      I never had so much trouble getting a driving job.its changed so much 20 years ago recruiters wouldnt leave u alone they bugged and bugged u.i used to get messages and emails from all kinds of companies.now i been trying to find a english speaking recruiter at swift for over a month but its nearly impossible.noone wants to try these days.i remember back when no matter what company u went to the orientation class would have 50+ drivers and it was like that every week.they use to hire hundreds of drivers and yet they had recruiters that called and got them in for training.i understand having alot of interest but how come they used to be able to handle all of the interest and now its all about a wait game.idk maybe its me lol. Maybe they arent worried about guys like me who already have a cdl.i get upset when i call and recruiters say hang on then transfer me to another recruiter and they do the same thing! Noone wants to talk to a expeirienced driver

      I think there's a lot of reasons for that now. One of the biggest reasons is it's hot hard to find people that want to work. Every company I know of is needing drivers, mechanics, and office people

      Mega carriers dont want to hire people because they are getting kick backs from the government. Hair follicles testing for drug testing is not what thier purpose is you have dna in your hair people are not catching on.

      I would totally disagree about TMC. You criticize the truck speed of Swift when the truck speed of TMC is much slower. Also TMC has policies at their terminals that you're not allowed to walk on the grass and that you must make your bed each day and things like that. We are not in boot camp and they are not my parents and I don't need their micromanagement

    Hi Todd.... Thanks for you're videos. You are doing a great job of providing good articulate information. It sounds like you are happy and successful with the lease purchase model. More power to ya. I hope it works well for you. However you should mention the down side to lease purchase. It's basically a huge conflict of interest, as your creditor, and customer are one and the same. The company holds all the cards, and has all the control over your truck, and most of these L/Ps can be cancelled by the company at any time, for any reason. Again, good for you if it's working for you and you are happy, but you should talk about the down side of this... Thanks, and keep the videos coming...

    • @truckertoddllc
      @truckertoddllc  2 роки тому

      I think that's relative to which company you're working for. In the past that was true, but now many leases are portable and can be moved to other companies. Again I don't want to go into too much detail here because it will create a lot of discussion and debate but there are options within my lease to pull for other carriers and to move my truck to another carrier if I felt the need

    • @peterdipiazza7945

    I'm being held up from attending the orientation on account of my recruiter is having trouble getting the SWIFT Doctors Evaluation form even though I have Photo Texted them from two different phones and Faxed them. (?!?) Yesterday I sent the signed copies via USPS Express Mail so I'm not giving up. After hours on the phone, hours watching videos and testing, dozens of Pulse App Texts and 40 Emails I'm getting annoyed with the process.
    I'll stick with it as 90% of the companies hiring these days are requiring at least 6 months of certifiable OTR Experience.

    Thank you for the info much appreciated. I start with Swift training upcoming Monday October 3rd. I did want to know, what do you recommend as for deliveries like reefer, dry van ect? I choose the family dollar account I did hear some downsides of it but it pays the most comparing to any other loads I believe.

    • @truckertoddllc
      @truckertoddllc  Рік тому +1

      It's really hard to tell you the answer to that question. Each driver has their own personal preferences. I stayed away from reefer because it only paid 3 cents a mile more and you go through a lot of Bologna at grocery warehouses just to get that extra 3 cents. But I know guys that love reefer and that's all they would ever consider doing. The same could be said about flatbed, I would never want to do it but a lot of guys only want to do it. That's the great thing about trucking, there's lots of different avenues you can go down and do for the most part what you want to do. Congratulations by the way on your decision to come to Swift. If you're wanting to go to Swift, I would call 1-800 -800 -2200 and get the recruiting department that way and they will get you connected with one of their schools. Not speaking specifically about Swift, but you will find that most recruiters are lazy and take the easy low hanging fruit. They basically sit at their desk and wait for the phone to ring and rarely return calls until you are in the door. I believe this is because they get a lot of calls and a lot of people never follow through or actually go to school or with the trainer. In their mind, It's a way to weed out who's serious and who's not. Again that's my opinion only. But I think if you call that number I gave you, you will reach a live person that will help you. Hey Trucker Todd, I'd like to ask you something ... besides the fuel sur charge, does swift pass down their discounts at the pumps?

    • @truckertoddllc
      @truckertoddllc  2 роки тому +2

      Their best fuel discounts are usually at the terminals. At the big five they give a nickel off of cash price which is not great in my opinion. In a couple of weeks I'll be promoting a fuel card that offers the best discounts I've found

      You are really showing how little you know. Owner operators run 70 on the cruise and 72 on the pedal if they accept the optional forward-facing camera and if you reject the camera it's 68 on the cruise and 70 on the pedal. I'm not 100% sure on company truck speed but I believe it's 65 or 67. You should really do some research before you come on here and make ridiculous statements that aren't true

    • @truckertoddllc
      @truckertoddllc  2 роки тому

      Yeah but what they don't tell you is that right now rates are down. And with them taking 35% of your rate, you need a load to pay about $3.15 a mile to be equivalent to your rate at Swift and right now those loads are few and far between. And they're fixed expenses are much higher than Swift's so you really need an even higher rate to compensate for the added expenses you will have at USA Truck
