one thing i’d like to point out is when Aang falls you can see where the lightning left his body on the bottom of his foot. The details 👏🏼👏🏼

Aang did die… they weren’t aloud to say it but they showed it with all of the avatars fading and him falling from the cosmos. Katara just brought him back to life

It actually annoys me that they never addressed this and went for the conveniently-placed-stone route.
@@whatwhatwhatttttt I mean, he died and they made it clear that the chakra spots are kind of literal. And it is confirmed when Katara is healing the woundings on his back, and when she interacts with specific spots, he kinda feels pain and remembers stuff about the avatar mode.
So it was not a deus ex machina or something like that
@@trots4940 I may be missing some points, haven't rewatched in a while but it also ties up to him trying so hard to find a solution to Ozai that would not compromise his Air Nomad ways. He was at odds with literally everyone else because they wanted him to commit murder. So I feel like letting go of Katara and achieve the Avatar state through that route definitely also fits that theme.

I forget which episode but wayyy back Aang was taking to Roku and they explained the avatar state vulnerability there. Here’s the quote:
Avatar Roku: The Avatar State is a defense mechanism, designed to empower you with the skill and knowledge of all the first Avatars. The glow is the combination of all your past lives focusing their energy through your body. In the Avatar State, you're at your most powerful... but you are also at your most vulnerable.
Aang: What do you mean?
Avatar Roku: If you are killed in the Avatar State, the reincarnation cycle will be broken and the Avatar will cease to exist.
So yeah…Aang wasn’t just badly injured. If Katara had used the spiri water on Zuko, not only would Aang have died but there would be no future reincarnation of the avatar either

There's a canon lost episode of ATLA called "Escape from the Spirit World", where it's shown that while the spirit water did save Aang's life, the Avatar cycle was still broken. So during the time Aang's body was comatose, he was actually in the spirit world on a mission to reconnect with his past lives and restore the Avatar cycle. So tbh, it was kinda both Katara and Aang

For what it's worth, the spirit oasis water wouldn't have worked anyway. It didn't heal Aang's scar on his back or his foot
to be FAIR if the spirit water was concentrated on healing the scar it might have healed. for aang, it could just be that the full power of the water was doing the whole job of bringing him back to life and there wasn’t enough juice to also heal his scars

The word chakra actually means "wheel". It represents the wheel of time and refers to celestial order and balance. Celestial order and balance are Avatar-heavy concepts.
It's kind of a fun fact that both "chakra" and "wheel" are even derived from the same Indo-European root. You'd never guess it by looking at them. It's only because the ancestral forms of both words have been written down long enough that it's clear to see that they both derived ultimately from something like "kʷekʷlos". It's also the source of "cycle" (via Greek κύκλος). The kʷ in Proto-Indo-European corresponds to both the "qu" in Latin and the "wh" in English Words (Cool Hwip). That same ancestral sound generally became a "k" (but sometimes a "ky" or "ch") in Hindi.

The Crystal Catacombs are a part of the Old Ba Sing Se, and were once mined for their glowing crystals.
The only way in and out of here is with earthbending , so it's the perfect prison for non-earthbenders.

crossroads of destiny is the best episode of the series in my opinion 😎 (although you guys have an amazing final few episodes ahead of you for book 3) so happy you guys finally got to this episode!

i know ep 19 is more about aang unblocking his chakras and azula taking over the dai li but I always get so hyped for toph for basically inventing metal bending

Ya know what I’m realizing.. the four nations DIDNT use to live in harmony. There were pirates and Chin the Conqueror and The erasure of the Sun Warriors.. there was never really peace, it just was slightly less dire. It’s all relative ig 😅

How crazy is it to essentially kill off your main character in a season finale? Especially in a show targeted towards younger audiences? Like Aang really died, Katara brought him back with the oasis water, but it was almost the end of the Avatar cycle completely. Just wild to think about the implications. A lot of shows and movies are scared to cross lines like this, ending on low notes, but stakes are important! Ending a season on a lost fight was a brave move from the writers.
