Or I guess it's not as current as the Yemen one, but considering he supports intervention in Syria I have NO IDEA how he could in any way consider himself antiwar. And yes, he did have a good reason to support the Iraq Liberation Act, 2 reasons in fact 1) A democrat was president 2) It was a resolution If you continue to look at his record the reason he voted against the war in Iraq during the Bush era was because he wanted a MULTILATERAL approach rather than a UNILATERAL approach to intervention in Iraq, he never apposed the act of regime change itself. The main contention that the Democrats who voted against Bush era intervention had was only the two factors of 1) A Repulican was president and 2) It was unilateral. Regardless the Iraq Liberation act was utilized as precedent for the war in Iraq, so he does bear some responsibility for it. Also the Iraq Liberation Act wasn't even that far back, especially considering that Bernie has been 100% CONSISTENT with ALL OF HIS POLICIES since he started his political career. Whether they're good or bad, idk. He even supported Medicare for All over 30 years ago. But that's not my contention, my contention is with his foreign policy and his dishonesty that he shows about it. The only antiwar stance that I can see of his is voting against military budget increases usually, but that's because he wants to divert the budget into domestic policy regarding entitlements and the social safety net. He actually supports the military industrial complex through his support of the trillion dollar Lockheed martin contract. I am a Californian living in France. Sen. Sanders' description of 'Medicare for All' is exactly how it works in France. Never the slightest worry about health care or prescription drugs that are paid for with my health care card. I go to any doctor that I choose and I give them my health card. I go to the pharmacy of my choice and I give them my card. It's as simple as that. There is a percentage of each pay check that is deducted for the health care system. As simple as that. If anyone tried to change this system, the French people would burn down the Senate building…
Eric Schultz as a german i must add myself to that. Of course a certain percent of your income is spent on medicare, but for example i just came from the cardiologist for a minor inconvenience and checkup and it cost me zero. I can‘t imagine having to calculate the pain of either having a serious illness or going to the doctor‘s against each other and see what the lesser evil is. Life is good.
As a British citizen and a Socialist. The way our system traditionally worked was that all health care was publically funded. Now in 1949 a year after the NHS (single payer healthcare) was introduced we had a split within the Labour party between Bevanites (Socialists) and the right wing of the party (made up of primarily social democrats) now this was when Austerity was introduced. What the Labour government did was removed free dental, free opticians and free prescriptions. This meant the the doctors and the hospitals were still publically funded. There is regulation which limits the cost but what most British people would prefer to do is pay more into their national insurance to get prescription charges removed (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland already have done so) and they wish to pay more tax to get rid of dental costs. I complain about the price it is for me to get mirtazipine (£9.99) and for a check up to cost (£21.99 when healthy) Now I am applying for a exemption for low income which essentially makes it so I don't need to pay when I go to the chemists or the dentists. My point although I got side tracked is that it is so cheap in the UK compared to America and that is unfair. What Bernie says on the health care issue is brilliant because as far as I can tell its not going to be like France, Germany or the UK in the sense there is a national service provider but it is a step on the right track
That's good but America is vast. Socialism takes away your capitalism right to earn your worth. You can't be independently creative as socialism takes it away. Every country that has practiced socialism has failed. If you are ready to share your individual, unique right to be the awesome person you are then go ahead and go socialist. Money will run out and people will be scrambling for food, etc. Alexander the Great once said: “I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion.” Socialism always says: You didn't earn that. @@Carl_Jr I think criticizing anyone for donating to charity is silly, even if they donate $1 or 0.0001%. Having said that, though, in your example, I'd definitely say Betty is more generous. @@imamoronand9199 If you make money by writing a book, you're not really owning any substantial means of production there on a scale required for that definition to matter.
@@imamoronand9199 You own a computer, which is a means of production, but 1. it's within the affordability range of the average person in developed world circumstances. 2. Public libraries grant access for free, and pen and paper are not expensive. Which both lead to this argument; while you could technically classify it as means of production, brevity means we have to limit detail, and what we're technically talking about is _costly_ means of production. The difference between capitalistic and pre-capitalist societies is that in pre-capitalist societies the means of production were within the affordability range of a working person, meaning each individual could, with a very small crew complement, obtain and use those means of production to earn a living. This is not possible for every working person in a capitalist society. In a capitalist system, the means of production are owned by an entity that is NOT those people (the people who work, the working class), but instead by the people who earn money without contributing anything, or contributing things, ones that can't be avoided due to scarcity, at outrageously high prices. Money represents contribution to society. Some people own stocks, homes and other types of physical property. Those people do not contribute their fair share. Landlords, for example, contribute something, but ultimately ALWAYS for a higher cost than the tenant could solve the issue by themselves, see my point about prices above. Someone merely owning stocks, maybe even inheriting them, is contributing nothing to society and receiving something from society. *This is the ethical dilemma we're discussing.* In this scenario, you created the *intellectual* property of the book's content, so you get credit for that via royalties because each time that book is reproduced, some of the value is from the creation of the book itself (the *physical property*) and some is from that book containing the intellectual property. In this sense, your means of production is actually not even the computer, but your mind. You aren't being paid for the creation of a book (a physical object), your are being paid for creating something valuable (the intellectual property) that (a copy of which) is then added to a book, which is the only way by which your economic contribution can be measured. In a sense when you buy a book, you are buying the empty book (which is paid to the people printing it, the publishers etc.), and access to the text itself (which is paid to the writer). You contributed something (a valuable text), and now you get paid for that in proportion to that text's value. If there was some other way (e.g. some Objective And Completely UnArbitrary Commitee could measure the book's objective value and repay you), then sure, there'd be no issue in just giving you that money and then removing your copyright and trademark. Creating a business, on the other hand, is valuable _to a degree._ You took a risk and invested money, sure, but no businessowner can claim that they alone are the reason for them owning billions. You have not contributed billions to the economy alone. We know this because you are a human being, and unless you made a major scientific discovery that *couldn't have been done without you specifically* or something to that effect, you have merely been a good administrator, a power multiplier, but not someone who couldn't have been replaced by someone else. So, you didn't come up with a particularly unique invention. You just happened to create it first and administrate well, and while that does deserve a spectacular reward, we're overestimating the worth of that. That's my two cents on the idea from a socialist viewpoint. I'm pragmatically a Nordic Model Capitalist, which is more of what Bernie is in reality and practice, even if less so in his rhetoric. The idea there is not to eliminate capitalism in a large part, not to mention completely, but to instead add new rules to the game so that it becomes more fair. But hey, I'm just a guy who might have zero clue about anything, so those are just my thoughts. Keep learning, keep an open mind. I've done that for a long time now, and I'm just getting started.

