58 year old man here, great to see a video for males suffering from this, I’m subscribed and learning all I can from your videos, I found out that I had osteoporosis after moving a 450lb fridge and fracturing 2 lumbar vertebrae. Don’t want to take the drugs, completely changed my diet, will be looking into more info from your channel so I can improve my Osteoporosis. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge.
Thank you for sharing your story! I'm glad to hear you're finding value in the videos and have already made changes to improve your health. Keep up with your efforts, and feel free to reach out with any questions. Your dedication is inspiring!
Two years on HRT (estradiol patch and progesterone), I have gone from -3.3 in lumbar spine to -2.8. I am encouraged believe this is the right path for me!
My PCP is "open-minded" and will prescribe my compounded progesterone . I really didn't ask about estradiol or testosterone - I went to a women's health Dr- it was a game-changer to be with a practitioner who is focused on HRT for women and long term vitality! I found her online.
@@Truthmatters6385 Could you share how you found your women’s health doctor online? Was this the search phrase you used? Or do you know if a database where one can look up such doctors geographically? Thank you.
I'm a registered nurse and was also what you would call a chronic patient because I had many different medical problems as a younger person and almost every doctor I went to who diagnosed me with anything told me that it was crying chronic it would never go away. I truly believe it's an agenda to make people afraid and to put in their minds that there's nothing that can be done for their health except to take drugs and have surgery. It's really reprehensible and I can't tell you how depressing it became to hear that over and over from doctors that I not only worked with but took advantage of their care
After having a bone scan two years, I was told by a PA that I had osteoporosis. She went by what the result showed for my left forearm T -3... (I had a spinal fusion years ago). I took her advice and got the Prolia shot and only took one. This was the worst advice of my life. No side effects were given and I have been miserable ever since. I pulled my scan and went to my doctor (not the PA).My other Tscores were less than -.05!!!! Now I'm trying hard to come back from daily pain all over that has stopped me from doing exercise. I have been told I need another spinal fusion and complete knee surgery. I'm starting HRT at 68 and having had my hysterectomy 23 years ago I hope it helps (no other medical issues at all). Doing my second scan (2 years later) next month. Thank you for all your thoughts. NO BONE MEDS FOR ME!

Your story is very close to mine ,age and information. I have not taken prolia, but was wondering why no one mentions HRT. That definitely sounds like a better plan. Going to try and find a better Doctor. I was diagnosed one year ago, all they say is take calcium. I have been doing my own research
i had calcium supplements I am low in calcium so mine goes out via the toilet only just found out 7 years ago to avoid kale and spinach tea coffee milk dairy cheese things what are lovely like Cola Fizzy Drinks even Fizzy Water Tonic Water, Cakes, Bread Pasta, Rice, Nuts, BBQ meats Burgers Steaks, Pastry Products, Pies Quiche Red-Meat cooking oils junk food, vegan food and plant-based are processed in some way just have normal food and drink a lot every day juice can be high calcium depletes calcium from bones osteoclasts, osteoblasts my calcium should be around 2 very very rare disease im in my 50s this year still going strong
Thank you! I signed up for the free course with all the reading materials and I signed up for the next Zoom class. My osteopenia has already started to reverse just doing what I already knew to do -- higher protein, animal protein, dairy, and resistance training. I'm excited because now I'll have all the information I need! Since I retired I have been full time on improving my health. My labs are all great, by the way. I enjoy doing this because it gives me something to do with my over-achiever type A personality. hahahaha

I have totally reversed my osteoporosis in the last year. I quit taking Fosamax, which I had been on for about four or five years. I have always lifted weights, but I made sure to start lifting heavier and more consistently. I also carefully choose my supplements, including one recommended by Dr. Doug, and started taking collagen with Fortibone. I am 68 years old.
I am a postmenopausal woman in FL, lumbar T score -3.8, Femoral neck -1.6, total hip -1.9. I would love video examples for post menopausal women. I’m very active
I have severe osteoporosis, but do the weights, supplements, and work on digestive issues. There are so many root causes that we never are talking about, and a lot of them have to do with digestion....Thanks for your help. One of your programs helped me to do the resistance with the heaviest weight I can manage.
This is incredible and gives me so much hope. I have a scan of -5.7 but not sure how accurate it is as I can't lay flat due to past back fractures. I believe mine was caused by my previous thyroid cancer that was undetected for years. I have since seen a bone metabolic doctor - nothing was showing up in it or my urine collection. I have declined meds for now and got put on estradiol because that was also very low (post menopause). I am on something similar to AlgaeCal, fortibone collagen, K2/D3 and the rest from food. I am in PT doing strength training and weight bearing exercises. I am working hard to get my life back. You are a big part of that. I enjoy your videos and content. Thank you.
@@suethompson3970 also what do you do for weight bearing exercises? I’ve started walking 10,000 steps most days. I’m worried because my osteoporosis was worse on my last scan. Thanks for replying.

