@mr.kreyol2673 yes you should read the contract very carefully and understand it completely. They strictly enforce every detail on the contract. It doesn’t sound like a big deal now, but it could turn into a big deal later.
At the time they weren't doing road test on Independent contractors that had worked for them before or that were at a certain experience level. I don't know what their current requirements regarding driving tests are now
You’re welcome. Good luck. I hope you do well there. This video was made over a year ago and I’m no longer there so I’m not sure if things have changed or not but it was a good company when I was there.
I just talked to a recruiter today and they only pay 1 dollar to 1.30 a mile. That’s garbage! No percentage pay. How is it possible to make money there on a lease.
I'm not sure which recruiter you talk to, but it sounds like some of the information you were given was wrong. It's a sliding mileage pay scale and at the time I was there it went from like a $1.15 a mile to $1.36 a mile + FSC. I guess it's possible rates could have changed a little bit since I was there but I doubt it. There's more to the equation than just the mileage pay and I've done several videos about it. It's important to point out that I also haven't worked there in about 10 months but the fuel surcharge makes it possible for you to make pretty good money there. For me. It still remains the highest paying job I've ever had inside or outside of trucking. Right now, Percentage is hit and miss. I'm currently running the spot market and doing very well but many people are not. Sometimes you can make more money on a mileage contract as I did at swift and sometimes you can make more on the spot market like I'm doing now. I never suggest anyone do a lease purchase for the sole purpose of making more money than they did as a company driver. While the potential is there to make more money as an independent contractor, there's also the potential to lose everything, especially if you have a major breakdown and don't have a large amount of savings or available credit

They have since changed the name of their channel and I no longer recommend them for several reasons so I won't be putting out the name of their channel currently but I'm sure you will find them fairly quickly with a UA-cam search
Truck speed ranges from 68 to 72 depending on if you take their optional forward-facing camera. If you refuse their camera you have to get your own insurance. They rely on that camera pretty heavily for following too close and u-turns and hard braking if you're using their camera. I recommend getting your own insurance and your own camera that they don't have access to and I have a video entitled how to get my exact insurance but you can use any insurance you want as long as it meets their requirements
I answered that at the start of the message. In your contract it says what the truck speed of the truck will be depending on if you accept the optional forward-facing camera or not.

Slavery? Are you kidding? If you're going to make a statement like that please elaborate. As for advertising, I'm not doing that either. I'm sharing my opinions and experiences here. People are curious and I have answers
@@cataha I only stayed at Swift for 5 months bro… I was approached by an owner operator and he’s paying me percentage pay on a W2. I don’t have anything bad to say expect I wished the pay was a little better, but it’s a training company to get your feet wet and learn how to drive… I could have left the second I got off my mentors truck but I stayed a while and got really good experience. No slavery at all man, that’s some bullshit you are uttering
@@cataha as an owner operator I go home whenever I want to. Also regarding the detention I'm not sure that's much of an issue either, because most of the stuff they have now is drop and hook. Obviously they are not for everyone and they're clearly not for you. What I don't get is why you let it affect you so much? If you don't like their policies you can always work somewhere else but when I get on my videos and badmouth them when they're not here to defend themselves. It's clear you don't like their hometown policy but I know they have regional and dedicated opportunities as well that would get you home a lot more. I'm curious where you're working now?
Took advantage of the veterans scholarship for my CDL, and did my first 14 months at Swift. If I was able to get on the one account I really wanted, I would have stayed. It’s a great place to learn, but only if you treat it like a training opportunity. Over my time there I got my endorsements and TWIC. Right before I left, I got my E restriction removed. With my experience there, and the things I picked up on the way, I was able to land an excellent gig here in Santa Barbara.
I was interested in swift's lease program at one time. I called talked to a recruiter and she was more interested in me producing a driving school certificate then telling me about the lease.. I have been driving truck since March 13 1996 .I have been with my current carrier for 11 years and she wanted to know if I had my school certificate? Sorry that was the only red flag I needed

