I finished reading Letter to the American Church last night as I went to sleep. During the night I dreamed about 2 Samuel 20 so I looked it up when I awoke. It is the story of a wise woman who took a stand to save her city from destruction. I will not remain silent. Thank you for awakening my consciousness to the fact that I CAN make a difference, even though I’m in my 60s.

I find myself having to speak the Truth, about "politically correct" mind bending, (example: saying "them" when speaking about one person, in order not to use the male "him" as has been done in the English language. WE ARE DESTROYING THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE WITH SUCH RIDICULOUS PHRASES!!! Other languages have the Neutral part of speech, "IT" when speaking about a child, for instance. No need to identify gender, just a child, where IT is a general way to express the point). I have written about the self sacrifice required, in order for all of us to "do our little part" towards cleaner air, by NOT, using a drive-by window at a business, which often becomes a long line of cars around the building, all expelling gas exhaust, when it would be better to "PARK & WALK". I have been insulted for speaking up, but I know I need to try to get others to see the reasoning behind what I say or write.

Thank you both! I stood alone in my school speaking and DOING what was true and good for the children against such oppression. The slander and bullying by the administration was beyond anything i could have imagined. These men are correct. I didn’t compromise and paid a price as some will always believe the slanderous statements. But I can promise that I have peace when I lay my head down on my pillow and I KNOW my God is forever with me and directing my path. This isn’t my “real” home and we aren’t promised an easy life when following Christ but the inner joy and peace He gives will sustain until I am home with Him!!

I was happy to hear his testimony also. It's interesting to hear how God works in people's lives through there very personal experiences. I had a very similar experience with the Lord when He was drawing me to Himself. He used reason and someone else's dream about me. I also had the experience in reality of colors being brilliant after I was born again--like sunglasses were removed from my eyes. It happened after hearing the gospel about Jesus dying for my sin and being convicted of being a sinner while watching a TV evangelist. I repented and asked the Lord to forgive me thru tears of sorrow. Then it was as if a waterfall washed through my body from head to toes and a burden was lifted. I felt cleansed, joyful and light as a feather. I also immediately knew the Bible was God's Word and it was all true. It was like I was experiencing another dimension and God's presence just flooded me. I haven't been the same since that day in 1985. I found out later that Jesus said in the Bible that we must be born again--that's what it felt like--a spiritual birth. God is so amazing!!! Thank you, Jesus, for dying in my place. I can't express how grateful I am that you would die for me. I will always speak Your truth. Help me to always be courageous.

Our old church decided to "love their neighbor" by closing, then counting, distancing, required masking, and even photographing people so they could give the county a list in case someone got covid. We left, as did a huge number of members. We joined a church that probably doubled since covid. Our new church did close briefly but opened in the early summer and were back to normal without any requirements within 4 months.
It wasn't covid that caused our family to leave after nearly two decades, but the theology behind the decisions made. The first church appeared to fear the world's opinion and sought to submit church worship to the government. The second believed God is sovereign and we obey Him, regardless of man's opinion.

I wrote and rewrote this comment a dozen of times and still can't get it shorter than this. I am overly joyous/excited/thrilled after watching this video and for many many reasons too. One of them is that is extremely satisfying to listen to smart, intelligent, erudite, man whose hearts are in the right place. Man who love the truth, righteousness, justice, and above all GOD our creator. Another very important thing is the message and I need to tell you guys: It has been received. I was also struck by the Eric's testimony about how he came to Jesus. This is exactly what happened to me just a different dream. May I just say - Mr Peterson I appreciate how you pushed Eric to tell this story because in actuality this is our testimony/witness for the kingdom. I have also noticed that this theme keeps coming up over and over in Christian media. It confirms and encourages my believe that we have to take a stand and not be passive observers of what's going on around us. I learn to take responsibility for my own words and actions. Dear brothers and sisters in the faith, I want to leave you with this: if you do not find it in yourself - go to our Father in heaven. He is the one who will give you the change of heart. You can't do anything without Him. This is all H e wants - for you to seek Him, trust Him, obey Him. THE BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD. Choose who is your Lord today!

Just wanted to say that I appreciate you and especially your name Truthseeker. This is a great episode, but it all must go back to the person of Christ. He founded one religion in the year, 33, ad. The same religion has persisted, and even gone underground to a degree. You can still find the places where the Catholic Church existed 2000 years ago. The writing show evidence of the same teachings and the same sacraments. This is why my wife’s family have always been St. Thomas Christians and their faith has never changed. But heresy cannot save you