Thank much so much for having a comprehensive video about "Bob". I saw a video last year where he was mentioned in some detail, but I appreciate getting the whole picture.
I tried to put my results up here but it won’t accept a photo. I had a bone densitometry scan done in Jan ‘23 but didn’t get the results until Aug ‘23 so not knowing my results, I didn’t do anything except take VitD on its own. I then found out my LSpine Tscore was -3.7 which is severe OP. I did some of the things you suggested and on my repeat scan in Mar’24 my LSpine had improved to -3.1 which was a 10.4% improvement. My hip improved by 13.3% and my forearm by 3.7%. Both scans were done at the same radiological practice on the same machine. My endocrinologist was pretty happy. He will repeat in another 12 months to see if more progress has been made.
That’s amazing! I’m freaking out because my t-score in my spine went from -3.3 to -3.7 last year even though I ramped up calcium in my diet and supplemented with vitamin D. Tried to strength train but probably didn’t do enough. What specifically do you think made the biggest difference for you?
Hi from Australia Shannon. I added K2 and magnesium to my VitD as VitD on its own can’t get to where it needs to be. I take about 3-4000 a day. I added prunes to my diet. I bought a weighted vest (5kgs) and started walking. On the days I don’t walk I wear the vest around my house doing housework 😏. My daughter dragged me to a gym where I do some resistance training - just light weights and very mindful of good positioning of my spine. I bought a vibration plate and instead of the recommended 10mins a day I stand on it (watching tv) for 2x20 min sessions a day. They are safe for up to 4 hours a day. My doctor told me not to take calcium tablets but to get the calcium from food. I climb stairs now instead of escalators. Basically I try to move more (says me lying in bed typing this out 😎). Don’t freak out. That just causes stress which is bad for your body. Chin up, pick out your choices and be determined to work at them. And put on some music and dance. It’s great for your bones…….and your soul.
@@lou-lou1171 Thank you so much, Louise! I’m really happy for you. This gives me a lot of hope. And thank you for some great ideas that I haven’t yet implemented, but will!

I will never believe that there is no remedy for an illness only that we don’t know the remedy. If I believed there was no remedy for dementia when my Mum was diagnosed 13 years ago she probably would not be still with us because I reversed it with the help of a doctor and naturopath as well as with some of my own ideas. Now my girlfriend has osteoporosis and we have found many things that need to be rectified in her that will help especially her very low vitamin D.
It’s important to build strong muscles and flexibility so you don’t fall down. And if you do, you know how to fall to help avoid any fractures. Stronger muscles and flexibility will help you. My 90 year old mother in law has been taking assorted bone drugs for over 20 years and still broke a hip 2 years ago. She's not been good about taking supplements or exercising, but by golly she took her bone drugs. They did not keep her from breaking a hip. I am 65, have osteoporosis, doing all the suggested supps, and walking, and using a vibration plate. Hopefully my next bone scan is showing some improvement. I refused the bone drugs.
I did my followup DEXA today, one year after my abysmal scores last fall. The t scores are still low (-1.9 lumbar spine, -2.4 Left hip , and -2.5 left femoral neck). But the bone density scores increased 20%, 11%, and 30% respectively. The only changes I made are beginning algae cal six months ago, and reducing omeprazole 20mg to twice per week, and substituting famotidine on other days. I have had three abdominal surgeries in the last four years for prostate, and inguinal and hiatal hernias. My anemia is gone and my reflux is under control. I told my GP today to leave me alone and I don't want bone drugs.
Congratulations on your progress! That is remarkable. It sounds like you're really taking charge of your health, and your results speak volumes. Keep up the great work, and thank you for sharing this inspiring update!

Dr. Lucas, I reversed osteoporosis once taking OsteoPrime Ultra. It is the best supplement on the market because it includes all the micro-nutrients required for your bones to absorb calcium. Unfortunately, one of my doctors decided that the reason I developed Osteoporosis in the first place was undiagnosed Celiac (which I do have). So I stopped taking my Osteoprime for around 10 years. Now the Osteoporosis is back, and I'm rebuilding my bones again. I just don't love taking the pills because they're large pills, but Osteoprime Ultra works! I got Osteoprime Ultra initially from Dr. George Kessler, in NYC who specializes in rebuilding bone density in persons with Osteoporosis.