What I've learned in life is I can't control what people are afraid of or not afraid of. If someone is narrow-minded enough that they are afraid to park by one specific company or something like that, that's a problem with them not me. As for why you we're not hired, it could have been job history, experience level, or where you live that held up your application. I have no idea, but if you email me I'll try to help you. truckertodd806@gmail.com
That reporting system you spoke of called Voice Your Choice is amazing. You can use it to report on customers also and every single department or individual in the company :) and they take what's said there seriously. Its sent to multiple levels of the chain :)
I'm currently not a tester. I have 3 years experience of running the actual load boards and I think that might have something to do with it but that's pure speculation on my part. One thing you learn in trucking is nothing is certain until it happens and even then it could end at any time. Just because they've told me it's going to happen at some point soon doesn't necessarily mean that it will
@@terryb5000 yes I know and I'll do that as soon as I can. Not everything you hear on UA-cam is true and I'm also trying to verify it with my contacts at Swift as well
There's no truth to it. It's just rumors and wishful thinking. He even asks in the title of the video if it is fake or not and ask for verification from drivers and I didn't see where anybody verified it. This is similar to what happens on Facebook when people post that certain celebrities have died. Swift is alive and well and we should all stop wishing that any company will fail
As an independent contractor you can go home whenever you want and stay as long as you want but you have to remember your fixed expenses are still being charged regardless. It's unlikely you're going to make the kind of money you want to make going home that often unless you have a really good dedicated account. Some of this will also depend on where you live and what your financial goals are. Typically guys that stay out 2 to 3 weeks will make more money than guys that go home weekly but there's times I go home weekly. You just need to plan for your home time
It depends if you're doing a company driver position or an owner operator / lease purchase position. I'm told they like company drivers to stay out about 3 weeks at a time. As you know owner operators or independent contractors can go home whenever they want but you just have to be mindful that your charges such as track payment and insurance never stop. For someone that needs to be home a lot I would recommend asking about regional or dedicated type opportunities
Yes it's still in beta. They have a lot of legitimate reasons why it's taking so long. All I can tell you is they are doing their best to get it out as quickly as possible but they want to make sure that they offer a product that is ready for prime time. Prematurely releasing yet would just leave to angry drivers quitting. I am 100% convinced that the final product will be something we can all be proud of
Right now the economy is fantastic. In the past the economy was fantastic. In the future the economy will be fantastic. I can't remember the last time I was unable to put a portion of my pay into savings and investment. The beauty of America 🇺🇸 is that ALL people have a wonderful opportunity to build and create great wealth. The economy that you must fix is the economy between your ears. It not "the economy" it is YOUR economy that you must master.
I got my start at swift. I really liked my trainer. He was a o/o who had Popeye characters on his truck. He had a 2011 Volvo with a 13 speed. Learn to drive it and Crisscross the country in 30 days. I thought trucking was beneath me but I tried everything else and driving is what I like. I'm taking time off now was driving for Crete and I'll go back to Crete. Hope you do good. Good luck.
Hey Todd...does your truck have a driver facing camera? Are you planning on paying off your truck or going into another lease once you've completed your 1st lease? Are you responsible for oil changes? Sorry bout all these questions brother I'm just trying to get all the details before committing to swift.
Swift doesn't have any driver facing cameras. They have an optional forward facing camera if you want it. I don't have or use theirs but I do have 2 of my own personal cameras installed. I believe dash cameras are important in this day and age but not ones that are controlled by the company
There's a lot more that is beneficial to our program, Julius Wade with interstate equipment leasing has helped make my experience amazing along the way. I have a 2019 t680
Swift can be good for some and not others, it depends on your personal situation. My first consideration is what to they pay and are they honest about it.
Yeah that can be true for pretty much every company. I do really well here and I haven't had any honesty issues. Obviously there's a lot of companies and there's no one company that's right for everyone but I feel like they are big enough that they've got something that'll work for nearly everyone

