Speaker Upgrade Tips 2020 Tacoma Double Cab

Some tips for installing new Kicker 6x9 & 6.5" speakers in the front & rear doors. Not a tutorial. Tips : 1. Rear Speakers Only - Add $10 foam baffles from Crutchfield or Amazon ( Boom Mat) behind the speakers instead of sound deadening the whole door. I tried these on the front and they really robbed the sound. 2. Back up the screws on the 6x9 adapter brackets. There isn't enough contact with ...

It is just the standard micro 8" sub box. It all comes enclosed and ready to go. If you have an 8" inch sub with a separate box, that's probably the issue. I also cut away the little 1/4 lip or plastic from that insert behind the seat where the front of the speaker sits down in.

Your ground is a likely issue. The paint should be removed. Your gains are not volume knobs. You should be trying to achieve matched gains from head unit to LOC, then LOC to amp and amp out to speakers. You can easily do this with a hand held O-scope that runs about $50 and Ultimate Car Audio app that will play your 40hz and 100hz test tones. You should know at what level each component starts to produce a clipped signal. Power to speakers is not just an indication of volume. Power to the speakers allows full range of sound to be produced cleanly even at lower volumes. You tune the gains from head unit (finding out at what volume you produce clipped signal) to LOC then amp. All your head unit settings should be flat. Use either a remote knob on the LC7i or your amp for bass control, not turning down the gains.