Edit: It took 3+ years of a shitty presidency, but they finally had to get leaked. And the dumber part is that he's calling it fake, when, if that's true, he could just prove that claim by releasing his actual taxes
Why? If he thinks the money can be used better by the government to help the needy (rather than leaving it to its earners to reinvest as they please), why would he not give it to the government?
@@bb8328 What other means are available to rich people to legally give money to the government besides taxation and which does not come across as trying to buy influence ?

It’s like saying “Trump says he supports building the wall, but he isn’t personally placing the bricks so he’s a liar” it doesn’t make any sense. Secondly, Bernie isn’t just fighting to raise taxes, he’s fighting for better USES of those taxes. Giving money to the government right now would be giving money to a system that, in Mr. Sanders’ view, is inefficient and is spending in the wrong places.
I don't see how anyone thinks Burnie won. Two torpedoes in Burnie's logic is the giant husk of a class-C steel corporation behind him, which was driven out by the formerly highest corporate tax in the world, and the jobs your asking for can only come from big business that don't make it so that you form a sole proprietorship or partnership business like the vast majority of businesses these days - meaning you have to know how to run a business, location, taxes, how to market your product, and furthermore have a product to market in the first place, which if it doesn't come from one of the big businesses with you as a salesman will usually is online. The second being that we spend among the top first world nations per student capita in our public education system, but we not only get students that learn less, they get worse grades on a course curriculum that's lower than other nations. To begin with the original purpose of primary education was to make the population capable in all fields for work in the day. It was meant as an uplifting economic benefit, with moral and calculated advantage - and is failing fantastically (Betsy DeVos is a step in the right direction but their's still a lot of work to do). Now Burnie wants the Feds to take over higher education. I guarantee UCA and other Ivy League colleges and universities won't like when the feds start cutting unnecessary things like their own libraries versus public libraries and to suck the heck up for the sake of affordable education. It'll be like giant community colleges. Isn't that great?

The Iraq liberation act isn't the only thing, he's also blowing the Trumpets about Assad, AKA THE CURRENT CONFLICT. Or I guess it's not as current as the Yemen one, but considering he supports intervention in Syria I have NO IDEA how he could in any way consider himself antiwar. And yes, he did have a good reason to support the Iraq Liberation Act, 2 reasons in fact
1) A democrat was president
2) It was a resolution
If you continue to look at his record the reason he voted against the war in Iraq during the Bush era was because he wanted a MULTILATERAL approach rather than a UNILATERAL approach to intervention in Iraq, he never apposed the act of regime change itself.