I am shocked about what youre saying with respect to Swift. The company gets such a bad rap and is painted in such a negative light. I am extremely happy that you are showing a real picture instead of just "Bonehead truckers" focusing on the few bad apples. Every company has them and we never hear about all the great Swift drivers.
Honestly I'm surprised I'm saying so much good about them. It has been a thousand times better than what I was expecting and the drivers I've met here have been better than what I was expecting. I have a video coming out very soon where I'm going to talk about bonehead truckers and swift drivers in general

That was my first 4 weeks here before I knew what I was doing. I do make more than that now, I usually average about 2,500 a week. I'm glad you're happy at ATS
That’s some good information. I’m starting to consider swift, I’ve jump off of opi because of the rates. If you can tell me what is the rpm over there or are you on percentage and since I live about 200 west of I35 it might be a better fit. I’m not sure yet but I always like to keep my opinions open.
Send me an email and I'll give you that information. I don't like to put it in a video comment section because that information could change. For example I've got guys watching videos from 3 years ago and telling me I'm underpaid not realizing rates have changed a lot in the past three years.
I wish. When you come to work here please suggest that to them. I also like the new top gun movie as well, can you ask Tom Cruise to send me a check as well?
We are all replaceable at any company. If you're going to make an accusation like that about Swift at least give us an example of what you're talking about.
I assure you I'm not a company shill. You should go back and watch some of my videos, I always tell the truth get her bad. But I'm more curious about you and your anonymous profile. Why don't you tell us more about yourself? Or why don't you start a UA-cam channel and tell us the truth that I'm missing?
The same could be said about a lot of companies though. How they became financially stable is irrelevant to me in my business as long as they are able to pay me. I don't have their financial records prior to or after the merger so I can't confirm or deny the claims
Like I'm going to talk about it tomorrow's video, people don't let the truth stand in the way of a good rumor. I think a lot of these people just like to gossip. I know what he's referring to, but nobody called it a buyout and both sides referred to it as a merger. I do believe Knight has the majority but I'm not even certain of that. Like I said I don't sit around reading financials all day because at the end of the day if I'm profitable and happy that is more important than all of the rest of the details

