What helped The United States is that World War II took place in Europe. That is not hard to figure out. Yes incentivizing/rewarding soldiers with the GI bill is great. Certainly extent of the destruction WWII caused in Europe enabled the US to become dominant superpower.

The Lehigh Valley - which is where this Town Hall took place - is in the middle of the Alabama section of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ... which is pretty much every part of the state other than Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. They are mostly white, blue collar workers and union folk who've gotten the shaft by both the Republican and establishment Democratic Parties. They woke now.
