By their fruits ye shall know them. Interviews like this help remind me how much of a fruit of the restoration the Book of Mormon is. Truly nourishing to the soul.

So many people struggle with addiction and this message is needed. I believe that the Lord can heal addiction and the Book of Mormon is a powerful way to access his spirit and direction. It is such a marvelous gift and guide. It was written for our day and for the modern day challenges that surround us! Well done! 🙌😁

So great to hear this story. I served in the same mission as Beau, he was an awesome missionary and I had no idea his back story. Thanks for putting this story out there.

The adversary wants us to feed on our feeling of failure. I started reading and praying to help a family member through the beginnings of addiction. I did it to save them and it saved me. I had been away from church for so long I felt hopeless. I had some serious revelations while reading my scriptures.

Wow, this testimony is amazing! I loved how he emphasized the application of the Book of Mormon in Alma 60:7 showing how every problem can be resolved through scripture by applying the unto us. I agree, we need more and more testimonies online. Between this channel, the Comeback podcast and the evangelical friend ( I forgot his name) you guys are opening more and more voices to praise Heavenly Father and bring about the Restoration of the Gospel.

I heard this a year ago and had no solutions to offer parents because, at that time, I was that parent watching addictions enslave my children. I was hurt and angry at God. I was a failure and I had done everything I was told was going to keep my children safe. Now, one year later, I learned that I need to keep myself ‘right with God.’ If I don’t stay on solid ground, where will my children go when they are looking for solid ground?
It was good to hear this again.

We just love you to pieces Beau! You were so kind to me and our family when I was having health challenges. I was so embarrassed coming to Church looking the way I did but always felt loved and accepted by you. You wrote a note on yellow notebook paper many years ago that I still read over and over again to this day. I can’t imagine how difficult life has been to you but the Christlike character and qualités you’ve developed have blessed so many. ThankYou for your courage in sharing your journey, Mike and I loved your story and sent the video all our kiddos.

Another beautiful experience! The Book of Mormon is simply amazing in its simplicity and power to testify of Christ and this love for us all!
Why is it that it seems it’s better to fall as far as possible in order to find monetary and faith solutions? Not that I would, but I’m like, maybe I should go on a binge of drugs, lose my family, my faith, and come back? Talk about being angry with God, I’m afraid of my shadow, I’m stuck in a job I hate, making not enough money to be on our own but too much to go be on welfare (for now) born in the most free part of the world and I have been nothing but an epic failure. 😢 It’s hard not to just give up trying to be obedient even. It’s like being on the freeway watching everyone pass you by doing 80mph in a 65mph zone.

The Book of Mormon has such spiritual power. We can overcome anything with Him. Even those things that we feel we were born with. Satan will always be right there when you turn to God. He doesn’t want you to come to God. Ignore all bad thoughts and keep turning to God no matter what.

The host’s comment regarding deity being more apt to respond with increased effort was interesting. I was raised Catholic. Catholic’s believe that as well. The problem is that you start increasing the volume of your dedication to unhealthy levels. Then the religion becomes your new addiction. I saw this all the time with Catholic priests and even monks - Praying 20 hours a day. I personally had to leave religion altogether in the 1970’s for my own mental health. But everyone has their own journey. Good luck to your guest on his journey to overcome addiction.

Ya everything should be done in balance. Our leaders council daily prayer and daily scripture study and weekly church attendance. But we also are counseled to get married, raise families, provide for those families, serve in our communities… prayer and scripture study should just be a spring board to each day, not the whole days activities. :). Wish you the best my friend, thanks for your comment.

God allows us to go through pain, because He knows that the conversion that can happen because of the trial, is deep and lasting. If we didn't have darkness, we would not understand and appreciate light!

What a beautiful story of redemption that sheds so much light on the hope available to all of us for healing and wholeness through Christ. Thank you, both of you, for having the courage to show up and share. As the spouse of an addict, and someone who is working to face their own shortcomings and be strengthened in Christ, this means a lot. So much love and gratitude to you both. God is so good ❤

“We may, indeed, be sure that perfect chastity-like perfect charity-will not be attained by any merely human efforts. You must ask for God’s help. Even when you have done so, it may seem to you for a long time that no help, or less help than you need, is being given. Never mind. After each failure, ask forgiveness, pick yourself up, and try again. Very often what God first helps us towards is not the virtue itself but just this power of always trying again. For however important chastity (or courage, or truthfulness, or any other virtue) may be, this process trains us in habits of the soul which are more important still. It cures our illusions about ourselves and teaches us to depend on God.” -C. S. Lewis

The spirit said listen to this and I'm grateful for your counsel that I will fail but keep doing it. I'm 67 years old and you answered the questions in my mind and now I know to keep going. Thank you loving Father and thank you boy for setting so specifically what my path is going to look like. Did you ever do the 12 step program or have a therapist. I'm not sure this will be helpful. I'd love to hear your counsel.

Mark Twain called the book of Mormon "chloroform in print" and "if you left the "and it cam to pass " out it would only be a pamphlet. Some LDS scholars have accepted the position that the book is not historical but spiritual.