Fortunately, my recruiter allowed me to list you as referral with driver code, name & truck number. I'm applying to go Dedicated on the Berwick PA account.. hope to see you on the road. Thanks again!
Yeah she usually refers people to a good company recruiter if that's the direction they want to go. Good luck out there on the road. Please stay in touch and let me know how you're doing, you never know we may cross paths out here at one of the terminals. I usually try to tell people where I'm going in the videos in case they want to meet me somewhere
It’s not about how much you make it’s about how much you keep. After lease payment, insurance, fuel, maintenance etc. how much are you really making?
I agree with you completely. I've done videos about this but most weeks I take home between 2300 and 2800 after all expenses. Keep in mind I have a very expensive truck payment based on other people here and I took all the optional insurances, it's very possible that you could make more than me. But I do go slow when possible to save fuel and I'm pretty good at buying fuel at the right places
Thank you for the kind words Todd. Appreciate the shoutout and your being a part of the weekly shows in the chat :) Really Glad we have been helpful in assisting you make an informed decision about Swifts Program. ***The Swift Contractors Corner UA-cam Channel isn't supported or affiliated with Knight/Swift. To all the new guys looking to go into Swift it’s a great place to get started, and get your CDL…
I came here for the comments lol
Either way we're glad you're here
@@truckertoddllc reason I'm laughing is I applied here and they said my record wasn't good enough. 🤣 I don't have a record of anything bad. I'm also glad I didn't get hired because I don't want to drive everywhere knowing people are afraid to park next to me
What I've learned in life is I can't control what people are afraid of or not afraid of.
How did you get added as a tester me and a lot of other drivers have been told they weren’t adding anyone else
I'm currently not a tester. I have 3 years experience of running the actual load boards and I think that might have something to do with it but that's pure speculation on my part. One thing you learn in trucking is nothing is certain until it happens and even then it could end at any time. Just because they've told me it's going to happen at some point soon doesn't necessarily mean that it will
@@truckertoddllc that’s fucking bullshit you just kicked a hornets nest
Hey, the asian mai show is asking if it’s true that swift laid off 650 employees
I haven't heard that, but I'll find out and get you an answer shortly
Go to Asian mai show on you tube
@@terryb5000 yes I know and I'll do that as soon as I can. Not everything you hear on UA-cam is true and I'm also trying to verify it with my contacts at Swift as well
There's no truth to it. It's just rumors and wishful thinking. He even asks in the title of the video if it is fake or not and ask for verification from drivers and I didn't see where anybody verified it. This is similar to what happens on Facebook when people post that certain celebrities have died. Swift is alive and well and we should all stop wishing that any company will fail
Can I be a lease at Swift and Still come home weekly??
As an independent contractor you can go home whenever you want and stay as long as you want but you have to remember your fixed expenses are still being charged regardless. It's unlikely you're going to make the kind of money you want to make going home that often unless you have a really good dedicated account. Some of this will also depend on where you live and what your financial goals are. Typically guys that stay out 2 to 3 weeks will make more money than guys that go home weekly but there's times I go home weekly. You just need to plan for your home time
@@truckertoddllc Hey Todd thank you so much for replying, very kind of you. Appreciate it!!!
I was wondering how long u need to stay out for swift
It depends if you're doing a company driver position or an owner operator / lease purchase position. I'm told they like company drivers to stay out about 3 weeks at a time. As you know owner operators or independent contractors can go home whenever they want but you just have to be mindful that your charges such as track payment and insurance never stop. For someone that needs to be home a lot I would recommend asking about regional or dedicated type opportunities
is the load board still in beta? i remember its been in beta since last year. wonder what it's taking so long
Yes it's still in beta. They have a lot of legitimate reasons why it's taking so long. All I can tell you is they are doing their best to get it out as quickly as possible but they want to make sure that they offer a product that is ready for prime time. Prematurely releasing yet would just leave to angry drivers quitting. I am 100% convinced that the final product will be something we can all be proud of
@@truckertoddllc that's good to know ☺️ thanks for replying
No problem I appreciate you being here and watching the videos

Good luck.
Thanks for sharing your story. I'm glad to have you here and watching the videos. Thanks again
Yeah I've met a lot of great people so far and I'm going to be at the Phoenix terminal on the 6th and hope to meet a lot more great people
@@truckertoddllc awesome ur gonna love that terminal from wat I hear
JB Hunt used to be the company that driver's used to rag on about the things that they did as driver's
LOL yes I remember. We used to make up acronyms about all the different trucking companies such as JB Hunt and Swift
Hey Todd this is Mike I had done and online search about Swift leasing And had received the email from Jenny Castillo Telling me about Swift's lease program
I'm considering leaving my company 1st of August they're about. We talked on the phone for a little bit. Do I need to use her or can I chance driver rep
Let me find out. Have you done an application with her yet? Also please email me your name and phone number so I can look into this for you. truckertodd806@gmail.com
@@truckertoddllc awesome 👌. Looking forward to it 😀
What's the recruiter,s name and number please
Michelle Cantrell at 864-968-7605 and give her my driver code of WIRDA1 or give her my truck number 222999. She won't be back in the office until Monday. If she doesn't answer leave her a voicemail and she'll call you back as soon as she can
Well, that was informative. Great video
1800-2300 is not that good , I'm LP with ATS.and 3000 take home is normal my low is 2300 my normal high is 3300 been here 33 years.
That was my first 4 weeks here before I knew what I was doing. I do make more than that now, I usually average about 2,500 a week. I'm glad you're happy at ATS
Man Todd you are in good spirits. Glad you made the move to swift.

The only reason Swift is financially stable is because Knight Transportation bought them and paid off a lot of their debt.
@@truckertoddllc I worked for Knight and going by what they told me.
@@yolandac2958 Knight bought Swift and paid off a lot of their debt. That came straight from Knight.
Yes that is correct. They have bought several companies in the last few months just like you said
