"Fox News’ late-afternoon opinion roundtable show The Five imploded on Wednesday when liberal co-host Juan Williams pointed out that folks in conservative media, including his colleagues, appeared to be peddling the White House’s talking points on the Ukrainian call memo.
Amid Wednesday’s release of a memo detailing Trump’s now-infamous July 25 call in which Trump asked the Ukrainian president to “do us a favor” and investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, the White House sent out talking points to its allies to combat negative press coverage. Inadvertently, the administration also sent the document to some House Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi."*

As for the First Amendment card, I could see a point for holding a journalistic organisation to higher standards than the average schmuck (one could argue that knowingly spreading bullshit is tantamount to shouting "fire" in a crowded theater, when one is a major news organisation), so their lawyers probably felt that the "we're just entertainers, not actual journalists" approach was less likely to blow up in their face.
Oh I do not think Trump would like what we say about him here in Norway. Maybe about 90% of the people over here are wondering what you Americans are doing having this guy as the President. Many of us are baffled that he has not yet been removed from office as well. But also many off us in Norway can see that Trump will win again in 2020.

It's fine to be a conservative, be against liberal ideology, and specious attacks against the president you support. But it is anti-American to defend a president for asking a foreign government to dig up political dirt on your political rival, especially while holding back military and foreign aid they desperately need, reminding them how much your country has done for them and telling them you need a "favor". Clearly trump's team understood this was a problem and tried to hide the evidence. This is not a close call. Trump needs to be held to account for this, and his defenders should be ashamed of themselves.

Nah.... these funds aren't obligated under contract or otherwise. They're a 'gift' or donation. The recipient isn't entitled to them nor are they required to accept them.
