a fellow Nintendo character, but Rare, the video game studio that was the original developer of the Donkey Kong Country games, is based out of England!
Pokémon lore never stops being awesome.
Fun fact: not only was soccer invented in the UK, but the word “soccer” also originated from the UK
So anytime you hear a Brit tell an American that it’s called “football” and not “soccer” remind them that _we_ are using the original, correct term
Hot take: I prefer the gen 8 starters to the gen 9 starters
Come on. Meowscarada is not that bad.
@@JamesDavy2009 meowscarada is the best out of the 3 it's the other 2 that brings the entire trio down for me
Gigantamax Cinderace is what Arabia Fats wishes his Stand was.
Some druid practices survived in the welsh church.
My grandad was a druid but its completly different to the original meaning i think it basically meant someone who did something for the local community
I did not have Gnoggin water boarding Pikachu on my bingo card this year 😂
We visited a mayan ruin once and they explained that the mayans would play their ball game and the winner would be the one sacrificed. It would be seen as a reward of being sent to the God's
It wasn't just the Mayans. The Aztecs had similar beliefs.
Just made me love the soble line even more
Cinderace seems so simple, but I love it so much! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
This doesnt happen alot but youve given me a greater appreciation for these guys
It is unfortunate that Rillaboom isn’t Grass/Normal (sound based moves are mostly normal type) or Grass/Rock (because ROCK and roll music)
If they gave them secondary types then Cinderace would have probably been fire fighting, although I could see a case for fire dark now but we had a fire dark starter the gen before, and for Inteleon im not sure but maybe water dark although we had a water dark starter 2 gens before, could see a case for water ghost or water flying
I could see fire ground for cinderace
@@Baltaczar I was hoping Fire/Electric for Scorbunny (like Energizer Bunny and generally being an energetic mon) and Water/Ghost for inteleon since it turns invisible and that would give it a more unique niche. I'm ok with Rilla staying as it is typewise but the drum should've been part of its chest
@@mr.sandman7339 I was thinking the same thing for Rilla, and besides, feels kinda lame that a starter was normal type (here is your special pokemon not found anywhere else, it is very normal), and those are some amazing arguments for the other starters, and fire/electric would break the trend of secondary types only being for the most part dark and fighting, and adding fairy psychic or ghost as seen fit to complete the trio
I died inside every time you spoke of punk and metal as though they're the same thing (all two times lol)
If you didn't name your Grookey after any British Invasion Drummer then I don't know what to tell ya.
Keith Moonkey is right there!
Or you're me who named mine Nicko (after Iron Maiden's drummer). UP THE IRONS!
I named mine Neil. Huge Rush fan.
Every time I see cinderace do the sliding on the knees pose, I just hear Renaldo saying “SSUUUUUUUUIIIII!!!”
6:00 didn't know they can do that but yet they make him carry a drum
2/5 design.
13:55 who gets in the bathtub fully clothed?
Strangest part of the bit for sure
better question: who gets into the bathtub naked on camera?
@@PurgatoryProductions1 The strangeness isn’t about wearing clothes in a bath or not on camera, but wearing normal street clothes in the tub. Bathing suits exist after all.
"Plant Bending"
i think you mean Leafbending.
At first I felt Lockstin was reposting some video because I could've sworn I heard a lot about what was discussed in this video in another one.
Regardless, always cool to see how in-depth these Starter origins are. Really makes creating authentic Fakemon that much more complicated.
Cinderace's giantamax form look a lot laharl from disgaea riding a meteor.
I am not kidding, look it up.
Same giant ball of fire, same pose while standing on top of the ball of fire and cinderace's long ears perfectly matches laharls two long pieces of hair.
Also in case your wondering if this a one time time thing for laharl, it is not.
Laharl has a move in game that summons a meteor for him to ride down to onto top of his enemies.
I wasn't aware that Cinderace had an Aztec mythos reference in it. The more you know, I guess.
Hasn't every region 's (since alola) starters been based on entertainment, alola as circus, galar as music, movies and sport and paldea as dance, jesters and singing?
2:14 No wonder Rillaboom is good against Intelleon
10:04 Some misinformation . British druids couldn’t write their beliefs because Britain didn’t have a native system of writing. Only runes.
1. Music Monkee
2. Soccer Rabbit
3. Austin Powers
0:30
being sacrificed was actually the reward for winning
5:41 the picture of Alfred the Gorilla on the right reminds me or a certain gorilla from a game I remember playing a long time ago… when Blizzard was at it’s peak
Just a small clarification, in the mesoamerican ball game, the loser's captain wasn't the one being sacrificed, it was the winner. Having your blood poured out to the gods was seen as a great honor!
I will forever pretend that cinderace's true origins is Studio C's legendary Scott Sterling. The man who bested Yale in both soccer and volleyball. SCOTLAND FOREVER
So Rillaboom is a Druid class? Well, crap... (scraps Rillaboom Barbarian character I made)
You can be a barb-druid... right?
@@emerfirek Of course, but I was expecting a more melee/marshal focused build for Rillaboom. Though, to be honest, Grass types being able to gain more from healing definitely pairs well with Druid... (This is based on some homebrew I am working on, FYI.)
The Sobble line can't learn Acid Armor fsr.
I just need to mention the little sprite art animations. They're really neat.
I think this would be nice for the regent there's a type of insect called a robber fly which you can buy it's enemies when it gets too close to a stick or a branch that is it on it can bite them with a special toxin making their guts turn to liquid and then the robber fly drinks it with their powerful jaws it would be nice seeing this as a Pokémon in a region and it would fit in nicely with the other Pokémon in the region
I'd love a robber fly pokémon, it's crazy how the developers have been sleeping on dipterans for all of 6 gens and then went back to it for 2 more.
Underrated trio hot take
Scrafty literally says "oh no my pants" NOW GO OPEN YOUR FREAKIN GALAR POKEDEX AND SEE IT
The Sobble line is literally me
I’ve always liked Drizzile, but I have a whole new appreciation for them now.
I love the gen 8 starters. I think they´re all really cool. And I like their gmax forms too. I chose Rillaboom as my starter but Inteleon and Cinderace are awesome too.
Fidough is the real starter pokemon!
20:03 its not a water gun, its a "hydro rifle"
Ad goes from 12:50 to 14:20 since he couldn't be bothered to put a chapter there, you're welcome.
So when is lockstin going to analyse every yokai from yokai watch
