I've been looking for a diy removable floor for my apartment..... but in my experience laying adhesive flooring (peel and stick) is not temporary flooring in that you can easily pull them up without possibly damaging the floors underneath. Just want to put that out there for anyone attempting this. However, what actually works... and well is laying down plastic wrap with two sided tape then laying down peel and stick on top of the plastic wrap. Once everything is laid down it will act as a floating floor and will not shift once it is done. You can also use the white presentation boards and cut out the shape of the floor as you go and sticking them down using double sided tape.
Looks nice. But you should’ve done one whole line then cut half of one and lay it next to it and continue doing whole ones and so on. To give it the brick’s layout.
I am glad you showed this because I wanted to know how it would look in straight lines vs. staggered. I know other people do staggered but this looks nice also. Its good to see both ways.
For those who try this, jus know they are a nightmare to pull up but its not impossible. Use "Goo be Gone" to remove the sticky residue. Recommend not peeling all the paper off the back but leave a small rectangle portion of on the backside and stick dwn the sides only. Sticks jus as good and less to peel up.
CoolBreeze Sounds Your absolutely right. Another way is to lay down large poster board with double sided tape. Then tile over it. Everything will come right up without the extra work.
@@T.C.-EDU oooh I like that. Im currently redoing my kitchen back splash and floor. Imma have to try that. Might have to try it on one of the bathrooms we dont really use much.
@@ssamyaa you can use big white poster boards under the tiles to protect the original flooring and to clean you can use a flat mop like a swifer mop with cleaning spray solutions. Instead of dumping water on the floor. Poster broad is card board. You can also Lay plywood under the tiles if you want something sturdier.
Thank you! This is the first rental diy kitchen I've seen with my aesthetic. All the bits and pieces I had bee eyeballing, all put together in one beautiful kitchen. (I started with your cabinet make over and ended up here.) Thank you for giving me courage to try. Only thing I worry about is the peel and stick flooring removal at the end of my rental. Does it actually come up without damaging the floor at the end?
I watched your videos yesterday and I loved how it came out great job. I would like to know how it is holding up a year later. I would like to do it in my house and my landlord gave me the ok. So I would appreciate if you could let me know. Thank you in advance 😊
Thanks! I was looking for someone doing this specifically to a rental! Have you tested out how they peal up by any chance? I just don't want to do anything that will take my security deposit away! lol
The real question is do they come up easily. I've seen people use poster board underneath. I'm glad you tried this before me😊🤣But seriously do they come up?
@@angelaredmond5337 BUT THAT'S LINOLEUM ON TOP OF LINOLEUM. WHAT IF YOU PUT IT ON TOP OF AN EXISTING TILE? SHOULD BE EASIER TO REMOVE AND CLEAN, RIGHT?
You made one mistake but its mostly cosmetic, you didn't stagger the joints which kind of kills the look of individual floor panels. Look at any wood floor and you will get what I'm saying. We been looking into these for our house nice video
I also made such a floor in my living room and I am not very happy with it, despite the preparation of the substrate, the panels come off and without the use of additional glue, I would not buy it a second time.
You can’t! Buuuut you can lay down giant white poster board with double sided tape on your floors first! Then tile over that. It’ll come right on up when you move.
In my experience over time theyre fairly easy to pull back up. If you have a hard time you can get a damp wash cloth and wipe over the crack to loses the sticky residue. If you still have some residue left over when peeled up you can try to mop, use acetone, or a scraper is good. Or some kind of glue gone cleaner.
Hey I really wanna try this but does anyone know if it comes off easily? Without risk to the floor? I wanna do this in my apartment but I've seen some vids where it comes off and damages the floor. I will get the same kind that you have here in the video though, cuz I saw it at Menard's and that's what gave me the idea. But I am just concerned about how it comes off.
I guess it depends on the type of floors you have to begin with. It didn’t damage ours at all. Here’s the link to the video of us removing the peel and stick floors. Hope this helps 😇 ua-cam.com/video/dkPqGy7s0wg/v-deo.html
@@DailyWithTheDunns It did help! I think you've convinced me to give this a try! It does look super easy. I can't wait because the floors in my microscopic kitchen are kinda old and tbh feel like they've maybe had one too many things spilled on them 😂 I think the videos of the peel and stick flooring damaging the original flooring were of a different kind than you used here too. This brand looks great! Thanks so much!
We mop it just like a regular floor. So far so good. I show how it holds up while mopping in our 1 month update video. The link is in the description 🤗
It has not damaged our floors underneath. We plan on pulling ours up when we move as well. I just posted a 1 month update video on our channel to show how it’s holding up
How much did they cost you my kitchen is a bit bigger but has gross floors from the 70s. Lol and after 5 years I'm finally sick of them enough to just put something else over them.
Hi! We've recently uploaded a tutorial showing how we removed our peel and stick floors with no damage.

Where do you buying the sticker from?
How many nice did you use for your kitchen ?

Can you do this over an existing peel and stick floor that is peeling off? The landlord wont change it
Thank you I was looking for this
Oh thank so much. I hope I can pull this off!
@@user-ji8ll1qn6oI was wondering the same thing, my landlord won’t fix anything. So I will, and I’ll keep a box with all of his fixtures in them😊
I'm doing this to my dads kitchen and painting his cabinets for fathers day he dont know it yet been saving up to do it for him.... SURPRISE 🙌🙌🙌😆😆😆
Selena Mae omg so awesome!!! The perfect gift 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I know this is 2yrs old, but I like it! You do it the way that's comfortable for the both of you. Which is what matters. Stay Blessed

thank you for this! I would recommend staggering the planks next time though.

Definitely needs to be staggered

I’m curious how this held up for you guys?? With time/wear & tear PLUS mopping . Did you have to be extremely careful when cleaning the floors ??
I'd been waiting to hear back from a handyman. Seeing this confirms a DIY project
Stagger the joints as it looks much better. Also use a floor roller to press the tile down more firmly.
How well did they hold up? How was it to remove them leave a residue or anything?

Those are awesome.
How much for that ? And what's the best way to clean them ,just use a Swift jet or something probably??

I had a same question. Beautifully done. Would there be any adhesive residues that are difficult to clean?
I have 2 dogs. Would you say the peel and stick is sturdy enough for dog traffic?
Yes! We have a dog and it has held up just fine.
What about when you mop will it come off
Really nice good job 👏
Are these easy to remove after you are done renting
Yes, they lift up easily. No damage to the original tile flooring underneath
The pattern of how it’s being laid is giving my anxiety lol but other than that it looks good!

Yes
How have they held up?
How is it when you mop? Lol. I’m so worried they’ll come up
