Brilliant truck combinations. Making full use of the power of the mighty Volvo and scania flagships. To all you American viewers, this is proper high power, high weight capacity distribution, European style. No poxy 80,000 lbs load limits here. Most of those American trucks (although some are nice) are all fur coats and no knickers!!!
We need those in the states to make Trucking more efficient and more cost-effective it also looks like it's good for the roads as I see the Swedish roads are in very good condition
In Sweden you just need a CE-license to drive those combinations. Mostly because most Swedish drivers do their drivers test with those combinations. So even if I've mostly driver semi trucks, with a 50 ton limit (no overhang on the container chassi trailer so the wheelbase can be longer), I still did my tests with a 24 meter combination.
Mooie opnames.
Meanwhile in finland our trucks are 34,5 meter long and 76-tons.wreight. Sad but true in here..if your truck not are atleast 25,25 meter it is useless in are homeland hauling. In a future under 30 meter trucks are coming way too small.Cargo loads growing and we need accsept that.Means bigger trucks and trailers.
Doesn't the ferry allow 25.25 m combinations? You could save a lot of money doing the trailer reorganization in the German harbor before driving onto the ferry rather than doing it in Sweden. Also, the gross vehicle weight table was amended about two years ago, now it goes to 64 tonnes if 20.2 m from first to last axle.
+grobetog I also think you misunderstood the ferry part, it's only the 2 truck there are on the ferry + 1 trailer [without Tractor], so it isn't 3 truck on the ferry, in the old days, we did sail out with the ferry from Copenhagen [Tuborg havn] with 24 m combi, as was allowed in Sweden before the new 25.25 m rules...
I dont understand why americans dont allow 25 m trucks and focus on cab over engine trucks because you could then transport alot more and reducing the transportation cost?
Crash protection. Most drivers in the US refuse to drive cab overs because they feel unsafe in case of a crash. There are a few for town deliveries, but most of them are large
Great video explanation. A shame that restriction for the lenght of the truck are not equal all across Europe. I really can't understand why the "political" or whatever reasons for this. As a spanish truck driver, i feel that that the 750hp. of the Volvo FH16 I drive are wasted with a maximal lenght of 16,5 meters... a real shame.
Because the roads wear out faster if you have heavier trucks running on it. roads and especially bridges in Germany are in real bad conditions due to years of cutting in maintenance costs. Maybe the toll for cars might chance something about that now but I don´t think so.
yes, youre right. having 5 axles on 50t puts as much wear on road as 10 axles with 100t. so having a general weight limitation is unecessary in that matter. but 100t puts a lot more stress on the trucks themselves compared to 50t since the engine and drivetrain has to be put under twice the load to do anything at all. so its all in what way you look at it in.
my question is, when the driver drives more “meters” is it a change in the salary? i understand the savings in fuel, co2 and so on. but for the driver?
@@mochiii608 it depends really, most of the drivers will probably (I am not an expert) recieve pay for what their licence covers them to drive as such, I am second guessing, but as in sweeden the overall length is longer, the drivers are paid to drive the maximum length permitted, although I would think that it would be about the same pay for any large goods vehicle, and depends more on what the company policy is.
Protem-HVG Driver Owen how would you consider it? I understand skills, experience and so on. but then again, all Europe and not only is complaining about the lack of truck drivers. why is that? is it because there is no satisfaction regarding the pay check compared with the work put up? or is it because sometimes the driver loads and unloads? or is it because the fact that is harder and harder to find parkings in Germany due the high traffic, therefore more stress? ! how do you see it?
The EU/ Deutschland government is wonderful. Swallow a gazillion Arab and African immigrants, buy our cheap Euro subsidised BMWs, but please don't expect transport integration.
so and the way home you swap trailers, both combinations become shorter again and the 5 axle trailer stays behind in the port of Sweden? how and with what does this get loaded?
Yea i laughed at that too, i have a Oslo unloadinh with 25m around 90 degree corner into the dock, backing up straight with that much room is no problemo at all.
Lmao what bullshit. Like all truck are like that in sweden it not standard over there stil alot of normal truck driver there to but do driver more of this long truck but stil is special even for you guys there Next time go to ETS2 forum if like to brag.
2-3 such trucks driving together on a road with only one lane in each direction and all other cars following them are fucked up. This will result in traffic congestion if the trucks are driving slowly or in fatal accidents if they're driving fast.
1:31 and on. Do you truckers get some sexual pleasure from doing this? WHY do you overtake each other? You can't go faster than 89kph! It takes 10 minutes for one behemoth to overtake another one and then you go WITH THE SAME SPEED. Only AFTER you've disrupted the traffic and caused car drivers to slow down. What the hell is wrong with you!?
Well said Adi, you beat me to it. the fault is the stupid limiter laws the drivers have to live with, as do car drivers. Blame the legislators, not the drivers. There is a simple solution of course, allow short limiter override, say 5 minutes, to allow lighter and faster lorries to pass quicker and more safely. Of course they won't do it, anymore than the UK won't allow trucks to drive at the legal speed in UK, 60 mph (100km/hr), when they could cancel the EU inspired law along with all the rest. Or, perhaps, force limiters on ALL vehicles Ha Ha. Who'd be stupid then Mr Brat (well named btw;-) )

I know from experience that the americans do not like europeans laughing at US trucks. But I will give them one thing , they are great at tarping !

Great video, with a very nice fleet of trucks