Because they can relate to the need.
There are studies about the relationship between wealth and empathy... its really eye-opening and sad.
The poorer someone is, the more empathy they tend to have. And the wealthier someone is, the less empathy they tend to have
My clients are wealthy. At Christmas it's clear; small tips or regifts from the billionaires, large cash gifts from the least wealthy, notably those that actually work for their money are the most generous with their money.
Do your claims take percentages into account? Or strictly based on total dollars? E.G. Betty makes $50k/yr and donates $500 to charity. Martha makes $500k/yr and donates $4000 to charity. Even though Betty gave 1% of her gross income and Martha gave less than 1% of hers, the total is 8 times more than what Betty gave. People are going to criticise Martha for that?
@@Carl_Jr I think criticizing anyone for donating to charity is silly, even if they donate $1 or 0.0001%.
Having said that, though, in your example, I'd definitely say Betty is more generous. Especially because she probably had to make a choice between charity and buying something she wants, whereas the one who made $500k probably can do both (or the choice is a little easier, at least), even while donating $4,000. But 4,000 is definitely a lot, no doubt.
Wow, I'm watching FOX....this is how much I love you Bernie!!
Fox knows this moron will not win the primary,
Capitalism is not defined as "earning money", capitalism is defined more or less as the private ownership of the means of production.
I.e. making money
@@imamoronand9199 If you make money by writing a book, you're not really owning any substantial means of production there on a scale required for that definition to matter.
Joni Leppänen
you’re owning the means to produce that book, via copyright.
@@imamoronand9199
You own a computer, which is a means of production, but
1. it's within the affordability range of the average person in developed world circumstances.
*This is the ethical dilemma we're discussing.*
In this scenario, you created the *intellectual* property of the book's content, so you get credit for that via royalties because each time that book is reproduced, some of the value is from the creation of the book itself (the *physical property*) and some is from that book containing the intellectual property.

This is a good leader, this is the president people from US of America deserve.
No, he is definitely not. Trump 2020 !!
@OnWingsOfHope Yes, but clearly there are three candidates that seem to stand alongside the people far more. Andrew Yang, Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard. That is more important than beating Trump in my opinion, simply because if any of these 3 have to oppose Trump, Trump won't even be close to winning. Once the Democratic Establishment is eliminated from the competition, you all of a sudden have the ability to finally change this country for the better, and bring the US what has been promised for decades.
@@augustreil Since you're a supporter, tell me what Trump is gonna do with those 60 companies/corporations that paid zero in federal taxes but still get millions in tax refunds?
higglyjuff full disclosure I’m republican and don’t agree with Bernie but do you honestly think that if Bernie or any other candidate you name was to be elected that they would make changes for the better and bring what this country has been promised for decades? Time and time again we see candidates promise stuff and hardly follow through, Obama was supposed to bring in change but it didn’t really happen, trump was supposed to build a wall and focus on border issues but it didn’t really happen. No president democrat or republican gets to enforce the changes they campaign on because there are people on both sides of the isle in Congress that block the president from doing stuff they oppose just as the democrats blocked trumps wall I believe the republicans will block Bernie’s healthcare. We haven’t seen a president come in and follow through on all their campaign promises in decades or even ever possibly so what makes the three candidates you named any different?
You don't need a leader, you need a good politician, someone who serves the polis, not him/ herself. In that he seems to have a good track record.
He’s smart, everything he said is what Australia (my counrty) has and Medicare works well here, if I was American I would vote for him 👍

This public want to hear a debate about REAL issues. They seemed starved for an intelligent conversation. Health care, living wage, dignity, future perspective. I thank FOX for providing this forum.
Yes. Dem or Repub. these are the issues that ALL AMERICANS face and want addressed. I'm a Democrat. I'm over the Mueller Investigation, I've been way over the election that happened 2.5 years ago now, but CNN and MSNBC aren't letting those things go. They don't focus on the issues like how Sanders does. They don't want their viewers to realize that the issue isn't other Americans who may have a differing political opinion from you; it's that they want to divide and conquer our country for their own pockets. It's as simple as that. Fox, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, etc. are all guilty of trying to turn Americans against themselves to benefit their respective parent corporations.

Sanders' message can be summarized neatly: human beings are interconnected, and politics should reflect this.
