This is by far one of the toughest trials a parent can go through . . . but its humbling to think that this is how our Heavenly Father must feel about each of us as we make foolish decisions when He can so clearly see our true potential . . . it is the most helpless feeling a family can go through.
Actually if you look up the numbers Christians are more likely to be in a gang or commit crimes and non-christians your Christ isn't helping anything that's just giving people an excuse to be terrible because God's going to take care of it
@@thebenplatt I don't want to speak for them, or get into their very personal details but I'll just say they each have taken a more secular approach to their worldview that doesn't leave any room for faith. I know the Lord can work mighty miracles so I continue to pray and have faith that they will gain testimonies again when they are ready.

It is amazing to me how many times I have talked to someone with wayward children who have prayed and the answer is - Work on YOU. It happened to me too. My answer was - "You worry about your OWN testimony". It is a testimony to me that we all get we all get the same answer. Thanks for sharing your story.

@@thebenplattAre you asking for a quote or wanting me to doxx the person you replied to? In any case as an exmormon, you should remember the story of Alma the Younger (that's probably being shoved down your throat now). That's a good example of what the above person is saying. That doesn't get us anywhere in this conversation. I'm more curious why you left Mormonism but went to Christianity. What got you out of CoJCoLDS that took you to Christianity (best if you specify which denomination)? Did you even consider RLDS, FLDS or any of the other sects? Do you think Joseph Smith was led astray by a devil, in which case what's you're criteria for determining who was and wasn't? Only Smith has the handshake rule. Sure he didn't use it in the Grove, but that'd be a weak reason to pick someone else. Or are you just going by the Bible? That's dangerous. Just sticking to the Gospels, the entire end of Mark, a good deal of Gethsemane in Luke and some stories in John were all added in by scribes later on. Love Mormonism or hate it, but it's one of the only ones that acknowledges the corruption of the Bible by the adversary. Sorry for bombardment, and you might never reply, but I am just curious. Don't bear your testimony though, just explain reasons. I've watched exmormon Christian testimonies, and I don't find them any more compelling. Just explain some reasons please
So many amazing things to learn from this beautiful loving mother. My favorite takeaway was that you cannot compare the “good” son to the “bad” son. The purpose of life is to have experiences and they are both having experiences. Yes! Thank you for opening my eyes and helping me see all of my children with more love and less judgement. ❤❤❤❤

@@thebenplattBen Platt, prove Christianity then with objective reasons. It'll be difficult. Josephus's writings won't really help. Yeshua was a common name. Gospels don't agree and scribes changed them at least a known amount possibly an unknown amount of times. Ask very theologically literate Jews how to prove Jesus with the old Testament, and they'll probably look at you funny. I don't know why you'd disagree with the simple statement of there being power from reading the book of Mormon. Brenda never specified what power. You could have said the power was stupidity or confirmation bias. That would have been decently clever and only equally rude. No but these comments on comments is not going to be productive. Thank you for sharing your experience on this matter. We have been thru this experience with one of my grandson. I know the pain and and problem caused by their choices they make. My grandson has been clean for about 1 1/2 year now. Knock on wood, we hope he will never relapse. Did a lot of fasting and prayer for him. You are right about one thing. You need to love them as Jesus Chris would.
Oh how I felt everything Cheri was explaining.. I have too been going thru addiction with my oldest son.. he is finally in a rehab that is amazing. He's also reading the BOM every day. Our Father is so wonderful!! My oldest wanted to leave after only 2 weeks being in rehab... when he was in the office wanting to get discharged, a bird flew into the window & died. Now, if that's not a sign, idk what is.. anyway, after talking with me & me being upset is what changed his mind about staying. B4 he told me he was staying, I was pleading with my Heavenly Father to plz help Ryan see that he cannot do this on his own.. within a couple mins is when he told me he was staying. Oh, how I love the Gospel!! Oh, how I love the scriptures!! Oh, how grateful at how much He knows how much we can handle & blesses us even when we feel less than worthy to receive. I'm a daughter of God & I'm so pleased to feel that love from Him & our Savior!! Thank you so much for sharing this interview. It's helped me know that I'm not alone in this battle as a Mother. 🙏❤️⚘️
Cheri, thank you for sharing your powerful testimony and example of what Christ can do in our life’s! So so beautiful! I love your families conviction to the miraculous power of the Book of Mormon and I love the way the lord taught you about your son and what you needed to do. This is going to help so many people. Thank you so much for sharing your witness! This is such an important message!
Wonderful story of life’s battle and overcoming with the help of the Lord. I know that to be true. Thank you for the reminder. We are in the spiritual war and only with the Lord’s help we can feel the strength to face and overcome it, every day.
I thank Father and my oldest son for teaching me so much about how to love unconditionally.. all my children and grandchildren are inactive bu putting God first I learn to love them and find Joy through it all.
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective as a parent. Especially when you talked about going through the grief that hits as you watch your child struggling. I feel this deeply right now, as I am watching two of my children make life choices that break my heart. Your words and example brings me hope.
It is like when you are on an airplane and that oxygen drops down and you are told to put the oxygen on you first before to put it on your child. If you pass out then your child will pass also
Not all mothers and their children aren't as blessed as her. Some lose the battle to addiction. Prayer, scripture, the knowledge that God is gracious, are all comforting. Going through the stages of the process of mourning, is so important. Believing in God's plan brings solace. To those going through this, my prayers and thoughts I send you. The strength is there, even when you think you can't take anymore. May you feel Gods love, through the darkness. He will never leave you. 🙏🏻
Good grief man. The language you are using is not good. Just because someone appears to not have any problems doesn’t make them a better kid than a kid who has easily seen problems. We are all on different paths. We have different biological make ups, we have different neurological compositions, we have different experiences and encounters with the world around us. All these confounds can lead an individual a certain way. Your kids are JUST AS GOOD as other kids who appear to be “perfect” (whatever that means). To be honest, because your sons went through such hardships, and turned to Jesus Christ in those hardships, I guarantee you that they have a stronger character and stronger testimony than those “perfect” kids you speak of who have never had anything difficult happen on their lives.

I love that metaphor of The Book of Mormon opening the gates of heaven and countless angels fighting on our side. That is a beautiful metaphor.
