Joey Jordison is the drummer's name and he passed away a legend at 46 in 2021. RIP
Rip to the legend
RIP Joey and paul!
Rest in peace
R.İ.P.🔥👑
Damn idk how I missed this news. That's rough.
I could be wrong, but I believe this song is a response to some local radio personalities in Des Moines, Iowa (Slipknot’s home town) who were talking shit about Slipknot and attempted to have them pulled off the radio.
The drummer in all of the songs you mentioned is Joey Jordison. He was, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest metal drummers ever. He passed away in 2021.
Corey is a fantastically gifted and diverse vocalist, but what is often overlooked by reaction channels is how incredibly talented the musicians are and how well orchestrated the music is.
I think this is absolutely correct. If memory serves when Slipknot was coming up there was a group of local DJ's in Iowa who kind of thought they should determine what was hot or not and if you didn't play their game and what not you didn't get played. Obviously Cory wasn't about that and in the end Slipknot blew up and then the DJ's were all kissing backside so this is the result. At least as far as I know.
Yeah everything I ever heard was that it was the local radio jockeys. Also RIP Joey, sad they had a falling out at the end...
@@MisterHades666Yes, there was a bit of a falling out with Joey when he left 10 or 11 years ago (I don't recall the exact year he left and Jay Weinberg stepped in). However, his ultimate departure from the group was moreso due to increasing symptoms from transverse myelitis (a spinal cord disorder) that was making it more and more difficult for him to continue performing. Slipknot is an interesting group to learn about partially due to the sheer size of the group (what other group has 9 members??), but also because especially at the beginning, they were somewhat candid about the fact that they weren't all "buddies", and as such, dissention amongst the group has always been imminent at least on some level, and that dissention still continues today, including the recent firing of Jay.
I believe Joey is (rightly) regarded as one of the best drummers of all time, especially in the metal genre. He truly was one of a kind, and his talent unparalleled. Another legend gone far too soon. Rest easy, #1. The maggots love and miss you. ❤
“He had someone in mind when he wrote this!”
Me thinking: wait til he hears Disaesterpiece
😂❤
LMAO REAL
Funny story. My husband is from England and the first ever album he pre-ordered (when he was 12) was Slipknot's Iowa Album. He thought Iowa was the type of goat on the cover. Now he's been living in Iowa with me for the last, almost, 15 years ❤
Iowa is their best album imo. It's also their heaviest.
Metal is the greatest bond. Hope you guys have many years together.🤘
@@MisterHades666 thank you and it really is! It's honestly what we bonded over first back in 2003. We've been together for almost 18 years now and they just keep getting better!
Lovely cute coincidence
RIP Joey Jordinson... there will never be another drummer.
The reaction to the song ending was brilliant 😂I've never heard anyone go "No! What the.. FUCK OFF! It's not long enough!" 🤣
You are now one of THE MAGGOTS! Loved this reaction Slipknot is so so good!
🦀 Watching you react physically to the music is my absolute favorite thing. I’d bet it does that to nearly everyone but watching it manifest is excellent. AND you notice the little things in his vocals like the anger-build-up to the word “spit” at the end. That’s a first I’ve not seen anyone catch (or care about maybe). Keep at at friend 🤘🤘
If you love Joey’s drumming, there’s a great drum cam for their song "Disasterpiece" you may be interested in
Hey man! Taking slipknot to another level, check out “eyeless” off the self titled album (same as spit it out) and “vermillion” from the album “Vol.3” (same as duality)
Two massive songs that are on the two opposite sides of the slipknot spectrum 😁 enjoy diving into this band mate!
Bro, you gotta go for "I Prevail". This Band is so amazing. They helped me get through my depression. I'd recommand the songs "Gasoline", "Breaking down", "Body Bag", "Bow down" and "Self-Destruction". (For every one exept "Breaking down" you'll need a lyrics video or stuff like that, but it's so worth it)
I’m a sucker for hurricane
Bow down and Gasoline for sure
yeah gasoline is great along with the long video.
