  • Those of you new to our channel; out of my 25 years of military service, most of that was behind a Sniper Rifle. So, when we first started this UA-cam channel, deciding on a name, I told the film crew I was more of a rifleman than a pistol guy. Also, while I occasionally shot competitively, I wanted the channel to focus on tactical shooting. So, the film crew said “Tactical Rifleman?” Sure, whatever, I’m busy… was my reply and the birth of this monstrosity.
    The “tactical” portion still stands true, in that, when I see people shooting competitions, I would prefer they focus on “combat” skills if they are going to act like they are warfighters.
    I am no longer a warfighter. My time has past. However, we still teach the next generation of warfighters, military & law enforcement, and concerned citizens wanting to become capable citizens.
    Train as you plan to Fight.
    Want to get better at Tactical Precision Rifle? That starts with training, and training starts with good equipment; like the great rifle chassis you can get at KRG.
    There’s a reason why all the pros turn to KRG..,
    They make some of the best Precision rifle chassis and accessories
    -Veteran owned & operated
    -100% made in USA
    -They focus on comfortable ergonomics and modularity
    -inlets for Remington 700, Tikka T3, Howa, Ruger American, Savage, and others.
    -Their main line of general purpose chassis (Whiskey-3, X-Ray, & Bravo) can be configured to your requirements, whether it be hunting, competition, tactical, or just having fun on the range
    -They also offer the C-4, which is their purpose built competition model, as well as a handful of rimfire specific options
    -KRG strives to offer the highest level of quality, ergonomics, and useful features for all price points

    Thanks Karl! Plus the competition guys often train with heavy rifles and lightweight 6 mm projectiles with little or no recoil.

      If I had any say, those same 6mm projectiles would be in inventory for sniping too 😅

      They train how they compete. Each discipline has it's own nuances and they train accordingly. Those who are interested in tactical shooting need to train accordingly as well 👍

    I have a unique shooting range of several acres off the back deck in the hilly back country, I practice shooting weeds and small Hawthornes growing, they are small, at different ranges and move in the wind and offten hard to see, some Have flowers on top that go poof when hit. Nature's targets they always grow back .if one can consider your environment as targets of opportunities.
    Your videos are very much appreciated, no nonsense and straight to the point 👌

    If you can’t lay in the mud for 3 days straight waiting for a perfect shot while bugs and spiders crawl up your butt cheeks- then SNIPING ain’t for you.

      False.
      That's Hollywood and rumor mill bull-crap.
      Any trained sniper that has a sliver of experience knows to wear pantyhose over their skin. The pantyhose is treated with repellent.
      Anyone that's been through the school knows the pantyhose makes the difference between being eaten alive by fire ants and doing the dancing chicken.

      Military sniping, I'll bet. One can "snipe" just like one has gone hunting for years as well, and done in hours.

    • @Tiebox
      @Tiebox 11 днів тому

      @@sword-and-shield hunting is not sniping. If you haven't been to school, you're never going to understand why. 99% of people that think they know anything about sniping don't even know what a gd ffp is until they google it. And then they have to google how to properly recon on a ffp. Then they find out IOT properly recon, they find out they need to be able to use a map, compass and protractor. Once they read that, they look at a map and don't know how to properly convert grid to magnetic.
      Bottom line, you're NEVER going to be a sniper unless you've (AT LEAST) been through the training for it. Even then, NOBODY is a good sniper without a good spotter by their side, period, not debatable.
      There's a lot more to being a sniper than shooting. That is not even 1% of it.
      So many civilian morons that think they know what they are talking about but they don't even know how to estimate range and basic wind values.
      Lord...

      @sword-and-shield 11 днів тому

      @@Tiebox I didn't say hunting was sniping, try a re read. I said one can snipe in the same time frame that one has hunted. The post, was to reflect the notion you put forth as more a military notion, not the only application for sniping, and clearly not some bs requirement to do it. Most of the other rant you make, is more or less true, but not applicable to me, because I have had the training, have shot in sniper comps with ex military and leo snipers, only to 1k tho.
      Regardless, none of it is needed to "Snipe" someone. In fact some 15yr old kid that has built good marksman skills from hunting since they were 10, lets say, could snipe someone from a blind with a scope, because of one of the various bs scenarios that could happen people spew on about, ain't gotta be laying down, aint gotta be dealing with bugs up the ass, aint gotta be dealing with some bs military application to get it done. Also this is in no way in disrespect to yours or anyone's service in that regard, just the bs terminology you laid out as some qualifier for it ALL.

    After you master the basic of detecting wind direction, calling your wind and shooting past 500 meters, go jackal hunting without wind meters and electronic calls or bait. Everything gets even more challenging after they've been under hunting pressure for 2-3 weeks.

    And this is why all our unknown distance targets here at Gunsite are camo painted and in natural terrain. We sometimes get complaints on the after class review forms that the targets were hard to find and range. Welcome to the real world. A huge part of the class is observation. You need to locate the targets, convey that location to the shooter, range it, call wind, observe trace and call corrections then log the results. Easy is not a word I would use to describe the process.

    So fricken true, that last stress test at the pistol/carbine class in NC my biggest issue wasn’t shooting through the different positions in the barricades (for a change) it was not being able to see the black steel target against the dirt berm in the pouring rain! I’ve got to do more of this type of training!!

    QUESTION for Karl, or anyone else with experience. I just watched this video with a SWAT team headshoting a hostage taker through a computer monitor. I wonder if that was a mistake by the sniper if he didn't account for the sight offset because of the close distance and was holding the crosshair just above the monitor forgetting that the bullet would go under. Would they really intentionally risk that potential of bullet deflection having hostages heads on either side of him that close. A grass straw could deflect a .308, perhaps not enough to make a difference at that short distance of a travel, but a freaking pc monitor!!? Isn't that more than enough to shift the impact a feet in any direction from the intended target. You can fast forward to 3:45 to get a feel for the area and the distance. I feel bad to even question if they did anything wrong, but the alternative is that they knew it wouldn't deflect and then the question becomes: How can they possibly judge that with 100% certainty? Anyone else here that wonders the same? I'm so curious to hear what our in house sniper has to say :) ua-cam.com/video/cs7zkTCJqqE/v-deo.html
