  • It's not true! Age does NOT cause hip arthritis!
We don't have solid research showing that age is the direct cause of hip osteoarthritis. It's just an assumption in the healthcare field based on a correlation between people getting older as their hip arthritis gets worse.
But making that assumption leads to all kinds of wrong thinking about how to treat hip arthritis. The main thinking is that hip osteoarthritis will NEVER get better because you cannot stop aging.
We prove this thinking wrong every day in our clinic!
In this video, Dr. David shares the top 3 reasons why age does not cause hip arthritis.

Hey Doc, thanks for all your videos. I am 63 at 59 I tore my right hip labrum(didn't know at the time thought it was just a groin pull). For two years it seemed to get better then a month or two later it would get worse and flare up. I finally went to the doctor for something else(knee sprain) and got my hip x-rayed and I only had level one arthritis. I told my Dr. I thought I tore my hip labrum two years prior (after noticing on UA-cam a torn hip labrum will show as a groin pull). He laughed and said I was a "UA-cam Dr.). He said I could get an MRI and sure enough a torn hip labrum. Now it is two years later and I have had two Ortho Doc's want to do a total hip replacement but I am not bone on bone but close. I think most of my pain is coming from the torn labrum not the arthritis. I asked If I could just have my labrum repaired and he said " what hip labrum" I assume that meant there wasn't enough labrum left to repair. Anyway a long story long, I don't want a hip replacement but I am on the schedule but I am trying to lose weight and am eating better hoping I can get the hip labrum to repair itself with scar tissue or something that will save me from surgery.

I’ve been eating clean for 30 days. No processed food. Nothing with a label and nothing with more than 3 ingredients. No juice. Only been eating wild fish, fruits and veg and a little rice, lots of eggs, double x multivitamins and anti inflammatory which I plan on stop taking soon. I feel great. No pain no discomfort. Nothing. I hope this lasts!

    Hello Doctor
I just started the hip arthritis recovery program, I'm doing phase one.
I have tried so many different exercises and many other modalities over the years for my hip, and nothing has worked.
Before this program I tried your tips exercises and they helped.
In all my experience, I was never given most of the exercises you recommend and your exercises do work.
How long does one stay on each phase of the program.
    Thank You

You are right, never noticed a Prius until I bought one then boom everywhere.
I am letting the inflammation have a vacation and will be starting the rest after it is not so pissed off any more.
Even the glutes working is an improvement so I can say that part for sure.
Gonna go through you list and then see if I need the program as well. We shall see. I deserve not to hurt like this.

My finding this video is so timely as I literally came to the same conclusion. It's very sad when we all hear that age is the cause of arthritis.
I've been very active all my life but unfortunately have
Arthritis in both knees and one hip. My right hip is clear. I do believe something else has gone' wrong' and it's a case of identifying ihe root cause. ( My knees were diagnosed in my early 400s and I'm now 51 and suddenly have a lot of problems in my left hip that seemed to come from nowhere. So why only my left hip is the question I've been asking myself. Thankyou for all your useful support, . It's nice not to hear the often frustrating advice given to people with arthritis .

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  Місяць тому

Hi Mili, We're very sorry to hear about your struggles with arthritis in both knees and one hip. It must be incredibly frustrating to encounter these challenges despite maintaining an active lifestyle.
It's inspiring to see your determination to understand what's happening with your left hip, especially when faced with the common misconception that age is the sole factor behind arthritis.
Most often the root cause of hip issues is a muscle imbalance stemming from the glutes and abdominals and for Knee arthritis the muscle imbalance stems from the the glutes.

Sorry to hear about your accident/fall. I'm about 7 months into total hip replacement. And I still have pain. It comes and goes. I feel numb at the incision. I had lower back pain and I went to a chiropractor for help. The 3rd time I went the chiropractor Broke my rib on the left side of my chest. I'm in so much pain and I have asthma on top of all this. And I can't breathe well. Went to ER got 4 x-rays and a CT scan. I'm not doing well. It's hard for me to stay down. Thank you for sharing your story. 🇺🇸 👍⭐️