He ain't ready 😂 them and some beartooth 😮
Bow down :)
HE DOES AN ACOUSTIC VERSION... it is fking amazing
Theres a song called eeyore in this album targeted at someone nicknamed Thor who used to shove everyone around in the crowd and one day everyone got him back it’s such an amazing song
Dick in the pit
"Spit It Out" by Slipknot is often interpreted as a song about frustration and the band's struggle for recognition. It doesn't specifically target an individual but expresses a more general sentiment.
You should really check out their live performances on video! It’s insane!
+1 on this!!! Watch the live version... You will go crazy over the drums
So much good music in every genre. I love seeing people finding new things
Got a few recommendations for you...
Sleep Token - The Summoning
Rammstein - Du Hast (Watch the live version from Paris)
oh, and if you feel like having a Floorgasm, watch Nightwish - Ghost Love Score
the summoning for sure
Oh I’d love to see the reaction to sleep token. If you watched the nik nocturnal awards they won pretty much everything. Best album of the year by a mile.
@@LiamScrancher we love nik here
Can confirm on the last one.
This has been so fun! You need to see some live videos and drum cam videos to learn the difference between Joey and Jay. Lots to learn. It only gets better! Let’s go!
It was a spat about 2 rival local radio stations that were reluctant to play their music
...you are a metal head... For sure. No doubt! I hope I get to see your reaction to your first metal concert as well man. Do t worry about recording the whole experience at the concert. Just go enjoy the show, and then record how you feel about it after the fact!
This video is the exact reason I watch reactions videos.
Yes!!! I’m just loving this moment with ya!
Great reaction man, I think we are all loving the physicality of your reactions and the journey you're undertaking with metal in general.
🦀 this is my favourite Slipknot song. I'm glad you enjoyed it and your slip'n'slide adventure into rock and metal 🤘😎🤘💚🤍
From their best album
You should watch the live version at Download Festival at 2009 if this wasn't long enough. Insane live!
Love this metal journey! You'd love 'Eyeless' (also the live one at Dynamo from 2000), 'Wait and Bleed', 'People = Shit' (also the live from London version from 2002), 'The Herectic Anthem' (Live 2002. They also performed it on the Late Night with Conan O'Brian show in 2001, which is their most brutal live performance to me, it's awesome!) and 'Disasterpiece' (live 2002). If you do get around to these, then there's a drum cam vid of Joey Jordison RIP :( for the 2002 concert, that will blow your mind! Much love! 🤘💚
Now you need to react to this live from download 2009 to see what a Slipknot concert is
facts!
Studio VS live is so different with many artists, but LIVE 09 @DOWNLOAD IS a MUST! That’s what it’s about!!!!!
why do you alwayts suggest the same video across 100s of channels? so boring, watch disasterpieces. prime era.
@@vinnytamburello2471facts! Like I can't even listen to the studio version of domination by Pantera any more
i just love how much you enjoy slipknot
EXCELLENT reactions!!!!!
This has been and will forever be my favorite song. ❤️
Slipknot is my all time favorite band, but I’ve taken somewhat of a break from listening to them recently. Seeing you react to their music has brought them back into my playlist, I almost forgot how much I love their music and the energy they give me.
Their newest album is next level to me, some people say it’s too far away from their original style…but they are wrong. Progression is what keeps bands relevant, and slipknot has been relevant for well over 20 years now.
I can’t wait to see you react to Nero Forte, Solway Firth & Unsainted.
Proper reaction my guy 🤘🏻
Love your reactions , so energetic. You're awesome 👌
Awesome reaction bro I just love how much you got into the song hahah
I listen to this when I play matches at billiards/pool tournaments. Gets me fired up!
Was waiting for this one!!
Got another band to blow your mind - Bloodywood - Indian folk metal. With a rapper as well as a screamer. If you want to start with one leaning more Indian, start with Gaddaar, mind blowing fusion go with Aaj, and brutal go with Dana Dan (put the closed captions on for that one. They always have translated lyrics on, you just have to turn them in for that one due to the lyrics
Hell yeah! They're awesome! I've only heard two songs from them but they have some talent!
