Great Video. Just a few things. The what you call "Aux Cord" plug is actually a USB cable and it connects to the USB connector, this his not HDMI. It uses USB to connect to the head unit and so that you can use Apple Play / Android Audio. Awesome video other wise. Keep up the good work.
This cat just called a USB a HDMI. I love the setup though.
Lol
On me I was like wth he talking about
I caught that too. Plus that Kicker amp has Fail-safe Integration Technology which means it has a DSP and LOC built-in, making the LC-7i virtually useless.
Looks good, i recently bought the infinity reference 6 by 9 for the front doors and love them. It’s made me inspired to do more. I have a 2019 Tacoma
Your ground is a likely issue. The paint should be removed. Your gains are not volume knobs. You should be trying to achieve matched gains from head unit to LOC, then LOC to amp and amp out to speakers. You can easily do this with a hand held O-scope that runs about $50 and Ultimate Car Audio app that will play your 40hz and 100hz test tones. You should know at what level each component starts to produce a clipped signal. Power to speakers is not just an indication of volume. Power to the speakers allows full range of sound to be produced cleanly even at lower volumes. You tune the gains from head unit (finding out at what volume you produce clipped signal) to LOC then amp. All your head unit settings should be flat. Use either a remote knob on the LC7i or your amp for bass control, not turning down the gains.
Sounds like badger from breaking bad 😂
Can you talk about how you connected the factory head unit and any adjustments you did to the wiring leading to the LC7i?
The ground wire on your amp should have the paint sanded off before it was put on. Nice set up.
Should I unhook it and sand it off? Could it improve performance?
@@sheaoutsidethebox it will prolly take away hissing. Being grounded is the very most important thing about electrical. Any new grounds that were added I would sand and clean.
@@sheaoutsidethebox Absolutely it will improve performance
Hi! Can you give me the names of everything you use to do that, amps, speakers and what else? Thank you
Make a video on your wire setup
Did you have to make any adjustments on the inside of the LC7i on the jumpers with that particular setup? It looks like you just have your front and rear and then the rear is powering third channel for the subwoofer correct?
Sorry man. The shop did all of that.
Curious why you kept the non-JBL headunit vs upgrading? I have the JBL system and planning to do an audio upgrade with pioneer 7600 nex + morel speakers + JL stealthbox in the coming days. Still trying to do research on the amp and miscellaneous parts I’ll need
Replacing the head unit didn't seem to be an option, nor was it recommended.
The stock unit does everything I need it to do.
Hi
Really nice setup , what is the size of your subwoofer box? I'm having problems closing the seat back up ,and by looking at yours you don't seem to have that problem .
It is just the standard micro 8" sub box. It all comes enclosed and ready to go. If you have an 8" inch sub with a separate box, that's probably the issue.
I also cut away the little 1/4 lip or plastic from that insert behind the seat where the front of the speaker sits down in.
I wish the panel wouldn’t have been removed
Holy cow that's expensive! Nice set up though
Did you have the jbl system before installing this system? If so what dsp did you buy?
No. I did not have the JBL system.
What are the dimensions of that board the amp and DSP are mounted to?
18" high. 17" wide. The cutout is 8" wide & 6" high. (Or very close to that)
Would this setup will work on the 2021 Tacoma ?
I believe it would. The speaker ports in the door speakers might be a little different, but that's easy to find put using Critchfields online tools or live help.
But the amp, sub & processor would almost certainly work.
Yep all this would work, just got my system installed with the LC7i and a Kicker 5 channel. Same sub too.
What did you plug into the back of your stock deck
There is an adapter harness and a separate line out to the Amp.
But the shop did all of that.
@@sheaoutsidethebox do you have a link to the stuff you bought by any chance
@@kaneloc8491 Sorry, I don't. The amp, sub and door speakers all came from Crutchfield. You enter your vehicle info and they can tell you what you need. I think I give the names of everything in this or the door speaker install video.
The the audio shop ordered the harness and processor.
Hold on processor??? I didn’t know I would need that?! I just bought the JL stealth box for my 21 Taco now I have to spend MORE money!
For adding a subwoofer only. You may not need one.
But yes. The processor makes it possible to keep your factory head-unit and add all the new components.
@@sheaoutsidethebox ohh thank goodness! Im only adding a subwoofer
Is tha a jl subwoofer box? What brand?
JL Audio micro 8". Amazing little sub.
@@sheaoutsidethebox I have the same sub and this little guy is BADASS!!!!!!!!!!!
for the size the quality is on point and it shakes the windows for being only an 8
Nah, that was way too much money. You're enjoying it and had the money to throw away, so that's fine. I'd never go that route.
What route would you go?
@@GuatechapinnvCrickets.
He went the route of crickets.