I was told I had -3 osteo. I workout daily refuse to take drugs. I am a whole food plant based organic mostly raw vegan taking B12 and vit D3. I was hit by a car and if I am so fragile I should have broken more than just where the car hit me since I got thrown up in the air and landed on my back! But I didn’t .
I'm very glad you avoided major harm, but please reconsider your diet. Many studies show fracture risk is much higher for vegetarians and higher still for vegans. I would speculate it's yet higher for raw vegans since cooking foods makes nutrients and especially protein more bioavailable. Without cooking, you can't even eat major protein sources like beans and most legumes without poisoning yourself. Please add cooked sources of protein back, and also consider a few animal products like eggs or dairy.
I fractured my back at L1. It was diagnosed with a CT and an MRI. It also showed I have Osteopenia. Is it true, that because you have a fracture, your diagnoses immediately changes to Osteoporosis? Also, after 1 1/2 years, I am still in severe pain, can't bend, stand too long, or walk, without the aid of a walker. Is this normal? I feel my doctor isn't taking this seriously.

The spine T- scores -1.7 Z- Score 0.2 in January and May 1 -7 Z_ score 0.3. That's in 4 months. But my Fragility score has gone up, January it was 32.1 in May it's 34. Why not? Nearly all the research on bone health issues are on women. Quite frankly it’s nice to see some diversity. 10% of men will suffer a fragility fracture, that’s a massive amount of people in the world. Your comment is full of prejudice for no reason. The person creating the video is a man for gods sake.

Two years on HRT (estradiol patch and progesterone), I have gone from -3.3 in lumbar spine to -2.8. I am encouraged believe this is the right path for me!

Who gives those to you? PCP or Endo doctor.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
HRT gave me breast cancer. Be careful!
I hope you do well best wishes!

Thank you.

Thank much so much for having a comprehensive video about "Bob". I saw a video last year where he was mentioned in some detail, but I appreciate getting the whole picture.
Yes! Thank you for watching!

I'm hoping to get a new Dexa report in next month. I'm assuming that my numbers will be up.
That is great! I look forward to hearing how it went!
hi did you get your report? did they improve? and what have you changed to improve them?

I was hit by a car and if I am so fragile I should have broken more than just where the car hit me since I got thrown up in the air and landed on my back! But I didn’t .
Thank you for sharing this story!

Is it possible to reverse or stop Osteoporosis if you are diagnosed with hypophosphotasia ? Just by following the suggested diet and exercises ? It seems hopeless for me right now...

Hi Doctor Doug. In January 17 th 2024 I went for a Rems test in the UK and the score on Right hip was ,the T- scores was ,_2.4 Z-Score -0.8 and now in May 6 th 2024 the T-score is - 2.3. and Z- Score-0.6 with the Left hip the same. The spine T- scores -1.7 Z- Score 0.2 in January and May 1 -7 Z_ score 0.3. That's in 4 months. But my Fragility score has gone up, January it was 32.1 in May it's 34. So hopefully more impact exercises will do the job I've been working at the gym with a personal trainer, dead lifts, overhead lifts, jumping etc. I will go for another Rems test next year in January 2025.
Can you share where you had a REMS scan in the UK please? I’m happy to travel but can’t find any local to me
Dr Nick Birch. In Northampton.

Dear Lord - you have obviously never had extreme sustained stress in your life - like loosing a son over 18 months to brain cancer or living in a war zone or …
That sustained stress on your body over extended time causes such a strain on the glands that produce cortisol and adrenaline is unnatural and very damaging to your overall health … should make sense ….
Must add: I truly hope you never do go through such stress 🙏❤️
Men get it too
Absolutely right-osteoporosis affects both men and women. While my channel has focused on women’s health issues in this particular video, I aim to provide valuable information for everyone. I appreciate your input!
Why didnt you take a woman? Ive just got the message that I have osteoporose in my hips and ostopenia I think in my back. Im from norway so its not everything you say I understand. I have been given Alendronat wicht Im suppose to take once a week. But I dont want to take this medisin. I think they are dangerous to take and I dont want to take them. Please tell me that I am right to not take this kind of medisin dr. Doug?? Have a great day.
Hi! Checkout part 2:20 on this video. I explain why here :)
Why so much unnecessary talk? Very strange. Nevertheless, tks.rgrds
Hi! Thank you for your feedback. May subscribers have asked me to slow down and provide more detail in my content so I am trying my best to meet in the middle for everyone :)
Not sure this was any value.
Sorry to hear that! We have tons of videos on the channel and publish two new videos a week that may be of interest to you
Why are you talking about a man when most with osteoporosis are women???
Why not? Nearly all the research on bone health issues are on women. Quite frankly it’s nice to see some diversity. 10% of men will suffer a fragility fracture, that’s a massive amount of people in the world. Your comment is full of prejudice for no reason. The person creating the video is a man for gods sake.
He addressed this in the beginning of the video
2:16 is when he addresses this

Poor choice to use a man as the example.
Hi! I explain why I did this at part 2:20 of the video :)