By far my favorite reactor!
Its a NEXT LEVEL DIS TRACK!
Quick note, Corey is a huge fan of Tech N9ne, and Tech N9ne of Slipknot, so Corey knows his rap cadences and syllables
Been waiting on this one ☝🏽
He is speaking to the media that tried to say that slipknot was never gonna make it. If you’ve got something to say about my band the spit it out.
Dude!! I literally had to wait till I was back in my hotel room to watch this! Been waiting for it
Your should deep dive this whole first album, you'll love it. That song is short bit the whole album should be played in order.
Seconding this, even if he doesn't do it in front of a camera. You can visit the discog, but there is _nothing_ like the debut album out there.
Oh, dude, Corey’s a genius when it comes to lyricism. He’s got so much talent. Check out his song “CMFT Must Be Stopped,” featuring Kid Bookie and Tech N9ne or his feature on a Tech N9ne song called “Wither.” I feel like you might dig those.
You have to listen to Disasterpiece, they're label at the time demanded them to make a soft song for the radio and that's the song they sent them. Absolutely legendary.
🦀🦀😂 another epic reaction!
Highly recommending Mudvayne - Dig. Also, please check out his solo acoustic version of this song. It's actually pretty funny. 🤘🔥🤘
Love this song🎉
Those drums are the greatest metal drummer himself, RIP Joey Jordison 🔥
🦀
🦀 hopping right to the live now and can’t wait to see your reaction 😃
You say it's not long enough. Listen to the album straight. Joey jorddison is the Drummer. Absolute Savage!
My friend you are indeed now a metalhead with a reaction like that.
I'm so happy you went back to their older songs they always added those little sounds and breakdowns that were so fckn dope. Try eyeless or surfacing
Ahh, good old slipknot, still got my patches from every concert I went to with them. 20 years later, they have been sewn into my riding jacket.
Welcome maggot!
1995 slipknot first radio success was from this same album. The song was Wait and Bleed. That's where it really started. For the masses not living in Iowa anyway. Go listen to wait and bleed. Then go from there...
You really need to react to eyeless ive heard the song tens of hundreds of times but I still rewind the beginning just bcz of how mindblowing joey did the drumming (rip to the legend) and yes their mvs are visually terrifying even for me a blood in metal fan. I LOVE THIS JOURNEYY AAAAA AND LOVE UUUU
There was the main drummer. But two other guy's were custom percussionists
Every song from self titled album is epic, hope to see you react to some more. Joey Jordison was the drummer on this.
My favorite band 😍🤘🏼🔥
I love your reactions, and this is by far the best one. I was re-living the hype with you 🤣🤣
I think this man is ready for the crazy test
🦀 great tune and an honest reaction
yeah bro youre gonna wanna react to the live version of this at download festival where it showcases their fun they have with this song. You said theres gotta be a reason for him repeating spit with all the reverb. There is :P Edit: haha just saw the other one XD Nice job
"the drums"... "MEH!" 🤣 LMFAO!!!! 8:16
My exact reaction 😂
The devil in i has some amazing shifts in Corey's vocal talents 🙌 its also one of their most graphic videos and im shocked its still allowed on youtube 😅 but its a great song, you should check it out
Slipknot is such an interesting milestone for metal. For as filthy (literally and figuratively) as they get in their sound and lyrics, it's so wild to me that they managed to become so well known in pop culture. A part of their notoriety came from the novelty of what they do, but man, this band played late night shows, got a grammy, played in a movie, headlines a wholeass festival, and are considered legends in the metal industry. Meanwhile their songs are just covered in fuckin dirt, sweat, piss, blood, mud, and rust.
Not Teddy slowly realizing this is a diss rap with some metal thrown in.
