What a none statement. EVERYBODY can only do things to the best of their ability. In a race, the last guy runs to the best of their ability. How about comment about the ability itself? How good a runner is last place? In the end you said he did well, but why start with what amounts to "A for effort" which is usually used to describe, say that last place runner? You basically said "well, he tried"

Among them I spotted somebody with a Bernie T-shirt under her sweater, but to say it was packed with Bernie supporters doesn't make any sense. Why would Fox News do that? To make Bernie look good? The audience was not FOX audience but it has fair amount of straight on Bernie supporters. So those shouts you hear are NOT coming from typical FOX viewers. It was more like 50/50 crowd and those are the ones cheering. World did not turn on its head. Why FOX did it this way? I don't know, they can claim to be fair and balanced for the rest of the election cycle while left wing media HAS to take GoP bullshit. I guess that is their plan.

@ David Pakman, I really like the point you made about the foreign policy question, that our "enemies" are playground politics, though I don't think Bernie actually fumbled it. You and all of us viewing after the fact have an opportunity to frame a reply based on someone's previous reply, with notes, and that luxury of time. Bernie answered in real time, without notes, and got to the larger issue of Climate Change, within less than a minute, without appearing pacifist. My opinion is that Bernie has a better view of the challenges facing the nation, how to effectively use the presidency to confront and work to solve those challenges than any other candidate out there. Bernie also recognizes where he has deficiencies and is not afraid of seeking, and attracting, the advisors / potential cabinet to truly bring the best and brightest to the most important tasks at hand. You would make an outstanding press secretary for Bernie!

Christy Ann ; ) Thanks for the vote but I lack the optics having lived and worked outside the USA for the last 20 years. However that vantage point, largely away from the superficiality of domestic media permits me the luxury of praise or critique without retribution in my everyday life. The abuse of each other today has become ridiculous, largely stoked by 1 individual, or individual #1, who is in a permanent state of rage, poorly expressed, but propagated all too successfully amongst his cult. Is it any wonder my returns are brief? Let us hope sanity prevails in 2020. BTW these last 20 years abroad I voted in every election by absentee ballot. Vote!

That's just a BS non-point that right wingers like to throw out, thinking it's some kind of irrefutable argument against them having to pay taxes. From Form 1040 Instructions:
"How Do You Make a Gift To Reduce Debt Held By the Public?
If you wish to do so, make a check payable to “Bureau of the Fiscal Service.” You can send it to: Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Attn: Dept G, P.O. Box 2188, Parkersburg, WV 26106-2188. Bernie answered the question He made a very good point on the fact that we are over protecting ourselves from the countries we also invest in. He then transitioned into climate change. this was a wonderful answer because instead of avoiding the question which is what it seemed like Your answer Would have come off as, he provided a good explanation for his ideas then brought in his next subject.

If he does get his way his income past 250k will be taxed at 52%. What your asking of him is to "lead by example" is exactly what will happen if his policy is passed.

Dan Trebune I understand the point you’re trying to make, my dude, but Sanders is a guy who’s putting his money where his mouth is, so to speak. Idk about the numbers you’re putting out (ie whether you’re talking marginal rates, effective rates, whatever), but for the sake of argument I’ll accept em all as true.
If the hostess is asking why he’s not volunteering half of his income, I think we can agree that even if he did, it wouldn’t do anything to fix the problems with the system that rig things in favor of the rich at the expense of the people who work for a living and the poor. The only way big problems get fixed is through big solutions; if you’re in the working class, then you know damn well that you can’t go buy a politician to pass laws you like on your own. We have to wake up and see that all the wealth the 1% has hoarded was taken at our expense, we can’t fight them individually through our economic power, but we CAN organize and vote people into office who are serious about repairing the damage the rich have done to our society.
Bernie released 10yrs of tax returns; he’s a millionaire. What I see in him is a person who REALLY BELIEVES what he’s saying, because even though he as a wealthy person would be taking a much higher tax rate if his policies were enacted, he still fights for them. He’s been consistent with his positions for decades; he’s not just an opportunist, he’s built his career on fighting for these policies.
He’s a guy who’s willing to promote policies that will end up taking a lot of his money because he believes it’s so important. In this era of greed and wealth disparity, that says a lot to me.

I'm glad to see Bernie addressing misconceptions and misrepresentations that are critical, but far to often lost in agenda, or in simplifying things to a fault. Like reminding people 5hat the suggestion for the healthcare model financing is not just "paying more taxes" - you would no longer pay those insurance premiums. Like how Israel is a country, not a religion - its people "are Israelites, not Jews", and the Israeli government is not Judaism. In the uk we treat sick people young and old no cost but if they want special treatment they can get it if they can afford it or get insurance by *their own choice*. It allows voters to know the voting history of said politician, how consistent they are, and it means they're experienced enough to be competent in their position and get legislation passed. The bad comes in when they use their position as a money generating job rather than a public service job. We got Trump when people took the same mentality of anti career politicians so i wouldn't base my vote on that.
