I have had the K1 and JPro for a bit more than 2 years now and they are working fine. I highly recommend them. I love these two upgrades, the best I have had.
Does the backup camera come with the K1 of so what’s the Batman rear camera ad- on? Do the backup lines bend when you turn or stay straight? It’s not clear to me what the front camera mounts to and it pops up on the 9” screen? And your discount code doesn’t appear to work for the K1. Thanks
You didn't talk about integration with the original jeep system. Do the steering wheeling buttons still function, does the original mic work, does it it connect to the original GPS antennae, does the upgrade sound system with woofer and amp work etc. Would love all that input. Thanks
Holy crap I am so excited to end this year's mod cycle for the rig with this! Thanks AdventureDex for your review Im sure you were waiting to publish your review for a long time and as always it was fun and informative, keep up the awesome work!
I finally got one ordered on the page after their website was having issues. I have a Joying 10” sitting in my garage but I also have the Carobotor J-Pro in my garage waiting to go in as well. Their support had been terrible at responding so I hope it ships soon.

What happens if you install this and put quite a bit of mileage on it and do maintenance at dealership which are added to Carfax and it dies? You put old one back in and it has old mileage on it killing resale value…any idea on how to avoid this debacle?
What happens if you end up not likening this and you put your original cluster back in after driving on this for let’s say 3000 miles? Does your original cluster show the correct mileage?
Finally!! Nice vid Can you show how the music pops up on the Jpro as well as the navigation? I know without the K1 those features don't work on the Jpro
Nice video! I have been waiting to see this for a long time now. While I am impulsive with buying things and changing up parts often, I decided I am gonna stick with my Alpine i209-WRA Restyle. It's been out longer, much longer, I haven't had issues with it and it's built well. While I commend Carobotor for the K1, the JPRO could use some improvements like music and navigation before focusing on another product. At the end of the day, if you are happy then that is most important! Thanks for sharing this video and helping me ultimately make up my mind to keep my Alpine.
I see that your head unit came with that gray box where you connect everything now I see other reviews saying that it’s just a face it doesn’t have that box is that true or how does that work why is yours different?
I've got the Dasaita, but like most cheap Chinese junk, it has problems. It reboots occasionally. The heater being on in the winter causes crashes. It has become sluggish over time, and the touchscreen sometimes doesn't work. I understand the Secaine has similar problems. Is the Carobotor similar tech? Is it any better?
That is correct, he seicane isnt perfect by a long shot, but when i did this upgrade my choices were the $3000 alpine or the $500 seicane with a larger screen, fairly unbranded UI and additional features i was looking for. my thinking was... even if it craps out due to shipping from china or after a few months, i can always buy another and still be way under the alpine price... which is ridiculously too high.
@@omlettedufromage8588 That was my logic, too. Unfortunately, dealing with the headaches of it has become too much. I want a more permanent solution. It would be nice if one of these Chinese units didn't crap out so easily, and were built to a higher standard.
I run no top for half the year if they would Make spare tire mount I would definitely purchase and if they would ad SXM that would be huge we don't wheel where there are many radio channels
I went with the Seicane head unit on my 2012. large touch screen and its pretty much the same as you have here except the back of my unit has 2 amazing features... a USB port for iphone integration and a video "in" much like this does for your back-up camera, but i added a video channel switcher and now i can select between several different back up cams that i have placed all around the under belly for trail/obstacle watching.
Hi Dex, i love your videos, I just installed the JPro from Carobotor and love it. Would you go with the K1 or the CK 10 inch display unit you installed in another video? Thanks for your help…
Where can I get some actual hardware information on this unit? Does it support SiriusXM? What are the voltages on the RCA outputs? I'm assuming its standard Android so can I install something like CoPilot to have maps without internet access? Does it reuse the existing GPS antenna?
It’s definitely super cool! Haven’t had any issues and if don’t mind the price tag then hell yah go for it! Don’t forget there is a discount code! “AdventureDex”
Nice looking unit, but I'm not about hacking my dash, Car play not working and that little white square blinking on the screen. Especially after the previous one you had to return. Lastly I'd have to find a different place for the camera with the size of my spare and going topless. Thanks for the review.
I just got my dash, vents & k1. How does the light strip below the k1 come on?? Also after installing everything, now my dome lights and 12v plug doesn’t come on, suggestions???
So wait. It just clips in? One screw. Makes it pretty easy for a thief to get it out right? I love the look but my doors are off to much to spend the money on that unless it’s secured better. Great video as always dex glad to see you back dude.
Not many radios are being stolen nowadays. Pawn shops are not putting out the money like they used to for radios. But i feel you .no one wants their radio stolen or their dash busted up.
Hey Dex. I'm new to the Jeep world. Picked up a JK and am interested in the dash for sure. Thinking about the radio as well. Are the units still working good? How do they stand up to heat and humidity? I'm in Georgia and it gets pretty nasty during the 9 months of summer here. Thanks man.
Does this use the original mic or does it come with its own? Can you play video apps like UA-cam or Netflix while the vehicle is moving or does it lock them out?
If I understood correctly, the K1 is more for folks that have an Android phone? You mentioned the apps are for Android, which I assume the iPhone apps will not show? Are the "hacks" we have to perform to get it to work with CarPlay? I'm looking for something that will integrate with my iPhone easy like the new cars with the CarPlay feature. I have a Jeep but I'm not savvy to do all the work most people enjoy doing. I suck at it and I don't have the time.
@@adventuredex Is the unit waterproof? I have the stock radio/GPS that came in the 2015 Hard Rock Rubicon. This year I got caught in the rain twice and I'm not sure the K1 would survive being exposed to rain for 30 minutes or so. I know the Alpine is waterproof but it cost over $2K. Thoughts?
@@kevinowens7110 NO RCA connections on this stereo. It really pisses me off that I paid 700 bucks for this and you have to tap into a speaker to get a subwoofer to work.
Hey AdventureDex, I installed a K1 and it's great, but I've got a Brand Motion backup camera that's RCA. Do you know of an adapter I can buy to make them work together? Other suggestion?
I don't think there is much difference between the two other than the integration with that cluster panel. Both are raw android and don't have direct Android auto or car play, which for someone coming from a pioneer deck, means these are really lacking in integration with your phone and navigation. These two need your phones hotspot data. While, Alpine and pioneer will connect via WiFi but not through your hotspot, so they use direct data from your phone, which tends to be way way way more reliable and means that audio playback from streaming apps and GPS navigation is way more reliable on a deck that has direct Android auto and carplay integration.

I’ve been waiting for this to get the digital dash as well Only one question how rather proof are these things? I tend to get stuck in the rain a lot and also off-roading mudding etc. I believe the head unit would probably hold up but worried the digital dash would fry after 1 or 2 trips being stuck in some mild rain But basically the only reason I’d buy this headunit is the interface with the digital dash I like the nice alpine though especially since they do Jeep systems anyways that thing is legit and I know it water proof lol and it looks fantastic they match the lights with the all the dash lights in the Jeep Really looks OEM