@TeddyGreyOnStuff Corey's son, Griff has a band called Vended. Went to the av7 concert at pinnacle arena and they opened. Smashed and melted my face.
definitely check out the band While She Sleeps and definitely their song Silence Speaks 👍 loving your reaction vids and your discovery of Metal music
for drums you should definetly listen to Eyeless from the same album. Joey went ham on those drums there!
RIP Jordy Jordanson
Yo Teddy just recently got into your channel your reactions are priceless! 😂 You should totally do Dead Memories, completely different to what you've heard by slipknot so far. Also they're playing Leeds in December as you said you'd like to experience them live (it will be something you'll never forget)
"I'll smear ya" as in "I'll smear ya on the pavement"
In other words, "you're just going to be a stain on the ground when im done with you"
This song is a dis track to the band Finger Eleven. They are from the same area and Finger eleven did a song about them
i keep saying until u see this, that you have a natural talent for screaming. you should do something with it
my suggestion is to react also their performance video.
it will fckn blow your mind.
btw you are by far the best reactor.
i had same reaction when i 1st hear them too.
happy to see someone who share what i felt.
Cannot wait to see what rock you react to in 2024 🎉. You don’t be disappointed 🤘🏼
You need to hear Eyless!
I miss Joey so much, slipknot has not been the same without him, only artist that has passed away that I’ve cried for💔
do more songs from this album!
They actually had cameras on Joey Jordanian, the drummer and posted those videos on you tube. Just look up Joey Jordan's drum cam
Thanks
The Nameless!!!
🦀came for the skz content at the very start of it. Now I'm so excited to see you react to a genre of music that has shaped my life since childhood!!
Brother I know rap has its own feel and vibe. Metal does too. You'd be welcome in the pit because you *feel* it.
If your looking for more of a louder slipknot song I would recommend "get this"! One of my favorites would love to see u react to it!!
If you want more bro you've gotta get stuck into the whole album. Liberate, Eyeless and (sic) in particular
I am a fan of rap and hiphop first and foremost. That said damn right I got slipknot tattooed from one shoulder blade to the other.
Please please please continue on this metal train. I trust your audience to guide you. They've done great so far.
And Joey jordison was the drummer during this time
RIP
I believe this was written about an old radio station from Iowa that used to talk a lot of shit about Slipknot on air when they first came out. If I remember correctly, Slipknot released this song and within a month it was on regular rotation at the same station
Lovin' the journey Mate! 💩
Now you have to wathc the live one at Download Festival! Your mind won't survive!!
The lyrics say fuck me I'm all out of "enemas" 😂
You mentioned at the end about the masks changing. I remember a few years ago an interview where Corey Taylor had said something about the Masks being a visual representation of each band members mindset at the time of writing each album. In a way the masks are just as much a part of an album as the music is
I recommend one of his heaviest songs from his first albums, it's called "Left Behind", Corey screams even louder than in this song xdd
Some things that you should check out:
This or the apocalypse- subverse
Oceans ate Alaska - metamorph
Wage war - low or the river
Erra - electric twilight or nigh to silence
Killswitch engage - the end of heartache
All that remains - six
Love your enthusiasm and excitement about metal music, keep up the awesome reactions
Oh yeah let's GOoooooooo!!
🦀 Corey is one of a kind! He’s f*cking funny too! Also, one of the nicest men in rock and he’s had a hell of a life! Just dive into him, the dude is so talented, between Slipknot, Stone Sour and his solo stuff, the guy is just 😚👌
More slipknot bro!!! Eyeless 👁️ Disasterpiece ☠️
Corey is a massive (I mean HUGE) fan of British comedy and culture, is a massive Dr Who fan also, hence 'tit', 'piss and vinegar' type references.
He was on QI with Stephen Fry, was really amusing and intelligent
When Slipknot did a Radio One 'Lounge Session' thing he got to tour the Dr Who set, and he ended up using his scream as a voice effect for an alien (fun facts with Robo!)
All true stuff, look it up!
They love playing here, Download especially. Going to see them in Manchester Dec 2024 (again!)
PS - now watch it live at Download 2009...
