Like the people before me pointed out, every instance of Zuko being nice almost kills him. There's a reason he fell for his father's empty worldview of power and unfairly earned approval.
Toph is able to sense things in the air due to seismic sense and echolocation. The trajectory, the vibrations, she can predict movements/actions... But also it was mentioned in the Blind Bandit episode that Toph can always sense the earth even if it isn't connected to the ground

Zuko asks if he died. Then Sokka says it was unclear. But everything in the play is the opposite of reality, so some people say Jet could have survived.
Originally, the writers thought of making the Earth King either a really young boy, or a really fat man. In the end, they decided to go with just a normal looking guy. Who happens to look like the Chinese emperor at a younger age.
Yeah, she senses Earth period, she only senses _other_ things like people and war machines because they're connected to Earth. That's why she couldn't detect Aang well in their firsy fight.
Toph can still predict things in the air, when we first meet her she is dodging rocks being thrown through the air at her, by using her seismic sense to know where she's being attacked from. She might not see projectiles, but she can still try to feel for them using earthbending. Also this is still the original voice actor for Iroh, the new voice actor doesn't start until Season 3.
I love seeing Sokka contributing, such as during the break in of the palace. Like yeah, he can’t bend and is contributing the least, but he does what he can when he can. He didn’t do nothing, he opened doors as the gang made their way through the palace looking for where the Earth King might be. He has a part to play.
Idk of they're trying to clown sokka but he comes up with most of the plans in this group. Combat may not be his thing but his strategy skills are up there.
It's so freaking good. I love both but I like Korra's show better than Aang's to be honest. I think it's because it is more mature with even more mature themes. but the animation, the bending, the villains. it's all so good!

This is my favorite show of all time but it was definitely designed as a kid's show. Something being made poorly doesn't make it for kids, and something being made extraordinarily well doesn't mean it stops being youth media. The writers were designing this show for kids when it was created and aired, and the limitations/expectations of that shape the show. Being a kid's show isn't bad and it doesn't make the show less valuable. It also doesn't mean that adults can't enjoy it as well!