The Pope Pius XII, the Pope at the time, did speak out, in fact he was honored by a Jewish rabbi’s for doing so. Many Catholics saved Jews. It was a difficult time as the Church was being persecuted and many Christians were martyred, too, a fact that isn’t usually talked about. Thousands of clergy were killed by the Nazis. The Pope was an unrelenting opponent of the new German “ideals”-even writing an entire encyclical, ‘Mit Brennender Sorge’ (1937), to condemn them. He widely condemned them before he became pope, and after. When Pius XI died in 1939, the Nazis abhorred the prospect that Pacelli, Pope Pius XII, might be elected his successor because he had been so outspoken against them.
The Pope secretly worked to save as many Jewish lives as possible from the Nazis, whose extermination campaign began its most intense phase only after the War had started. The negative consequences of speaking out strongly were only too well known. “In one tragic instance, the Archbishop of Utrecht was warned by the Nazis not to protest the deportation of Dutch Jews. He spoke out anyway and in retaliation the Catholic Jews of Holland were sent to their death. One of them was the Carmelite philosopher, Edith Stein. While the U.S., Great Britain, and other countries often refused to allow Jewish refugees to immigrate during the war, the Vatican was issuing tens of thousands of false documents to allow Jews to pass secretly as Christians so they could escape the Nazis.
What is more, the financial aid Pius XII helped provide the Jews was very real. Lichten, Lapide, and other Jewish chroniclers record those funds as being in the millions of dollars-dollars even more valuable then than they are now. “In his memoirs, the then Chief Rabbi Zolli of Rome writes that he was sent to the Vatican, where arrangements had already been made to receive him as an ‘engineer’ called to survey a construction problem so that the Gestapo on watch at the Vatican would not bar his entry. He was met by the Vatican treasurer and secretary of state, who told him that the Holy Father himself had given orders for the deficit to be filled with gold vessels taken from the Treasury.” Thousands of Jews were shelter by the Vatican, monasteries, churches, and even the Pope’s summer home.
His success in protecting Italian Jews against the Nazis was remarkable. Lichten records that after the War was over it was determined that only 8,000 Jews were taken from Italy by the Nazis -far less than in other European countries. In June,1944, Pius XII sent a telegram to Admiral Miklos Horthy, the ruler of Hungary, and was able to halt the planned deportation of 800,000 Jews from that country.
The Pope’s efforts did not go unrecognized by Jewish authorities, even during the War. The Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Isaac Herzog, sent the Pope a personal message of thanks on February 28, 1944, in which he said: “The people of Israel will never forget what His Holiness and his illustrious delegates, inspired by the eternal principles of religion which form the very foundations of true civilization, are doing for us unfortunate brothers and sisters in the most tragic hour of our history, which is living proof of divine Providence in this world.”
After the war, Rabbi Zolli became a Catholic and, to honor the Pope for what he had done for the Jews and the role he had played in Zolli’s conversion, took the name “Eugenio”-the Pope’s given name-as his own baptismal name. Zolli stressed that his conversion was for theological reasons, which was certainly true, but the fact that the Pope had worked so hard on behalf of the Jews no doubt played a role in inspiring him to look at the truths of Christianity. Excerpts from Catholic Answers.
Because of the lies that were spread at the time, not many people heard about what the Catholic Church did for the Jews, but now much of it has come out. I am proud that my Church was so outspoken an and saved so many. I am sure there are Protestant Christians that saved Jews, too, but you couldn’t toot your horn loudly at the time the Jews were being killed, or they wouldn’t have saved any. Besides, a good Christian wouldn’t draw attention to himself, anyway, just work secretly.

@@davidm1149Yes, they are the same. It’s the same communist ideals that Russia has spread. The Blessed Mother Mary appeared to 3 peasant children in a Portugal in 1917. She told them the war would soon end, but if the people didn’t turn back to God and pray the Rosary for peace, another worse war would happen. Of course, it did. She also said if Russia wasn’t consecrated to her Immaculate Heart, that Russia would spread its errors through the world. That has obviously happened, too. It’s time to pray the Rosary for peace, before it’s really too late!

I agree, but he was a bit hard on Luther. One thing Luther was trying to advance was the grace of God which is available for those who do put their trust in Christ for their own salvation. This was on the heels of the Roman church who at that time was laden with corruption e.g. selling indulgences to people who want to get a relative or friend released from purgatory, et al. There is no doubt that there are tepid people in every denomination, but that will change, I hope & pray.

    • @mbfrommb3699
      @mbfrommb3699 Рік тому

The problem with Eric is that he promotes a false gospel. If we're relying on our works or our actions (which are subjective because he can't say how many works are needed) for salvation then he will never have a perfect assurance of salvation. It's a religion. If you ask any religious person "Do you believe you're going to Heaven?" They will answer "I hope so. I hope I have done enough good works or have been good enough."
This is not the Gospel of Jesus.
      John 6
38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
What is the Will of the Father? "that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life"
Where is the requirement of our works? It doesn't exist.
      John 5
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
Today's Christianity mixes salvation with service which makes it a religion. Salvation is the moment you put your trust in Jesus to save you. "To Repent" is Metanoia - a Change of Mind. The Jews trusted in the Law, we trust in our good works, Jesus says change your mind stop trusting in yourself and trust Him to save you.
Does that mean we can sin freely? Yes and No. Hades and Eternal Hell are off the table when we are Born Again so in this case yes.
However, being Born Again by faith in Jesus means we are now a Child of GOD.
John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
      Galatians 3
26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Even though Hades and Hell are off the table, as the LORD's Children our sin is not ignored.
      Hebrews 12
For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”
7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?
When a mother has a child whether it's Jesus or Hitler that child is hers. There is nothing that can erase the fact that they are their parent's child. When we are Born Again we become Children of GOD. Nothing can alter this fact.
However, as a good parent when we willingly rebel the LORD will chasten us. If I cheat on my wife just because I am Born Again doesn't mean I am immune to the damage of my choices; my sin.
James 2 isn't about salvation it's about the "profitability" of my faith.
14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
If I don't live out my faith I'm still saved. However, it doesn't do anyone any good in finding Jesus if I am not living out my faith. That's what James 2 is about.
Salvation- Believe in Jesus and you will be saved. Forever. Done. Sealed. You've passed from death to life.
Service- a choice to express the gratitude you have for the gift of salvation. This does not save you, keep you saved or prove you are saved. The Lost do good works all the time.
Discipleship- a decision to dedicate your life to Jesus through ministry.
I pray that we can learn to rightly divide God's Word and not mix salvation with service and discipleship to make Jesus into a religion. That's what the Pharisees did with Scripture. Hope this helps. Take care.
